| 1 | Segmentation of Hematoxylin-Eosin stained breast cancer histopathological images based on pixel-wise SVM classifier显示文摘Hematoxylin-Eosin(HE) staining is the routine diagnostic method for breast cancer(BC), and large amounts of HE stained histopathological images are available for analysis. It is emergent to develop computational methods to efficiently and objectively analyze these images, with the aim of providing potentially better diagnostic and prognostic information for BC. This work focuses on analyzing our in-house HE stained histopathological images of breast cancer tissues. Since tumor nests(TNs) and stroma morphological characteristics can reflect the biological behaviors of breast invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC), accurate segmentation of TNs and the stroma is the first step towards the subsequent quantitative analysis. We first propose a method based on the pixel-wise support vector machine(SVM) classifier for segmenting TNs and the stroma, then extract four morphological characters related to the TNs from the images and investigate their relationships with the patients' 8-year disease free survival(8-DFS). The evaluation result shows that the classification based segmentation method is able to distinguish between TNs and stroma with 87.1% accuracy and 80.2% precision,suggesting that the proposed method is promising in segmenting HE stained IDC histopathological images. | 2 | Recent advances in bifunctional catalysts for zinc-air batteries:Synthesis and potential mechanisms显示文摘Zinc-air batteries(ZABs) are considered promising candidates for next-generation clean and sustainable energy storage devices because of their low cost, safety, environment-friendliness, and high specific energy density. However, owing to its poor chargedischarge capacity and low efficiency, its practical application remains challenging. The main obstacles are the intrinsic slow reaction kinetics on the air cathode, including the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR) during discharging and oxygen evolution reaction(OER) during recharging. Therefore, a reasonable design of bifunctional ORR/OER electrocatalysts with high activity and stability is the key to the development of ZABs. In this review, the recent advances in bifunctional ORR/OER electrocatalysts as air cathodes in ZABs are discussed from three perspectives: metal-organic framework-based catalysts, metal-free carbon catalysts, and metal-based catalysts. In particular, the synthesis, electrocatalytic activity, and potential mechanism of bifunctional catalysts in ZABs are discussed. In recent years, research on bifunctional catalysts has intensified, and the performance of these catalysts has significantly improved. However, most of the experimental products have complex preparation processes and high costs;therefore, the industrialization of these experimental products remains difficult. | 7 | Reconstructing changes in Atlantic thermohaline circulation during the 20th century under two possible scenarios显示文摘Atlantic thermohaline circulation(THC) is a key component of the Earth Climate System and identification of its changes during the 20th Century is critical to the understanding of its variation characteristics and the corresponding climatic impacts.Previous researches have been inconclusive,with the results varying depending on the approach used to measure THC.The results for the two established approaches for measurement of the phenomenon(direct observation and indirect reconstruction) are contradictive(weakening and non-weakening),and their credibility needs improving.Based on the tight relationship between THC anomaly and 'see-saw' intensities of Sea Surface Temperature(SST) and Surface Air Temperature(SAT),we first diagnose their quantitative relationship in the model experiments,which is corresponding to its two possible scenarios,and then reconstruct the changes of THC during the 20th Century respectively with multiple observed datasets of SST and SAT.Model results show that THC anomaly and SST/SAT 'see-saw' intensities are well correlated in timescales longer than 10/40 years under scenarios of weakening/non-weakening respectively.Two kinds of reconstructions here are consistent with each other,and we propose that THC has undergone a 2-cycle oscillation with inter-decadal scale since the Industrial Revolution with a magnitude of about 1 Sv.The transformation times of decadal trend are around the mid-1910s,the 1940s,and the mid-1970s.This research further validates the main results of previous reconstructions,and points out that THC does not have a long-term weakening during the 20th Century. | CHENG Jun GUO PinWen ZHANG FuYing LIU ZhengYu LIU LinWei QIU WenXian | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,2: | 1 |

| 13 | Engineered platelets-based drug delivery platform for targeted thrombolysis显示文摘Thrombolytic agents have thus far yielded limited therapeutic benefits in the treatment of thrombotic disease due to their short half-life,low targeting ability,and association with serious adverse reactions,such as bleeding complications.Inspired by the natural roles of platelets during thrombus formation,we fabricated a platelet-based delivery system(NO@uPA/PLTs)comprising urokinase(uPA)and arginine(Arg)for targeted thrombolysis and inhibition of re-embolism.The anchoring of uPA to the platelet surface by lipid insertion increased the thrombotic targeting and in vivo circulation duration of uPA without disturbing platelet functions.Nitric oxide(NO)generated by the loaded Arg inhibited platelet aggregation and activation at the damaged blood vessel,thereby inhibiting re-embolism.NO@uPA/PLTs effectively accumulated at the thrombi in pulmonary embolism and carotid artery thrombosis model mice and exerted superior thrombolytic efficacy.In addition,the platelet delivery system showed excellent thrombus recurrence prevention ability in a mouse model of secondary carotid artery injury.The coagulation indicators in vivo showed that the platelet-based uPA and NO co-delivery system possessed a low hemorrhagic risk,providing a promising tool for rapid thrombolysis and efficient inhibition of posttreatment re-embolism. | Songli Wang Ruifeng Wang Nana Meng Linwei Lu Jun Wang Jianfen Zhou Jiasheng Lu Qianzhu Xu Cao Xie Changyou Zhan Yao Li Yang Yu Weiyue Lu Min Liu | 2022 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,4: | 1 |

| 15 | Short-term Effects of Nitrogen Deposition on Soil Enzyme Activities in Tibet Grasslands显示文摘[Objective] The paper was to study the effects of nitrogen deposition on enzyme activity in different layers of soil. [Method] With grassland located in Zhuqudeng Village, Bujiu Township, Linzhi City, the Tibet Autonomous Region, as the object, nitrogen deposition was simulated from July 2014 to August 2015. Four N addition treatments were established: control(0 kg·hm2/a), low N(LN, 25 kg·hm2/a), medium N(MN, 50 kg·hm2/a) and High N(HN, 150 kg·hm2/a), aiming at measuring enzyme activity(invertase, catalase, urease, amylase, cellulase, polyphenol oxidase and β-glucosidase) in different layers of grassland soil(0-20 cm and 20-40 cm). [Result](1) Different levels of simulated nitrogen deposition had significant impact on invertase and β-glucosidase at the soil depth of 0-20 cm(P<0.05), but no significant impact on catalase, urease, amylase, cellulase and polyphenol oxidase(P>0.05); invertase, polyphenol oxidase and β-glucosidase had significant response to nitrogen deposition at the soil depth of 20-40 cm(P<0.05), while catalase, urease, amylase and cellulose had no significant response( P>0.05).(2) The activities of invertase and polyphenol oxidase were enhanced at the soil depth of 0-20 cm, and that of β-glucosidase was inhibited.(3) With the deepening of nitrogen deposition, the ac-tivities of invertase and cellulose were enhanced at the soil depth of 20-40 cm; the activity of polyphenol oxidase was reduced in LN treatment, but increased in HN treatment; the activity of β-glucosidase was increased in LN treatment, but decreased in MN treatment.(4) With the deepening of soil layers, invertase and polyphenol oxidase responded similarly to simulated nitrogen deposition. | 18 | Kidney-Qi deficiency diagnosed by Deng's diagnosis standard was not correlated with aging based on clinical observation of 90 participants显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To verify the Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) theory that kidney-Qi deficiency(KQD)is considered to be the main cause of aging using cross-sectional study.METHODS: Demographic and lifestyle characteristics of 90 healthy participants were collected with a self-administered questionnaire. KQD syndrome was diagnosed according to Deng's diagnosis standard. Creatinine-adjusted urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine(8-OH-dG) and 8-isomeric-prostaglandin2α(8-iso-PGF2α), salivary advanced oxidation protein products(AOPPs), malondialdehyde(MDA) and dehydroepiandrosterone-sulfate(DHEA-S) were selected as aging markers and measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.RESULTS: No significant differences were observed in participant characteristics between the KQD group and non-KQD(NKQD) group(P > 0.05). Levels of 8-OH-dG, 8-iso-PGF2α, AOPPs, and MDA increased with age, except for a slight decrease in8-OH-dG in the older group. The increase in8-iso-PGF2α was significant(P < 0.05). DHEA-S significantly decreased with increasing age(P < 0.01).8-OH-dG levels were higher in the KQD group compared with the NKQD group. Levels of urinary8-iso-PGF2α, salivary AOPPs, and MDA in the KQD group were lower than in the NKQD group. Salivary DHEA-S was higher in the KQD group compared with the NKQD group. | 19 | Tailoring Pore Structure and Morphologies in Covalent Organic Frameworks for Xe/Kr Capture and Separation显示文摘As a rising star among porous solid materials,covalent organic frameworks(COFs)with excellent properties including but not limit to facilely controllable structure,high porosity,and multi-chemical functionality represent significant potential for efficient 127Xe/85Kr capture and separation.In this study,through tuning the length of the organic ligands,two-dimensional(2D)COF materials with identical connection group but different pore properties,denoted as ATFG-COF and TpPa-COF with AA-stacking model and TpBD-COF with AB-stacking model were synthesized and tested for Kr and Xe adsorption for the first time.Adsorption measurements indicate that the narrower pore apertures and higher porosity are conducive for COF materials to capture Xe and Kr.Furthermore,the Henry’s constant,isosteric heat of adsorption(Q_(st)),and ideal adsorbed solution theory(IAST)selectivity of ATFG-COF,the pore size of which is closest to the kinetic diameter of the Xe atom(0.41 nm)among 2D COF materials,were carried out based on the single component sorption isotherms.The results illustrate that the high isosteric heat values of Xe/Kr adsorption on ATFG-COF are 25 and 16 kJ/mol at room temperature,respectively.Henry’s law predicts that the selectivity factor of Xe to Kr is 6.07,consistent with the adsorption selectivity(ca.6)calculated based on the IAST. | YUAN Mengjia WANG Xia CHEN Long ZHANG Mingxing HE Linwei MA Fuyin LIU Wei WANG Shuao | 2021 | Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2021,37,3: | 0 |
| 20 | Slope Instability Analysis of the Qiongdongnan Basin in the Northern Part of the South China Sea:Implications for the Risk Evaluation of Deepwater Drilling显示文摘The instability of continental slopes damages marine engineering equipment,such as submarine pipelines,resulting in the generation of tsunamis,which endangers the safety of nearshore personnel.Therefore,research on the instability of continental slopes where submarine landslides usually occur is crucial to the risk evaluation of deepwater drilling.Previous studies were mainly based on simplified 2D and 3D models,which extend the 2D model applied on submarine slopes with complex topography.In this study,a numerical model with bathymetric data from the Qiongdongnan Basin was established.Furthermore,3D slope stability analysis and static and dynamic analyses were conducted.The static analysis found two discussions where slopes are most likely to occur.Through the analysis of different seismic forces,the dynamic result showed that an instability area is added to the two positions where the static analysis is unstable.Topography scatters and transmits seismic waves and controls the accumulation and diffusion of seismic energy.3D calculations and analysis revealed that the direction of slope instability is closely related to terrain inclination,slope,terrain effect,and terrain curvature.Data showed that instability situations could not be derived from a single direction or profile data.Such situations are an important factor in slope stability analysis and are critical to the prediction and evaluation of marine geological disasters. | MA Linwei WU Shiguo LIU Yanrui SUN Jin OUYANG Min LI Qingping QIN Yongpeng WANG Dawei | 2023 | Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,2: | 0 |
