1Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. 2The enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP显示文摘In this paper we present the enhanced X-ray Timing and Polarimetry mission—eXTP. eXTP is a space science mission designed to study fundamental physics under extreme conditions of density, gravity and magnetism. The mission aims at determining the equation of state of matter at supra-nuclear density, measuring effects of QED, and understanding the dynamics of matter in strong-field gravity. In addition to investigating fundamental physics, eXTP will be a very powerful observatory for astrophysics that will provide observations of unprecedented quality on a variety of galactic and extragalactic objects. 3The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components.The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. 4Myofiber necroptosis promotes muscle stem cell proliferation via releasing Tenascin-C during regeneration显示文摘Necroptosis,a form of programmed cell death,is characterized by the loss of membrane integrity and release of intracellular contents,the execution of which depends on the membrane-disrupting activity of the Mixed Lineage Kinase Domain-Like protein(MLKL)upon its phosphorylation.Here we found myofibers committed MLKL-dependent necroptosis after muscle injury.Either pharmacological inhibition of the necroptosis upstream kinase Receptor Interacting Protein Kinases 1(RIPK1)or genetic ablation of MLKL expression in myofibers led to significant muscle regeneration defects.By releasing factors into the muscle stem cell(MuSC)microenvironment,necroptotic myofibers facilitated muscle regeneration.Tenascin-C(TNC),released by necroptotic myofibers,was found to be critical for MuSC proliferation.The temporary expression of TNC in myofibers is tightly controlled by necroptosis;the extracellular release of TNC depends on necroptotic membrane rupture.TNC directly activated EGF receptor(EGFR)signaling pathway in MuSCs through its N-terminus assembly domain together with the EGF-like domain.These findings indicate that necroptosis plays a key role in promoting MuSC proliferation to facilitate muscle regeneration.Shen'ao Zhou Wei Zhang Gaihong Cai Yingzhe Ding Caixia Wei Sheng Li Yu Yang Jie Qin Dan Liu Hao Zhang Xiexiang Shao Jianhua Wang Hongye Wang Wenjun Yang Huating Wang She Chen Ping Hu Liming Sun 2020Cell Research2020,30,12:4

6Sheltering effect of punched steel plate sand fences for controlling blown sand hazards along the Golmud-Korla Railway:Field observation and numerical simulation studies显示文摘Sand fences made of punched steel plate(PSP)have recently been applied to control wind-blown sand in desertified and Gobi areas due to their strong wind resistance and convenient in situ construction.However,few studies have assessed the protective effect of PSP sand fences,especially through field observations.This study analyzes the effects of double-row PSP sand fences on wind and sand resistance using field observations and a computational fluid dynamics(CFD)numerical simulation.The results of field observations showed that the average windproof efficiencies of the first-row and second-row sand fences were 79.8%and 70.8%,respectively.Moreover,the average windproof efficiencies of the numerical simulation behind the first-row and second-row sand fences were 89.8%and 81.1%,respectively.The sand-resistance efficiency of the double-row PSP sand fences was 65.4%.Sand deposition occurred close to the first-row sand fence;however,there was relatively little sand on the leeward side of the second-row sand fence.The length of sand accumulation near PSP sand fences obtained by numerical simulation was basically consistent with that through field observations,indicating that field observations combined with numerical simulation can provide insight into the complex wind-blown sand field over PSP sand fences.This study indicates that the protection efficiency of the double-row PSP sand fences is sufficient for effective control of sand hazards associated with extremely strong wind in the Gobi areas.The output of this work is expected to improve the future application of PSP sand fences.ZHANG Kai TIAN Jianjin QU Jianjun ZHAO Liming LI Sheng 2022Journal of Arid Land2022,14,6:3
7Overview to the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT) Satellite显示文摘As China’s first X-ray astronomical satellite, the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (HXMT), which was dubbed as Insight-HXMT after the launch on June 15, 2017, is a wide-band(1-250 ke V) slat-collimator-based X-ray astronomy satellite with the capability of all-sky monitoring in 0.2-3 Me V. 13Combustion synthesis of mesoporous CoAl_(2)O_(4)for peroxymonosulfate activation to degrade organic pollutants显示文摘A mesoporous cobalt aluminate(CoAl_(2)O_(4))spinel is synthesized through a combustion method and adopted for the activation of peroxymonosulfate(PMS)to degrade organic pollutants.Multiple characterization procedures are conducted to investigate the morphology and physicochemical properties of the CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel.Due to its mesoporous structure,large surface area,and high electrical conductivity,the obtained CoAl_(2)O_(4)exhibits remarkable catalytic activity for Rhodamine B(RhB)degradation.Its RhB degradation rate is 89.0 and 10.5 times greater than those of Co_(3)O_(4) and CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel prepared by a precipitation method,respectively.Moreover,the mesoporous CoAl_(2)O_(4)spinel demonstrates a broad operating pH range and excellent recyclability.The influence of several parameters(catalyst amount,PMS concentration,initial p H,and coexisting inorganic anions)on the oxidation of RhB is evaluated.Through quenching tests and electron paramagnetic resonance experiments,sulfate radicals are identified as the predominant reactive species in RhB degradation.This paper provides new insights for the development of efficient,stable,and reusable cobalt-based heterogeneous catalysts and promotes the application of persulfate activation technology for the treatment of refractory organic wastewater.Sheng Guo Huiling Tang Liming You Huali Zhang Jun Li Kun Zhou 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,9:1

19Efficient synthesis of tyrosol from L-tyrosine via heterologous Ehrlich pathway in Escherichia coli显示文摘For the efficient conversion of L-tyrosine(L-Tyr)to tyrosol,which is an aromatic compound widely used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries,a novel four-enzyme cascade pathway based on the Ehrlich pathway of Saccharomyces cerevisiae was designed and reconstructed in Escherichia coli.Then,the expression levels of the relevant enzymes were coordinated using a modular approach and gene duplication after the identification of the pyruvate decarboxylase from Candida tropicalis(CtPDC)as the rate-limiting enzymatic step.In situ product removal(ISPR)strategy with XAD4 resins was explored to avoid product inhibition and further improve tyrosol yield.As a result,the titer and conversion rate of tyrosol obtained were 35.7 g·L^(-1) and 93.6%,respectively,in a 3-L bioreactor.Results presented here provide a potential enzymatic process for industrial production of tyrosol from cheap amino acids.Xiaobo Ruan Sheng Zhang Wei Song Jia Liu Xiulai Chen Liming Liu Jing Wu 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,7:1
20Unbiased transcriptomic analyses reveal distinet effects of immune deficiency in CNS function with and without injury显示文摘The mammalian central nervous system (CNS) is considered an immune privileged system as it is separated from the periphery by the blood brain barrier (BBB). Yet, immune functions have been postulated to heavily influence the functional state of the CNS, especially after injury or during neurodegeneration. There is controversy regarding whether adaptive immune responses are beneficial or detrimental to CNS injury repair. In this study, we utilized immunocompromised SCID mice and subjected them to spinal cord injury (SCI). We analyzed motor function, electrophysiology, histochemistry, and performed unbiased RNA-sequencing. SCID mice displayed improved CNS functional recovery compared to WT mice after SCI. Weighted gene-coexpression network analysis (WGCNA) of spinal cord transcriptomes revealed that SCID mice had reduced expression of immune function-related genes and heightened expression of neural transmission-related genes after SCI, which was confirmed by immunohistochemical analysis and was consistent with better functional recovery. Transcriptomic analyses also indicated heightened expression of neurotransmission-related genes before injury in SCID mice, suggesting that a steady state of immune-deficiency potentially led to CNS hyper-connectivity. Consequently, SCID mice without injury demonstrated worse performance in Morris water maze test. Taken together, not only reduced inflammation after injury but also dampened steady-state immune function without injury heightened the neurotransmission program, resulting in better or worse behavioral outcomes respectively.
