4Ultra-broadband on-chip twisted light emitter for optical communications显示文摘On-chip twisted light emitters are essential components of orbital angular momentum(OAM)communication devices1,2.These devices address the growing demand for high-capacity communication systems by providing an additional degree of freedom for wavelength/frequency division multiplexing(WDM/FDM).Although whispering-gallery-mode-enabled OAM emitters have been shown to possess some advantages3–5,such as compactness and phase accuracy,their inherent narrow bandwidths prevent them from being compatible with WDM/FDM techniques.Here,we demonstrate an ultra-broadband multiplexed OAM emitter that utilizes a novel joint path-resonance phase control concept.The emitter has a micron-sized radius and nanometer-sized features.Coaxial OAM beams are emitted across the entire telecommunication band from 1,450 to 1,650 nm.We applied the emitter to an OAM communication with a data rate of 1.2 Tbit/s assisted by 30-channel optical frequency combs(OFCs).The emitter provides a new solution to further increase capacity in the OFC communication scenario.Zhenwei Xie Ting Lei Fan Li Haodong Qiu Zecen Zhang Hong Wang Changjun Min Luping Du Zhaohui Li Xiaocong Yuan 2018Light(Science & Applications)2018,7,1:7
5DCT domain filtering method for multi-antenna code acquisition显示文摘For global navigation satellite system(GNSS) signals in Gaussian and Rayleigh fading channel, a novel signal detection algorithm is proposed. Under the low frequency uncertainty case, after performing discrete cosine transform(DCT) to the outputs of the partial matched filter(PMF) for every antenna, the high order components in the transforming domain will be filtered, then the equalgain(EG) combination for the inverse discrete cosine transform(IDCT) reconstructed signal would be done subsequently. Thus,due to the different frequency distribution characteristics between the noise and signals, after EG combination, the energy of signals has almost no loss and the noise energy is greatly reduced. The theoretical analysis and simulation results show that the detection algorithm can effectively improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the captured signal and increase the probability of detection under the same false alarm probability. 7Discrimination of False Negative Results in RT-PCR Detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in Clinical Specimens by Using an Internal Reference显示文摘Reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)is an essential method for specific diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection.Unfortunately,false negative test results are often reported.In this study,we attempted to determine the principal causes leading to false negative results of RT-PCR detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNAs in respiratory tract specimens.Multiple sputum and throat swab specimens from 161 confirmed COVID-19 patients were tested with a commercialfluorescent RT-PCR kit targeting the ORF1 ab and N regions of SARS-CoV-2 genome.The RNA level of a cellular housekeeping gene ribonuclease P/MRP subunit p30(RPP30)in these specimens was also assessed by RT-PCR.Data for a total of 1052 samples were retrospectively re-analyzed and a strong association between positive results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA tests and high level of RPP30 RNA in respiratory tract specimens was revealed.By using the ROC-AUC analysis,we identified Ct cutoff values for RPP30 RT-PCR which predicted false negative results for SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR with high sensitivity(95.03%–95.26%)and specificity(83.72%–98.55%)for respective combination of specimen type and ampli-fication reaction.Using these Ct cutoff values,false negative results could be reliably identified.Therefore,the presence of cellular materials,likely infected host cells,are essential for correct SARS-CoV-2 RNA detection by RT-PCR in patient specimens.RPP30 could serve as an indicator for cellular content,or a surrogate indicator for specimen quality.In addition,our results demonstrated that false negativity accounted for a vast majority of contradicting results in SARS-CoV-2 RNA test by RT-PCR.Yafei Zhang Changtai Wang Mingfeng Han Jun Ye Yong Gao Zhongping Liu Tengfei He Tuantuan Li Mengyuan Xu Luping Zhou Guizhou Zou Mengji Lu Zhenhua Zhang 2020Virologica Sinica2020,35,6:5
8A new acyclic peroxide from Aspergillus nidulans SD-531,a fungus obtained from deep-sea sediment of cold spring in the South China Sea显示文摘A new acyclic peroxide derivative asperoxide A(1),along with 13 known compounds,namely,microperfuranone(2),9-hydroxymicroperfuranone(3),gibellulin A(4),lecanoric acid(5),terrequinone A(6),sterigmatocystin(7),isosecosterigmatocystin(8),arugosin C(9),curvularin(10),3,3'-diindolylmethane(11),austinol(12),austin(13),and dehydroaustin(14),were isolated and identified from the culture extract of Aspergillus nidulans SD-531,a fungus obtained from the deep-sea sediment of cold spring in the South China Sea.Their structures were determined based on detailed interpretation of nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopic and mass spectrometry data analysis.All the isolated compounds were evaluated for antimicrobial activities against human and aquatic bacteria as well as plant pathogenic fungi.Compounds 1–8,10,and 11 exhibited antimicrobial activities against some of the tested strains with minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC)values ranging from^2 to 64μg/mL.Compounds 4 and 6 displayed strongest activities among the tested samples and might be used as promising molecules for the development of natural antimicrobial agents.LÜFengyi LI Xiaoming CHI Luping MENG Linghong WANG Bingui 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,4:4
9Japanese Encephalitis Virus NS1' Protein Antagonizes Interferon Beta Production显示文摘Japanese encephalitis virus(JEV) is a mosquito-borne virus and the major cause of viral encephalitis in Asia. NS1', a52-amino acid C-terminal extension of NS1, is generated with a-1 programmed ribosomal frameshift and is only present in members of the Japanese encephalitis serogroup of flaviviruses. Previous studies demonstrated that NS1' plays a vital role in virulence, but the mechanism is unclear. In this study, an NS1' defected(rG66A) virus was generated. We found that rG66A virus was less virulent than its parent virus(pSA14) in wild-type mice. However, similar mortality caused by the two viruses was observed in an IFNAR knockout mouse model. Moreover, we found that rG66A virus induced a greater type Ⅰ interferon(IFN) response than that by pSA14, and JEV NS1' significantly inhibited the production of IFN-b and IFN-stimulated genes. 11On the Spectral Moments of Wind Waves显示文摘In order to obtain high order spectral moments, the residual moment M( ωn )i =∫ωn0ωiS(ω)dω, as proposed by Dehis, is presented for approximate estimation of spectral moment mi =∫m0ωiS(ω)dω. Glazman's partial averaging idea isdiscussed. It is pointed out that Glazman's method and definition of non-dimensional spectral moment can not be used to es-timate spectral moments for engineering purposes and that method is not supported by theory and computation. The non-di-mensional spectral moment of PM spectnun, which should be expressed as Mi = M(ωn ) i/ag2ω0i-p+1 , is related to wind speed. 13Neuroprotective effect of heat shock protein 70 Inhibition of Tau protein expression显示文摘BACKGROUND: Previous studies have shown that heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) hasneuroprotective effects by decreasing phosphorylation of Tau protein, thereby reducing theexpression of Tau protein and proper aggregation.OBJECTIVE: To observe and verify expressional changes of HSP70 and Tau in retinal ganglioncells following stretch injury to the right optic nerve in rats, and to determine the effect of heat stresspretreatment on HSP70 and Tau protein expressions.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled, animal experiment was performed at theLaboratory of Neurology Research Institute of the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing MedicalUniversity from March to June 2006.MATERIALS: Instant SABC immunohistochemistry kit, as well as mouse anti-HSP70 and rabbitanti-Tau polyclonal antibodies, were purchased from Wuhan Boster Bioengineering Limited, China.METHODS: A total of 57 male, Wistar rats were randomly assigned to 4 groups: control (n = 3);150-180 g stretch force was induced in the right optic nerves in stretch-only group (n = 18) toestablish optic nerve stretch injury model; heat stress was applied to 18 animals in heat-stresstreatment group; 18 rats in the heat-stress pretreatment plus stretch group were subjected toidentical stretch injury as stretch-only group after 24-hour heat-stress pretreatment. According tosacrifice time, the groups were assigned to 6 subgroups at different time points of 4, 8, and 16 hours,and 1,3, and 5 days, with 3 rats in each subgroup. No treatment was performed in the control groupexcept anesthesia.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Morphological changes of optic nerves and retinal ganglion cellsfollowing stretch injury were observed by light microscopy following hematoxylin-eosin staining.HSP70 and Tau protein expression levels were observed in retinal ganglial cells from each groupusing im munohistochemistry.RESULTS: (1) Compared with the control group, morphological axonal and retinal ganglial cellchanges, as well as a decreased number of retinal ganglial cells, were identified in the stretch-onlygroup (P< 0.01). Pathological damage in optical nerve and retinal ganglial cells were not remarkablein the heat-stress pretreatment plus stretch group, with no statistical difference in the number ofretinal ganglial cells compared with the control group (P > 0.05). (2) Compared with the control groupsignificantly increased HSP70 expression in retinal ganglial cells occurred in the stretch-only,heat-stress treatment, and heat-stress pretreatment plus stretch groups (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01). Thepeak of HSP70 expression was earlier in the heat-stress pretreatment plus stretch group comparedwith the stretch-only and heat-stress treatment groups, and was expressed over a longer period oftime compared with the heat-stress treatment group. Compared with the control group, Tauexpression in the retinal ganglial cells rapidly increased 4-16 hours following stretch injury in thestretch-only group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01), and obviously decreased in the heat-stress pretreatmentplus stretch group (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: Tau expression increased following stretch injury, with an earlier expression peakthan HSP70, which indicated that stretch injury-induced HSP70 expression was not strong or quickenough to sufficiently protect the nerve. 17Annual Variation of Water Quality in Aquaculture Ponds for Apostichopus japonicus显示文摘By measuring water temperature,salinity,pH,dissolved oxygen,nitrite and ammonia nitrogen,the annual variation regularity of water quality in the aquaculture ponds for sea cucumbers Apostichopus japonicus in Dalian were studied.Results showed that the physicochemical indicators kept changing in the year,and the various ranges of water temperature,salinity,pH,dissolved oxygen,nitrite,and ammonia nitrogen were 6.38-27.27℃,29.20‰-33.78‰,7.86-8.38,5.19-13.36 mg/L,0.0037-0.0090 mg/L and 0.0171-0.0908 mg/L,respectively.Analysis indicated that there was an extremely significant negative correlation between water temperature and dissolved oxygen(P<0.01),an extremely significant positive correlation between water temperature and ammonia nitrogen(P<0.01),a significant negative correlation between salinity and nitrite(P<0.05),a significant negative correlation between dissolved oxygen and nitrite(P<0.05),and an extremely significant negative correlation between dissolved oxygen and ammonia nitrogen(P<0.01)in the aquaculture ponds for sea cucumber in Dalian.Research showed that the water quality of aquaculture ponds kept fluctuating all the time during the tested period,there were complicated and close relationships among physicochemical indicators,and a slight variation of external factors would bring consecutive reactions to different indicators in the water quality of aquaculture ponds.A reference for the production and management of sea cucumbers could be provided from the results.Yaoming LUO Yuan CHENG Duohui LI Zhiying GAO Luping WANG Jiangyi WU Dawei JIANG 2019Asian Agricultural Research2019,11,11:1
