| 2 | Salient Object Detection from Multi-spectral Remote Sensing Images with Deep Residual Network显示文摘alient object detection aims at identifying the visually interesting object regions that are consistent with human perception. Multispectral remote sensing images provide rich radiometric information in revealing the physical properties of the observed objects, which leads to great potential to perform salient object detection for remote sensing images. Conventional salient object detection methods often employ handcrafted features to predict saliency by evaluating the pixel-wise or superpixel-wise contrast. With the recent use of deep learning framework, in particular, fully convolutional neural networks, there has been profound progress in visual saliency detection. However, this success has not been extended to multispectral remote sensing images, and existing multispectral salient object detection methods are still mainly based on handcrafted features, essentially due to the difficulties in image acquisition and labeling. In this paper, we propose a novel deep residual network based on a top-down model, which is trained in an end-to-end manner to tackle the above issues in multispectral salient object detection. Our model effectively exploits the saliency cues at different levels of the deep residual network. To overcome the limited availability of remote sensing images in training of our deep residual network, we also introduce a new spectral image reconstruction model that can generate multispectral images from RGB images. | 4 | Correlation between lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and quality of life in patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore correlations between the symptoms of constipation and abdominal distention and severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)in patients with stable disease.METHODS:We studied 191 patients with stable COPD(according to defined criteria)in this cross-sectional study from four three-level class A Chinese medicine hospitals in China.We built an Epidata 3.0 database and performed statistical analysis with SPSS,version 17.0.We analyzed correlations between the frequency of lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms(constipation and abdominal distention)and scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough,sputum and wheezing)based on the St.George's Respiratory Questionnaire(SGRQ),6-minute walking distance(6MWD)and frequency of acute exacerbations of COPD(AECOPD).RESULTS:In addition to their pulmonary symptoms,39.79%and 40.31%of study patients withstable COPD reported constipation and abdominal distention,respectively.Scores for major pulmonary symptoms(cough,sputum and wheezing),AECOPD and SGRQ values in patients with constipation and abdominal distention were significantly greater,and the 6MWD markedly shorter,than in those without them.According to Pearson's correlation analysis,there were strong correlations between these lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms and scores for pulmonary symptoms,SGRQ,6MWD and AECOPD.CONCLUSION:Lower gastrointestinal tract symptoms such as constipation and abdominal distention can adversely affect pulmonary symptoms,frequency of acute exacerbations and quality of life in patients with stable COPD. | Yan Sun Fengjie Zheng Yuhang Li Ruohan Wu Yuchao Liu Miao Liu Jinchao Zhang Kuo Gao | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,5: | 10 |
| 5 | Single-cell biomagnifier for optical nanoscopes and nanotweezers显示文摘Optical microscopes and optical tweezers,which were invented to image and manipulate microscale objects,have revolutionized cellular and molecular biology.However,the optical resolution is hampered by the diffraction limit;thus,optical microscopes and optical tweezers cannot be directly used to image and manipulate nano-objects.The emerging plasmonic/photonic nanoscopes and nanotweezers can achieve nanometer resolution,but the high-index material structures will easily cause mechanical and photothermal damage to biospecimens.Here,we demonstrate subdiffraction-limit imaging and manipulation of nano-objects by a noninvasive device that was constructed by trapping a cell on a fiber tip.The trapped cell,acting as a biomagnifier,could magnify nanostructures with a resolution of 100 nm(λ/5.5)under white-light microscopy.The focus of the biomagnifier formed a nano-optical trap that allowed precise manipulation of an individual nanoparticle with a radius of 50 nm.This biomagnifier provides a high-precision tool for optical imaging,sensing,and assembly of bionanomaterials. | Yuchao Li Xiaoshuai Liu Baojun Li | 2019 | Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1: | 9 |
| 6 | Vacancy formation enthalpies of high-entropy FeCoCrNi alloy via first-principles calculations and possible implications to its superior radiation tolerance显示文摘Because atoms in high-entropy alloys(HEAs) coordinate in very different and distorted local environments in the lattice sites, even for the same type of constituent, their point defects could highly vary.Therefore, theoretical determination of the thermodynamic quantities(i.e., defect formation enthalpies)of various point defects is rather challenging because each corresponding thermodynamic quantity of all involve constituents is not unique. The knowledge of these thermodynamic quantities is prerequisite for designing novel HEAs and understanding the mechanical and physical behaviors of HEAs. However,to date there has not been a good method to theoretically derive the defect formation enthalpies of HEAs. Here, using first-principles calculations within the density functional theory(DFT) in combination of special quasi-random structure models(SQSs), we have developed a general method to derive corresponding formation enthalpies of point defects in HEAs, using vacancy formation enthalpies of a four-component equiatomic fcc-type FeCoCrNi HEA as prototypical and benchmark examples. In difference from traditional ordered alloys, the vacancy formation enthalpies of FeCoCrNi HEA vary in a highly wide range from 0.72 to 2.89 eV for Fe, 0.88–2.90 eV for Co, 0.78–3.09 eV for Cr, and 0.91–2.95 eV for Ni due to high-level site-to-site lattice distortions and compositional complexities. On average, the vacancy formation enthalpies of 1.58 eV for Fe, 1.61 eV for Cr, 1.70 eV for Co and 1.89 eV for Ni are all larger than that(1.41 eV) of pure fcc nickel. This fact implies that the vacancies are much more difficult to be created than in nickel, indicating a reasonable agreement with the recent experimental observation that FeCoCrNi exhibits two orders of amplitudes enhancement of radiation tolerance with the suppression of void formation at elevated temperatures than in pure nickel. | Weiliang Chen Xueyong Ding Yuchao Feng Xiongjun Liu Kui Liu Z.P. | 7 | Seasonal variation in body mass and energy budget in Chinese bulbuls (pycnonotus sinensis)显示文摘Background: Seasonal adjustments in body mass and energy budget are important for the survival of small birds in temperate zones. Seasonal changes in body mass, body temperature, gross energy intake(GEI), digestible energy intake(DEI), body fat content, as well as length and mass of the digestive tract, were measured in Chinese Bulbuls(Pycnonotus sinensis) caught in the wild at Wenzhou, China.Methods: Body mass was determined with a Sartorius balance. The caloric contents of the dried food and feces were then determined using a oxygen bomb calorimeter. Total fat was extracted from the dried carcasses by ether extraction in a Soxhlet apparatus. The digestive tract of each bird was measured and weighed, and was then dried to a constant mass.Results: Body mass showed a significant seasonal variation and was higher in spring and winter than in summer and autumn. Body fat was higher in winter than in other seasons. GEI and DEI were significantly higher in winter.The length and mass of the digestive tract were greatest in winter and the magnitude of both these parameters was positively correlated with body mass, GEI and DEI. Small passerines typically have higher daily energy expenditure in winter, necessitating increased food consumption.Conclusions: This general observation is consistent with the observed winter increase in gut volume and body mass in Chinese Bulbuls. | 8 | Multi-focus image fusion based on block matching in 3D transform domain显示文摘Fusion methods based on multi-scale transforms have become the mainstream of the pixel-level image fusion. However,most of these methods cannot fully exploit spatial domain information of source images, which lead to the degradation of image.This paper presents a fusion framework based on block-matching and 3D(BM3D) multi-scale transform. The algorithm first divides the image into different blocks and groups these 2D image blocks into 3D arrays by their similarity. Then it uses a 3D transform which consists of a 2D multi-scale and a 1D transform to transfer the arrays into transform coefficients, and then the obtained low-and high-coefficients are fused by different fusion rules. The final fused image is obtained from a series of fused 3D image block groups after the inverse transform by using an aggregation process. In the experimental part, we comparatively analyze some existing algorithms and the using of different transforms, e.g. non-subsampled Contourlet transform(NSCT), non-subsampled Shearlet transform(NSST), in the 3D transform step. Firstly, an integral terminal sliding mode surface is presented, which not only avoids the singularity in the traditional terminal sliding mode, but also addresses the mismatched problems in the nonlinear control system. Secondly, a new ITSM controller with finite convergence time based on the backstepping technique is derived for a cascaded nonlinear dynamical system with mismatched uncertainties. | 11 | Porphyromonas gingivalis exacerbates ulcerative colitis via Porphyromonas gingivalis peptidylarginine deiminase显示文摘Abstract:Ulcerative Colitis(UC)has been reported to be related to Porphyromonas gingivalis(P.gingivalis).Porphyromonas gingivalis peptidylarginine deiminase(PPAD),a virulence factor released by P.gingivalis,is known to induce inflammatory responses.To explore the pathological relationships between PPAD and UC,we used homologous recombination technology to construct a P.gingivalis strain in which the PPAD gene was deleted(Δppad)and aΔppad strain in which the PPAD gene was restored(comΔppad).C57 BL/6 mice were orally gavaged with saline,P.gingivalis,Δppad,or comΔppad twice a week for the entire 40 days(days 0-40),and then,UC was induced by dextran sodium sulfate(DSS)solution for 10 days(days 31-40).P.gingivalis and comΔppad exacerbated DDS-induced colitis,which was determined by assessing the parameters of colon length,disease activity index,and histological activity index,butΔppad failed to exacerbate DDS-induced colitis.Flow cytometry and ELISA revealed that compared withΔppad,P.gingivalis,and comΔppad increased T helper 17(Th17)cell numbers and interleukin(IL)-17 production but decreased regulatory T cells(Tregs)numbers and IL-10 production in the spleens of mice with UC.We also cocultured P.gingivalis,Δppad,or comΔppad with T lymphocytes in vitro and found that P.gingivalis and comΔppad significantly increased Th17 cell numbers and decreased Treg cell numbers.Immunofluorescence staining of colon tissue paraffin sections also confirmed these results.The results suggested that P.gingivalis exacerbated the severity of UC in part via PPAD. | Xida Zhao Jingbo Liu Chong Zhang Ning Yu Ze Lu Shuwei Zhang Yuchao Li Qian Li Junchao Liu Dongjuan Liu Yaping Pan | 2021 | International Journal of Oral Science2021,13,3: | 5 |

| 14 | Speech recognition algorithm based on neural network and hidden Markov model显示文摘This study proposes a hybrid model of speech recognition parallel algorithm based on hidden Markov model( HMM) and artificial neural network( ANN). First,the algorithm uses HMM for time-series modeling of speech signals and calculates the voice to the HMM of the output probability score. Second,with the probability score as input to the neural network,the algorithm gets information for classification and recognition and makes a decision based on the hybrid model. Finally,Matlab software is used to train and test sample data. Simulation results show that using the strong time-series modeling ability of HMM and the classification features of the neural network,the proposed algorithm possesses stronger noise immunity than the traditional HMM. | 16 | Rapid detection of organophosphorus pesticide residue on Prussian blue modified dual-channel screen-printed electrodes combing with portable potentiostat显示文摘A novel electrochemical method for the rapid detection of organophosphorus pesticide residues was realized on a dual-channel screen-printed electrode(DSPE) that was integrated with a portable smartphone-controlled potentiostat. The two carbon working channels of DSPE were first modified by electrodepositing of Prussian blue. The channels were then modified with acetylcholinesterase(AChE)via Nafion. The inhibition ratio of AChE was detected by comparing the electrical current of acetylthiocholine(ATCh) that was catalyzed by the enzyme electrodes with(channel 1) and without(channel 2) organophosphorus pesticide. Inhibition ratios were related with the negative logarithm of the organophosphorus pesticide(trichlorfon, oxamyl, and isocarbophos) concentrations at optimum experimental conditions(pH 6.9 of electrolyte, 0.2 V working potential, 2.5 μL AChE modification amount, and 15 min inhibition time). The linear equations were I% = 32.301 gC +253.3(R = 0.9750) for isocarbophos, 1% = 35.991 gC + 270.1(R = 0.9668) for chlorpyrifos, and 1% = 33.701 gC+ 250.5(R = 0.9606) for trichlorfon. The detection limits were calculated as 10^(-7)g/mL. | 17 | Periostin mediates epithelial-mesenchymal transition through the MAPK/ERK pathway in hepatoblastoma显示文摘Objective: The aim of the present study was to analyze the prognostic factors in patients with hepatoblastoma(HB) in our single center and to evaluate periostin(POSTN) expression in HB and its association with clinicopathological variables. In addition, the underlying mechanism of how POSTN promotes HB progression was discussed.Methods: POSTN expression was investigated in HB tumors by immunohistochemistry(IHC), immunofluorescence(IF) and Western blot(WB). The association among POSTN expression, clinicopathological features and overall survival(OS) was also evaluated. The migration and adhesion ability of HB cells were measured using chemotaxis and cell-matrix adhesion assays,respectively. Epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)-associated markers and activation of the ERK pathway were detected by WB.Results: HB patients had poor prognosis which displayed lymph node metastasis, vascular invasion, POSTN and vimentin expression. POSTN expression was also associated with lymph node metastasis. Furthermore, overexpressed POSTN promoted migration and the adhesive ability of HB cells in vitro. In addition, we demonstrated that POSTN activated the MAPK/ERK pathway, upregulated the expression of Snail and decreased the expression of OVOL2. | 18 | Slip rate of the seismogenic fault of the 2021 Maduo earthquake in western China inferred from GPS observations显示文摘Seismic and field observations indicate that the Mw7.4 Maduo earthquake ruptured the Jiangcuo fault,which is a secondary fault~85 km south of the northern boundary of the Bayan Hor block in western China.The kinematic characteristics of the Jiangcuo fault can shed lights on the seismogenic mechanism of this earthquake.Slip rate is one of the key parameters to describe the kinematic features of a fault,which can also provide quantitative evidences for regional seismic hazard assessments.However,due to lack of effective observations,the slip rate of the Jiangcuo fault has not been studied quantitatively.In this study,we consider the interaction between the Jiangcuo fault and the eastern Kunlun fault,and estimate the slip rates of the two faults using the interseismic GPS observations across the seismogenic region.The inferred results show that the slip rates of the Jiangcuo fault and the Tuosuo Lake segment of the Kunlun fault are 1.2±0.8 and 5.4±0.3 mm a^(-1),respectively.Combining the slip rate with the average slip inferred from the coseismic slip model,the earthquake recurrence interval of the Jiangcuo fault is estimated to be 1800700+3700 years(1100–5500 years).Based on the results derived from previous studies,as well as calculations in this study,we infer that the slip rate of the Kunlun fault may decrease gradually from the Tuosuo Lake segment to the eastern tip.The Jiangcuo fault and its adjacent parallel secondary faults may have absorbed the relative motion of blocks together with the Kunlun fault. | Yage ZHU Faqi DIAO Yuchao FU Chengli LIU Xiong XIONG | 2021 | Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,8: | 3 |
| 19 | Cytosolic phospholipase A2α modulates cell-matrix adhesion via the FAK/paxillin pathway in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Objective: To explore the effect of cytosolic phospholipase A2α(cPLA2α) on hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cell adhesion and the underlying mechanisms.Methods: Cell adhesion, detachment, and hanging-drop assays were utilized to examine the effect of cPLA2α on the cell-matrix and cell-cell adhesion. Downstream substrates and effectors of cPLA2α were screened via a phospho-antibody microarray.Associated signaling pathways were identified by the functional annotation tool DAVID. Candidate proteins were verified using Western blot and colocalization was investigated via immunofluorescence. Western blot and immunohistochemistry were used to detect protein expression in HCC tissues. Prognosis evaluation was conducted using Kaplan-Meier and Cox-proportional hazards regression analyses.Results: Our findings showed that cPLA2α knockdown decreases cell-matrix adhesion but increases cell-cell adhesion in HepG2 cells. Microarray analysis revealed that phosphorylation of multiple proteins at specific sites were regulated by cPLA2α. These phosphorylated proteins were involved in various biological processes. In addition, our results indicated that the focal adhesion pathway was highly enriched in the cPLA2α-relevant signaling pathway. Furthermore, cPLA2α was found to elevate phosphorylation levels of FAK and paxillin, two crucial components of focal adhesion. Moreover, localization of p-FAK to focal adhesions in the plasma membrane was significantly reduced with the downregulation of cPLA2α. Clinically, cPLA2α expression was positively correlated with p-FAK levels. | 20 | Dynamic tensile and failure behavior of bi-directional reinforced GFRP materials显示文摘In this paper,a series of static/dynamic tensile tests are performed for glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP)composites.Using the combination of high-speed photography and digital image correlation(DIC)technology,true stress-strain curves in different directions and strain rates are obtained.We also obtained the dynamic failure strain of the material in different directions,which are used to accurately describe the dynamic tensile and failure behavior of the material.The experimental results show that there is a stiffness change point N in three directions under different strain rate(10-3 s-1,10 s-1,100 s-1)tensile conditions.The stiffness before and after N point is recorded as Einitial and Echanged respectively.The values of Echanged in weft direction and warp direction are about 30%to 50%of Einitial,while Echanged in tilt direction is only about 10%of Einitial.The fiber has the highest strength in the weft direction and the tilt direction has the lowest strength.With the combination of high-speed photography and DIC technology,the dynamic failure parameters of different directions under the strain rate of 100 s-1 are obtained.The dynamic failure strains in three directions are 0.245,0.373 and 0.341,respectively.The parameters are verified by impact three-point bending test.These works can more accurately describe the dynamic mechanical behavior of glass fiber reinforced plastic(GFRP)composites and provide reference for the design of GFRP structures. | Zishang Liu Zhe Yang Yuchao Chen Yangyang Yu Yanpeng Wei Maohui Li Chenguang Huang | 2020 | Acta Mechanica Sinica2020,36,2: | 2 |
