| 2 | A kinetic study of the reaction of ozone with ethylene in a smog chamber under atmospheric conditions显示文摘Ozone is one of the key species in the processes of atmospheric chemistry, which can be taken as an indicator of oxidation capacity in the troposphere. The reaction of ozone with reactive gases is an important process in the troposphere. Experimental simulation equipment of smog chamber for atmospheric reactions is used to study the reaction of ozone with ethylene in real atmospheric environment with ozone concentrations of 100―200 ppb. The concentrations of ozone and ethylene were moni-tored during the reaction with the combination of Model 49C-O_3 Analyzer and GC-FID. A rate constant of 1.01×10^(-18) (cm^3·mol^(-1)·s-(~1)) was obtained at 286.5 K, under condition of which the half-life of ozone was 88 min. The results obtained from our experiments are in excellent agreement with those reported previously by other researchers under extremely low pressure in terms of matrixisolation technology. | 3 | Hydrothermal synthesis of calcium sulfate whisker from flue gas desulfurization gypsum显示文摘Plenty of flue gas desulfurization(FGD) gypsum generated from coal-fired power plants for sulfur dioxide sequestration caused many environmental issues. Preparing calcium sulfate whisker(CSW) from FGD gypsum by hydrothermal synthesis is considered to be a promising approach to solve this troublesome problem and utilize calcium sulfate in a high-value-added way. The effects of particle size of FGD gypsum, slurry concentration,and additives on CSW were investigated in this work. The results indicated that fine particle size of FGD gypsum and moderately high slurry concentration were beneficial for crystal nucleation and growth. Three additives of magnesium chloride, citric acid, and sodium dodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) were employed in this study. It was found that mean length and aspect ratio of CSW were both decreased by the usage of magnesium chloride,while a small quantity of citric acid or SDBS could improve the CSW morphology. When multi-additives of citric acid-SDBS were employed, the mean length and aspect ratio increased more than 20%. | 4 | Haze insights and mitigation in China: An overview显示文摘The present article provides an overview of the chemical and physical features of haze in China, focusing on the relationship between haze and atmospheric fine particles, and the formation mechanism of haze. It also summarizes several of control technologies and strategies to mitigate the occurrence of haze. The development of instruments and the analysis of measurements of ambient particles and precursor concentrations have provided important information about haze formation. Indeed, the use of new instruments has greatly facilitated current haze research in China. Examples of insightful results include the relationship between fine particles and haze, the chemical compositions and sources of particles, the impacts of the aging process on haze formation, and the application of technologies that control the formation of haze. | 7 | Light absorption properties and potential sources of brown carbon in Fenwei Plain during winter 2018–2019显示文摘A distinctive kind of organic carbon aerosol that could absorb ultraviolet-visible radiation is called brown carbon(Br C),which has an important positive influence on radiative budget and climate change.In this work,we reported the absorption properties and potential source of Br C based on a seven-wavelength aethalometer in the winter of 2018–2019 at an urban site of Sanmenxia in Fenwei Plain in central China.Specifically,the mean value of Br C absorption coefficient was 59.6±36.0 Mm^(-1) at 370 nm and contributed 37.7%to total absorption,which made a significant impact on visibility and regional environment.Absorption coefficients of Br C showed double-peak pattern,and Br C had shown small fluctuations under haze days compared with clean days.As for the sources of Br C,Br C absorption coefficients expressed strong correlations with element carbon aerosols and primary organic carbon aerosols,indicating that most of Br C originated from primary emissions.The linear correlations between trace metal elements(K,As,Fe,Mn,Zn,and Pb)and Br C absorption coefficients further referred that the major sources of Br C were primary emissions,like coal burning,biomass burning,and vehicle emissions.The moderate relationship between Br C absorption coefficients and secondary organic aerosols suggested that secondary production of Br C also played an important role.The 120 hr backward air mass trajectories analysis and concentration-weighted trajectories analysis were also used to investigate potential sources of Br C in and around this area,which inferred most parts of Br C were derived from local emissions. | Wenyu Zhang Weigang Wang Jie Li Shuangliang Ma Chaofan Lian Kun Li Bo Shi Mingyuan Liu Yanyu Li QingQing Wang Yele Sun Shengrui Tong Maofa Ge | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4: | 6 |

| 9 | Development and application of the multi-wavelength cavity ring-down aerosol extinction spectrometer显示文摘To better characterize the optical properties of atmospheric aerosols, the multi-wavelength cavity ring-down aerosol extinction spectrometer(MCRD-AES) is developed and applied in this study. By using tunable light source and four parallel cavities, the MCRD-AES covers a wide and atmospherically relevant wavelength range from 360 to 663 nm. Four wavelengths(375 nm, 440 nm, 532 nm, and 620 nm) are particularly tested with ammonium sulfate and nigrosine. The refractive index values obtained from this study agree well with literature data. The stability and accuracy of the MCRD-AES are tested, and the minimum detectable extinction coefficient is 0.5 1/Mm. | 10 | Extinction efficiencies of mixed aerosols measured by aerosol cavity ring down spectrometry显示文摘A cavity ring down spectroscopy instrument was introduced and designed for measuring extinction efficiencies of pure and mixing aerosols in this paper.Through averaging 500 individual waveforms,the minimal detectable aerosol extinction coefficient of 8.4 × 10-7 m-1 was achieved.By the test results using the NaCl particles,we concluded that this system could measure the extinction efficiencies of an aerosol with an uncertainty less than 3% under laboratory controlled experimental conditions.The refractive indices of different aerosols were retrieved through comparing the measured extinction efficiencies of each aerosol type with which predicted by Mie theory.Aerosols composed of ammonium sulphate and succinic acid with different weight ratios were used to create a model of mixed aerosols using these two materials,whose extinction efficiencies and complex refractive indices were derived.The refractive indices of the mixed aerosols were also calculated by various optical mixing rules.We found that all the molar refraction/absorption mixing rule,the volume ratio linear rule,and Maxwell-Garnett rule did provide comparable results,of which the volume ratio linear rule gave a slightly worse fit than the others. | WANG Lei WANG WeiGang GE MaoFa | 2012 | Chinese Science Bulletin2012,57,20: | 4 |

The uptake of ethyl iodine on black carbon surface was investigated at 298 K for the first time. Degussa FW2 (an amorphous black carbon comprising medium oxides) was used as black carbon sample. Black carbon surface was found to be deactivated in reaction with C_2H_5I, and the uptake coef- ficient (γ ) was dependent on the time of exposure. The value of (2.3±0.9)×10^(-2) was determined for the initial uptake coefficient (γ0). | 17 | Rate constants for the reaction of ozone with n-butyl, s-butyl and t-butyl methyl sulfides显示文摘The rate constants for the ozone reactions with n-butyl methyl sulfide (n-BMS, CH3CH2CH2CH2SCH3), sec-butyl methyl sulfide (s-BMS, CH3CH2(CH3)CHSCH3) and tert-butyl methyl sulfide (t-BMS, (CH3)3CSCH3) were measured using our smog chamber under supposedly pseudo-first-order conditions at 300±2 K and 760 Torr. The experimental determined rate constants for n-butyl, s-butyl and t-butyl methyl sulfide are (1.23 ± 0.06)×10-19, (5.08 ± 0.19)×10?20 and (2.26 ± 0.14)×10?20 cm3·molecule-1·s-1, respectively. The reactivity-structure relationship of the reactions was discussed and used to illustrate the mechanism of the ozone reaction with thioethers. | 18 | Uptake of gas-phase alkylamines by sulfuric acid显示文摘Recent field and experimental studies have suggested that acid-base reactions of alkylamines may play an important role in secondary aerosol formation. We investigated the heterogeneous chemistry of ethylamine (EA), diethylamine (DEA) and triethylamine (TEA) on liquid H2SO4 (1 wt%–80 wt%). Irreversible reactive uptakes were observed for all three alkylamines. The reactive uptake coefficients (γ ) of alkylamines increased with the acid concentration, and the γ value for DEA appeared to increase slightly faster than that of EA and TEA. | 19 | Uptake of isoprene, methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate into aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide显示文摘Multiphase acid-catalyzed oxidation by hydrogen peroxide has been suggested to be a potential route to secondary organic aerosol formation from isoprene and its gas-phase oxidation products, but the lack of kinetics data significantly limited the evaluation of this process in the atmosphere. Here we report the first measurement of the uptake of isoprene, methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate into aqueous solutions of sulfuric acid and hydrogen peroxide. Isoprene cannot readily partition into the solution because of its high volatility and low solubility, which hinders its further liquid-phase oxidation. Both methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate can enter the solutions and be oxidized by hydrogen peroxide, and steady-state uptake was observed with the acidity of solution above 30 wt.% and 70 wt.%, respectively. The steady-state uptake coefficient of methacrylic acid is much larger than that of methyl methacrylate for a solution with same acidity. These observations can be explained by the different reactivity of these two compounds caused by the different electron-withdrawing conjugation between carboxyl and ester groups. The atmospheric lifetimes were estimated based on the calculated steady-state uptake coefficients.
