| 2 | Expression Analysis of miRNAs and Highly-expressed Small RNAs in Two Rice Subspecies and their Reciprocal Hybrids显示文摘Heterosis,or hybrid vigor,is the phenomenon whereby progeny of two inbred lines exhibit superior agronomic performance compared with either parent.We analyzed the expression of miRNAs and highly expressed small RNAs (defined according to Solexa sequencing results) in two rice (Oryza sativa) subspecies (japonica cv.Nipponbare and indica cv.93-11) and their reciprocal hybrids using microarrays.We found that of all the 1141 small RNAs tested,140 (12%,140 of 1141) and 157 (13%,157 of 1141) were identified being significantly differentially expressed in two reciprocal hybrids,respectively.All possible modes of action,including additive,high-and low-parent,above high-and below low-parent modes were exhibited.Both F1 hybrids showed non-additive expression patterns,with downregulation predominating.Interestingly,15 miRNAs displayed stark opposite expression trends relative to midparent in reciprocal hybrids.Computational prediction of targets of differentially expressed miRNAs showed that they participated in multifaceted developmental pathways,and were not distinguishable from the targets of non-differentially expressed miRNAs.Together,our findings reveal that small RNAs play roles in heterosis and add a new layer in the understanding and exploitation of molecular mechanisms of heterosis. | Fangfang Chen Guangming He Hang He Wei Chen Xiaopeng Zhu Manzhong Liang Liangbi Chen Xing Wang Deng | 2010 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2010,52,11: | 10 |

| 5 | Ectopic expression of fungal EcGDH improves nitrogen assimilation and grain yield in rice显示文摘NADP(H)-dependent glutamate dehydrogenases(GDH) in lower organisms have stronger ammonium affinity than those in higher plants. Here we report that transgenic rice overexpressing the EcGDH from Eurotium cheralieri exhibited significantly enhanced aminating activities. | 6 | Natural variation of H3K27me3 modification in two Arabidopsis accessions and their hybrid显示文摘Histone modifications affect gene expression, but hthe mechanism and biological consequence of natural variation igin histone modifications remain unclear. Here, we generated Hgenome-wide integrated maps of H3K27me3 modification and transcriptome for Col, C24 and their F1 hybrid. A total of 1,828 genomic regions showing variation in H3K27me3 modification between Col and C24 were identified, most of which were associated with genic regions. Natural variation of H3K27me3 modification between parents could result in allelic bias of H3K27me3 in hybrids. Furthermore, we found that H3K27me3 variation between Col and C24 was negatively correlated with gene expression differences between two accessions, especially with those arising from the cis-effect. | 7 | Stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury A literature comparison between studies of stem cells obtained from various sources显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To identify global research trends of stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury using a bibliometric analysis of the Web of Science.DATA RETRIEVAL:We performed a bibliometric analysis of data retrievals for stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury from 2002 to 2011 using the Web of Science.SELECTION CRITERIA:Inclusion criteria:(a) peer-reviewed articles on stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury that were published and indexed in the Web of Science;(b) type of articles:original research articles,reviews,meeting abstracts,proceedings papers,book chapters,editorial material,and news items;and(c) year of publication:2002-2011.Exclusion criteria:(a) articles that required manual searching or telephone access;(b) documents that were not published in the public domain;and(c) a number of corrected papers from the total number of articles.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:(1) Annual publication output;(2) distribution according to country;(3) distribution according to institution;(4) distribution according to journals;(5) distribution according to funding agencies;and(6) top cited articles over the last 10 years.RESULTS:Bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and embryonic stem cells have been widely used for treating spinal cord injury.In total,191 studies of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cell transplantation and 236 studies of embryonic stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury appeared in the Web of Science from 2002 to 2011,and almost half of which were derived from American or Japanese authors and institutes.The number of studies of stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury has gradually increased over the past 10 years.Most papers on stem cell transplantation for treating spinal cord injury appeared in journals with a particular focus on stem cell research,such as Stem Cells and Cell Transplantation.Although umbilical cord blood stem cells and adipose-derived stem cells have been studied for treating spinal cord injury,the number of published papers was much smaller,with only 21 and 17 records,respectively,in the Web of Science.CONCLUSION:Based on our analysis of the literature and research trends,we found that stem cells transplantation obtained from various sources have been studied for treating spinal cord injury;however,it is difficult for researchers to reach a consensus on this theme. | Liangbi Xiang Yu Chen | 2012 | Neural Regeneration Research2012,7,16: | 2 |
| 8 | Exploring the genetic characteristics of 93-11 and Nipponbare recombination inbred lines based on the Golden Gate SNP assay显示文摘Understanding genetic characteristics in rice populations will facilitate exploring evolutionary mechanisms and gene cloning. Numerous molecular markers have been utilized in linkage map construction and quantitative trait locus(QTL) mappings. However, segregation-distorted markers were rarely considered, which prevented understanding genetic characteristics in many populations. In this study, we designed a 384-marker Golden Gate SNP array to genotype 283 recombination inbred lines(RILs) derived from 93-11 and Nipponbare Oryza sativa crosses. Using 294 markers that were highly polymorphic between parents, a linkage map with a total genetic distance of 1,583.2 c M was constructed, including 231 segregation-distorted markers. This linkage map was consistent with maps generated by other methods in previous studies. In total, 85 significant quantitative trait loci(QTLs) with phenotypic variation explained(PVE) values?5% were identified. Among them, 34 QTLs were overlapped with reported genes/QTLs relevant to corresponding traits, and 17 QTLs were overlapped with reported sterility-related genes/QTLs. Our study provides evidence that segregation-distorted markers can be used in linkage map construction and QTL mapping. Moreover, genetic information resulting from this study will help us to understand recombination events and segregation distortion. The wave amplitude and latency were similar in rats after combined injection of dynorphin and nor-binaltorphimine or MK-801. These results suggest that intrathecal injection of dynorphin causes damage to spinal cord function. | 15 | Effects of different aggregation forms of LHC Ⅱ from Bryopsis corticulans on the excited state properties of Chl a显示文摘Steady-state and time-resolved fluo- rescence spectroscopies have been used to study the excited state properties of Chl a in different ag- gregation forms of light-harvesting complex II (LHC II) from an intertidal green alga, Bryopsis corticulans, i.e. LHC II monomer, trimer and oligomer. When either Chl a or Chl b was selectively excited, the observed decrease in Chl a fluorescence in the oligomer is proved to be caused mainly by the fast fluorescence quenching among Chl a molecules, rather than by the decrease in Chl b-to-Chl a singlet excitation transfer efficiency. Analyses of the picosecond time-resolved fluorescence kinetics identified two exponential de- cay components in all of the three forms of LHC II: a longer-lived component (4.1―4.7 ns) originating from fluorescence emission of Chl a, and a shorter-lived one (135―540 ps) from the rapid equilibration of singlet excitation among Chl a molecules. The time constant of excitation equilibration is 135 ps in oli- gomer, 520 ps in trimer and 540 ps in monomer.
