2Effects of narrow plant spacing on root distribution and physiological nitrogen use efficiency in summer maize显示文摘The objective of this study was to understand the effects of plant spacing on grain yield and root competition in summer maize(Zea mays L.). Maize cultivar Denghai 661 was planted in rectangular tanks(0.54 m × 0.27 m × 1.00 m) under 27 cm(normal) and 6 cm(narrow) plant spacing and treated with zero and 7.5 g nitrogen(N) per plant. Compared to normal plant spacing, narrow plant spacing generated less root biomass in the 0–20 cm zone under both N rates, slight reductions of dry root weight in the 20–40 cm and 40–70 cm zones at the mid-grain filling stage, and slight variation of dry root weights in the 70–100 cm zone during the whole growth period. Narrow plant spacing decreased root reductive activity in all root zones, especially at the grain-filling stage. Grain yield and above-ground biomass were 5.0% and 8.4% lower in the narrow plant spacing than with normal plant spacing, although narrow plant spacing significantly increased N harvest index and N use efficiency in both grain yield and biomass, and higher N translocation rates from vegetative organs. These results indicate that the reductive activity of maize roots in all soil layers and dry weights of shallow roots were significantly decreased under narrow plant spacing conditions, resulting in lower root biomass and yield reduction at maturity. 3Meningeal lymphatic vessels regulate brain tumor drainage and immunity显示文摘Recent studies have shown that meningeal lymphatic vessels(MLVs),which are located both dorsally and basally beneath the skull,provide a route for draining macromolecules and trafficking immune cells from the central nervous system(CNS)into cervical lymph nodes(CLNs),and thus represent a potential therapeutic target for treating neurodegenerative and neuroinflammatory diseases.However,the roles of MLVs in brain tumor drainage and immunity remain unexplored.Here we show that dorsal MLVs undergo extensive remodeling in mice with intracranial gliomas or metastatic melanomas.RNA-seq analysis of MLV endothelial cells revealed changes in the gene sets involved in lymphatic remodeling,fluid drainage,as well as inflammatory and immunological responses.Disruption of dorsal MLVs alone impaired intratumor fluid drainage and the dissemination of brain tumor cells to deep CLNs(dCLNs).Notably,the dendritic cell(DC)trafficking from intracranial tumor tissues to dCLNs decreased in mice with defective dorsal MLVs,and increased in mice with enhanced dorsal meningeal lymphangiogenesis.Strikingly,disruption of dorsal MLVs alone,without affecting basal MLVs or nasal LVs,significantly reduced the efficacy of combined anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 checkpoint therapy in striatal tumor models.Furthermore,mice bearing tumors overexpressing VEGF-C displayed a better response to anti-PD-1/CTLA-4 combination therapy,and this was abolished by CCL21/CCR7 blockade,suggesting that VEGF-C potentiates checkpoint therapy via the CCL21/CCR7 pathway.Together,the results of our study not only demonstrate the functional aspects of MLVs as classic lymphatic vasculature,but also highlight that they are essential in generating an efficient immune response against brain tumors.Xueting Hu Qiuping Deng Lu Ma Qingqing Li Yidong Chen Yuhan Liao Fan Zhou Chen Zhang Linlin Shao Jun Feng Tubao He Weihai Ning Yan Kong Yingqing Huo Aibin He Bing Liu Jingjing Zhang Ralf Adams Yulong He Fuchou Tang Xiuwu Bian Jincai Luo 2020Cell Research2020,30,3:11
4Fluorescent nanoparticles for chemical and biological sensing显示文摘Fluorescent nanoparticles (NPs), including quantum dots (QDs), dye-doped NPs, and rare earth-based NPs, etc., have been a major focus of research and development during the past decade. The impetus behind such endeavors can be attributed to their unique chemical and optical properties, such as bright fluorescence, high photostability, large Stocks shift and flexible processability. The introduction of fluorescent NPs into analytical chemistry has opened up new venues for fluorescent analysis. In this review, we focus on the developments and analytical applications of fluorescent NPs in the chemical and biological sensing of pH, ions, organic compounds, small biological molecules, nucleic acids, proteins, virus and bacteria. The review also points out the in vitro and in vivo imaging application of fluorescent NPs at the cell and body levels. 5Genetic diversity,population structure,and relationships of apricot(Prunus)based on restriction site-associated DNA sequencing显示文摘Single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)are the most abundant form of genomic polymorphisms and are widely used in population genetics research.Here,high-throughput sequencing was used to examine the genome-level diversity,population structure,and relationships of apricot,which are important for germplasm conservation and molecular breeding.Restriction site-associated DNA sequencing(RAD-seq)was adopted to sequence 168 Prunus spp.accessions distributed in five ecological groups,including 74 accessions of cultivated Prunus armeniaca L.and 94 accessions of wild apricots(P.armeniaca L.and Prunus sibirica L.),which generated 417,961 high-quality SNPs.We used cluster,genetic structure,and principal component analyses to examine the genetic diversities and genetic relationships of the 168 accessions.The Dzhungar-Ili ecological group accessions showed the highest genetic diversity in terms of private allele number,observed heterozygosity,and nucleotide diversity.We speculate that the Central Asian ecological group accessions were domesticated from the Dzhungar-Ili ecological group accessions.The population structure and gene flow of the North China and European ecological group accessions suggested a genetic background of P.sibirica.We argue that the two groups should be considered hybrid swarms connected to P.sibirica by continuous and extensive gene flow.P.armeniaca originated in Northwest China(Ili Valley),subsequently spread throughout Central Asia,and eventually spread to Europe.In addition,selective sweep signatures in P.armeniaca during domestication from wild to cultivated apricots,combined with differentially expressed genes,underlie distinct fruit traits,including sugars,aromas,organic acids,and carotenoids.This study provides substantive and valuable genomic resources that will significantly advance apricot improvement and effective utilization.Wenwen Li Liqiang Liu Yanan Wang Qiuping Zhang Guoquan Fan Shikui Zhang Yatong Wang Kang Liao 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:9

7Supplementation of branched-chain amino acids in protein-restricted diets modulates the expression levels of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism associated regulators in the adipose tissue of growing pigs显示文摘This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of branched-chain amino acids(BCAA)supplemented in protein-restricted diets on the growth performance and the expression profile of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism related regulators in the white adipose tissue(WAT)of different regional depots including dorsal subcutaneous adipose(DSA) and abdominal subcutaneous adipose(ASA), A total of 24 crossbred barrows(7.40 ± 0.70 kg) were randomly divided into 4 groups and were fed the following isocaloric diets for 33 days: 1) a recommended adequate protein diet(AP, 20% CP, as a positive control); 2) a low protein diet(LP, 17% CP); 3) the LP diet supplemented with BCAA(LP + B, 17% CP) to reach the same level of the AP diet group; 4) the LP diet supplemented with 2 times the amount of BCAA(LP + 2B, 17% CP). The daily gain and daily feed intake of the LP diet group were the lowest among all the treatments(P < 0.01). The feed conversion was improved markedly in the group of LP + B compared with the LP diet group(P < 0.05). No significant difference was noted for the serum biochemical parameter concentrations of glucose, triglyceride, nonesterified fatty acid and insulin among the groups(P > 0.05). Moreover, BCAA supplementation down-regulated the expression levels of amino acid transporters including L-type amino acid transporter 1 and sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter 2 in DSA, but up-regulated the expression level of Ltype amino acid transporter 4 in ASA(P < 0.05), Meanwhile, the energy sensor AMP-activated protein kinase α was activated in the DSA of pigs fed LP diet and in the ASA of the pigs fed AP or LP + 2B diets(P < 0.05). The mRNA expression profile of the selected mitochondrial component and mitochondrial biogenesis associated regulators in DSA and ASA also responded differently to dietary BCAA supplementation. These results suggested that the growth performance of growing pigs fed protein restricted diets supplemented with BCAA could catch up to that of the pigs fed AP diets. 9Identification of a major quantitative trait locus and its candidate underlying genetic variation for rice stigma exsertion rate显示文摘Stigma exsertion in male sterile lines of hybrid rice is important for seed yield.In the present study, ZS616 [Oryza sativa subsp.Xian(indica)], a male sterile line with a stigma exsertion rate(SER) as high as 94.5%, was crossed to DS552, a japonica line with almost no exserted stigmas.F3 plants with extremely low and high SER were sequenced to identify SER-associated quantitative trait loci(QTL).A major QTL for SER, qSER-3.1, was identified along with other QTL on chromosome 3 in a 3.9 Mb region.A total of 307 nonsynonymous single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs) and 27 frame-shift insertion/deletions(InDels)differentiating ZS616 and DS552 were identified in the region containing qSER-3.1.Most SNPs(294) and InDels(25) were excluded after further analysis because they were shared by ZS616 and low(<2.0%) SER accessions in the Huazhong Agricultural University(HAU) core rice collection.Association analysis using the full HAU collection identified a 17-bp InDel in OS03 G0689400 as the most likely causal genetic variant underlying qSER-3.1.ZS616-type accessions(n = 54, with the 17-bp insertion) in the HAU collection had minimum(16.5%)and mean(39.6%) SERs significantly greater than those(n = 424) without the insertion(with minimum and mean SERs of 0.2% and 20.6%, respectively).Thus, this study identified a major QTL for stigma exsertion and revealed the mutation in a candidate gene for the QTL.Shouling Xu Yunchao Zheng Yang Liu Xiaohao Guo Yuanyuan Tan Qiuping Qian Qingyao Shu Jianzhong Huang 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,3:2
10Distribution law of rice pollen in the wind field of small UAV显示文摘The wind field produced by the rotor-wing UAV has a significant impact on the distribution of rice pollen,which directly influences hybrid rice breeding.This research aimed to explore the distribution law of rice pollen in the wind field of small UAV.Aviation Beidou Positioning System UB351 positions all sampling nodes for precise corresponding coordinates and spacing information,and draws UVA’s flying trajectories,thus providing accurate data for tests.Wireless sensor network measurement system was used to study the three-direction wind field produced by the rotor-wing UAV under various experimental factors and acquires wind field width and wind speed,and the data were compared with the area ratio and width of pollen distribution.Test of univariate normality was conducted through Shapiro-Wilk test and Kolmogorov-Smimov test.In order to figure out the appropriate flight speed for UAV’s pollination under pollen distribution law,it is also necessary to perform analysis of variances on regression model.The comparison of wind speed in longitudinal(X)and lateral(Y)direction show that as the major force of the horizontal wind field produced by the rotor-wing UAV,the wind from Y-direction forms the widest wind field.Moreover,flight speed mainly influences wind field width.To be specific,the width of horizontal wind field decreases as flight speed increases.Meanwhile,UAV flight speed also exerts significant impact on vertical wind field.Both the pollen distribution width of more than 5 pollen grains and the area ratio reached the maximum when the UAV flight was at 4.53 m/s,which was the most favorable speed to pollination.In addition,pollen quantity is closely associated with both horizontal and vertical wind field.With comparison of the pollen quantity of sampling nodes,it was found that the wind field produced by the rotor-wing UAV exerted asymmetrical impact on pollen distribution.Q-Q plot of SPSS verifies that pollen distribution is against normal distribution.The establishment of a multiple linear regression model of pollen distribution and wind speed in three directions indicates that pollen distribution quantity only shares positive linear relation with the wind field in X-direction.These findings provide a theoretical guidance for rice pollination by using agricultural UAVs.Li Jiyu Yubin Lan Wang Jianwei Chen Shengde Huang Cong Liu Qi Liang Qiuping 2017International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,4:2
11Fiber guiding at the Dirac frequency beyond photonic bandgaps显示文摘Light trapping within waveguides is a key practice of modern optics,both scientifically and technologically.Photonic crystal fibers traditionally rely on total internal reflection(index-guiding fibers)or a photonic bandgap(photonic-bandgap fibers)to achieve field confinement.Here,we report the discovery of a new light trapping within fibers by the so-called Dirac point of photonic band structures.Our analysis reveals that the Dirac point can establish suppression of radiation losses and consequently a novel guided mode for propagation in photonic crystal fibers.What is known as the Dirac point is a conical singularity of a photonic band structure where wave motion obeys the famous Dirac equation.We find the unexpected phenomenon of wave localization at this point beyond photonic bandgaps.This guiding relies on the Dirac point rather than total internal reflection or photonic bandgaps,thus providing a sort of advancement in conceptual understanding over the traditional fiber guiding.The result presented here demonstrates the discovery of a new type of photonic crystal fibers,with unique characteristics that could lead to new applications in fiber sensors and lasers.The Dirac equation is a special symbol of relativistic quantum mechanics.Because of the similarity between band structures of a solid and a photonic crystal,the discovery of the Dirac-point-induced wave trapping in photonic crystals could provide novel insights into many relativistic quantum effects of the transport phenomena of photons,phonons,and electrons.Kang Xie Wei Zhang Allan D Boardman Haiming Jiang Zhijia Hu Yong Liu Ming Xie Qiuping Mao Lei Hu Qian Li Tianyu Yang Fei Wen Erlei Wang 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:1
12Association of immunoglobulin G4-related disease with a family history of malignancy:A retrospective study of 168 cases显示文摘Objective:Immunoglobulin G4-related disease(IgG4-RD)is a systemic immune-mediated fibroinflammatory condition.Previous studies have indicated relationships between malignancy and autoimmunity.This retrospective cohort study aimed to determine IgG4-RD incidence and clinical features in patients with a family history of malignancy.Methods:To analyze the relationship between IgG4-RD and family history of malignancy,we reviewed IgG4-RD patients with a family history of malignancy diagnosed in various departments in West China Hospital,Sichuan University from December 2012 to September 2019.Clinical data and laboratory features were compared between IgG4-RD patients with and without a family history of malignancy.Results:Among 168 enrolled patients with IgG4-RD,22(13.1%)had a family history of malignancy.The most frequently involved system in family members with malignancy was the digestive system(38.5%).Among patients with a family history of malignancy,the most frequently involved organs in IgG4-RD were the pancreas(31.9%)and lymph nodes(31.9%).Age at symptom onset was older in IgG4-RD patients with a family history of malignancy than in patients without a family history of malignancy(50–59 years:36.3%vs.16.4%,p=0.0393).Hemoglobin(p=0.0172)and albumin(p=0.0247)levels were higher and globulin(p=0.0232)levels were lower in patients with a family history of malignancy.Conclusions:Our findings suggest that a family history of malignancy may be associated with IgG4-RD development.We hypothesize that genetic susceptibility may be involved in the pathogenesis of IgG4-RD.Diping Hu Yanhong Li Yu Zhou Yubin Luo Lu Cheng Chunyu Tan Qiuping Zhang Yi Zhao Yi Liu 2021Rheumatology & Autoimmunity2021,1,2:1

15Expression Pattern and Target Gene of bbu-miR-103-1 in Buffalo(Bubalus bubalis) at Lactation and Non-lactation Periods显示文摘[Objective] The paper aimed to investigate the expression pattern of bbu-miR-103-1 in buffalo( Bubalus bubalis) at lactation and non-lactation periods,and to predict its target gene and function. [Method]Expression pattern of bbu-miR-103-1 at lactation and non-lactation periods were detected by qRT-PCR.The precursor expression plasmid of bbu-miR-103-1 was constructed and named LpEZX-pre-miR-103-1. It was packaged and propagated to produce high-titer lentivirus in 293 T cell lines,which could be used to infect buffalo mammary epithelial cells( BMECs) and over express bbu-miR-103-1. The inhibitor of bbu-miR-103-1 was chemically synthesized and transfected into BMECs to suppress bbu-miR-103-1 at the same time. The relative expression of pantothenate kinase 3( PANK3) and milk fat metabolism related genes were detected by qRT-PCR. [Result]The relative expression of bbu-miR-103-1 at lactation period was 5. 29 times higher than that at non-lactation period in buffalo( P < 0. 01). The LpEZX-pre-miR-103-1 had been successfully constructed and packaged with the infection titer of 3. 47 × 10~6 PFU/m L. Overexpress or suppress of bbu-miR-103-1 extremely down-regulated or up-regulated the expression level of PANK3 in BMECs( P < 0. 01).Over expression of bbu-miR-103-1 extremely enhanced the expression of Acetyl-CoA carboxylase alpha( ACACA),Glycerol-3-phosphate acyltransferase 1 mitochondrial( GPAM),Diacylglycerol Oacyltransferase 1( DGAT1) and Pyruvate dehydrogenase lipoamide kinase isozyme 4( PDK4)( P < 0. 01),and also significantly up-regulated the expression of sterol regulatory element binding protein-1c( SREBP1c),Adipose differentiation-related protein( ADFP),Cluster of differentiation36( CD36),Acetyl-Co A synthetase short-chain subfamily member 1( ACSS1)( P < 0. 05). 19Synergically enhanced piezocatalysis performance of eco-friendly(K_(0.52)Na_(0.48))NbO_(3) through ferroelectric polarization and defects显示文摘Piezocatalysis has attracted unprecedented research interest as a newly emerging catalysis technology.However,the inherent insulating property of ferroelectric materials ultimately leads to the poor vibration-electricity conversion ability.Herein,this work reports the(K_(0.52)Na_(0.48))NbO_(3) ferroelectric ceramics(KNNFCx),for which the FeCo modification strategy is proposed.The substitution of the moderate amount of FeCo(x=0.015)at Nb site not only optimizes ferroelectricity but also produces beneficial defects,notably increasing Rhodamine B water purification efficiency to 95%.The pinning effect of monovalent oxygen vacancies on ferroelectric domains is responsible for the excellent ferroelectric polarization of KNNFC0.015 through the generation of an internal field to promote charge carriers separation and reduce nonradiative recombination.Importantly,the accompanying electron carriers can easily move to the material surface and participate in redox reactions because they have low activation energy.Therefore,ferroelectric polarization and defects play synergetic roles in enhancing piezocatalytic performance.Min Zhou Laijun Liang Dingze Lu Xiaomei Lu Zheng Wang Fengzhen Huang Pengfei Cheng Dongdong Liu Mengqi Tian Qiuping Wang Yunjie Zhang 2023International Journal of Minerals,Metallurgy and Materials2023,30,10:1
