1Effect of wastewater COD/N ratio on aerobic nitrifying sludge granulation and microbial population shift显示文摘The effect of COD/N ratio on the granulation process and microbial population succession was investigated.Four identical sequencing batch reactors,R1,R2,R3 and R4,were operated with various initial COD/N ratios ranging from 0/200 to 800/200(m/m).Ethanol was fed as the source of COD.Aerobic granules were successfully cultivated in R2 and R3,operating with the COD/N ratio of 200/200 and 400/200,respectively.Scanning electron microscope observations indicated that short rod-shaped and spherical bacteria were dominant in R2,while granules produced in R3 were surrounded with a large amount of filamentous bacteria.The average specific nitritation rate in R2 and R3 were 0.019 and 0.008 mg N/(mg MLVSS.hr),respectively.Fluorescence in situ hybridization results demonstrated that nitrifying bacteria population was enriched remarkably in R2.It indicated that nitrification ability and nitrifying bacteria population were enriched remarkably at low COD/N ratio.However,no granules were formed in R1 and R4 which might attribute to either limited or excessive extracellular polymeric substances production.This study contributed to a better understanding of the role of COD/N ratio in nitrifying sludge granulation.Lei Wu Chengyao Peng Yongzhen Peng Lingyun Li Shuying Wang Yong Ma 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,2:29
2Degradation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by Pseudomonas sp.JM2 isolated from active sewage sludge of chemical plant显示文摘It is important to screen strains that can decompose polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)completely and rapidly with good adaptability for bioremediation in a local area.A bacterial strain JM2,which uses phenanthrene as its sole carbon source,was isolated from the active sewage sludge from a chemical plant in Jilin,China and identified as Pseudomonas based on 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis.Although the optimal growth conditions were determined to be pH6.0 and 37°C,JM2 showed a broad pH and temperature profile.At pH4.5 and 9.3,JM2 could degrade more than 40% of fluorene and phenanthrene(50 mg/L each) within 4days.In addition,when the temperature was as low as 4°C,JM2 could degrade up to 24% fluorene and 12% phenanthrene.This showed the potential for JM2 to be applied in bioremediation over winter or in cold regions.Moreover,a nutrient augmentation study showed that adding formate into media could promote PAH degradation,while the supplement of salicylate had an inhibitive effect.Furthermore,in a metabolic pathway study,salicylate,phthalic acid,and 9-fluorenone were detected during the degradation of fluorene or phenanthrene.In conclusion,Pseudomonas sp.JM2 is a high performance strain in the degradation of fluorene and phenanthrene under extreme pH and temperature conditions.It might be useful in the bioremediation of PAHs.Jing Ma Li Xu Lingyun Jia 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,12:11
3Investigation of mutual effects among additives in electrolyte for plasma electrolytic oxidation on magnesium alloys显示文摘Plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)coatings were prepared on AZ91D magnesium alloys in alkaline silicate-based electrolyte with and without additives.The mutual effects among additives including TiC particles,dispersant polyethylene glycol 6000(PEG6000)and anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS)were studied based on orthogonal experiment.The content and distribution of TiC deposited in the coatings were measured by EPMA and EDS.The thicknesses,phase compositions,microstructures and corrosion resistances of the codlings were cAarnined by using TT260 eddy current tuickncss gage,XRD,SEM and clcctrochcniical test,respectively.The results show that the experiment design of this study is the key to study the mutual effects among these additives.Each additive and their interactions all remarkably influence TiC content and corrosion resistance of the coatings.Smaller size TiC is much easier to migrate towards the anode,and the interaction between PEG6000 and SDS both effectively prevents its agglomeration and increases the number of its negative surface charges,which further increase the migration rate and the deposited uniformity of TiC and make TiC have more opportunity to deposit in the discharge channel.Thus,when smaller size TiC,PEG6000 and SDS are all added into the electrolyte,they could improve the anti-corrosion property of the coating to the largest extent attributed to higher TiC content and the densest microstructure of the coating.Lingyun An Ying Ma Le Sun Zhanying Wang Sheng Wang 2020Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2020,8,2:9
4Proteasome inhibition suppresses Th17 cell generation and ameliorates autoimmune development in experimental Sjögren’s syndrome显示文摘Immunoproteasome activation in immune cells is involved in the modulation of immune responses.Increasing evidence indicates that proteasome inhibitors show beneficial effects in treating autoimmune diseases,but it remains unclear whether proteasome inhibition is an effective approach for suppressing autoimmune development in Sjögren’s syndrome(SS).Our previous work has demonstrated a critical role for Th17 cells in the development of experimental SS(ESS)in mice.In this study,we detected high levels of low-molecular-weight protein 7(LMP7),a key subunit of the immunoproteasome,in Th17 cells from ESS mice.Moreover,treatment with bortezomib(BTZ),a proteasome inhibitor,markedly suppressed Th17 differentiation in both murine and human naive T cells in culture.Furthermore,ESS mice treated with BTZ displayed significantly higher saliva flow rates and a reduction in tissue destruction in the salivary glands compared with vehicle-treated ESS mice.Notably,BTZ-treated ESS mice showed markedly decreased Th17 cells,germinal center B cells and plasma cells in the peripheral lymphoid organs.In addition,adoptively transferred wild type naive CD4+T cells rapidly differentiated into Th17 cells and induced salivary dysfunction in IL-17-deficient mice immunized for ESS induction.However,BTZ treatment profoundly suppressed the donor T-cell-derived Th17 response and ameliorated the reduction in salivary secretion in IL-17-deficient recipient mice.Taken together,our findings demonstrate that proteasome inhibition can effectively ameliorate ESS by suppressing the Th17 response,which may contribute to the development of a novel therapeutic strategy for the treatment of SS.Fan Xiao Xiang Lin Jie Tian Xiaohui Wang Qian Chen Ke Rui Jie Ma Shengjun Wang Qingwen Wang Xiaoqi Wang Dongzhou Liu Lingyun Sun Liwei Lu 2017Cellular & Molecular Immunology2017,14,11:6
5Photocatalytic and Luminescent Properties of SrMoO_4 Phosphors Prepared via Hydrothermal Method with Different Stirring Speeds显示文摘To probe the potential utilities in the photocatalyst and luminescent materials,a series of SrMoO_4 samples have been prepared via the hydrothermal preparation with different stirring speeds.These SrMoO_4 samples were characterized using X-ray diffraction analysis,scanning electron microscopy,UV–diffuse reflection spectroscopy(UV–vis).It has been found that the lattice parameters and [Mo O4] tetrahedron distortion of SrMoO_4 samples are increased with the increased stirring speed in the process of hydrothermal preparation.By changing the stirring speeds,spindle and succulent-like morphologies have been obtained.UV–vis results show that the band gaps of SrMoO_4 samples are sensitive to the stirring speed.As for the luminescent and photocatalytic properties,our experimental results clearly suggest that,compared with those samples without stirring,the luminescent and photocatalytic activities are enhanced with stirring in the hydrothermal preparation.The photodegradation of methyl blue(MB) over SrMoO_4 system increases from 30% to 50% with stirring,which may be related to small band gaps and porous surfaces.Our results indicate that stirring may be one important technique to improve the photocatalytic properties,especially in the process of hydrothermal method.Yanan Zhu Ganhong Zheng Zhenxiang Dai Lingyun Zhang Yongqing Ma 2017Journal of Materials Science & Technology2017,33,1:2

7Balancing selection and wild gene pool contribute to resistance in global rice germplasm against planthopper显示文摘Interactions and co-evolution between plants and herbivorous insects are critically important in agriculture.Brown planthopper(BPH)is the most severe insect of rice,and the biotypes adapt to feed on different rice genotypes.Here,we present genomics analyses on 1,520 global rice germplasms for resistance to three BPH biotypes.Genome-wide association studies identified 3,502 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)and 59 loci associated with BPH resistance in rice.We cloned a previously unidentified gene Bph37 that confers resistance to BPH.The associated loci showed high nucleotide diversity.Genome-wide scans for trans-species polymorphisms revealed ancient balancing selection at the loci.The secondarily evolved insect biotypes II and III exhibited significantly higher virulence and overcame more rice varieties than the primary biotype I.In response,more SNPs and loci evolved in rice for resistance to biotypes II and III.Notably,three exceptional large regions with high SNP density and resistance-associated loci on chromosomes 4 and 6 appear distinct between the resistant and susceptible rice varieties.Surprisingly,these regions in resistant rice might have been retained from wild species Oryza nivara.Our findings expand the understanding of long-term interactions between rice and BPH and provide resistance genes and germplasm resources for breeding durable BPH-resistant rice varieties.Cong Zhou Qian Zhang Yu Chen Jin Huang Qin Guo Yi Li Wensheng Wang Yongfu Qiu Wei Guan Jing Zhang Jianping Guo Shaojie Shi Di Wu Xiaohong Zheng Lingyun Nie Jiaoyan Tan Chaomei Huang Yinhua Ma Fang Yang Xiqin Fu Bo Du Lili Zhu Rongzhi Chen Zhikang Li Longping Yuan Guangcun He 2021Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2021,63,10:2

18Mild hyperthermia synergized chemotherapy by Bi_(2)Se_(3)/MoSe_(2)nanosaucers for cancer treatment with negligible thermal resistance显示文摘Harsh photothermal temperatures(>50℃)caused heating damage to the normal tissues and induced thermal resistance in cancer cells,which significantly limited the safety and efficacy of photothermal therapy(PTT)in cancer treatment.Mild hyperthermia(<42℃)combined with chemotherapy might solve this issue.Herein,a novel transition metal dichalcogenides nanostructure,namely,Bi_(2)Se_(3)/MoSe_(2)nanosaucers(BMNSs),was designed to produce mild photo-hyperthermia(mPTT)and combined with chemotherapy to improve the overall antitumor efficacy.The BMNSs were constituted by Bi_(2)Se_(3)hexagonal nanoplates and enclosed with MoSe_(2)nanosheets evenly.While the MoSe_(2)moiety endowed the nanoplatform with excellent photothermal efficacy,the Bi_(2)Se_(3)substrates provided large specific surface area to anchor more doxorubicin(DOX)molecules as chemotherapeutic agent.Under the stimuli of mPTT/tumor acidic microenvironment,the tumor-specific drug release and the enhanced chemotherapy could be realized,showing impressive therapeutic outcomes against 4T1 cells.The synergetic therapeutic mechanism might be attributed to the mPTT induced cell membrane permeability,and interestingly,the expression of heat shock proteins 70 was not elevated obviously after the synergetic therapy,thus to avoid the tumor thermal resistance and further improve the therapeutic effect.The in vivo anti-tumoral performance of the BMNSs was further studied and complete tumor eradication was achieved without any recurrence and biotoxicity.Not only demonstrating a paradigm of high therapeutic efficacy of mild hyperthermia and synergistic chemotherapy for precise cancer therapy,our findings proved that the cancer therapeutic effect can be improved with minimal side effects through exquisite designing of the microstructures and the physiochemical properties of the nanoplatform.Fei Gao Tingbin Zhang Yuqing Miao Huijun Ma Hui Guo Ruyi Jin Zhi Li Haifang Wang Haiming Fan Lingyun Zhao 2022Nano Research2022,15,9:1
