Low dose of hydroxychloroquine reduces fatality of critically ill patients with COVID-19显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is a pandemic with no specific drugs and high fatality. The most urgent need is to find effective treatments. We sought to determine whether hydroxychloroquine(HCQ)application may reduce the death risk of critically ill COVID-19 patients. In this retrospective study,we included 550 critically ill COVID-19 patients who need mechanical ventilation in Tongji Hospital,Wuhan, from February 1,2020 to April 4,2020.All 550 patients received comparable basic treatments including antiviral drugs and antibiotics, and 48 of them were treated with oral HCQ treatment(200 mg twice a day for 7–10 days)in addition to the basic treatments.Primary endpoint is fatality of patients, and inflammatory cytokine levels were compared between HCQ and non-hydroxychloroquine(NHCQ)treatments.We found that fatalities are 18.8%(9/48)in HCQ group, which is significantly lower than 47.4%(238/502)in the NHCQ group(P<0.001).The time of hospital stay before patient death is 15(10–21)days and 8(4–14)days for the HCQ and NHCQ groups,respectively(P<0.05).The levels of inflammatory cytokine IL-6 were significantly reduced from 22.2(8.3–118.9)pg mL–1 at the beginning of the treatment to 5.2(3.0–23.4)pg mL–1(P<0.05)at the end of the treatment in the HCQ group but there is no change in the NHCQ group. These data demonstrate that addition of HCQ on top of the basic treatments is highly effective in reducing the fatality of critically ill patients of COVID-19 through attenuation of inflammatory cytokine storm. Therefore,HCQ should be prescribed as a part of treatment for critically ill COVID-19 patients, with possible outcome of saving lives. | Bo Yu Chenze Li Peng Chen Ning Zhou Luyun Wang Jia Li Hualiang Jiang Dao-Wen Wang | 2020 | Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,10: | 7
Penalized total least squares method for dealing with systematic errors in partial EIV model and its precision estimation显示文摘When the total least squares(TLS)solution is used to solve the parameters in the errors-in-variables(EIV)model,the obtained parameter estimations will be unreliable in the observations containing systematic errors. To solve this problem,we propose to add the nonparametric part(systematic errors)to the partial EIV model, and build the partial EIV model to weaken the influence of systematic errors. Then, having rewritten the model as a nonlinear model,we derive the formula of parameter estimations based on the penalized total least squares criterion.Furthermore, based on the second-order approximation method of precision estimation,we derive the second-order bias and covariance of parameter estimations and calculate the mean square error(MSE).Aiming at the selection of the smoothing factor,we propose to use the U curve method. The experiments show that the proposed method can mitigate the influence of systematic errors to a certain extent compared with the traditional method and get more reliable parameter estimations and its precision information, which validates the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed method. | Leyang Wang Luyun Xiong Tao Chen | 2021 | Geodesy and Geodynamics2021,12,4: | 3
Effective suppression of the photodarkening effect in high-power Yb-doped fiber amplifiers by H2 loading显示文摘The radical suppression of the photodarkening effect and laser performance deterioration via H2 loading were demonstrated in high-power Yb-doped fiber(YDF)amplifiers. The photodarkening loss at equilibrium was114.4 d B/m at 702 nm in the pristine fiber, while it vanished in the H2-loaded fiber. To obtain a deeper understanding of the impact of photodarkening on laser properties, the evolution of the mode instability threshold and output power in fiber amplifiers was investigated. After pumping for 300 min,the mode instability threshold of the pristine fiber dropped from 770 to 612 W,and the periodic fluctuation of the output power became intense, finally reaching 100 W.To address the detrimental effects originating from photodarkening,H2 loading was applied in contrast experiments. The output power remained stable, and no sign of mode instability was observed in the H2-loaded fiber. Moreover, the transmittance at 638 nm confirmed the absence of the photodarkening effect. The results pave the way for the further development of high-power fiber lasers. | RUITING CAO GUI CHEN YISHA CHEN ZHILUN ZHANG XIANFENG LIN BIN DAI LUYUN YANG JINYAN LI | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,3: | 2

Structural-acoustic topology optimization analysis based on evolutionary structural optimization approach显示文摘The continuum structural-acoustic topology optimization with external loading is investigated herein.Finite element method(FEM) is used to obtain the structural frequency response and boundary element method(BEM) is adopted to perform exterior acoustic radiation analysis. The evolutionary structural optimization(ESO) is served as an optimization method in structural-acoustic radiation topology analysis. The acoustic radiation optimization of a plate under harmonic excitation is given for example. The numerical results show that using ESO solution to analyze structural-acoustic topology optimization is feasible and effective. | CHEN Luyun WANG Deyu (State Key Laboratory of Ocean Eng.,Shanghai Jiao Tong University Shanghai 200030) | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Acoustics2009,28,4: | 1

A Unified Solution for the Free Vibration Analysis of Simply Supported Cylindrical Shells with General Structural Stress Distributions显示文摘Most existing studies on the vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with structural stress are limited to uniform stress distribution. However, non-uniform stress distributions are encountered in many engineering applications. In this study, a unified solution for the vibration analysis of cylindrical shells with a general stress distribution is presented using the Flu¨gge shell theory and modal orthogonality simplification. The obtained analytical solution can be applied to a structure with arbitrary distributed stress, thus it has a wider range of applications than previous methods. The accuracy and advantage of the proposed method are validated by comparing with the finite element method results. | Nian Yang Luyun Chen Hong Yi Yong Liu | 2016 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2016,29,6: | 1

Fluid Evolution and Scheelite Precipitation Mechanism of the Large-Scale Shangfang Quartz-Vein-Type Tungsten Deposit, South China: Constraints from Rare Earth Element(REE) Behaviour during Fluid/Rock Interaction显示文摘Unlike classic skarn-type scheelite deposits directly acquiring sufficient Ca2+ from surrounding limestones, all of the scheelite orebodies of the Shangfang tungsten(W) deposit occur mainly in amphibolite, and this provides a new perspective on the mineralization mechanism of W deposits. The ability of hydrothermal scheelite(CaWO4) to bind REE3+ in their Ca2+ crystal lattices makes it a useful mineral for tracing fluid-rock interactions in hydrothermal mineralization systems. In this study, the REE compositions of scheelite and some silicate minerals were measured systematically in-situ by laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(LA-ICP-MS) to assess the extent of fluid-rock interactions for the Late Mesozoic quartz-vein-type Shangfang W deposits. According to the variations in CaO and REE among scheelite and silicate minerals, the amphibole and actinolite in amphibolite may be able to release large amounts of Ca2+ and REE3+ into the ore-forming fluids during chlorite alteration, which is critical for scheelite precipitation. Furthermore, an improved batch crystallization model was adopted for simulating the process of scheelite precipitation and fluid evolution. The results of both the in-situ measurements and model calculations demonstrate that the precipitation of early-stage scheelite with medium rare-earth elements(MREE)-rich and [Eu/Eu*]N<1. The early-stage scheelite would consume more MREE than LREE and HREE of fluid, which will gradually produce residual fluids with strong MREE-depletion and [Eu/Eu*]N>1. Even though the partition coefficient of REE is constant, the later-stage scheelite will also inherit a certain degree of MREE-depletion and [Eu/Eu*]N future from the residual fluids. As a common mineral, sheelite forms in various types of hydrothermal ore deposits(e.g., tungsten and gold deposits). Hence, the improved batch crystallization model is also possible for obtaining detailed information regarding fluid evolution for other types of hydrothermal deposits. The results from model calculations also illustrate that the Eu anomalies of scheelite are not an effective index correlated to oxygen fugacity of fluids but rather are dominantly controlled by the continuous precipitation of scheelite. | Runsheng Chen Luyun Zhu Shao-Yong Jiang Ying Ma Qinghai Hu | 2020 | Journal of Earth Science2020,31,4: | 1
