1The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. 2Prevalence of Thyroid Nodules and Its Relationship with Iodine Status in Shanghai:a Population-based Study显示文摘Objective This study was designed to evaluate the prevalence of thyroid nodules(TNs) and its relationship with urine iodine concentrations(UICs) after the regional rapid economic growth and lifestyle changes. Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted in the general population aged 15-69 years. A questionnaire regarding general and personal characteristics and relevant information was administered. Ultrasonography of the thyroid was performed, and serum triiodothyronine(T3), tetraiodothyronine(T4), serum thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), free triiodothyronine(FT3), free tetraiodothyronine(FT4), thyroglobulin antibody(Tg Ab), thyroid peroxidase antibody(TPOAb), and TSH receptor antibody(TRAb) levels were measured for each individual subject. Results The prevalence rates of TNs in the whole population, females and males were 27.76%, 34.04%, and 21.60%, respectively. The prevalence of multiple nodules increased with age, whereas the prevalence peaks differed between males and females. The median UICs in the whole population and females with non-TNs were higher than those of subjects with TNs(P=0.0035, P=0.0068). The median UICs in subjects with a single TN were higher than those in subjects with multiple TNs(P=0.0164, P=0.0127). The result showed a U-shaped curve relationship between UIC and prevalence of TNs. The prevalence of TNs was the lowest when the UIC was 140-400 μg/L. Conclusion The prevalence of TNs was nearly 30% and increased with age. The relationship between UIC and prevalence of TNs is U-shaped, with an increase in risk when the UIC was <140 μg/L and >400 μg/L. 3Relationship between expression of EGFR in gastric cancer tissue and clinicopathological features显示文摘Objective:To investigate the relationship between the expression of epidermal growth factor receptor(ECFR) in gastric cancer and the clinicopalhological features and prognosis. Methods:A total of 78 paraffin specimens of gastric cancer operation were collected.The immunohistochemical method was used to detect the expression of ECFR in 78 cases of gastric cancer and 20 cases of adjacent normal tissue.The relationship between the high expression of ECFR and clinicopathological features was analyzed.Results:ECFR positive expression rate in the 78 cases of gastric cancer tissue was 57.7%(43/78),while ECFR was not expressed in 20 cases of adjacent normal tissue.The high ECFR expression was positively correlated with the position of gastric cancer,tumor size,cell differentiation,invasive depth,lymph node metastasis and TNM staging,yet having no obvious relation with gender or age.Conclusions:ECFR expression level in gastric cancer is closely related to the incidence and development of gastric cancer,which can provide a theoretical basis for the targeted therapy for gastric cancer with ECFR as the target.Ming Gao Xiu-Ju Liang Zi-Sen Zhang Wang Ma Zhi-Wei Chang Ming-Zhi Zhang 2013Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2013,6,4:20
4Wet and dry deposition fluxes of heavy metals in Pearl River Delta Region(China):Characteristics,ecological risk assessment,and source apportionment显示文摘The atmospheric deposition of heavy metals poses serious risks to the ecological system and human health. To advance our knowledge of atmospheric dry/wet heavy metal deposition in the PRD region, monthly fluxes were examined based on soluble/insoluble fractions of five heavy metal elements(Cu, Pb, Cd, Cr and Zn) in samples collected from January 2014 to December 2015 at Guangzhou(urban) and Dinghushan(suburban) sites. The ratios of wet/dry deposition fluxes indicated that heavy metal deposition was governed by wet deposition rather than dry deposition in the PRD region. Affected by the shifting of the Asian monsoon, wet deposition fluxes exhibited significant seasonal variation between summer monsoon seasons(April to September) and winter monsoon seasons(October to February) in this region. Cd was classified as an extremely strong potential ecological risk based on solubility and the Hakanson ecological risk index. 6Coercivity,microstructure,and thermal stability of sintered Nd-Fe-B magnets by grain boundary diffusion with TbH3 nanoparticles显示文摘Grain boundary diffusion technique with TbH_3 nanoparticles was applied to fabricate Tb-less sintered NdFe-B permanent magnets with high coercivity. The magnetic properties and microstructure of magnets were systematically studied. The coercivity and remanence of grain boundary diffusion magnet are improved by 112% and reduced by 26% compared with those of the original magnet, respectively. Meanwhile, both the remanence temperature coefficient(α) and the coercivity temperature coefficient(β) of the magnets are improved after diffusion treatment. Microstructure shows that Tb element enriches in the surface region of Nd_2Fe_(14)B grains and is expected to exist as(Nd,Tb)_2Fe_(14)B phase. Thus, the magneto-crystalline anisotropy field of the magnet improves remarkably. 7Debris Flow Susceptibility Assessment Using a Probabilistic Approach:A Case Study in the Longchi Area, Sichuan Province, China显示文摘The Longchi area with the city of Dujiangyan, in the Sichuan province of China, is composed of Permian stone and diorites and Triassic sandstones and mudstones intercalated with slates. An abundance of loose co-seismic materials were present on the slopes after the May 12, 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, which in later years served as source material for rainfall-induced debris flows or shallow landslides. A total of 48 debris flows, all triggered by heavy rainfall on 13 th August 2010, are described in this paper. Field investigation, supported by remote sensing image interpretation, was conducted to interpret the co-seismic landslides in the debris flow gullies. Specific characteristics of the study area such as slope, aspect, elevation, channel gradient, lithology, and gully density were selected for the evaluation of debris flow susceptibility. A score was given to all the debris flow gullies based on the probability of debris flow occurrence for the selected factors. In order to get the contribution of the different factors, principal component analyses were applied. A comprehensive score was obtained for the 48 debris flow gullies which enabled us to make a susceptibility map for debris flows with three classes. 8The Predictive Value of Baseline HBs Ag Level and Early Response for HBs Ag Loss in Patients with HBe Ag-positive Chronic Hepatitis B during Pegylated Interferon Alpha-2a Treatment显示文摘Objective To explore the predictive value of baseline HBsAg level and early response for HBsAg loss in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B during pegylated interferon alpha-2a treatment. Methods A total of 121 patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B who achieved HBsAg loss were enrolled; all patients were treated with PEG-IFNα-2a 180 μg/week. Serum HBV DNA and serological indicators(HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, and anti-HBe) were determined before and every 3 months during treatment. Results The median treatment time for HBsAg loss was 84 weeks(7-273 weeks), and 74.38%(90 cases) of the patients needed extended treatment(> 48 weeks). The correlation between baseline HBsAg levels and the treatment time of HBsAg loss was significant(B = 14.465, t = 2.342, P = 0.021). Baseline HBsAg levels together with the decline range of HBsAg at 24 weeks significantly correlated with the treatment time of HBsAg loss(B = 29.862, t = 4.890, P = 0.000 and B = 27.993, t = 27.993, P = 0.005). Conclusion Baseline HBsAg levels and extended therapy are critical steps toward HBsAg loss. 14Evaluation of remediation process with soapberry derived saponin for removal of heavy metals from contaminated soils in Hai-Pu, Taiwan显示文摘The use of a biodegradable natural plant-based surfactant extracted from soapberry is proposed for the remediation of Ni,Cr and Mn from industrial soil site in Hai-Pu,Taiwan.Batch experiments were performed under variation of fundamental factors(saponin concentration,pH,and incubation time) for metal remediation.Removal of Ni and Mn were increased with increasing saponin concentration(0.015-0.150 g/L),whereas the removal of Cr was increased upto 0.075 g/L saponin.The Ni,Cr and Mn were removed significantly(p ≤ 0.05) at near to the neutral and slightly acidic(pH 5 to 8) conditions.Removal efficiency of Ni(99%) from the soil was found to be greater than that of Cr(73%) or Mn(25%) in the presence of saponin at a concentration of 0.150 g/L at pH 5.The removal percentage increased with incubation time where the removal of Ni was faster than that of Cr and Mn.The result indicates the feasibility of eco-friendly removal of heavy metal(Ni,Cr and Mn) from industrial soil by soil washing process in presence of plant derived saponin.Jyoti Prakash Maity Yuh Ming Huang Cheng-Wei Fan Chien-Cheng Chen Chun-Yi Li Chun-Mei Hsu Young-Fo Chang Ching-I Wu Chen-Yen Chen Jiin-Shuh Jean 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6:11
15Dynamic immune profiling identifies the stronger graft-versus-leukemia (GVL) effects with haploidentical allografts compared to HLA-matched stem cell transplantation显示文摘Haploidentical stem cell transplantation(haplo-SCT)achieves superior or at least comparable clinical outcomes to HLA-matched sibling donor transplantation(MSDT)in treating hematological malignancies.To define the underlying regulatory dynamics,we analyzed time courses of leukemia burden and immune abundance of haplo-SCT or MSDT from multiple dimension.First,we employed two nonirradiated leukemia mouse models which carried human AML-ETO or MLL-AF9 fusion gene to establish haplo-identical and major histocompatibility(MHC)-matched transplantation models and investigated the immune cell dynamic response during leukemia development in vivo.We found that haplo-matching the MHCs of leukemia cells with recipient mouse T cells prolonged leukemic mice survival and reduced leukemia burden.The stronger graft-versus-leukemia activity in haplo-SCT group mainly induced by decreased apoptosis and increased cytotoxic cytokine secretion including tumor necrosis factor–α,interferon-γ,pore-forming proteins and CD107a secreted by T cells or natural killer cells.Furthermore,we conducted a prospective clinical trial which enrolled 135 patients with t(8;21)acute myeloid leukemia that displayed minimal residual disease before transplantation and underwent either haplo-SCT or MSDT.The results showed that the haplo-SCT slowed the kinetics of the leukemia burden in vivo and reduced the cumulative incidence of relapse compared with MSDT.Ex vivo experiments showed that,1 year after transplantation,cytotoxic T lymphocytes from the haplo-SCT group had higher cytotoxicity than those from the MSDT group during the same period.Our results unraveled the role of immune cells in superior antileukemia effects of haplo-SCT compared with MSDT.Huidong Guo Ying-Jun Chang Yan Hong Lan-Ping Xu Yu Wang Xiao-Hui Zhang Ming Wang Huan Chen Yu-Hong Chen Feng-Rong Wang Wei-Han Yu-Qian Sun Chen-Hua Yan Fei-Fei Tang Xiao-Dong Mo Kai-Yan Liu Xiao-Jun Huang 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,5:11

18Protective effects of transplanted neural stem cells on the brain of Alzheimer’s disease rats显示文摘BACKGROUND: To date, no drugs are able to halt the progression of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Neural stem cells (NSCs) transplantation has been widely used to treat AD, but the mechanism of AD treatment remains unclear. OBJECTIVE: To observe changes in protein and factors in the hippocampus and frontal lobe of AD rats following NSCs transplantation, and to understand mechanism of action of NSCs transplantation in AD treatment. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized, controlled animal study was conducted at the First Clinical Hospital, Jilin University, China from July 2007 to March 2009. MATERIALS: NSCs were harvested from the hippocampus of 10 E16 Wistar rats. METHODS: A total of 57 male adult Wistar rats were equally and randomly divided into normal control, AD model and NSCs groups. AD models were established in the AD model and NSCs groups by bilateral removal of hippocampus. At 2 weeks postsurgery, NSCs were transplanted into the hippocampus of rats from the NSCs group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Protein levels were measured in the hippocampus of rats from normal control, NSCs and AD model groups using proteomics. Expression of choline acetyl transferase mRNA, glial fibrillary acidic protein and S100β was measured in the hippocampus and frontal lobe of rats using in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Expression of choline acetyl transferase mRNA, heat shock protein 70, heat shock protein 90, F-actin and actin was significantly higher in the NSCs group compared with AD model group. Glial fibrillary acidic protein and S100β expression was less in the NSCs group compared with AD model group. CONCLUSIOIN: NSCs implanted into the brain may generate new neural cells, which can relieve damage to the cholinergic system and resist apoptosis. 19Biodegradation of acetanilide herbicides acetochlor and butachlor in soil显示文摘The biodegradation of two acetanilide herbicides, acetochlor and butachlor in soil after other environmental organic matters addition were measured during 35 days laboratory incubations. The herbicides were applied to soil alone, soil SDBS (sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate) mixtures and soil HA (humic acid) mixtures. Herbicide biodegradation kinetics were compared in the different treatment. Biodegradation products of herbicides in soil alone samples were identified by GC/MS at the end of incubation. Addition of SDBS and HA to soil decreased acetochlor biodegradation, but increased butachlor biodegradation. The biodegradation half life of acetochlor and butachlor in soil alone, soil SDBS mixtures and soil HA mixtures were 4.6d, 6.1d and 5.4d and 5.3d, 4.9d and 5.3d respectively. 20Efficacy of intraorbital electroacupuncture for diabetic abducens nerve palsy: study protocol for a prospective single-center randomized controlled trial显示文摘Abducens nerve palsy(ANP) is commonly seen in patients with diabetes mellitus. The validity of acupuncture as a traditional Chinese medicine method in peripheral nerve repair is well established. However, its efficacy in randomized controlled trials remains unclear. Herein, we designed a protocol for a prospective, single-center, randomized controlled trial to investigate the effect of intraorbital electroacupuncture on diabetic ANP. We plan to recruit 60 patients with diabetic ANP, and randomly divide them into treatment and control groups. Patients in both groups will continue their glucose-lowering therapy. A neural nutrition drug will be given to both groups for six weeks. The treatment group will also receive intraorbital electroacupuncture therapy. We will assess efficacy of treatment, eyeball movement, diplopia deviation and the levels of fasting blood-glucose and glycosylated hemoglobin before treatment at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after treatment. The efficacy and recurrence will be investigated during follow-up(1 month after intervention). This protocol was registered at Chinese Clinical Trial Registry on 16 January 2015(Chi CTR-IPR-15005836). This study was approved by the Ethics Committee of First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University of China(approval number: 201452). All protocols will be in accordance with Declaration of Helsinki, formulated by the World Medical Association. Written informed consent will be provided by participants.
