1Insights on the solubilization products after combined alkaline and ultrasonic pre-treatment of sewage sludge显示文摘This work provides insights on the solubilization products after a simultaneous combination of alkaline and ultrasonic(ALK + ULS) pre-treatment of sewage sludge.Soluble chemical oxygen demand(SCOD) increased from 1200 to 11,000 mg/L after such treatment. Organics with molecular weight around 5.6 k Da were solubilized because of the synergistic effect of ultrasound and alkali. Organics with molecular weight larger than300 k Da increased from 7.8% to 60%, 16% and 42.3% after ULS, ALK and ALK + ULS treatment, respectively. Excitation emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy analysis identified soluble microbial product-like and humic acid-like matters as the main solubilization products. Sludge anaerobic biodegradability was significantly enhanced with the simultaneous application of ALK + ULS pre-treatment. ALK + ULS pre-treatment resulted in 37.8% biodegradability increase compared to the untreated sludge. 2Ubiquitination of Rheb governs growth factor-induced mTORC1 activation显示文摘Mechanistic target of rapamycin mTOR complex 1 (mTORC1)plays a key role in the integration of various environmental signals to regulate cell growth and metabolism,mTORC1 is recruited to the lysosome where it is activated by its interaction with GTP-bound Rheb GTPase.However,the regulatory mechanism of Rheb activity remains largely unknown.Here,we show that ubiquitination governs the nucleotide-bound status of Rheb.Lysosome-anchored E3 ligase RNF152 catalyzes Rheb ubiquitination and promotes its binding to the TSC complex.EGF enhances the deubiquitination of Rheb through AKT-dependent USP4 phosphorylation,leading to the release of Rheb from the TSC complex.Functionally,ubiquitination of Rheb is linked to mTORC1-mediated signaling and consequently regulates tumor growth.Thus,we propose a mechanistic model whereby Rheb-mediated mTORC1 activation is dictated by a dynamic opposing act between Rheb ubiquitination and deubiquitination that are catalyzed by RNF152 and USP4 respectively.Lu Deng Lei Chen Linlin Zhao Yan Xu Xiaoping Peng Xinbo Wang Lin Ding Jiali Jin Hongqi Teng Yanming Wang Weijuan Pan Fei Yu Lujian Liao Li Li Xin Ge Ping Wang 2019Cell Research2019,29,2:16

4Impact of ozone assisted ultrasonication pre-treatment on anaerobic digestibility of sewage sludge显示文摘Impact of ultrasonication(ULS) and ultrasonication–ozonation(ULS-Ozone) pre-treatment on the anaerobic digestibility of sewage sludge was investigated with semi-continuous anaerobic reactors at solid retention time(SRT) of 10 and 20 days. The control, ULS and ULS-Ozone reactors produced 256, 309 and 348 m L biogas/g CODfedand the volatile solid(VS) removals were 35.6%, 38.3% and 42.1%, respectively at SRT of 10 days. At SRT of20 days, the biogas yields reached 313, 337 and 393 m L biogas/g CODfedand the VS removal rates were 37.3%, 40.9% and 45.3% in the control, ULS and ULS-Ozone reactors, respectively.ULS-Ozone pre-treatment increased the residual organic amount in the digested sludge.These soluble residual organics were found to contain macromolecules with molecular weights(MW) larger than 500 k Da and smaller polymeric products with MW around 19.4and 7.7 k Da.
