Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Therefore the observation of Insight-HXMT constitutes an important chapter in the full context of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observation of this historical GW event. | TiPei Li ShaoLin Xiong ShuangNan Zhang FangJun Lu LiMing Song XueLei Cao Zhi Chang Gang Chen Li Chen TianXiang Chen Yong Chen YiBao Chen YuPeng Chen Wei Cui WeiWei Cui JingKang Deng YongWei Dong YuanYuan Du MinXue Fu GuanHua Gao He Gao Min Gao MingYu Ge YuDong Gu Ju Guan ChengCheng Guo DaWei Han Wei Hu Yue Huang Jia Huo ShuMei Jia LuHua Jiang WeiChun Jiang Jing Jin YongJie Jin Bing Li ChengKui Li Gang Li MaoShun Li Wei Li Xian Li XiaoBo Li XuFang Li YanGuo Li ZiJian Li ZhengWei Li XiaoHua Liang JinYuan Liao CongZhan Liu GuoQing Liu HongWei Liu ShaoZhen Liu XiaoJing Liu Yuan Liu YiNong Liu Bo Lu XueFeng Lu Tao Luo Xiang Ma Bin Meng Yi Nang JianYin Nie Ge OU JinLu Qu Na Sai Liang Sun Yin Tan Lian Tao WenHui Tao YouLi Tuo GuoFeng Wang HuanYu Wang Juan Wang WenShuai Wang YuSa Wang XiangYang Wen BoBing WU Mei Wu GuangCheng Xiao He Xu YuPeng Xu LinLi Yan JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang AiMei Zhang ChunLei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang HongMei Zhang Juan Zhang Qiang Zhang Shu Zhang Tong Zhang Wei Zhang WanChang Zhang WenZhao Zhang Yi Zhang Yue Zhang YiFei Zhang YongJie Zhang Zhao Zhang ZiLiang Zhang HaiSheng Zhao JianLing Zhao XiaoFan Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yue Zhu YuXuan Zhu ChangLin Zou | 2018 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,3: | 12
Protective effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium on ovarian damage显示文摘Chemotherapeutic agents are extensively used to treat malignancies.However,chemotherapy-induced ovarian damage and reduced fertility are severe side effects.Recently, stem cell transplantation has been reported to be an effective strategy for premature ovarian insufficiency(POI)treatment, but safety can still be an issue in stem cell-based therapy. Here,we show the protective effects of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell-derived conditioned medium(hUCMSC-CM)on a cisplatin(Cs)-induced ovarian injury model.hUCMSC-CM can relieve Cs-induced depletion of follicles and preserve fertility. In addition,hUCMSC-CM can decrease apoptosis of oocytes and granulosa cells induced by Cs.RNA sequencing analysis reveals the differentially expressed genes of ovaries after Cs and hUCMSC-CM treatments, including genes involved in cell apoptosis.Furthermore,we show that the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF)/phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/protein kinase B(Akt)pathway plays an important role in protecting granulosa cells from Cs-induced apoptosis.Together,we confirm the protective effects of hUCMSC-CM on ovarian reserve and fertility in mice treated with Cs,highlighting the remarkable therapeutic effects of hUCMSC-CM. | Liming Hong Long Yan Zhimin Xin Jie Hao Wenjing Liu Shuyu Wang Shujie Liao Hongmei Wang Xiaokui Yang | 2020 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,5: | 7

The effects of a new shape-memory alloy interspinous process device on the distribution of intervertebral disc pressures in vitro显示文摘This study was designed to measure the pressure distribution of the intervertebral disc under different degrees of distraction of the interspinous process, because of a suspicion that the degree of distraction of the spinous process may have a close relationship with the disc load share. Six human cadaver lumbar spine L2-L5 segments were loaded in flexion, neutral position, and extension. The L3-L4 disc load was measured at each position using pressure measuring films. Shape-memory interspinous process implants (SMID) with different spacer heights, ranging in size from 10 to 20 mm at 2 mm increments, were used. It was found that a SMID with a spacer height equal to the distance of the interspinous process in the neutral position can share the biomechanical disc load without a significant change of load in the anterior annulus. An interspinous process stabilizing device (IPD) would not be appropriate to use in those cases with serious spinal stenosis because the over-distraction of the interspinous process by the SMID would lead to overloading the anterior annulus which is a recognized cause of disc degeneration. | Shengnai Zheng Qingqiang Yao Li Cheng Yan Xu Peng Yuan Dongsheng Zhang Xiangwen Liao Liming Wang | 2010 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2010,24,2: | 2
Unsupervised Change Detection in Multitemporal SAR Images Using MRF Models显示文摘An unsupervised change-detection method that considers the spatial contextual information in a log-ratio difference image generated from multitemporal SAR images is proposed. A Markov random filed (MRF) model is particularly employed to exploit statistical spatial correlation of intensity levels among neighboring pixels. Under the assumption of the independency of pixels and mixed Gaussian distribution in the log-ratio difference image, a stochastic and iterative EM-MPM change-detection algorithm based on an MRF model is developed. The EM-MPM algorithm is based on a maximiser of posterior marginals (MPM) algorithm for image segmentation and an expectation-maximum (EM) algorithm for parameter estimation in a completely automatic way. The experiment results obtained on multitemporal ERS-2 SAR images show the effectiveness of the proposed method. | JIANG Liming LIAO Mingsheng ZHANG Lu LIN Hui | 2007 | Geo-Spatial Information Science2007,10,2: | 2

Laser-driven plasma collider for nuclear studies显示文摘A novel method of initiating nuclear fusion reactions in a full plasma environment was suggested, and a proof-of-concept experiment was carried out with the D t D ! n t3 He reaction. In this new approach, two plasma jets generated by high-intensity lasers collide headon-head. The center-of-mass energy of the nuclei increases accordingly, and therefore, reaction products can be significantly enhanced, especially in the sub-Coulomb barrier ranges. As a result of the fusion reaction, up to 7:6 105 neutrons had been observed. This new type of ‘‘plasma collider'' could provide an innovative tool to study nuclear reactions under astrophysical conditions. | Changbo Fu Jie Bao Liming Chen Jianjun He Long Hou Liang Li Yanfei Li Yutong Li Guoqian Liao Yongjoo Rhee Yang Sun Shiwei Xu Dawei Yuan Xiaopeng Zhang Gang Zhao Jiarui Zhao Baojun Zhu Jianqiang Zhu Jie Zhang | 2015 | Science Bulletin2015,60,13: | 2

Metabolic interventions combined with CTLA-4 and PD-1/PD-L1 blockade for the treatment of tumors:mechanisms and strategies显示文摘Immunotherapies based on immune checkpoint blockade(ICB)have significantly improved patient outcomes and offered new approaches to cancer therapy over the past decade. To date, immune checkpoint inhibitors(ICIs)of CTLA-4 and PD-1/PD-L1 represent the main class of immunotherapy.Blockade of CTLA-4 and PD-1/PD-L1 has shown remarkable efficacy in several specific types of cancers, however,a large subset of refractory patients presents poor responsiveness to ICB therapy;and the underlying mechanism remains elusive.Recently, numerous studies have revealed that metabolic reprogramming of tumor cells restrains immune responses by remodeling the tumor microenvironment(TME)with various products of metabolism, and combination therapies involving metabolic inhibitors and ICIs provide new approaches to cancer therapy.Nevertheless,a systematic summary is lacking regarding the manner by which different targetable metabolic pathways regulate immune checkpoints to overcome ICI resistance. Here,we demonstrate the generalized mechanism of targeting cancer metabolism at three crucial immune checkpoints(CTLA-4,PD-1,and PD-L1)to influence ICB therapy and propose potential combined immunotherapeutic strategies co-targeting tumor metabolic pathways and immune checkpoints. | Liming Liao Huilin Xu Yuhan Zhao Xiaofeng Zheng | 2023 | Frontiers of Medicine2023,17,5: | 1
Asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic infection in Coronavirus Disease 2019 pandemic显示文摘With the presence of Coronavirus Disease 2019(COVID-19)asymptomatic infections detected, their proportion, transmission potential, and other aspects such as immunity and related emerging challenges have attracted people’s attention. We have found that based on highquality research, asymptomatic infections account for at least one-third of the total cases, whereas based on systematic review and meta-analysis,the proportion is about one-fifth.Evaluating the true transmission potential of asymptomatic cases is difficult but critical, since it may affect national policies in response to COVID-19.We have summarized the current evidence and found, compared with symptomatic cases, the transmission capacity of asymptomatic individuals is weaker, even though they have similar viral load and relatively short virus shedding duration. As the outbreak progresses, asymptomatic infections have also been found to develop long COVID-19.In addition, the role of asymptomatic infection in COVID-19 remains to be further revealed as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)variants continue to emerge.Nevertheless,as asymptomatic infections transmit the SARS-CoV-2 virus silently, they still pose a substantial threat to public health. Therefore,it is essential to conduct screening to obtain more knowledge about the asymptomatic infections and to detect them as soon as possible;meanwhile, management of them is also a key point in the fight against COVID-19 community transmission. The different management of asymptomatic infections in various countries are compared and the experience in China is displayed in detail. | Yutong Wang Ke Zheng Wenjing Gao Jun Lv Canqing Yu Lan Wang Zijun Wang Bo Wang Chunxiao Liao Liming Li | 2022 | Medical Review2022,2,1: | 0
Hot-Casting Large-Grain Perovskite Film for Efficient Solar Cells:Film Formation and Device Performance显示文摘Organic-inorganic metal halide perovskite solar cells(PSCs) have recently been considered as one of the most competitive contenders to commercial silicon solar cells in the photovoltaic field. The deposition process of a perovskite film is one of the most critical factors affecting the quality of the film formation and the photovoltaic performance.A hot-casting technique has been widely implemented to deposit high-quality perovskite films with large grain size, uniform thickness, and preferred crystalline orientation. In this review,we first review the classical nucleation and crystal growth theory and discuss those factors affecting the hot-casted perovskite film formation.Meanwhile, the effects of the deposition parameters such as temperature, thermal annealing, precursor chemistry, and atmosphere on the preparation of high-quality perovskite films and high-efficiency PSC devices are comprehensively discussed. The excellent stability of hot-casted perovskite films and integration with scalable deposition technology are conducive to the commercialization of PSCs.Finally, some open questions and future perspectives on the maturity of this technology toward the upscaling deposition of perovskite film for related optoelectronic devices are presented. | Kejun Liao Chengbo Li Lisha Xie Yuan Yuan Shurong Wang Zhiyuan Cao Liming Ding Feng Hao | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,11: | 0
Achieving ultrahigh electrochemical performance by surface design and nanoconfined water manipulation显示文摘The effects of nanoconfined water and the charge storage mechanism are crucial to achieving the ultrahigh electrochemical performance of two-dimensional transition metal carbides(MXenes). We propose a facile method to manipulate nanoconfined water through surface chemistry modification. By introducing oxygen and nitrogen surface groups, more active sites were created for TiCMXene, and the interlayer spacing was significantly increased by accommodating three-layer nanoconfined water. Exceptionally high capacitance of 550 F g(2000 F cm) was obtained with outstanding high-rate performance. The atomic scale elucidation of the layer-dependent properties of nanoconfined water and pseudocapacitive charge storage was deeply probed through a combination of ‘computational and experimental microscopy’. We believe that an understanding of, and a manipulation strategy for, nanoconfined water will shed light on ways to improve the electrochemical performance of MXene and other two-dimensional materials. | Haisheng Li Kui Xu Pohua Chen Youyou Yuan Yi Qiu Ligang Wang Liu Zhu Xiaoge Wang Guohong Cai Liming Zheng Chun Dai Deng Zhou Nian Zhang Jixin Zhu Jinglin Xie Fuhui Liao Hailin Peng Yong Peng Jing Ju Zifeng Lin Junliang Sun | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,6: | 0
The construction and optimization of engineered yeast chassis for efficient biosynthesis of 8-hydroxygeraniol显示文摘Microbial production of monoterpenoid indole alkaloids(MIAs)provides a sustainable and eco-friendly means to obtain compounds with high pharmaceutical values. However, efficient biosynthesis of MIAs in heterologous microorganisms is hindered due to low supply of key precursors such as geraniol and its derivative 8-hydroxygeraniol catalyzed by geraniol 8-hydroxylase(G8H).In this study,we developed a facile evolution platform to screen strains with improved yield of geraniol by using the SCRaMbLE system embedded in the Sc2.0 synthetic yeast and confirmed the causal role of relevant genomic targets.Through genome mining,we identified several G8H enzymes that perform much better than the commonly used CrG8H for 8-hydroxygeraniol production in vivo.We further showed that the N-terminus of these G8H enzymes plays an important role in cellular activity by swapping experiments. Finally, the combination of the engineered chassis, optimized biosynthesis pathway, and utilization of G8H led to the final strain with more than 30-fold improvement in producing 8-hydroxygeraniol compared with the starting strain.Overall, this study will provide insights into the construction and optimization of yeast cells for efficient biosynthesis of 8-hydroxygeraniol and its derivatives. | Yu Zhang Mengdi Yuan Xinxin Wu Qiuhui Zhang Yuzhu Wang Liming Zheng Tsan-Yu Chiu Huiming Zhang Lei Lan Feng Wang Ying Liao Xuemei Gong Shirui Yan Yun Wang Yue Shen Xian Fu | 2023 | mLife2023,2,4: | 0
Effects of long-term estrogen replacement therapy on beta-amyloid precursor protein and mRNA expression in ovariectomized rat hippocampus显示文摘BACKGROUND: In vitro cultures of neural stem cells have shown that estrogen can regulate beta-amyloid precursor protein (β-APP) metabolism and reduce amyloid-beta production. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of long-term oral administration of compound nylestriol or low-dose 17beta-estradiol on β-APP and mRNA expression in the hippocampus of ovariectomized (OVX) rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: This randomized and controlled experiment was performed at the Animal Laboratory and Laboratory of Endocrine and Metabolic Disease, Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University between April 2003 and May 2004. MATERIALS: According to body mass, 50 six-month-old female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups (n = 10 per group): normal control, sham operation, OVX model, 17beta-estradiol (Sigma, USA), and compound nylestriol tablet (Laboratory of Endocrine and Metabolic Disease, Xiangya Second Hospital of Central South University) groups. METHODS: Rats in OVX plus 17beta-estradiol and OVX plus compound nylestriol tablet groups underwent ovariectomy. On the second day after surgery, rats were intragastrically given 17beta-estradiol (100 μg/kg), once per day or compound nylestriol tablet (0.5 mg/kg) and levonorgestrel (0.15 mg/kg) every 2 days. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: β-APP expression in the hippocampus of OVX rats was determined using immunohistochemistry (SABC method) and β-APP mRNA expression was analyzed by in situ hybridization. The results were quantitatively analyzed using cell counting and average optical density. RESULTS: The number and optical density of β-APP-positive neurons in every subregion of the hippocampus of OVX rats was dramatically increased compared with normal and sham operation groups following 35 weeks of administration (P < 0.05). Levels of β-APP were decreased following oral administration of compound nylestriol or 17beta-estradiol. In situ hybridization showed that long-term estrogen deficiency and oral administration of compound nylestriol or 17beta-estradiol did not alter the number of β-APP mRNA-positive neurons. CONCLUSION: The results show that long-term estrogen deficiency results in an increase of expression of β-APP though no changes in the expression of β-APP mRNA are detected. Replacement of estrogen with low-dose 17 beta-estradiol or compound nylestriol tablet inhibits the expression of β-APP in the hippocampus to the same extent. | Bo Jiang Eryuan Liao Liming Tan Ruchun Dai Zhijie Xiao | 2009 | Neural Regeneration Research2009,4,1: | 0

In-orbit performance of ME onboard Insight-HXMT in the first 5 years显示文摘Introduction The medium-energy X-ray telescope(ME)is a collimated X-ray telescope onboard the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT)satellite.It has 1728 Si-PIN pixels readout using 54 low noise application-specific integrated circuits(ASICs).ME covers the energy range of 5–30 keV and has a total detection area of 952cm2.The typical energy resolution of ME at the beginning of the mission is 3 keV at 17.8 keV(full width at half maximum,FWHM),and the time resolution is 255μs.In this study,we present the in-orbit performance of ME in its first 5 years of operation. Methods The performance of ME was monitored using onboard radioactive sources and astronomical X-ray objects.ME carries six 241Am radioactive sources for onboard calibration, which can continuously illuminate the calibration pixels. The long-term performance evolution of ME can be quantified using the properties of the accumulated spectra of the calibration pixels. In addition, observations of the Crab Nebula and the pulsar were used to check the long-term evolution of the detection efficiency as a function of energy. Conclusion After 5 years of operation,742cm2 of the Si-PIN pixelswere stillworking normally. The peak positions of 241Am emission lines gradually shifted to the high-energy region, implying a slow increase in ME gain of 1.43%.A comparison of the ME spectra of the Crab Nebula and the pulsar shows that the E–C relations and the redistribution matrix file are still acceptable for most data analysis works, and there is no detectable variation in the detection efficiency. | Ying Tan Xuelei Cao Weichun Jiang Xiaobo Li Bin Meng Wanchang Zhang Sheng Yang Tao Luo Yudong Gu Liang Sun Xiaojing Liu Yuanyuan Du Jiawei Yang Yanjun Xu Jinyuan Liao Yupeng Xu Fangjun Lu Liming Song Shuangnan Zhang | 2023 | Radiation Detection Technology and Methods2023,7,1: | 0
