| 1 | Reconstruction of precipitation variation from tree rings in recent 1000 years in Delingha, Qinghai显示文摘Using seven well-replicated Qilian juniper (Sabina przewalskii Kom.) ring-width chronologies developed at Zongwulong and Shalike Mts. in the northeastern part of the Qaidam Basin annual precipitation from previous July to current June in the recent 1000 years was re- constructed for Delingha. The reconstruction can capture 63.1% of precipitation variance and the equation was stable over time. For the reconstructed precipitation, wet periods occurred in AD1520—1633 and 1933—2001, whereas dry intervals in 1429—1519 and 1634—1741. In ad- dition, the magnitude in precipitation variation was lower before 1430 with about 15 mm, but it increased to 30 mm during the period of 1430 to 1850. After 1850, the precipitation variance de- creased again. In contrast to the increase in temperature, a decrease in annual precipitation was evident since the 1990s. The agreement in low-frequency variation between the reconstruction and the glacier accumulation and particulate content in Dunde ice cores during the recent several hundred years suggested that the precipitation reconstructed in this study was rather reliable, and represented a regional signal. | 2 | Ganoderic acid hinders renal fibrosis via suppressing the TGF- β/Smad and MAPK signaling pathways显示文摘Renal fibrosis is considered as the pathway of almost all kinds of chronic kidney diseases(CKD)to the end stage of renal diseases(ESRD).Ganoderic acid(GA)is a group of lanostane triterpenes isolated from Ganoderma lucidum,which has shown a variety of pharmacological activities.In this study we investigated whether GA exerted antirenal fibrosis effect in a unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO)mouse model.After UUO surgery,the mice were treated with GA(3.125,12.5,and 50 mg·kg^−1·d^−1,ip)for 7 or 14 days.Then the mice were sacrificed for collecting blood and kidneys.We showed that GA treatment dose-dependently attenuated UUO-induced tubular injury and renal fibrosis;GA(50 mg·kg^−1·d^−1)significantly ameliorated renal disfunction during fibrosis progression.We further revealed that GA treatment inhibited the extracellular matrix(ECM)deposition in the kidney by suppressing the expression of fibronectin,mainly through hindering the over activation of TGF-β/Smad signaling.On the other hand,GA treatment significantly decreased the expression of mesenchymal cell markers alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA)and vimentin,and upregulated E-cadherin expression in the kidney,suggesting the suppression of tubular epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)partially via inhibiting both TGF-β/Smad and MAPK(ERK,JNK,p38)signaling pathways.The inhibitory effects of GA on TGF-β/Smad and MAPK signaling pathways were confirmed in TGF-β1-stimulated HK-2 cell model.GA-A,a GA monomer,was identified as a potent inhibitor on renal fibrosis in vitro.These data demonstrate that GA or GA-A might be developed as a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment of renal fibrosis. | Xiao-qiang Geng Ang Ma Jin-zhao He Liang Wang Ying-li Jia Guang-ying Shao Min Li Hong Zhou Shu-qian Lin Jian-hua Ran Bao-xue Yang | 2020 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,5: | 43 |
| 3 | Tree-ring based PDSI reconstruction since AD 1842 in the Ortindag Sand Land,east Inner Mongolia显示文摘epartment of Wood Science, University of Hamburg, Hamburg D-21031, GermanyBased on three Chinese pine (Pinus tabulaeformis Carr.) and one Meyer spruce (Picea meyeri Rehd. et Wils.) ring-width chronologies, a 163-year drought history was reconstructed in the eastern Ortindag Sand Land. All tree-ring chronologies show large inter-annual variations and strong common signals and fairly consistent variation between different chronologies, indicating that they are excellent proxy of regional climate. A regional chronology (RC) was established by averaging the four standard chronologies and further employed for the analysis and climatic reconstruction. The analysis revealed that tree growth is primarily limited by low precipitation in February-March and June-July and high temperature in May-July. In addition, RC has high correlations with the monthly Palmer drought severity index (PDSI) prior to and during the growing season because the PDSI considers the accumulation of the droughts. Response function analysis revealed that RC only exhibits significant correlations with the PDSI in June and July (close to the 95% significance level in May). Because May―July is a critical period for tree growth, the average May-July PDSI (PDSI5-7) was reconstructed back to 1842 using RC in the Ortindag Sand Land. The reconstruction can explain 52% of the PDSI variance and the equation was rather stable over time. It agrees well with the variation of the average dryness/wetness indices in North China,and captures the decline process of the East Asian summer monsoon since the mid-1960s. It is worth noting that the Ortindag Sand Land has experienced the most severe drought in the recent 40 years based on the 163-year drought reconstruction. | 4 | Millennial temperature reconstruction based on tree-ring widths of Qilian juniper from Wulan,Qinghai Province,China显示文摘The climate of the past 1000 years is an important context for evaluating the recent climate warming.However,there are few 1000-year-long climate reconstructions with annual resolution in the Qing-hai-Tibet Plateau.In this paper,a dendroclimatic analysis was conducted for the radial growth of Qilian juniper from the upper forest limit in Wulan,Qinghai Province.The results of correlation analysis between the tree-ring widths and the climate variables indicate that the growth of junipers at the upper forest limit is mainly limited by low temperatures of September,November and February of the pregrowth season,and July of the current growth season.There is no significant correlation between the tree-ring widths and precipitation.A mean temperature from the previous year's September to the current year's April was reconstructed for the Wulan area since A.D.1000.The reconstruction can explain 40.8% of the instrumental variance in the calibration period(1856―2002).The reconstruction shows that the 20th century is the warmest 100 years,and the 1990s is the warmest decade during the past 1000 years,while the coldest 100 years and decade occur at 1600―1699 and 1642―1651,respectively.The variations are verified well by the temperature reconstruction of the middle Qilian Mountain(QL) and the total organic carbon(TOC) in the Qinghai Lake sediments.The comparison of our reconstruction with the annual temperature reconstruction of extra-tropical Northern Hemisphere suggests that the climate of Wulan during the Medieval Warm Period is of obvious regional specialty,but there was a good response to the climate of hemispheric scales during the recent 400 years. | ZHU HaiFeng ZHENG YongHong SHAO XueMei LIU XiaoHong XU Yan LIANG ErYuan | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,24: | 40 |

| 6 | Research progress on silicon/carbon composite anode materials for lithium-ion battery显示文摘Silicon(Si) has been considered as one of the most promising anode material for the next generation lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) with high energy densities, due to its high theoretical capacity, abundant availability and environmental friendliness. However, silicon materials with low intrinsic electric and ionic conductivity suffer from huge volume variation during lithiation/delithiation processes leading to the pulverization of Si and subsequently resulting in severe capacity fading of the electrodes. Coupling of Si with carbon(C) realizes a favorable combination of the two materials properties, such as high lithiation capacity of Si and excellent mechanical and conductive properties of C, making silicon/carbon composite(Si/C) ideal candidates for LIBs anodes. In this review, recent progresses of Si/C materials utilized in LIBs are summarized in terms of structural design principles, material synthesis methods, morphological characteristics and electrochemical performances by highlighting the material structures. The mechanisms behind the performance enhancement are also discussed. Moreover, other factors that affect the performance of Si/C anodes, such as prelithiation, electrolyte additives, and binders, are also discussed. | 17 | Application of next-generation sequencing technology to precision medicine in cancer: joint consensus of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology显示文摘Next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology is capable of sequencing millions or billions of DNA molecules simultaneously.Therefore, it represents a promising tool for the analysis of molecular targets for the initial diagnosis of disease, monitoring of disease progression, and identifying the mechanism of drug resistance. On behalf of the Tumor Biomarker Committee of the Chinese Society of Clinical Oncology(CSCO) and the China Actionable Genome Consortium(CAGC), the present expert group hereby proposes advisory guidelines on clinical applications of NGS technology for the analysis of cancer driver genes for precision cancer therapy. This group comprises an assembly of laboratory cancer geneticists, clinical oncologists, bioinformaticians,pathologists, and other professionals. After multiple rounds of discussions and revisions, the expert group has reached a preliminary consensus on the need of NGS in clinical diagnosis, its regulation, and compliance standards in clinical sample collection.
