1Behavior of noncircular tunnels excavated in stratified rock masses-Case of underground coal mines显示文摘The amount of tunnels excavated along stratified/sedimentary rock masses in Quangninh coal mine area,Vietnam, is gradually increasing. Rock mass in Quangninh is characterized by beddings between rock layers. The behavior of stratified rock masses surrounding the tunnels depends on both the intact rock and the beddings between rock layers. The main characteristics of stratified rock masses that need to be considered are their heterogeneity and anisotropy. Depending on the dip angle of rock layers, movements and failure zones developed surrounding the tunnels can be asymmetrical over the vertical axis of tunnel. This asymmetry causes adverse behaviors of the tunnel structures. The objective of this study is to highlight convergences and yielded zones developed in rock masses surrounding noncircular tunnels in Quangninh coal mine area using a finite element method. The presence of bedding joints is explicitly simulated. The numerical results indicated that with the increase in dip angle of bedding joints, the stress asymmetry over the tunnel vertical axis increases. It gradually leads to an asymmetry of the failure zone surrounding the tunnel. An increase of rock mass quality means a decrease of rock mass sensitivity to the discontinuities. In addition,a dip angle of the bedding joints of approximately 45° could be considered as the critical angle at which the rock mass mechanism changes between sliding and bending.Ngoc Anh Do Daniel Dias Van Diep Dinh Tien Tung Tran Van Canh Dao Viet Doan Dao Phuc Nhan Nguyen 2019Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2019,11,1:9

4Structural and luminescent properties of (Eu,Tb) PO_4·H_2O nanorods/nanowires prepared by microwave technique显示文摘Nanowires/nanorods of europium/terbium orthophosphate monohydrate with Eu3+ concentration of 6,11,and 20 at.% were prepared by microwave synthesis method. The effects of Eu3+ doping concentration on structure, morphology and optical properties of nanoma-terials were also investigated. The results showed that, for all studied Eu3+ doping concentrations,a single-crystalline phase of rhabdo-phane-type(Eu,Tb) PO4·H2O nanowires/nanorods was obtained by using microwave heating of an aqueous solution of terbium(III) nitrate, europium(III) nitrate and NH4H2PO4 with pH=2.The length and width of these nanowires/nanorods ranged from 150 to 300 nm and from 10 to 50 nm,respectively. The evidence of energy transfer from Tb3+ to Eu3+ due to the energy overlap between the donor Tb3+ and the acceptor Eu3+ was observed obviously via a significant enhancement in the luminescent intensity of Eu3+.Nguyen Thanh Huong Nguyen Duc Van Dinh Manh Tien Do Khanh Tung Nguyen Thanh Binh Tran Kim Anh Le Quoc Minh 2011Journal of Rare Earths2011,29,12:2

9Ecoregional variations of aboveground biomass and stand structure in evergreen broadleaved forests显示文摘Biotic and abiotic factors control aboveground biomass(AGB)and the structure of forest ecosystems. This study analyses the variation of AGB and stand structure of evergreen broadleaved forests among six ecoregions of Vietnam.A data set of 1731-ha plots from 52 locations in undisturbed old-growth forests was developed. The results indicate that basal area and AGB are closely correlated with annual precipitation, but not with annual temperature, evaporation or hours of sunshine.Basal area and AGB are positively correlated with trees>30 cm DBH.Most areas surveyed(52.6%)in these old-growth forests had AGB of 100–200 Mg ha^-1;5.2%had AGB of 400–500 Mg ha^-1,and 0.6%had AGB of>800 Mg ha^-1.Seventy percent of the areas surveyed had stand densities of 300–600 ind.ha^-1,and 64%had basal areas of 20–40 m^2 ha^-1.Precipitation is an important factor influencing the AGB of old-growth,evergreen broadleaved forests in Vietnam.Disturbances causing the loss of large-diameter trees(e.g.,>100 cm DBH)affects AGB but may not seriously affect stand density.Tran Van Do Mamoru Yamamoto Osamu Kozan Vo Dai Hai Phung Dinh Trung Nguyen Toan Thang Lai Thanh Hai Vu Thanh Nam Trieu Thai Hung Hoang Van Thang Tran Duc Manh Cao Chi Khiem Vu Tien Lam Nguyen Quang Hung Tran Hoang Quy Pham Quang Tuyen Trinh Ngoc Bon Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong Ninh Viet Khuong Nguyen Van Tuan Dang Thi Hai Ha Tran Hai Long Dang Van Thuyet Dang Thinh Trieu Nguyen Van Thinh Tran Anh Hai Duong Quang Trung Nguyen Van Bich Dinh Hai Dang Pham Tien Dung Nguyen Huy Hoang Le Thi Hanh Phan Minh Quang Nguyen Thi Thuy Huong Hoang Thanh Son Nguyen Thanh Son Nguyen Thi Van Anh Nguyen Thi Hoai Anh Pham Dinh Sam Hoang Thi Nhung Hoang Van Thanh Nguyen Huu Thinh Tran Hong Van Ho Trung Luong Bui Kieu Hung 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,5:1
10Anti-inflammatory effects of alkaloid enriched extract from roots of Eurycoma longifolia Jack显示文摘Objective: To examine the in vitro and in vivo anti-inflammatory effects of the alkaloid enriched extract(ELA) from the roots of Eurycoma longifolia. Methods: The in vitro antiinflammatory effects of ELA were evaluated by examining its inhibitory activities against nitric oxide(NO) production and inducible nitric oxide synthase(iN OS) and cyclooxygenase2(COX-2) expressions in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The level of NO produced in the culture media was determined by Griess method. The i NOS and COX-2 protein expressions were analyzed by Western blot. The in vivo effect of ELA was evaluated on LPS-induced septic shock in mice model. Mice mortality was monitored for5 days after injection of LPS. The chemical contents of the ELA were determined by using various chromatographic and spectroscopic techniques. Results: The ELA was found to exhibit a significant anti-inflammatory effect in both in vitro and in vivo models. The results demonstrated that ELA dose-dependently inhibited LPS-induced NO production as well as the protein iN OS and COX-2 expressions. In the septic shock model, ELA dose-dependently protected mice from LPS-induced mortality. Further study on the isolated components of ELA indicated that 9,10-dimethoxycanthin-6-one may contribute significantly to the antiinflammatory effects of the extract. Conclusions: These results suggest that ELA exhibits the anti-inflammatory activity via suppression of pro-inflammatory mediators such as NO, iN OS,and COX-2 and protects mice from LPS-induced mortality in septic shock model.Dao Thi Thanh Hien Tran Phi Long Tran Phuong Thao Jeong-Hyung Lee Duong Thu Trang Nguyen Thi Thu Minh Pham Van Cuong Do Thi Ngoc Lan Nguyen Hai Dang Nguyen Tien Dat 2019Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Biomedicine2019,9,1:1

20A new species of the genus Leptolalax (Anura: Megophryidae) from southern Vietnam显示文摘We describe a new species of megophryid frog from Phu Yen Province in southern Vietnam. Leptolalax macrops sp. nov. is distinguished from its congeners by a combination of the following morphological attributes:(1) body size medium(SVL 28.0–29.3 mm in three adult males, 30.3 mm in single adult female);(2) supra-axillary glands present, creamy white; ventrolateral glands indistinct;(3) tympanum externally distinct;(4) dorsal skin roughly granular with larger tubercles, dermal ridges on dorsum absent;(5) rudimentary webbing present between fingers Ⅰ–Ⅱ and Ⅱ–Ⅲ; rudimentary webbing between all toes; fingers and toes without dermal fringes;(6) in life ventral surface greyish-violet with white speckling;(7) supratympanic fold distinct, dark brown in life;(8) iris bicolored, typically golden in upper half, fading to golden green in lower half;(9) tibia short(TbL/SVL 0.44–0.45 in males); and(10) eyes large and protuberant(ED/SVL 0.15–0.16 in males). From all congeners for which comparable sequences are available, the new species differs markedly in the 16 S rRNA mitochondrial gene sequence(P-distance>5.7%). The new species is currently known only from montane evergreen tropical forests of Song Hinh District, Phu Yen Province, and M'Drak District of Dak Lak Province at elevations of 470–630 m a.s.l.. We suggest the new species should be considered as Data Deficient following the IUCN's Red List categories. We also report a previously unknown Leptolalax mt DNA lineage from an evergreen tropical forest in the Hoa Thinh District of Phu Yen Province, which may also represent an undescribed species.Tang Van Duong Dang Trong Do Chung Dac Ngo Truong Quang Nguyen Nikolay A.
