1Mesenchymal stem cells derived from human placenta suppress allogeneic umbilical cord blood lymphocyte proliferation显示文摘ABSTRACTHuman placenta-derived mononuclear cells (MNC) were isolated by a Percoll density gradient and cultured in mesen-chymal stem cell (MSC) maintenance medium. The homogenous layer of adherent cells exhibited a typical fibroblast-like morphology, a large expansive potential, and cell cycle characteristics including a subset of quiescent cells. In vitrodifferentiation assays showed the tripotential differentiation capacity of these cells toward adipogenic, osteogenic andchondrogenic lineages. Flow cytometry analyses and immunocytochemistry stain showed that placental MSC was ahomogeneous cell population devoid of hematopoietic cells, which uniformly expressed CD29, CD44, CD73, CD105,CD166, laminin, fibronectin and vimentin while being negative for expression of CD31, CD34, CD45 and α-smoothmuscle actin. Most importantly, immuno-phenotypic analyses demonstrated that these cells expressed class I majorhistocompatibility complex (MHC-I), but they did not express MHC-II molecules. Additionally these cells could sup-press umbilical cord blood (UCB) lymphocytes proliferation induced by cellular or nonspecific mitogenic stimuli. Thisstrongly implies that they may have potential application in allograft transplantation. 4Treatment of coking wastewater by a novel electric assisted micro-electrolysis filter显示文摘A newly designed electric assisted micro-electrolysis filter(E-ME) was developed to investigate its degradation efficiency for coking wastewater and correlated characteristics. The performance of the E-ME system was compared with separate electrolysis(SE) and micro-electrolysis(ME) systems. The results showed a prominent synergistic effect on COD removal in E-ME systems. Gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC–MS) analysis confirmed that the applied electric field enhanced the degradation of phenolic compounds.Meanwhile, more biodegradable oxygen-bearing compounds were detected. SEM images of granular activated carbon(GAC) showed that inactivation and blocking were inhibited during the E-ME process. The effects of applied voltage and initial p H in E-ME systems were also studied. The best voltage value was 1 V, but synergistic effects existed even with lower applied voltage. E-ME systems exhibited some p H buffering capacity and attained the best efficiency in neutral media, which means that there is no need to adjust p H prior to or during the treatment process. 6A low-noise fully-differential CMOS preamplifier for neural recording applications显示文摘A fully-differential bandpass CMOS preamplifier for extracellular neural recording is presented in this paper.The capacitive-coupled and capacitive-feedback topology is adopted.We describe the main noise sources of the proposed preamplifier and discuss the methods for achieving the lowest input-referred noise.The preamplifier has a midband gain of 43 dB and a DC gain of 0.The-3 dB upper cut-off frequency of the preamplifier is 6.8 kHz.The lower cut-off frequency can be adjusted for amplifying the field or action potentials located in different bands.It has an input-referred noise of 3.36 μVrms integrated from 1 Hz to 6.8 kHz for recording the local field potentials(LFPs)and the mixed neural spikes with a power dissipation of 24.75 μW from 3.3 V supply.When the passband is configured as 100 Hz-6.8 kHz for only recording spikes,the noise is measured to be 3.01 μVrms.The 0.115 mm2 prototype chip is designed and fabricated in 0.35-μm N-well CMOS(complementary metal oxide semiconductor)2P4M process.ZHANG Xu PEI WeiHua HUANG BeiJu GUAN Ning CHEN HongDa 2012Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,2:11
7Effect of a Traditional Chinese Medicine combined therapy on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis:a randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effectiveness of a combined Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) therapy versus conventional treatment on adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.METHODS:One hundred twenty outpatients with mild and moderate adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were randomly divided into a TCM group(TCMG)and a brace group(CG).TCMG patients underwent Daoyin,Tuina,and acupotomology therapies.CG patients were treated with a Milwaukee brace.Each patient's Cobb angle was measured after 12 and 24 months of treatment,and pulmonary function was determined after 12 months of treatment.Average electromyogram(AEMG) ratio of the surface electromyogram was measured after 6 and 12 months of treatment and followed-up after 18 and 24 months.RESULTS:The Cobb angle significantly decreased in both groups after 12 months of treatment compared with before treatment(P< 0.05).The percentages of original Cobb angle in TCMG and CG were51.4%and 47.8%(P > 0.05) after 12 months and62.5%and 34.7%(P < 0.05) after 24 months,respectively.Pulmonary function significantly improved after 12 months in TCMG(P < 0.05) but significantly decreased in CG(P < 0.05).The AEMG ratio was significantly lower(P < 0.01) and tended to remain at1 after stopping treatment in TCMG,but increased in CG(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:TCM combined therapy can prevent the progression of scoliosis.The AEMG ratio is a promising index that could replace radiography in the evaluation of treatment effect and progression in scoliosis.Wei Hui Xu Jinyuan Jiang Zhong Ye Shuliang Song Hongquan Ning Xitao Huang Huanmin Chen Wei Pei Jianwei Jiang Nengyi Chen Shao Du Honggen 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,5:9

9Preliminary study on the living environment of hominids at the Donggutuo site,Nihewan Basin显示文摘The Donggutuo site, situated in the east margin of Nihewan basin, is one of the most important Paleolithic sites in China, characterized by the longest excavation seasons and the most abundant cultural remains recovered in the region. Based on well-constructed sporopollen, sediment grain size analysis, magnetic susceptibility, and iron oxide analysis of the 2000―2001 excavated section, four stages of environmental change in the Nihewan Beds are identified by the authors. The results indicate four major stages of environment and climate change from 1) warm and humid forest grass to 2) temperate and humid forest grass to 3) temperate and dry forest grass to 4) warm and humid forest, which is suitable for hominid occupation. The changes correspond to the stages of lake transgression and regression. The environment after the lake died out away has been cold and dry boschveld. The hominid activities at the site took place in the Early Pleistocene (1.10 Ma), which corresponds to the early three environmental stages. Therefore, it can be inferred that the early hominids adapted to the relatively low lake level episodes through activities involving sporadic stone tool making, procuring of raw materials for tools, concentrating stone artifacts, and hunting and butchering. 14Detection of the Urinary Biomarkers PYD, CTX-Ⅱ, and DPD in Patients with Kashin-Beck Disease in the Qinghai Province of China显示文摘Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) is an endemic degenerative osteoarthropathy of uncertain etiology. The aim of our study was to identify changes in C-telopeptide of type Ⅱ collagen(CTX-Ⅱ), pyridinoline(PYD), and deoxypyridinoline(DPD) among KBD patients. 54 KBD patients and 78 healthy controls were included this study. Urinary samples were collected and measured by ELISA. The median quantities of PYD, CTX-Ⅱ, and DPD of KBD patients were 1107.73 ng/μmol.cre, 695.11 ng/μmol.cre, and 1342.34 pml/μmol.cre, while the median quantities of healthy controls were 805.59 ng/μmol.cre, 546.47 ng/μmol.cre, and 718.15 pml/μmol.cre, respectively. The differences between KBD patients and healthy controls were statistically significant(Z = 4.405, 3.653, and 3.724; P < 0.001). 15Phaeocystis globosa Bloom Monitoring: Based on P. globosa Induced Seawater Viscosity Modification Adjacent to a Nuclear Power Plant in Qinzhou Bay, China显示文摘The mucus produced by the outbreak of Phaeocystis globosa in the adjacent waters of the Fangchenggang Nuclear Power Plant(FCGNPP) in China has blocked the entrance of the cooling water filtration system of the FCGNPP, and posed a threat to the safe operation of the FCGNPP. At present, there is no related research on whether the changes in seawater viscosity could be used as a new method for monitoring and providing early warning of P. globosa tide. During a complete red tide cycle, the temporal and spatial changes in the hydrological conditions(temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen), chlorophyll-a(Chl-a), composition and abundance of phytoplankton, number and size of P. globose colonies, concentration of transparent exopolymer particles(TEP) and the seawater viscosity were measured in this study. The results indicate that there was an extremely significant negative correlation between the physical seawater viscosity η_(T,S) and temperature, and the correlation coefficient reached-0.998. The biological seawater viscosity η_(Bio) was positively correlated with the number of P. globosa colonies, and the correlation coefficients is 0.747. Because the increase in phytoplankton abundance, especially during the outbreak of P. globosa and a large amount of mucus produced by the colonies could significantly increase seawater viscosity, we suggest that biological factors were the main reasons for the increase in seawater viscosity. 17Melittin ameliorates inflammation in mouse acute liver failure via inhibition of PKM2-mediated Warburg effect显示文摘Acute liver failure(ALF)is a fatal clinical syndrome with no special drug.Recent evidence shows that modulation of macrophage to inhibit inflammation may be a promising strategy for ALF treatment.In this study we investigated the potential therapeutic effects of melittin,a major peptide component of bee venom both in mice model of ALF and in LPS-stimulated macrophages in vitro,and elucidated the underlying mechanisms.ALF was induced in mice by intraperitoneal injection of D-galactosamine/LPS.Then the mice were treated with melittin(2,4,and 8 mg/kg,ip).We showed that melittin treatment markedly improved mortality,attenuated severe symptoms and signs,and alleviated hepatic inflammation in D-galactosamine/LPS-induced ALF mice with the optimal dose being 4 mg/kg.In addition,melittin within the effective doses did not cause significant in vivo toxicity.In LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages,melittin(0.7μM)exerted anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation effects.We showed that LPS stimulation promoted aerobic glycolysis of macrophages through increasing glycolytic rate,upregulated the levels of Warburg effect-related enzymes and metabolites including lactate,LDHA,LDH,and GLUT-1,and activated Akt/mTOR/PKM2/HIF-1α signaling.Melittin treatment suppressed M2 isoform of pyruvate kinase(PKM2),thus disrupted the Warburg effect to alleviate inflammation.Molecular docking analysis confirmed that melittin targeted PKM2.In LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages,knockdown of PKM2 caused similar anti-inflammation effects as melittin did.In D-galactosamine/LPS-induced ALF mice,melittin treatment markedly decreased the expression levels of PKM2 and HIF-1α in liver.This work demonstrates that melittin inhibits macrophage activation-mediated inflammation via inhibition of aerobic glycolysis by targeting PKM2,which highlights a novel strategy of using melittin for ALF treatment.Xue-gong Fan Si-ya Pei Dan Zhou Peng-cheng Zhou Yan Huang Xing-wang Hu Teng Li Yang Wang Ze-bing Huang Ning Li 2021Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,8:4
18Some basic aspects of polymer nanocomposites: A critical review显示文摘Polymer nanocomposites have been investigated for about three decades. To get deep insights into the modifying effects of various nanofillers on mechanical and physical properties of polymer nanocomposites, the three basic aspects of processing, characterization and properties are critically reviewed in this paper. Nanofillers can be classified into three major types of two-dimensional (2D) layered, one-dimensional (1D) fibrous and zerodimensional (0D) spherical ones and this review thus discusses in detail the processing, characterization and properties of the three types of polymer nanocomposites. It starts with an introduction of various nanoscale fillers such as two-dimensional (2D) nano-clay, graphene and MXene, one dimensional (1D) carbon nanofibers and nanotubes, zero dimensional (0D) silica nanoparticles and ZnO quantum dots as well as nanofiller-polymer interfaces. The processing of these polymer nanocomposites using different methods and the characterization of nanofillers and polymer nanocomposites using various techniques are described. 19The Survey of Cronobacter spp.(formerly Enterbacter sakazakii) in Infant and Follow-up Powdered Formula in China in 2012显示文摘Objective To determine Cronobacter spp.contamination in infant and follow-up powdered formula in China.Methods All of 2282 samples were collected from the retail markets in China from January 2012 to December 2012,and analyzed for Cronobacter spp.by the Chinese National Food Safety Standard.Characterization of the isolates was analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis(PFGE)with XbaI and Spe I restriction enzymes.Results Cronobacter spp.strains were isolated from 25 samples,and the positive rates in infant powdered formulas and follow-up powdered formulas were 0.90%(10/1011)and 1.18%(15/1271),respectively.Analysis of variable data regarding different purchasing store formats,seasonality,and production locations as well as comparison of infant versus follow-up formulas did not reveal statistically significant factors.During the sampling period,one of six surveillance zones did exhibit a statistically significant trend towards higher positive rate.PFGE characterization of Cronobacter spp.to elucidate genetic diversity revealed only three pairs of Cronobacter spp.out of 25 having the same PFGE patterns.Conclusion The current investigation indicated a lower positive rate of Cronobacter spp.in the powdered formula in China.This evidence suggested contamination originating from multiple different sources during the manufacturing process.PEI Xiao Yan YAN Lin ZHU Jiang Hui LI Ning GUO Yun Chang FU Ping JIA Hua Yun ZHANG Xiu Li YANG Xiao Rong YANG Da Jin 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,2:4
20Implantable CMOS neuro-stimulus chip for visual prosthesis显示文摘A prototype chip with 2×2 pixels for implanting in blind patients affected by outer retinal degeneration is presented in this paper.This visual prosthesis chip imitates the degenerated photoreceptor cells,senses the incident light and stimulates the remaining healthy layers of retina or optic nerve.Each pixel integrates photodiode and stimulus pulse generator,converting the illumination on the eyes into 3-bit resolution bi-phasic current pulses.On-chip charge cancellation modules are used to discharge each electrode site for tissue safety.The prototype chip is designed and fabricated in 0.18-μm N-well CMOS (complementary metal oxide semiconductor) 1P6M Mix-signal process,with a ±2.5 V dual voltage supply.The functionality of the fabricated chip is demonstrated on anesthetized rabbits.Neural responses in visual cortex are successfully evoked by the neuro-stimulus chip through an on-board trigger interface and flexible electrode.ZHANG Xu PEI WeiHua HUANG BeiJu WANG ShuJing GUAN Ning GUO Kai WANG Yu GUI Qiang CHEN Jin WANG Kai WU HuiJuan LI XiaoXin LI Kai CHEN HongDa 2011Science China(Information Sciences)2011,54,4:3
