| 2 | Early diagnosis of bacterial and fungal infection in chronic cholestatic hepatitis B显示文摘AIM: To investigate the early diagnostic methods of bacterial and fungal infection in patients with chronic cholestatic hepatitis B.METHODS: One hundred and one adult in-patients with chronic hepatitis B were studied and divided into 3 groups:direct bilirubin (DBil)/total bilirubin (TBil)≥0.5, without bacterial and fungal infection (group A, n=-38); DBil/TBil<0.5, without bacterial and fungal infection (group B, n=23),DBil/TBil≥0.5, with bacterial or fungal infection (group C,rr=-40). The serum biochemical index and pulse rate were analyzed.RESULTS: Level of TBil, DBil, alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and DBiI/ALP in group A increased compared with that in group B. The level of ALP in group C decreased compared with that in group A, whereas the level of TBil, DBil and DBiI/ALP increased (ALP: 156+43, 199+68, respectively,P<0.05, TBil: 370+227, 220+206, respectively, P<0.01,DBil: 214+143, 146+136, respectively, P<0.01, DBiI/ALP:1.65+1.05, 0.78+0.70, respectively, P<0.001). The level of DBil and infection affected DBiI/ALP. Independent of theeffect of DBil, infection caused DBiI/ALP to rise (P<0.05).The pulse rate in group A decreased compared with that in group B (63.7+6.4, 77.7+11.4, respectively, P<0.001),and the pulse rate in group C increased compared withthat in group A (81.2+12.2, 63.7+6.4, respectively, P<0.001).The equation (infection=0.218 pusle rate +1.064 DBiI/ALP-16.361), with total accuracy of 85.5%, was obtained from stepwise logistic regression. Pulse rate (≥80/min) andDBiI/ALP (≥1.0) were used to screen infection. The sensitivity was 62.5% and 64.7% respectively, and the specificity was 100% and 82.8% respectively.CONCLUSION: Bacterial and fungal infection deterioratejaundice and increase pulse rate, decrease serum ALP andincrease DBiI/ALP. | 4 | Brain-targeting,acid-responsive antioxidant nanoparticles for stroke treatment and drug delivery显示文摘Stroke is the leading cause of death and disability.Currently,there is no effective pharmacological treatment for this disease,which can be partially attributed to the inability to efficiently deliver therapeutics to the brain.Here we report the development of natural compound-derived nanoparticles(NPs),which function both as a potent therapeutic agent for stroke treatment and as an efficient carrier for drug delivery to the ischemic brain.First,we screened a collection of natural nanomaterials and identified betulinic acid(BA)as one of the most potent antioxidants for stroke treatment.Next,we engineered BA NPs for preferential drug release in acidic ischemic tissue through chemically converting BA to betulinic amine(BAM)and for targeted drug delivery through surface conjugation of AMD3100,a CXCR4 antagonist.The resulting AMD3100-conjugated BAM NPs,or A-BAM NPs,were then assessed as a therapeutic agent for stroke treatment and as a carrier for delivery of NA1,a neuroprotective peptide.We show that intravenous administration of A-BAM NPs effectively improved recovery from stroke and its efficacy was further enhanced when NA1 was encapsulated.Due to their multifunctionality and significant efficacy,we anticipate that A-BAM NPs have the potential to be translated both as a therapeutic agent and as a drug carrier to improve the treatment of stroke. | Shenqi Zhang Bin Peng Zeming Chen Jiang Yu Gang Deng Youmei Bao Chao Ma Fengyi Du Wendy C.Sheu W.Taylor Kimberly J.Marc Simard Daniel Coman Qianxue Chen Fahmeed Hyder Jiangbing Zhou Kevin N.Sheth | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,10: | 1 |

| 7 | Sulfur dioxide-hydrogen peroxide relationships and acidification of precipitation in Guiyang area-a case study显示文摘-The concentrations of gas phase SO2, O3 and chemical composition of sequential rainwater samples were measured on 6/11/88 to 6/28/88 at some sites of Guiyang area. S (IV) was present in great excess of H2O2 in rainwater samples collected at residential sites of the city corresponding to high level of gas phase SO2. Considerable H2O2 in rainwater samples was observed in background air at suburbs. The evidence that clean rainwater samples were collected at 20km away from the city in 6/18/88 precipitation event revealed that the major process of acidification of the rain in the high polluted areas was below-cloud scavenging of trace gases. | 8 | Increased leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin- like domains 1 expression enhances chemosensitivity in glioma显示文摘Leucine-rich repeats and immunoglobulin-like domains 1 (LRIG1) is an anti-oncogene. LRIG1 is correlated with Bcl-2 in ependymomas. Decreased Bcl-2 and manganese superoxide dismutase expression can improve the chemosensitivity of glioma. In the present study, a tissue microarray of human brain astrocytomas was constructed. To investigate the relationship of LRIG1 with Bcl-2 and manganese superoxide dismutase, LRIG1, Bcl-2 and manganese su-peroxide dismutase expression in our tissue microarray was determined using immunohisto-chemistry. In addition, we constructed the LRIG1-U251 cell line, and its responses to doxoru-bicin and temozolomide were detected using the MTT assay. Results showed that LRIG1 ex-pression was significantly negatively correlated with Bcl-2 and manganese superoxide dismu-tase expression in glioma. Also, proliferation of LRIG1-U251 cells exposed to doxorubicin or temozolomide was significantly inhibited, i.e. in the LRIG1-U251 cell line, the chemosensitivity to doxorubicin and temozolomide was increased. | 13 | Transmission risk of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection:a systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Global evidence on the transmission of asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection needs to be synthesized.Methods:A search of 4 electronic databases(PubMed,EMBASE,Cochrane Library,and Web of Science databases)as of January 24,2021 was performed.Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses(PRISMA)guidelines were followed.Studies which reported the transmission rate among close contacts with asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 cases were included,and transmission activities occurred were considered.The trans-mission rates were pooled by zero-inflated beta distribution.The risk ratios(RRs)were calculated using random-effects models.Results:Of 4923 records retrieved and reviewed,15 studies including 3917 close contacts with asymptomatic indexes were eligible.The pooled transmission rates were 1.79 per 100 person-days(or 1.79%,95%confidence interval[CI]0.41%-3.16%)by asymptomatic index,which is significantly lower than by presymptomatic(5.02%,95%CI 2.37%-7.66%;p<0.001),and by symptomatic(5.27%,95%CI 2.40%-8.15%;p<0.001).Subgroup anal-yses showed that the household transmission rate of asymptomatic index was(4.22%,95%CI 0.91%-7.52%),four times significantly higher than non-household transmission(1.03%,95%CI 0.73%-1.33%;p=0.03),and the asymptomatic transmission rate in China(1.82%,95%CI 0.11%-3.53%)was lower than in other countries(2.22%,95%CI 0.67%-3.77%;p=0.01).Conclusions:People with asymptomatic SARS-CoV-2 infection are at risk of transmitting the virus to their close contacts,particularly in household settings.The transmission potential of asymptomatic infection is lower than symptomatic and presymptomatic infections.This meta-analysis provides evidence for predict-ing the epidemic trend and promulgating vaccination and other control measures.Registered with PROS-PERO International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews,CRD42021269446;http://gffzza558f388e8d84f11s5obxnwu6uou66n5u.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/prospero/display_record.php?RecordID=269446. | Ci Zhang Chao Zhou Wanqing Xu Shimin Zheng Yanxiao Gao Peiqi Li Luojia Deng Xuezhixing Zhang Qianxue Jiang Frank Qian Xianhong Li Honghong Wang Huachun Zou Yinglin Xia Tao Wang Hui Lu Han-Zhu Qian | 2023 | Infectious Medicine2023,2,1: | 0 |
| 14 | Relationship between FGF12 expression in high-grade gliomas and clinical features显示文摘Objective:gliomas are the most common intracranial tumors.Fibroblast growth factor-12(FGF12),which belongs to the fibroblast growth factor(FGFs)family,plays an important role in cell mitosis,as well as in other life functions,such as embryo development,tissue repair,cell proliferation,and tumor growth and invasion.The purpose of this study was to explore the potential value of FGF12 in high-grade gliomas and to predict its drug sensitivity.To provide a possible therapeutic target for glioma.Methods:high-grade glioma gene expression data and clinical information were downloaded from the gene expression omnibus(GEO)database,using the R language“impute”and“survival”survival analysis package.The FGF12 genes closely related to survival were screened,a survival curve was drawn,and clinical correlation analysis was conducted.The differentially expressed genes(DEGs)were defined as |logFC|>1,adj.PVal<0.05 as the standard.We used the David for Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)analysis,and constructed the protein-protein interactions(PPI)network.Then we used the Connectivity Map(CMAP)database for drug location,and the validation group was verified by the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas(CGGA)database in the same way.Results:we found that high FGF12 expression was associated with a higher survival rate.The same validation was performed in the validation group through the CGGA database,and the survival curve showed the same trend.The expression level of FGF12 is an independent factor that affects the life time and status of the samples,and it is a low risk factor.GO enrichment analysis showed that differential genes were enriched in matrix transmembrane transporter activity,ion channels and calcium ion active channels.KEGG showed that DEGs were enriched in the phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)-protein kinase B(Akt)signaling pathway,dopaminergic synapse and cyclic adenosine monophosphate(cAMP)signaling pathway.Four seed genes,GRIA2,COLLA2,GRIA4 and HES6,were obtained by PPI network analysis.The cAMP was used to analyze and obtained 7 small molecule drugs,such as merbromin,naloxone,AH-2384&ticarcillin,vincamine,amoxicillin,azacyclonol,which may be helpful in the prognosis of high-grade gliomas.Conclusion:FGF12 and its pathway may serve as a biomarker or therapeutic target for high-grade gliomas. | Zihan Song Yijie Li Zijun Zhao Liqiang Liu Qianxu Jin Yizheng Wang Shiyang Zhang Zongmao Zhao | 2021 | Journal of Translational Neuroscience2021,6,2: | 0 |
| 15 | Effects of nitrogen and phosphorus additions on soil microbial community structure and ecological processes in the farmland of Chinese Loess Plateau显示文摘Microorganisms regulate the responses of terrestrial ecosystems to anthropogenic nutrient inputs.The escalation of anthropogenic activities has resulted in a rise in the primary terrestrial constraining elements,namely nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P).Nevertheless,the specific mechanisms governing the influence of soil microbial community structure and ecological processes in ecologically vulnerable and delicate semi-arid loess agroecosystems remain inadequately understood.Therefore,we explored the effects of different N and P additions on soil microbial community structure and its associated ecological processes in the farmland of Chinese Loess Plateau based on a 36-a long-term experiment.Nine fertilization treatments with complete interactions of high,medium,and low N and P gradients were set up.Soil physical and chemical properties,along with the microbial community structure were measured in this study.Additionally,relevant ecological processes such as microbial biomass,respiration,N mineralization,and enzyme activity were quantified.To elucidate the relationships between these variables,we examined correlation-mediated processes using statistical techniques,including redundancy analysis(RDA)and structural equation modeling(SEM).The results showed that the addition of N alone had a detrimental effect on soil microbial biomass,mineralized N accumulation,andβ-1,4-glucosidase activity.Conversely,the addition of P exhibited an opposing effect,leading to positive influences on these soil parameters.The interactive addition of N and P significantly changed the microbial community structure,increasing microbial activity(microbial biomass and soil respiration),but decreasing the accumulation of mineralized N.Among them,N24P12 treatment showed the greatest increase in the soil nutrient content and respiration.N12P12 treatment increased the overall enzyme activity and total phospholipid fatty acid(PLFA)content by 70.93%.N and P nutrient contents of the soil dominate the microbial community structure and the corresponding changes in hydrolytic enzymes.Soil microbial biomass,respiration,and overall enzyme activity are driven by mineralized N.Our study provides a theoretical basis for exploring energy conversion processes of soil microbial community and environmental sustainability under long-term N and P additions in semi-arid loess areas. | KOU Zhaoyang LI Chunyue CHANG Shun MIAO Yu ZHANG Wenting LI Qianxue DANG Tinghui WANG Yi | 2023 | Journal of Arid Land2023,15,8: | 0 |

Results revealed that the cytoplasmic expression of LRIG1 was associated with expression of glutamate cysteine ligase catalytic subunit in the human ependymoma, while the nuclear expression of LRIG1 was associated with expression of thioredoxin reductase. In human oligodendroglioma, the cytoplasmic expression of LRIG1 was associated with expression of the glutamate cysteine ligase catalytic subunit. Both the nuclear and perinuclear expressions of LRIG1 were associated with expression of glutamate cysteine ligase regulatory subunit.
