Radial propagation of magnetospheric substorm-injected energetic electrons observed using a BD-IES instrument and Van Allen Probes显示文摘In cases where substorm injections can be observed simultaneously by multiple spacecraft, they can help elucidate the potential mechanisms of particle transport and energization,of great importance to understanding and modeling the magnetosphere. In this paper, using data returned from the BeiDa-IES(BD-IES) instrument onboard a satellite in an inclined(55°) geosynchronous orbit(IGSO),in combination with two geo-transfer orbiting(GTO) satellite Van Allen Probes(A and B),we analyze a substorm injection event that occurred on the 16 th of October 2015.During this substorm injection, the IGSO onboard BD-IES was outbound, while both Van Allen Probe satellites(A and B) were inbound,a configuration of multiple trajectories that provides a unique opportunity to simultaneously investigate both the inward and outward radial propagation of substorm injection.Indicated by AE/AL indices, this substorm was closely related to an IMF/solar wind discontinuity that showed a sharp change in IMF Bz direction to the north. The innermost signature of this substorm injection was detected by Van Allen Probes A and B at L-3.7,while the outermost signature was observed by the onboard BD-IES instrument at L~\0.These data indicate that the substorm had a global, rather than just local, effect. Finally,we suggest that electric fields carried by fast-mode compressional waves around the substorm injection are the most likely candidate mechanism for the electron injection signatures observed in the inner- and outermost inner magnetosphere. | ZONG QiuGang HAO YiXin ZOU Hong FU SuiYan ZHOU XuZhi REN Jie WANG LingHua YUAN ChongJing LIU ZhiYang JIA XiangHong QUAN Lin LIU Ying WANG YongFu | 2016 | Science China Earth Sciences2016,59,7: | 8
Effect of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus subtilis on fermentation, dynamics of bacterial community and their functional shifts of whole-plant corn silage显示文摘Background:Bacillus amyloliquefaciens(BA)and Bacillus subtilis(BS)are usually used as feed supplements directly or bacterial inoculants in biological feeds for animals. However, few research have reported the effects of BA and BS on fermentation characteristics and bacterial community successions of whole-plant corn silage during ensiling. If the BA and BS inoculants have positive effects on silages, then they could not only improve fermentation characteristics, but also deliver BA or BS viable cells to ruminants, which would play its probiotic effect. Therefore, the objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of BA and BS on the fermentation, chemical characteristics, bacterial community and their metabolic pathway of whole-plant corn silage. Results:Freshly chopped whole-plant corn was inoculated without or with BA and BS,respectively, and ensiled for1,3,7,14 and 60 d.Results showed that BA and BS inoculations increased lactic acid concentrations of whole-plant corn silages compared with control, and BA inoculation decreased acetic acid concentrations, whereas BS inoculation decreased fiber contents and increased crude protein(CP)content.Higher water-soluble carbohydrate contents and lower starch contents were observed in BA-and BS-inoculated silages compared with that in control. The decreased CP content and increased non-protein nitrogen content were observed in BA-inoculated silage, which was consistent with the higher amino acid metabolism abundances observed in BA-inoculated silage. In addition,it was noteworthy that BA and BS inoculations increased the metabolism of cofactors and vitamins, and decreased the relative abundances of drug resistance:antimicrobial pathways. We also found that the bacterial metabolism pathways were clearly separated into three clusters based on the ensiling times of whole-plant corn silage in the present study. There were no significant differences in bacterial community compositions among the three groups during ensiling. However,BA and BS inoculations decreased the relative abundances of undesirable bacteria such as Acetobacter and Acinetobacter. Conclusion:Our findings suggested that the BS strain was more suitable as silage inoculants than the BA strain in whole-plant corn silage in this study. | Jie Bai Marcia Franco Zitong Ding Lin Hao Wencan Ke Musen Wang Dongmei Xie Ziqian Li Yixin Zhang Lin Ai Xusheng Guo | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,3: | 5
β-catenin activation in hair follicle dermal stem cells in duces ectopic hair outgrowth and skin fibrosis显示文摘Hair follicle dermal sheath(DS)harbors hair follicle dermal stem cells(hfDSCs),which can be recruited to replenish DS and dermal papilla(DP).Cultured DS cells can differentiate into various cell lineages in vitro. However,it is unclear how its plasticity is modulated in vivo.Wnt/β-catenin signaling plays an important role in maintaining stem cells of various lineages and is required for HF development and regeneration. Here we report that activation ofβ-catenin in DS generates ectopic HF outgrowth(EF)by reprogramming HF epidermal cells and DS cells themselves, and endows DS cells with hair inducing ability.Epidermal homeostasis of pre-existing HFs is disrupted.Additionally,cell-autonomous progressive skin fibrosis is prominent in dermis, where the excessive fibroblasts largely originate from DS.Gene expression analysis of purified DS cells with activatedβ-catenin revealed significantly increased expression of Bmp,Fgf,and Notch ligands and administration of Bmp,Fgf,or Notch signaling inhibitor attenuates EF formation. In summary, our findings advance the current knowledge of high plasticity of DS cells and provide an insight into understanding how Wnt/β-catenin signaling controls DS cell behaviors. | Yixin Tao Qingchun Yang Lei Wang Jie Zhang Xuming Zhu Qianqian Sun Yunbin Han Qian Luo Yushu Wang Xizhi Guo Ji Wu Baojie Li Xiao Yang Lin He Gang Ma | 2019 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2019,11,1: | 4
Monte Carlo simulations of the sensor head of imaging energetic electron spectrometer onboard a Chinese IGSO navigation satellite显示文摘An imaging energetic electron spectrometer built by the Peking University team(BD-IES) onboard a Chinese navigation satellite in an inclined GEO orbit has been launched successfully in September 2015, which measures the spectra of the energetic electrons with the energy range of 50–600 keV in nine directions. In this study, Monte Carlo simulations of the BD-IES sensor head were performed using Geant4 and the corresponding characteristic responses to the isotropic energetic particles were derived. The effective geometric factors were estimated using the typical electron and proton spectra in the GEO orbit and the corresponding simulated sensor head responses. It was found that the average effective geometric factors of nine directions are close to the nominal geometric factors calculated with the traditional method, but the effective geometric factor decreases as the center energy of the energy channel decreases. The BD-IES sensor head also responses to the energetic protons, but the average contamination rate of all 72 channels is about 2%, which means that the proton contamination is acceptable. The spectra of the energetic electrons measured by BD-IES are derived using the effective geometric factors of the sensor head and are comparable with the spectra measured by the magnetic electron ion spectrometer(MagEIS) instrument onboard Van Allen Probes. | ZOU Hong YE YuGuang ZONG QiuGang CHEN HongFei LUO Lin ZHOU XuZhi CHEN XingRan HAO YiXin REN Jie WANG YongFu SHI WeiHong YU XiangQian JIA XiangHong XU Feng ZHANG XiaoXin | 2019 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2019,62,7: | 3
Bi-level Coordinated Planning of Active Distribution Network Considering Demand Response Resources and Severely Restricted Scenarios显示文摘Due to the uncertainty and fluctuation of distributed generation(DG)and load, the operation of active distribution network(ADN)is affected by multi-dimension factors which are described by massive operation scenarios.Efficient and accurate screening of severely restricted scenarios(SRSs)has become a new challenge in ADN planning. In this paper,a novel bi-level coordinated planning model which combines the short-time-scale operation problem with the long-time-scale planning problem is proposed. At the upper level, the demand response(DR)resource,an effective non-component planning resource characterized by low capacity price, high energy price, and short contract term,is co-optimized with the configuration of lines and energy storage systems(ESSs)to achieve the economic trade-off between the investment cost and the operation cost under SRSs.At the lower level, with the planning scheme obtained from the upper level, massive operation problems are optimized to minimize the daily operation cost;and the SRSs are provided to the upper level through a shadow-price-based scenario screening method, which simulates the planning information(i.e.,the restricted degrees of operation scenarios)feedback process from ADN operators to ADN planners.Case studies on a 62-node distribution system in Jianshan New District,Zhejiang Province,China, illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed bi-level coordinated planning model considering DR resources and SRSs. | Huang Yixin Lin Zhenzhi Liu Xinyi Yang Li Dan Yangqing Zhu Yanwei Ding Yi Wang Qin | 2021 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2021,9,5: | 3
A comprehensive analysis of the Bencao(herbal)small RNA Atlas reveals novel RNA therapeutics for treating human diseases显示文摘Cross-kingdom herbal mi RNA was first reported in 2012.Using a modified herbal extraction protocol,we obtained 73,677,287sequences by RNA-seq from 245 traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM),of which 20,758,257 were unique sequences. We constructed a Bencao(herbal)small RNA(s RNA)Atlas(http://gffzz4a3adbfa122d4a47hk5unuvb000596cqu.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn),annotated the sequences by sequence-based clustering, and created a nomenclature system for Bencao s RNAs.The profiles of 21,757 mi RNAs in the Atlas were highly consistent with those of plant mi RNAs in mi RBase.Using software tools, our results demonstrated that all human genes might be regulated by s RNAs from the Bencao s RNA Atlas, part of the predicted human target genes were experimentally validated, suggesting that Bencao s RNAs might be one of the main bioactive components of herbal medicines. We established roadmaps for oligonucleotide drugs development and optimization of TCM prescriptions. Moreover, the decoctosome,a lipo-nano particle consisting of 0.5%–2.5%of the decoction, demonstrated potent medical effects. We propose a Bencao(herbal)Index, including small-molecule compounds(SM),protein peptides(P),nucleic acid(N),non-nucleic and non-proteinogenic large-molecule compounds(LM)and elements from Mendeleev's periodic table(E),to quantitatively measure the medical effects of botanic medicine. The Bencao s RNA Atlas is a resource for developing gene-targeting oligonucleotide drugs and optimizing botanical medicine, and may provide potential remedies for the theory and practice of one medicine. | Yinghao Cao Yexuan Lin Na Sun Xinyi Du Yixin Dong Song Mei Xingyu Deng Xiaobei Li Shaoting Guo Kegong Tang Jiaqi Liu Xiangyu Qiao Dandan Zhao Yuhao Qin Cong Zhang Tianyi Xin Xiaohu Shi Congzhao Zhou Tao Dong De-an Guo Benedikt MKessler Dong Xu Jingyuan Song Fengming Huang Xiaoyue Wang Chengyu Jiang | 2023 | Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,10: | 2
Enhancing hydrogen evolution on the basal plane of transition metal dichacolgenide van der Waals heterostructures显示文摘Recent years have seen a surge in the use of low-dimensional transition metal dichacolgenides, such as MoS_(2),as catalysts for the electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction. In particular, sulfur vacancies in MoS_(2)can activate the inert basal plane, but that requires an unrealistically high defect concentration(~9%)to achieve optimal activity. In this work,we demonstrate by firstprinciples calculations that assembling van der Waals heterostructures can enhance the catalytic activity of MoS_(2)with low concentrations of sulfur vacancies. We integrate MoS_(2)with various two-dimensional nanostructures, including graphene,h-BN,phosphorene,transition metal dichacolgenides,MXenes, and their derivatives, aiming to fine-tune the free energy of atomic hydrogen adsorption.Remarkably,an optimal free energy can be achieved for a low sulfur vacancy concentration of~2.5%in the MoS_(2)/MXene-OH heterostructure,as well as high porosity and tunability. These results demonstrate the potential of combining two-dimensional van der Waals assembly with defect engineering for efficient hydrogen production. | Faling Ling Wei Kang Huirong Jing Wen Zeng Yankun Chen Xiaoqing Liu Yixin Zhang Lin Qi Liang Fang Miao Zhou | 2019 | npj Computational Materials2019,,1: | 2
Investigation of plasmonic whispering gallery modes of graphene equilateral triangle nanocavities显示文摘In this paper, a graphene-based equilateral triangle nanocavity is proposed and numerically investigated. The relationship between the mode characteristics and the nanocavity parameters, such as the geometry of nanocavity and the chemical potential of graphene, is systematically explored. A high-order plasmonic WGM(whispering gallery mode) with a high quality factor of 147.93 is obtained in our nanocavity with a wavelength of around 1.415 μm in free space, with a corresponding Purcell factor as high as 7.067×108. The proposed plasmonic WGM nanocavity could be a key component of the high density plasmonic integrated circuits due to its ultra-compactness and performances. | Yixin HUANG Weibin QIU Shangxin LIN Jing ZHAO Houbo CHEN Jia-Xian WANG Qiang KAN Jiao-Qing PAN | 2016 | Science China(Information Sciences)2016,59,4: | 2
Plasma N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide levels in elderly patients with isolated diastolic dysfunction显示文摘To investigate plasma N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-BNP) levels and to assess their clinical significance in elderly patients with isolated diastolic dysfunction. Methods Plasma NT-BNP level were measured by electrochemiluminescence immunoassay in 34 symptomatic patients (Group 1), 34 asymptomatic patients (Group 2) with isolated diastolic dysfunction, and in 16elderly healthy subjects (control group, Group 3), serving controls. Colored Doppler echocardiography was performed to evaluate the patients' cardiac structures and functions. Results The plasma NT-BNP level in Group 1 was significantly higher than those in Group 2 and Group 3 and increased with the severity of heart failure. There was no significant difference of plasma NT-BNP levels between Group 2 and Group 3 (p>0.05). A NT-BNP value of 102.75 pg/mL showed a sensitivity of 88.2%, a specificity of 87.5%, and an accuracy of 88.1% for diagnosing diastolic dysfunction. Patients with restrictive filling pattern on echocardiography had higher NTBNP levels than those of impaired relaxation pattern (1961.2±304.9 versus 460. 1±92.7pg/mL, p<0.001). Conclusion The elevation of plasma NT-BNP level in elderly patients with isolated diastolic dysfunction correlates with the severity of their diastolic abnormalities. The level of plasma NT-BNP has an important clinical value in the diagnosis of elderly patients with isolated diastolic dysfunction. | Yixin SONG Qing LIN Xiaomin SHI Yunyun QI | 2005 | Journal of Geriatric Cardiology2005,2,4: | 2
Gene regulatory network stabilized by pervasive weak repressions: micro RNA functions revealed by the May–Wigner theory显示文摘Food web and gene regulatory networks(GRNs)are large biological networks, both of which can be analyzed using the May-Wigner theory.According to the theory, networks as large as mammalian GRNs would require dedicated gene products for stabilization. We propose that microRNAs(miRNAs)are those products.More than 30%of genes are repressed by miRNAs,but m ost repressions are too weak to have a phenotypic consequence. The theory shows that(i)weak repressions cumulatively enhance the stability of GRNs,and(ii)broad and weak repressions confer greater stability than a few strong ones.Hence, the diffuse actions of miRNAs in mammalian cells appear to function mainly in stabilizing GRNs.The postulated link between mRNA repression and GRN stability can be seen in a different light in yeast, which do not have miRNAs.Yeast cells rely on non-specific RNA nucleases to strongly degrade mRNAs for GRN stability. The strategy is suited to GRNs of small and rapidly dividing yeast cells, but not the larger mammalian cells. In conclusion, the May-W igner theory, supplanting the analysis of small motifs, provides a mathematical solution to GRN stability, thus linking miRNAs explicitly to‘developmental canalization’. | Yuxin Chen Yang Shen Pei Lin Ding Tong Yixin Zhao Stefano Allesina Xu Shen Chung-I Wu | 2019 | National Science Review2019,6,6: | 2
