| 1 | Integrated assessment of river health based on water quality, aquatic life and physical habitat显示文摘The health conditions of Liao River were assessed using 25 sampling sites in April 2005, with water quality index, biotic index and physical habitat quality index. Based on the method of cluster analysis (CA) for water quality indices, it revealed that heavily polluted sites of Liao River are located at estuary and mainstream. The aquatic species surveyed were attached algae and benthic invertebrates. The result showed that the diversity and biomass of attached algae and benthic index of biotic integrity (B-IBI) were degrading as the chemical and physical quality of water bodies deteriorating. Physiochemical parameters, BOD5, CODCr, TN, TP, NH3-N, DO, petroleum hydrocarbon and conductivity, were statistically analyzed with principal component analysis and correlation analysis. The statistical results were incorporated into the integrated assessing water quality index, combining fecal coliform count, attached algae diversity, B-IBI and physical habitat quality score. A comprehensive integrated assessing system of river ecological health was established. | 2 | L-3-n-butylphthalide protects against vascular dementia via activation of the Akt kinase pathway显示文摘As a neuroprotective drug for the treatment of ischemic stroke, 3-n-butylphthalide, a celery seed extract, has been approved by the State Food and Drug Administration of China as a clinical therapeutic drug for ischemic stroke patients. L-3-n-butylphthalide possesses significant efficacy in the treatment of acute ischemic stroke. The activated Akt kinase pathway can prevent the death of nerve cells and exhibit neuroprotective effects in the brain after stroke. This study provides the hypothesis that l-3-n-butylphthalide has a certain therapeutic effect on vascular dementia, and its mechanism depends on the activation of the Akt kinase pathway. A vascular dementia mouse model was established by cerebral repetitive ischemia/reperfusion, and intragastrically administered l-3-n-butylphthalide daily for 28 consecutive days after ischemia/reperfusion, or 7 consecutive days before ischemia/reperfusion. The Morris water maze test showed significant impairment of spatial learning and memory at 4 weeks after operation, but intragastric administration of l-3-n-butylphthalide, especially pretreatment with l-3-n-butylphthalide, significantly reversed these changes. Thionine staining and western blot analylsis showed that preventive and therapeutic application of l-3-n-butylphthalide can reduce loss of pyramidal neurons in the hippocampal CA1 region and alleviate nerve damage in mice with vascular demen-tia. In addition, phosphorylated Akt expression in hippocampal tissue increased significantly after l-3-n-butylphthalide treatment. | 7 | Successful robotic radical resection of hepatic echinococcosis located in posterosuperior liver segments显示文摘BACKGROUND Radical resection is an important treatment method for hepatic echinococcosis.The posterosuperior segments of the liver remain the most challenging region for laparoscopic or robotic hepatectomy.AIM To demonstrate the safety and preliminary experience of robotic radical resection of cystic and alveolar echinococcosis in posterosuperior liver segments.METHODS A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 5 patients with a median age of 37 years(21-56 years)with cystic and alveolar echinococcosis in difficult liver lesions admitted to two centers from September to December 2019.The surgical methods included total pericystectomy,segmental hepatectomy,or hemihepatectomy.RESULTS Among the 5 patients,4 presented with cystic echinococcosis and 1 presented with alveolar echinococcosis,all of whom underwent robotic radical operation successfully without conversion to laparotomy.Total caudate lobectomy was performed in 2 cases,hepatectomy of segment Ⅶ in 1 case,total pericystectomy of segment Ⅷ in 1 case,and right hemihepatectomy in 1 case.Operation time was 225 min(175-300 min);blood loss was 100 mL(50-600 mL);and postoperative hospital stay duration was 10 d(5-19 d).The Clavien-Dindo complication grade was Ⅰ in 4 cases and Ⅱ in 1 case.No recurrence of echinococcosis was found in any patient at the 3 mo of follow-up.CONCLUSION Robotic radical surgery for cystic and selected alveolar echinococcosis in posterosuperior liver segments is safe and feasible. | Zhi-Ming Zhao Zhu-Zeng Yin Yuan Meng Nan Jiang Zhi-Gang Ma Li-Chao Pan Xiang-Long Tan Xiong Chen Rong Liu | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,21: | 7 |
| 8 | Effects of long-term tea polyphenols consumption on hepatic microsomal drug-metabolizing enzymes and liver function in Wistar rats显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of long-term tea polyphenols (TPs) consumption on hepatic microsomal drug-metabolizing enzymes and liver function in rats.METHODS: TPs were administered intragastrically to rats at the doses of 833 mg.kg-1.d-1 (n=20) and 83.3 mg.kg-1@d-1 (n=20) respectively for six months. Controlled group (n=20)was given same volume of saline solution. Then the contents of cytochrome P450, bS, enzyme activities of aminopyrine N-demethylase (ADM), glutathione S-trasferase (GST) and the biochemical liver function of serum were determined.RESULTS: The contents of cytochrome P450 and b5 in the livers of male rats in high dose groups (respectively 2.66±0.55,10.43±2.78 nmol.mg MS pro-1) were significantly increased compared with the control group (1.08±1.04, 5.51±2.98nmol.mg MS pro-1; P<0.01, respectively). The enzymatic activities of ADM in the livers of female rats in high dose groups (0.91±0.08 mmol@mg MS pro-1min-1) were increased compared with the control group (0.82±0.08 mmol.mg MS pro-1.min-1; P<0.05). | 9 | Recent Progress and Development in Extrusion of Rare Earth Free Mg Alloys: A Review显示文摘Mg and its alloys are the lightest structural metals available and are extremely attractive for applications as lightweight components, particularly in the automobile, electronic, and aerospace industries. The global market for wrought Mg alloys has steadily expanded over the past decade. And numerous studies have been carried out to meet this increasing demand of high-performance Mg alloys. However, Mg extrusion alloys have had a very limited usage so far. To overcome existing industrial challenges, one desirable approach is the development of low-cost rare earth(RE) free Mg extrusion alloys with superior mechanical properties. This review will introduce the recent research highlights in the extrusion of Mg alloys, specifi cally focusing on low-cost RE-free Mg alloy. The results from both the literature and our previous study are summarized and critically reviewed. Several aspects of RE-free Mg extrusion alloys are described in detail:(1) novel alloying designs including Mg–Al-, Mg–Zn-, Mg–Ca-, Mg–Sn-, and Mg–Bi-based alloys,(2) advanced extrusion techniques, and(3) extrusion-related severe plastic deformation(SPD) processing. Accordingly, considering the large gap in mechanical properties between the current RE-free Mg alloys and high-performance aluminum alloys, new alloy design, processing route control, and recommendations for future research on RE-free Mg extrusion alloys are also proposed. | 12 | Enhancement of Aggression Induced by Isolation Rearing is Associated with a Lack of Central Serotonin显示文摘Isolation rearing(IR) enhances aggressive behavior, and the central serotonin(5-hydroxytryptamine,5-HT) system has been linked to IR-induced aggression.However, whether the alteration of central serotonin is the cause or consequence of enhanced aggression is still unknown. In the present study, using mice deficient in central serotonin Tph2-/-and Lmx1 b-/-, we examined the association between central serotonin and aggression with or without social isolation. We demonstrated that central serotonergic neurons are critical for the enhanced aggression after IR. 5-HT depletion in wild-type mice increased aggression. On the other hand, application of 5-HT in Lmx1 b-/-mice inhibited the enhancement of aggression under social isolation conditions. Dopamine was downregulated in Lmx1 b-/-mice. Similar to 5-HT, L-DOPA decreased aggression in Lmx1 b-/-mice. | 14 | Interfacial Engineering of NiFeP/NiFe-LDH Heterojunction for Efficient Overall Water Splitting显示文摘In consideration of application prospect of non-noble metallic materials catalysts,the study of exploring more highly effective electrocatalysts has been focused on by researchers.Herein,a novel strategy is employed to construct a heterojunction consisting of metal phosphide Ni_(x)Fe_(y)P and layered double hydroxide(LDH)with graphene oxide(GO)as conductive support.By adjusting the molar ratio of Ni to Fe,a series of heterojunctions with mixed valence state Fe^(δ+)/Fe^(3+)and Ni^(δ+)/Ni^(2+)(δis likely close to 0)redox couples are achieved and strong synergistic effects towards overall water splitting performance are found.The optimized catalyst with a Ni/Fe molar ratio of 0.72:0.33,namely Ni_(0.7)Fe_(0.3)P/LDH/GO,delivers ultra-low overpotentials for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)of 79 and 198 mV at the current density of 10 mA·cm^(-2),respectively.Furthermore,for overall water-splitting practical application,it only requires 1.526 V at 10 mA·cm^(-2)with robust stability,which is superior to most reported electrocatalysts.Experimental results demonstrate the im-proved electronic conductivity,enlarged electrochemically active area and accelerated kinetics together account for the enhanced performance.This work supplies new prospects for the promotion and application of such heterojunction electrocatalysts in overall water splitting. | Xuanyu Long Jiazhi Meng Jiabao Gu Lanqing Ling Qianwen Li Nan Liu Kaiwen Wang Zequan Li | 2022 | Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2022,41,4: | 4 |
| 15 | Effect of copper precursors on the catalytic performance of Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts in N2O decomposition显示文摘Five Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts were obtained by treating Na-ZSM-5(Si/Al ratio = 15) with aqueous solutions of different Cu precursors(CuCl_2, Cu(NO_3)_2, CuSO_4, Cu(CH_3COO)_2, and ammoniacal copper(II) complex ion). After being pretreated in flowing He at 500 ℃ to form active Cu+, these catalysts exhibited quite different activities in catalytic decomposition of N_2O. CZM-AC(II)(prepared by ammoniacal copper(Ⅱ) complex ion) with 9.4 wt% Cu content was the most active among these Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts, achieving almost complete N_2O conversion at 400 ℃.CZM-CA(prepared using Cu(CH_3COO)_2 as the Cu precursor) with 2.8 wt% Cu content was the second most active catalyst among these Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts, achieving almost complete N_2O conversion at 425 ℃. CZM-CC, CZMCN, and CZM-CS prepared by using Cu Cl_2, Cu(NO_3)_2, or CuSO_4 as the Cu precursor with similar Cu contents(≈ 1.7 wt%) were the least active among these Cu-ZSM-5 catalysts, achieving ca. 90% N_2O conversion at 500 ℃.XRD, ICP, SEM, TEM, EDX-mapping, and CO-IR experiments were conducted to characterize relevant samples.The superior activity of CZM-AC(Ⅱ) can be attributed to the high contents of total Cu+and dimeric Cu+among these samples. | 18 | Modified subintimal plaque modification improving future recanalization of chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention显示文摘Background Subintimal plaque modification(SPM) is often performed to restore antegrade flow and facilitate subsequent lesion recanalization. This study aimed to compare the safety and efficacy of modified SPM with traditional SPM. Methods A total of 1454 consecutive patients who failed a chronic total occlusion percutaneous coronary intervention(CTO PCI) attempt and underwent SPM from January 2015 to December 2019 at our hospital were reviewed retrospectively. Fifty-four patients who underwent SPM finally were included in this study. We analyzed the outcomes of all the patients, and the primary endpoint was recanalization rate, which was defined as Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction(TIMI) grades 2-3 flow on angiography 30 to 90 days post-procedure. Results The baseline characteristics were similar between the two groups. In the follow-up, the recanalization rate was noticeably higher in the modified SPM group compared with the traditional SPM group(90.9% vs. 62.5%, P < 0.05). The proposed strategy in the modified group was more aggressive, including a larger balloon size(1.83 ± 0.30 vs. 2.48 ± 0.26 mm, P < 0.05) and longer subintimal angioplasty(0.59 ± 0.16 vs. 0.92 ± 0.12 mm, P < 0.05). Also, the common use of a Stingray balloon and guide catheter extension resulted in improvement of patients in the modified SMP group(12.5% vs. 100%, P < 0.05). | 19 | Screening high-quality fetal bovine serum for porcine oocyte maturation in vitro显示文摘Fetal bovine serum(FBS) is widely used in cell cultures due to its high stability and easy access. It was also used as a substitute for porcine follicular fluid(PFF) in previous studies. However, FBS components are unclear, and the presence of FBS in culture media may introduce a variation from batch to batch. This study aimed to establish an effective method to screen FBS in place of PFF in the culture media for porcine oocytes in vitro. We screened FBS from different sources by using porcine fetal fibroblast cells. The effects of six FBS samples on porcine fetal fibroblast cell growth were tested via frozen cell survival assay, cell clone formation assay, cell growth curve, and cell passage activity assay. The best serum that we called GFBS(heat-inactivated FBS, cat. no. 10500-64;Gibco) showed a similar effect on the maturation and development of porcine oocytes to that of PFF and can be used as a good substitute for PFF.
