2Science and Prediction of Heavy Rainfall over China:Research Progress since the Reform and Opening-Up of New China显示文摘This paper reviews the major progress on development of the science and prediction of heavy rainfall over China since the beginning of the reform and opening-up of new China(roughly between 1980 and 2019).The progress of research on the physical mechanisms of heavy rainfall over China is summarized from three perspectives:1)the relevant synoptic weather systems,2)heavy rainfall in major sub-regions of China,and 3)heavy rainfall induced by typhoons.The development and application of forecasting techniques for heavy rainfall are summarized in terms of numerical weather prediction techniques and objective forecasting methods.Greatly aided by the rapid progress in meteorological observing technology and substantial improvement in electronic computing,studies of heavy rainfall in China have advanced to investigating the evolution of heavy-rain-producing storms and observational analysis of the cloud microphysical features.A deeper and more systematic understanding of the synoptic systems of importance to the production of heavy rainfall has also been developed.Operational forecast of heavy rainfall in China has changed from subjective weather event forecasts to a combination of both subjective and objective quantitative precipitation forecasts,and is now advancing toward probabilistic quantitative precipitation forecasts with the provision of forecast uncertainty information.Yali LUO Jisong SUN Ying LI Rudi XIA Yu DU Shuai YANG Yuanchun ZHANG Jing CHEN Kan DAI Xueshun SHEN Haoming CHEN Feifan ZHOU Yimin LIU Shenming FU Mengwen WU Tiangui XIAO Yangruixue CHEN Huiqi LI Mingxin LI 2020Journal of Meteorological Research2020,34,3:10
3Investigation of the Vortex Dynamic Mechanism of the Flow Losses on a Transonic Compressor Stator显示文摘For a transonic axial-flow compressor, the numerical simulations, verified against experimental data, were used to study the inherent correlation between the evolutionary process of the vortex structures and the flow loss in a compressor stator passage during the throttling process. The flow loss was divided accurately and quantitatively, based on the evolutionary process of the vortex structures. According to the position of the singular points of the vortex structures, the influence of the evolution of the vortex structures on the generation and development of the flow loss was analyzed on a microscale scale. Thereafter, this paper provided the vortex dynamic mechanism of the flow loss, which was important to enrich the theoretical system of the flow field in the compressor. The results show that: the flow loss at the top of the stator tip is caused by the low-energy fluid clusters, which are transported and accumulated by the vortices from the endwall; the transport effect of the pressure separation vortex at the upper half-height only migrates the position of the flow losses, but there is new flow loss generated by its shear action to the endwall. 4BIGpre: A Quality Assessment Package for Next-Generation Sequencing Data显示文摘The emergence of next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies has significantly improved sequencing throughput and reduced costs. However, the short read length, duplicate reads and massive volume of data make the data processing much more difficult and complicated than the first-generation sequencing technology. Although there are some software packages developed to assess the data quality, those packages either are not easily available to users or require bioinformatics skills and computer resources. Moreover, almost all the quality assessment software currently available didn't taken into account the sequencing errors when dealing with the duplicate assessment in NGS data. Here, we present a new user-friendly quality assessment software package called BIGpre, which works for both Illumina and 454 platforms. BIGpre contains all the functions of other quality assessment software, such as the correlation between forward and reverse reads, read GC-content distribution, and base Ns quality. More importantly, BIGpre incorporates associated programs to detect and remove duplicate reads after taking sequencing errors into account and trimming low quality reads from raw data as well. BIGpre is primarily written in Perl and integrates graphical capability from the statistics package R. This package produces both tabular and graphical summaries of data quality for sequencing datasets from Illumina and 454 platforms. Processing hundreds of millions reads within minutes, this package provides immediate diagnostic information for user to manipulate sequencing data for downstream analyses. 7Efficient catalytic removal of COS and H_(2)S over graphitized 2D micro-meso-macroporous carbons endowed with ample nitrogen sites synthesized via mechanochemical carbonization显示文摘Developing a suitable catalyst for the elimination of highly toxic carbonyl sulfide(COS)and hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S) is of great significance in terms of industrial safety and environmental protection.We demonstrate here the facile synthesis of graphitized 2D micro-meso-macroporous carbons by one-step carbonization of a mixture of urea and glucose at 700–900℃.The as-synthesized graphitized catalysts,designated as 2DNHPC-x(x=urea/glucose mass ratio),are endowed with an ultra-high concentration(12.9–20.2 wt%)of stable and versatile nitrogen sites(e.g.pyrrole and pyridine)which are anchored on the surface via stable covalent bonding.As a result,the 2D-NHPC-x are active in catalytic hydrolysis of COS on pyrrolic N to H_(2)S,and the H_(2)S can be subsequently captured on pyridinic N and converted to elemental sulfur at ambient conditions over the same materials.Among the prepared catalysts,2D-NHPC-x can catalytically hydrolysize 91%of COS to H_(2)S at 30℃,whereas the conversion ratio over the common catalysts g-C_(3)N_(4)and Fe_(2)O_(3)are below 6.0%.Furthermore,these catalysts also exhibit H_(2)S conversion and sulfur selectivity of nearly 100%at 180℃with long-time durability,which is higher than those of the most reported carbonbased catalysts.In contrast,the H_(2)S capacities of activated carbon,ordered mesoporous carbons(OMC)and N-doped OMC are 3.9,1.5 and2.39 mmol g^(-1),respectively.Both the experimental and theoretical results are disclosed that 2D-NHPC-x are superior to the nitrogen-doped porous materials ever applied in simultaneous catalytic elimination of both COS and H_(2)S.Xun Kan Guanqing Zhang Yingying Luo Fujian Liu Yong Zheng Yihong Xiao Yanning Cao Chak-tong Au Shijing Liang Lilong Jiang 2022Green Energy & Environment2022,7,5:1

18Delivery of an Rhs-family nuclease effector reveals direct penetration of the gram-positive cell envelope by a type VI secretion system in Acidovorax citrulli显示文摘The type VI secretion system(T6SS)is a double-tubular nanomachine widely found in gram-negative bacteria.Its spear-like Hcp tube is capable of penetrating a neighboring cell for cytosol-to-cytosol protein delivery.However,gram-positive bacteria have been considered impenetrable to such T6SS action.Here we report that the T6SS of a plant pathogen,Acidovorax citrulli(AC),could deliver an Rhsfamily nuclease effector RhsB to kill not only gram-negative but also gram-positive bacteria.Using bioinformatic,biochemical,and genetic assays,we systematically identified T6SS-secreted effectors and determined that RhsB is a crucial antibacterial effector.RhsB contains an N-terminal PAAR domain,a middle Rhs domain,and an unknown C-terminal domain.RhsB is subject to self-cleavage at both its N-and C-terminal domains and its secretion requires the upstream-encoded chaperone EagT2 and VgrG3.The toxic Cterminus of RhsB exhibits DNase activities and such toxicity is neutralized by either of the two downstream immunity proteins,RimB1 and RimB2.Deletion of rhsB significantly impairs the ability of killing Bacillus subtilis while ectopic expression of immunity proteins RimB1 or RimB2 confers protection.We demonstrate that the AC T6SS not only can effectively outcompete Escherichia coli and B.subtilis in planta but also is highly potent in killing other bacterial and fungal species.Collectively,these findings highlight the greatly expanded capabilities of T6SS in modulating microbiome compositions in complex environments.Tong-Tong Pei Yumin Kan Zeng-Hang Wang Ming-Xuan Tang Hao Li Shuangquan Yan Yang Cui Hao-Yu Zheng Han Luo Xiaoye Liang Tao Dong 2022mLife2022,1,1:1
