| 1 | Mitochondrial DNA variation analysis suggests extreme low genetic diversity in Guizhou snub-nosed monkeys (Rhinopithecus brelichi)显示文摘Guizhou snub-nosed monkey (Rhinopithecus brelichi) is a unique, endangered primate in China, mainly distributed in Fanjing Mountain National Natural Reserve, Guizhou Province, in an area of 275 km2. Recently, habitat loss and fragmentation have caused population isolation. To assess genetic diversity within this species and its population structure, we sequenced 400 bp of the hypervariable I segment from the mitochondrial DNA control region for 128 individuals. Only one haplotype was identified from these individuals. | 2 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 3 | Noninvasive genetic assessment of the population trend and sex ratio of the Shennongjia population of Sichuan snub-nosed monkeys(Rhinopithecus roxellana)显示文摘Effective population management relies on assessments of population size and sex ratio.However,these estimates are difficult to obtain for elusive and rare species.Recently,noninvasive genetic census methods have been developed as an alternative to tradi-tional capture-mark-recapture methods.In this study,we estimated the size of the Sichuan snub-nosed monkey(Rhinopithecus roxellana) population in the Shennongjia Nature Reserve(SNR) using a noninvasive sampling method based on 16 microsatellite loci.We also used a PCR-based genetic method to sex the sampled individuals and infer the population sex ratio.The population size of R.roxellana in the SNR was estimated to be 1044 individuals(95% CITIRM:613-1409) .The estimated population sex ratio is more female-biased than expected,which we attribute to the sampling biased towards one male units and limited sampling of bachelor male units.Moreover,there is no suggestion that the heavy traffic road through the reserve might block movement of monkeys.The results of this study indicate genetic assessments based on a noninvasive sampling method can provide useful in-formation regarding populations of elusive primates. | CHANG ZongFei LIU ZhiJin YANG JingYuan LIMing VIGILANT Linda | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,10: | 7 |
| 4 | Predictors of healthcare-seeking behavior among Chinese patients with irritable bowel syndrome显示文摘AIM To analyze predictors of healthcare-seeking behavior among Chinese patients with irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) and their satisfaction with medical care.METHODS Participating patients met IBS Rome Ⅲ criteria(excluding those with organic diseases) and were enrolled in an IBS database in a tertiary university hospital. Participants completed IBS questionnaires in face-to-face interviews. The questionnaires covered intestinal and extra-intestinal symptoms, medical consultations, colonoscopy,medications, and self-reported response to medications during the whole disease course and in the past year. Univariate associations and multivariate logistic regression were used to identify predictors for frequent healthcareseeking behavior(≥ 3 times/year), frequent colonoscopies(≥ 2 times/year), long-term medications, and poor satisfaction with medical care.RESULTS In total, 516 patients(293 males, 223 females) were included. Participants' average age was 43.2 ± 11.8 years. Before study enrollment, 55.2% had received medical consultations for IBS symptoms. Ordinary abdominal pain/discomfort(non-defecation) was an independent predictor for healthcare-seeking behavior(OR = 2.07, 95%CI: 1.31-3.27). Frequent colonoscopies were reported by 14.7% of patients(3.1 ± 1.4 times per year). Sensation of incomplete evacuation was an independent predictor for frequent colonoscopies(OR = 2.76, 95%CI: 1.35-5.67). During the whole disease course, 89% of patients took medications for IBS symptoms, and 14.7% reported they were satisfied with medical care. Patients with anxiety were more likely to report dissatisfaction with medical care(OR = 2.08, 95%CI: 1.20-3.59). In the past year, patients with severe(OR = 1.74, 95%CI: 1.06-2.82) and persistent(OR = 1.66, 95%CI: 1.01-2.72) IBS symptoms sought medical care more frequently.CONCLUSION Chinese patients with IBS present high rates of frequent healthcare-seeking behavior, colonoscopies, and medications, and low satisfaction with medical care. | 5 | Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. | 6 | In Situ Electrochemical Mn(Ⅲ)/Mn(Ⅳ) Generation of Mn(Ⅱ)O Electrocatalysts for High-Performance Oxygen Reduction显示文摘Among various earth-abundant and noble metal-free catalysts for oxygen reduction reaction(ORR),manganese-based oxides are promising candidates owing to the rich variety of manganese valence.Herein,an extremely facile method for the synthesis of cubic and orthorhombic phase coexisting Mn(Ⅱ)O electrocatalyst as an efficient ORR catalyst was explored.The obtained MnO electrocatalyst with oxygen vacancies shows a significantly elevated ORR catalytic activity with a half-wave potential(E1/2) of as high as 0.895 V,in comparison with that of commercial Pt/C(E1/2=0.877 V).More impressively,the MnO electrocatalyst exhibits a marked activity enhancement after test under a constant applied potential for 1000 s thanks to the in situ generation and stable presence of high-valence manganese species(Mn^3+ and Mn^4+) during the electrochemical process,initiating a synergetic catalytic effect with oxygen vacancies,which is proved to largely accelerate the adsorption and reduction of O_2 molecules favoring the ORR activity elevation.Such an excellent ORR catalytic performance of this MnO electrocatalyst is applied in Zn-air battery,which shows an extra-high peak power density of 63.2 mW cm^-2 in comparison with that(47.4 m W cm^-2) of commercial Pt/C under identical test conditions. | Han Tian Liming Zeng Yifan Huang Zhonghua Ma Ge Meng Lingxin Peng Chang Chen Xiangzhi Cui Jianlin Shi | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,11: | 2 |
| 7 | Disruption of crosstalk between LX-2 and liver cancer stem-like cells from MHCC97H cells by DFOG via inhibiting FOXM1显示文摘Hepatic stellate cell(HSC)line LX-2 is activated by liver cancer stem-like cells(LCSLCs)and produces various cytokines that make up most of the hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)microenvironment.The new genistein derivative,7-difluoromethoxyl-5,4-dirboctylgenistein(DFOG),shows anticancer effects in multiple malignancies by controlling forkhead box M1(FOXM1).In this study,we aimed to assess whether DFOG disrupts the crosstalk between human HSC LX-2 cells and LCSLCs.Distinct gen erations of MHCC97H-derived spheres were obtained with the sec ond generation considered as LCSLCs which displayed enhanced self-renewal ability and elevated expression levels of CD133,CD44,and EpCAM proteins,as well as tumorigenicity,as revealed by colony formation assay in vitro and tumorigenicity assay in vivo.LX-2 and MHCC97H cells were co-cultured with/without DFOG(1,5,and 10 pM,respectively)using the transwell system.FOXM1 overexpression and/or knockdown were employed for mechanistic investigations.Our results suggested that Co-CM promoted LX-2 cell transformation into liver cancer-associated HSCs.Meanwhile,FOXM1 was up-regulated and the level of hepatocyte growth factor(HGF)was in creased in LX-2 cells and in the super nata nt after Co-CM stimulati on.Sphere and colony formation abilities in MHCC97H cells,and protein levels of CD133r CD44,and EpCAM,were also markedly elevated.DFOG dose-dependently inhibited the above effects,similar to FOXM1 knockdown in LX-2 cells.FOXM1 overexpression reversed the inhibitory effects of DFOG or FOXM1 knockdown or both on LX-2 cell activation and LCSLC feature induction in MHCC97H cells by LCSLC/LX-2 co-culture.This study demonstrated that DFOG disrupts the crosstalk between HSCs and LCSLCs to suppress LCSLC features via dowrrregulating FOXM1 expression and reducing HGF secretion in HSCs. | A Chen Chang Xu Yimin Luo Lihua Liu Kun Song Guangqi Deng Mengjie Yang Jianguo Cao Liming Yuan Xiang Li | 2019 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2019,51,12: | 2 |
