Vectorial optical fields: recent advances and future prospects显示文摘Driven by their potential applications, vectorial optical fields with spatially inhomogeneous states of polarization within the cross section have drawn significant attention recently. This work intends to review some of the latest development of this rapidly growing field of optics and offer a general overview of the current status of this field in a few areas. Mathematical descriptions of generalized vectorial optical fields are provided along with several special examples. A time-reversal methodology for the creation of a wide variety of exotic optical focal fields with prescribed characteristics within the focal volume is presented. Recently developed methods for the generation of vectorial optical fields that utilize fiber lasers, digital lasers, vectorial optical field generator, metasurfaces or photoalignment liquid crystals are summarized. The interactions of these vectorial optical fields with various micro-and nano-structures are presented and the prospects of their potential applications are discussed. The connection of vectorial optical fields with higher dimensionality in quantum information is summarized. | Jian Chen Chenhao Wan Qiwen Zhan | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018,63,1: | 15
Trend of Salt Lake Changes in the Background of Global Warming and Tactics for Adaptation to the Changes显示文摘Salt lakes are a mirror of climatic changes and provide holographic records of environmental changes of lakes. According to a study of geological hazards in typical salt lake areas in China and other regions, the authors explain how geological hazards in salt lake areas are caused by natural agents and how humans can seek benefits, avoid hazards and reduce losses on the premise that they have monitored and mastered the trend of salt lake changes in advance and even can store flood and recharge water in lakes and extract saline resources. The climate in western China is probably turning from warm-dry to warm-moist. The authors analyze the change trend of salt lakes sensu lato (with salinity≥0.3 wt% (NaCl)eq) and salt lakes sensu stricto (with salinity ≥3.5 wt% (NaCl)eq) in China in such climatic conditions and distinguish three types of salt lake areas (i.e. lake water rising type, lake water falling type and lake water rising and unstable type) according to the characteristics of lake water rising and shrinking. In order to conform to the climatic and lake changes in China's salt lake areas, the authors propose to add and improve hydrological and meteorological observation stations and integrate observations with remote sensing monitoring in important salt lake areas and set up multidisciplinary and interdepartmental basic projects to monitor and study recent climatic and environmental changes in salt lake areas of western China. Moreover, it is necessary to build additional flood-control and drought-preventing water conservancy facilities in key salt lake areas and work out measures for ecological protection in salt lake areas. Full consideration should be given to the influence of flooding when building saltfields and implementing capital projects. | ZHENGMianping QIWen JIANGXianfeng ZHAOYuanyi LIMinghui | 2004 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2004,78,3: | 12
The multiple-parameter fractional Fourier transform显示文摘The fractional Fourier transform(FRFT) has multiplicity, which is intrinsic in frac-tional operator.A new source for the multiplicity of the weight-type fractional Fou-rier transform(WFRFT) is proposed, which can generalize the weight coefficients of WFRFT to contain two vector parameters M,N ∈ZM.Therefore a generalized frac-tional Fourier transform can be defined, which is denoted by the multiple-parameter fractional Fourier transform(MPFRFT).It enlarges the multiplicity of the FRFT,which not only includes the conventional FRFT and general multi-fractional Fourier transform as special cases, but also introduces new fractional Fourier transforms. It provides a unified framework for the FRFT,and the method is also available for fractionalizing other linear operators. In addition, numerical simulations of the MPFRFT on the Hermite-Gaussian and rectangular functions have been performed as a simple application of MPFRFT to signal processing. | LANG Jun TAO Ran RAN QiWen WANG Yue | 2008 | Science in China(Series F)2008,51,8: | 12
The design, mechanism and biomedical application of self-healing hydrogels显示文摘Hydrogels are promising materials with outstanding characteristics such as tunable and reversible physical/chemical properties,stimuli-responsiveness,biomimetic,and biocompatibility. However, the structural and functional integrity of the hydrogels can be compromised by external mechanical forces or chemical erosion when used, especially in sophisticated in vivo environment. To address this problem,self-healing hydrogels which possess the intrinsic ability of self-repair have been developed to adapt to destructive factors. In this review,we focused on the current advances made in self-healing hydrogels.First, the testing methods for self-healing hydrogels were summarized. Then,we looked into the designing strategies of self-healing hydrogels and illustrated the self-healing mechanism. What's more, the biomedical application of self-healing hydrogels in vivo was discussed. | Qiwen Li Chenlu Liu Junru Wen Yongzhi Wu Yue Shan Jinfeng Liao | 2017 | Chinese Chemical Letters2017,28,9: | 11
Engineering photonic angular momentum with structured light:a review显示文摘Structured light with inhomogeneous phase, amplitude, and polarization spatial distributions that represent an infinite-dimensional space of eigenstates for light as the ideal carrier can provide a structured combination of photonic spin and orbital angular momentum(OAM).Photonic spin angular momentum(SAM)interactions with matter have long been studied, whereas the photonic OAM has only recently been discovered, receiving attention in the past three decades.Although controlling polarization(i.e.,SAM)alone can provide useful information about the media with which the light interacts, light fields carrying both OAM and SAM may provide additional information, permitting new sensing mechanisms and light–matter interactions. We summarize recent developments in controlling photonic angular momentum(AM)using complex structured optical fields.Arbitrarily oriented photonic SAM and OAM states may be generated through careful engineering of the spatial and temporal structures of optical fields. Moreover,we discuss potential applications of specifically engineered photonic AM states in optical tweezers, directional coupling, and optical information transmission and processing. | Jian Chen Chenhao Wan Qiwen Zhan | 2021 | Advanced Photonics2021,3,6: | 11

Supplemental magnolol or honokiol attenuates adverse effects in broilers infected with Salmonella pullorum by modulating mucosal gene expression and the gut microbiota显示文摘Background:Salmonella pullorum is one of the most harmful pathogens to avian species.Magnolol and honokiol, natural compounds extracted from Magnolia officinalis, exerts anti-inflammatory,anti-oxidant and antibacterial activities. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of dietary supplemental magnolol and honokiol in broilers infected with S.pullorum.A total of 360 one-day-old broilers were selected and randomly divided into four groups with six replicates:the negative control group(CTL),S.pullorum-infected group(SP),and the S.pulloruminfected group supplemented with 300 mg/kg honokiol(SPH)or magnolol(SPM).Results:The results showed that challenging with S.pullorum impaired growth performance in broilers,as indicated by the observed decreases in body weight(P<0.05)and average daily gains(P<0.05),along with increased spleen(P<0.01)and bursa of Fabricus weights(P<0.05),serum globulin contents, and the decreased intestine villus height and villus/crypt ratios(P<0.05).Notably,supplemental magnolol and honokiol attenuated these adverse changes, and the effects of magnolol were better than those of honokiol. Therefore,we performed RNA-Seq in ileum tissues and 16S rRNA gene sequencing of ileum bacteria. Our analysis revealed that magnolol increased the α-diversity(observed species,Chao1,ACE,and PD whole tree)and β-diversity of the ileum bacteria(P<0.05).In addition, magnolol supplementation increased the abundance of Lactobacillus(P<0.01)and decreased unidentified Cyanobacteria(P<0.05)both at d 14 and d 21.Further study confirmed that differentially expressed genes induced by magnolol and honokiol supplementation enriched in cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions,in the intestinal immune network for IgA production, and in the cell adhesion molecule pathways. Conclusions:Supplemental magnolol and honokiol alleviated S.pullorum-induced impairments in growth performance, and the effect of magnolol was better than that of honokiol, which could be partially due to magnolol’s ability to improve the intestinal microbial and mucosal barrier. | Fang Chen Hao Zhang Encun Du Qiwen Fan Na Zhao Feng Jin Wei Zhang Wanzheng Guo Shaowen Huang Jintao Wei | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,1: | 9
Expression of neurocan mRNA and ultrastructure of brain tissue after cerebral ischemia and reperfusion in stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rats treated by electroacupuncture显示文摘We established a stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rat model by bilateral constriction of the renal artery with sliver loop clips. After ten weeks, middle cerebral artery occlusion was induced for 2 hours. The rats then received electro-acupuncture at Baihui (DU 20) and Dazhui (DU 14) after onset of ischemia for 30 days. In situ hybridization study showed that electroacupuncture significantly reduced the number of neurocan mRNA-positive cells in the ischemic penumbra and hippocampal tissues of rats. Electron microscopy results demonstrated that the structure of neurons and blood vessels in the ischemic tissues were restored with electroacupuncture. Overall, these data suggest that electroacupuncture may protect neurons against ischemic reperfusion injury in stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rats, which may be regulated by downregulation of expression of nerve inhibitory factor neurocan mRNA. | Feng Tan Saiying Wan Haike Wu Qiwen HUO Jinliang Wang Wenlin Chen Meifeng Fang Xiaolin Liu Xuewen Wang Jingbo Sun | 2011 | Neural Regeneration Research2011,6,36: | 8
Optical forces of focused femtosecond laserpulses on nonlinear optical Rayleigh particles显示文摘The principle of optical trapping is conventionally based on the interaction of optical fields with linear-induced polarizations. However, the optical force originating from the nonlinear polarization becomes significant when nonlinear optical nanoparticles are trapped by femtosecond laser pulses. Herein we develop the time-averaged optical forces on a nonlinear optical nanoparticle using high-repetition-rate femtosecond laser pulses, based on the linear and nonlinear polarization effects. We investigate the dependence of the optical forces on the magnitudes and signs of the refractive nonlinearities. It is found that the self-focusing effect enhances the trapping ability, whereas the self-defocusing effect leads to the splitting of the potential well at the focal plane and destabilizes the optical trap. Our results show good agreement with the reported experimental observations and provide theoretical support for capturing nonlinear optical particles. | LIPING GONG BING GU GUANGHAO RUI YIPING CUI ZHUQING ZHU QIWEN ZHAN | 2018 | Photonics Research2018,6,2: | 8
Recent advances in photodynamic therapy based on emerging two-dimensional layered nanomaterials显示文摘Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a promising non-invasive therapy approach for various diseases including malignant tumor. The process of PDT involves three interrelated aspects, namely photosensitizer(PS),light source, and oxygen, among which PS is the decisive factor that determines its anticancer efficiency. There exist some defects in currently applied PDT,such as inadequate production of reactive oxygen species(ROS),poor penetration of exciting light, insufficient oxygen supply, and nonselective distribution of PS.With unique physicochemical and optical properties,two-dimensional nanomaterials(2DNMs)have aroused great interest in biomedical fields.2DNMs-based PDT is promising to significantly improve antitumor efficacy compared to conventional PDT.In this review,we will firstly introduce the underlying mechanism of PDT and how 2DNMs are absorbed and distribute inside tumor cells. After that,we will not only illustrate how 2DNMs-based PDT can enhance tumor-killing efficacy and minimize side-effects through conquering the above-mentioned defects of conventional PDT and the preparation process of 2DNMs,but also elaborate recent advances about 2DNMs-based PDT.Lastly,we will summarize the challenges and future prospects of 2DNMs-based PDT. | Xinqiang Wu Xiaofeng Jiang Taojian Fan Zhiwei Zheng Zhaoyuan Liu Yubin Chen Liangqi Cao Zhongjian Xie Dawei Zhang Jiaqi Zhao Qiwen Wang Zhenhui Huang Zhijian Chen Ping Xue Han Zhang | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,6: | 6
Determination of the ^(12)C(p, γ)^(13)N reaction rates fromthe ^(12)C(~7Li,~6He)^(13)N reaction显示文摘The angular distribution of the 12C(7Li,6He)13N reaction at E(7Li) = 44.0 MeV was measured at the HI-13 tandem accelerator of Beijing, China. The asymptotic normalization coefficient (ANC) of 13N → 12C + p was derived to be (1.64 ± 0.11) fm-1/2 through the distorted wave Born approximation (DWBA) analysis. The ANC was then used to deduce the astrophysical S (E) factors and reaction rates for the 12C(p,γ)13N direct capture reaction at energies of astrophysical relevance. | LI ZhiHong, SU Jun, GUO Bing, LI ZhiChang, BAI XiXiang, LIU JianCheng, LI YunJu, YAN ShengQuan, WANG BaoXiang, WANG YouBao, LIAN Gang, ZENG Sheng, LI ErTao, CHEN YongShou, SHU NengChuan, FAN QiWen & LIU WeiPing China Institute of Atomic Energy, Beijing 102413, China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,4: | 6
Mapping the immune microenvironment for mandibular alveolar bone homeostasis at single-cell resolution显示文摘Alveolar bone is the thickened ridge of jaw bone that supports teeth. It is subject to constant occlusal force and pathogens invasion, and is therefore under active bone remodeling and immunomodulation.Alveolar bone holds a distinct niche from long bone considering their different developmental origin and postnatal remodeling pattern. However,a systematic explanation of alveolar bone at single-cell level is still lacking. Here,we construct a single-cell atlas of mouse mandibular alveolar bone through single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq).A more active immune microenvironment is identified in alveolar bone, with a higher proportion of mature immune cells than in long bone.Among all immune cell populations, the monocyte/macrophage subpopulation most actively interacts with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)subpopulation.Alveolar bone monocytes/macrophages express a higher level of Oncostatin M(Osm)compared to long bone, which promotes osteogenic differentiation and inhibits adipogenic differentiation of MSCs.In summary, our study reveals a unique immune microenvironment of alveolar bone, which may provide a more precise immune-modulatory target for therapeutic treatment of oral diseases. | Weimin Lin Qiwen Li Danting Zhang Xiaohan Zhang Xingying Qi Qian Wang Yaqian Chen Caojie Liu Hanwen Li Shiwen Zhang Yuan Wang Bin Shao Li Zhang Quan Yuan | 2021 | Bone Research2021,9,1: | 6
Self-starting passively mode-locked all fiber laser based on carbon nanotubes with radially polarized emission显示文摘We demonstrate an all fiber passively mode-locked laser emitting a radially polarized beam by using a few-mode fiber Bragg grating to achieve mode selection and spectrum filtering. An offset splicing of single-mode fiber with four-mode fiber is utilized as a mode coupler in the laser cavity. Carbon nanotubes are introduced into the laser cavity as the saturable absorber to achieve self-start mode locking. The laser operates at 1547.5 nm with a narrow spectrum width of 0.3 nm at 30 d B. The emitted mode-locked pulses have a duration of 22.73 ps and repetition of10.61 MHz. | 15 | 800 Gbit/s transmission over 1 km single-mode fiber using a four-channel silicon photonic transmitter显示文摘We demonstrate the optical transmission of an 800 Gbit/s(4×200 Gbit/s)pulse amplitude modulation-4(PAM-4)signal and a 480 Gbit/s(4×120 Gbit/s)on–off-keying(OOK)signal by using a high-bandwidth(BW)silicon photonic(SiP)transmitter with the aid of digital signal processing(DSP).In this transmitter,a four-channel SiP modulator chip is co-packaged with a four-channel driver chip, with a measured 3 dB BW of 40 GHz.DSP is applied in both the transmitter and receiver sides for pre-/post-compensation and bit error rate(BER)calculation.Back-to-back(B2B)BERs of the PAM-4 signal and OOK signal are first measured for each channel of the transmitter with respect to a variety of data rates.Similar BER performance of four channels shows good uniformity of the transmitter between different channels. The BER penalty of the PAM-4 and OOK signals for 500 m and 1 km standard single-mode fiber(SSMF)transmission is then experimentally tested by using one channel of the transmitter. For a 200 Gbit/s PAM-4 signal, the BER is below the hard-decision forward error correction(HD-FEC)threshold for B2B and below the soft-decision FEC(SD-FEC)threshold after 1 km transmission. For a 120 Gbit/s OOK signal, the BER is below SD-FEC threshold for B2B.After 500 m and 1 km transmission, the data rate of the OOK signal shrinks to 119 Gbit/s and 118 Gbit/s with the SD-FEC threshold, respectively. Finally, the 800 Gbit/s PAM-4 signal with 1 km transmission is achieved with the BER of all four channels below the SD-FEC threshold. | Hongguang Zhang Miaofeng Li Yuguang Zhang Di Zhang Qiwen Liao Jian He Shenglei Hu Bo Zhang Lei Wang Xi Xiao Nan Qi Shaohua Yu | 2020 | Photonics Research2020,8,11: | 5

Survival difference between EGFR Del19 and L858R mutant advanced non-small cell lung cancer patients receiving gefitinib:a propensity score matching analysis显示文摘Objective: Although superior clinical benefits of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs) in the treatment of advanced non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) had been reported, the survival difference between exon 19 deletion(Del19) and exon 21 Leu858 Arg substitution(L858 R) remains controversial. The purpose of this study is to investigate the differences in progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) between different EGFR mutant subtypes among advanced NSCLC patients receiving gefitinib. Methods: There were 204 advanced NSCLC patients with EGFR mutations treated with gefitinib were enrolled in this retrospective cohort study.Patients were divided into the EGFR Del19 group and the L858 R mutated group according to their mutant subtype.Propensity score matching(PSM) was conducted by using a nearest-neighbor algorithm(1:1) to adjust for demographical and clinical covariates.Survival curves were constructed with the Kaplan-Meier method and compared by using the log-rank test. Results: The PFS in Del19 group was similar to that in the L858 R group [before PSM 8.6 vs.7.2 months,P=0.072; after PSM 7.3 vs.7.2 months,P=0.155].No differences were detected in OS between the L858 R and the Del19 group(before PSM 17.8 vs.13.1 months,P=0.253; after PSM 16.9 vs.13.1 months,P=0.339).The Del19 group was significantly younger compared with the L858 R mutation group in age(P=0.015).Conclusions: No significant difference was found in the PFS or OS between the Del19 and L858 R mutant NSCLC patients receiving gefitinib. The age gap might contribute to the survival differences between Del19 and L858 R groups.PSM is of important value to the elimination of potential bias. | Minglei Zhuo Qiwen Zheng Jun Zhao Meina Wu Tongtong An Yuyan Wang Jianjie Li Shuhang Wang Jia Zhong Xue Yang Hanxiao Chen Bo Jia Zhi Dong Emei Gao JingjingWang Ziping Wang | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6: | 4
Optically induced rotation of Rayleigh particles by arbitrary photonic spin显示文摘Optical trapping techniques hold great interest for their advantages that enable direct handling of nanoparticles. In this work, we study the optical trapping effects of a diffraction-limited focal field possessing an arbitrary photonic spin and propose a convenient method to manipulate the movement behavior of the trapped nanoparticles. In order to achieve controllable spin axis orientation and ellipticity of the tightly focused beam in three dimensions, an efficient method to analytically calculate and experimentally generate complex optical fields at the pupil plane of a high numerical aperture lens is developed. By numerically calculating the optical forces and torques of Rayleigh particles with spherical/ellipsoidal shape, we demonstrate that the interactions between the tunable photonic spin and nanoparticles lead to not only 3D trapping but also precise control of the nanoparticles' movements in terms of stable orientation, rotational orientation, and rotation frequency. This versatile trapping method may open up new avenues for optical trapping and their applications in various scientific fields. | GUANGHAO RUI YING LI SICHAO ZHOU YUSONG WANG BING GU YIPING CUI QIWEN ZHAN | 2019 | Photonics Research2019,7,1: | 4

A Rate-Dependent Peridynamic Model for the Dynamic Behavior of Ceramic Materials显示文摘In this study,a new bond-based peridynamic model is proposed to describe the dynamic properties of ceramics under impact loading.Ceramic materials show pseudo-plastic behavior under certain compressive loadings with high strain-rate,while the characteristic brittleness of the material dominates when it is subjected to tensile loading. In this model, brittle response under tension, softening plasticity under compression and strain-rate effect of ceramics are considered, which makes it possible to accurately capture the overall dynamic process of ceramics. This enables the investigation of the fracture mechanism for ceramic materials, during ballistic impact,in more detail.Furthermore,a bond-force updating algorithm is introduced to perform the numerical simulation and solve the derived equations. The proposed model is then used to analyze the dynamic response of ceramics tiles under impact loading to assess its validity. The results of damage development in ceramic materials are calculated and compared with the experimental results. The simulation results are consistent with the experiments, which indicates that the proposed rate-dependent peridynamic model has the capability to describe damage propagation in ceramics with good accuracy. Finally, based on a comparison between simulation and experimental results,it can be concluded that the damage results are in better agreement with experimental results than non-ordinary state-based peridynamic method. | Bufan Chu Qiwen Liu Lisheng Liu Xin Lai Hai Mei | 2020 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2020,,7: | 3
