| 2 | Mild oxidative stress is beneficial for sperm telomere length maintenance显示文摘AIM:To evaluate telomere length in sperm DNA and its correlation with oxidative stress(normal,mild,severe).METHODS:The study included infertile men(n=112)and age matched fertile controls(n=102).The average telomere length from the sperm DNA was measured using a quantitative real time PCR based assay.Seminal reactive oxygen species(ROS)and 8-Isoprostane(8-IP)levels were measured by chemiluminescence assay and ELISA respectively.RESULTS:Average sperm telomere length in infertile men and controls was 0.609±0.15 and 0.789±0.060,respectively(P<0.0001).Seminal ROS levels in infertile was higher[66.61±28.32 relative light units(RLU)/s/million sperm]than in controls(14.04±10.67RLU/s/million sperm)(P<0.0001).The 8-IP level in infertile men was significantly higher(421.55±131.29pg/mL)than in controls(275.94±48.13 pg/mL)(P<0.001).When correlated to oxidative stress,in normal range of oxidative stress(ROS,0-21.3 RLU/s/million sperm)the average telomere length in cases was 0.663±0.14,in mild oxidative stress(ROS,21.3-35 RLU/s/million sperm)it was elevated(0.684±0.12)and in severe oxidative stress(ROS>35 RLU/s/million sperm)average telomere length was decreased to 0.595±0.15.CONCLUSION:Mild oxidative stress results in lengthening of telomere length,but severe oxidative stress results in shorter telomeres.Although telomere maintenance is a complex trait,the study shows that mild oxidative stress is beneficial in telomere length maintenance and thus a delicate balance needs to be established to maximize the beneficial effects of free radicals and prevent harmful effects of supra physiological levels.Detailed molecular evaluation of telomere structure,its correlation with oxidative stress would aid in elucidating the cause of accelerated telomere length attrition. | Swetasmita Mishra Rajeev Kumar Neena Malhotra Neeta Singh Rima Dada | 2016 | World Journal of Methodology2016，6，2： | 4 |

| 5 | Effect of adrenalectomy and hydrocortisone on ventral prostate of rats显示文摘Aim: To study the effects of adrenalectomy and hydrocortisone on the ventral prostate of SD rats. Methods: In adrenalectomised (ADX) and ADX + hydrocortisone (1, 2, or 4 mg) treated rats, the prostatic histology and the cholesterol, protein, zinc, and copper levels and the enzymic profile (acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, aryl sulphatase, lactic dehydrogenase, and leucine aminopeptidase) in the prostatic tissue were determined; the serum hormonal profile (testosterone, FSH and LH) was also assayed. Results: Adrenalectomy caused a progressive degeneration in prostatic structure that was not reversed by hydrocortisone treatment. The serum testosterone were significantly lower in ADX than in sham operated rats and lower in ADX + hydrocortisone than in ADX-C rats ( P < 0.01) The serum FSH and LH were below the detection limit of 1 mIU/mL. The enzymatic activity was higher in ADX than in sham operated rats and higher in ADX + hydrocortisone than in ADX-C rats ( P <0.05-0.01). The prostatic zinc levels were significantly higher in sham operated than in ADX, and higher in ADX-C than in ADX + hydrocortisone rats ( P < 0.05 -0.01). The prostatic copper level was significantly lower in sham operated than in ADX, and lower in ADX-C than in the ADX + hydrocortisone rats ( P < 0.01). Conclusion: In rats, adrenalectomy leads to pathological and functional changes of the prostate. | 7 | Investigation of structure and mechanical properties of plasma vapor deposited nanocomposite TiBN films显示文摘TiBN coatings have huge potential applications as they have excellent properties with increasing modern industrial requirements.Nanocomposite TiBN coatings were synthesized on cemented carbide,high speed steel and Si substrates by using cathodic arc plasma ion plating from pure TiB_2 ceramic targets.The structure and mechanical properties of the TiBN coatings were significantly influenced by the nitrogen partial pressure.Rutherford backscattering spectrometry demonstrates that the nitrogen content of the coating varied from 2.8%to 34.5%and highresolution electron microscopy images reveal that all coatings have the characteristic of nanocrystals embedded in an amorphous matrix.The root-mean-square roughness of the coatings increases from 3.73 to 14.64 nm and the coefficients of friction of the coatings at room temperature vary from 0.54 to 0.73 with increasing nitrogen partial pressure.The microhardness of the coating increases up to 35.7 GPa at 10 seem N_2 flow rate.The smallest wear rate is2.65×10^(-15)m^3 N^(-1)m^(-1)which indicates that TiBN coatings have excellent wear resistance.The adhesion test revealed that the TiBN coatings have good adhesion at low nitrogen partial pressure. | 韩滨 D NEENA 王泽松 K K KONDAMAREDDY 李娜 左文彬 闫少健 刘传胜 付德君 | 2017 | Plasma Science and Technology2017，19，4： | 2 |
