Screening for gastric cancer in China:Advances, challenges and visions显示文摘Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the major cancers in China and all over the world. Most GCs are diagnosed at an advanced stage with unfavorable prognosis.Along with some other countries,China has developed the government-funded national screening programs for GC and other major cancers.GC screening has been shown to effectively decrease the incidence of and mortality from GC in countries adopting nationwide screening programs(Japan and Korea)and in studies based on selected Chinese populations. The screening of GC relies mostly on gastroendoscopy, the accuracy, reliability and safety of which have been indicated by previous studies. However, considering its invasive screening approach, requirements on skilled endoscopists and pathologists, and a high cost, developing noninvasive methods to amend endoscopic screening would be highly needed.Numerous studies have examined biomarkers for GC screening and the combination of biomarkers involving pepsinogen, gastrin, and Helicobacter pylori antibodies has been proposed for risk stratification, seeking to narrow down the high-risk populations for further endoscopy.Despite all the achievements of endoscopic screening, evidence on appropriate screening age, intervals for repeated screening, novel biomarkers promoting precision prevention, and health economics need to be accumulated to inform policymakers on endoscopic screening in China. With the guide of Health China 2030 Planning Outline,we have golden opportunities to promote prevention and control of GC.In this review,we summarize the characteristics of screening programs in China and other East Asian countries and introduce the past and current approaches and strategies for GC screening, aiming for featuring the latest advances and key challenges, and illustrating future visions of GC screening. | Xiaohan Fan Xiangxiang Qin Yang Zhang Zhexuan Li Tong Zhou Jingying Zhang Weicheng You Wenqing Li Kaifeng Pan | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2021,33,2: | 21
Ductile deformation within Upper Himalaya Crystalline Sequence and geological implications,in Nyalam area,Southern Tibet显示文摘The South Tibet Detachment System(STDS) is a flat normal fault that separates the Upper Himalaya Crystalline Sequence(UHCS) below from the Tethyan Sedimentary Sequence(TSS) above.Timing of deformations related to the STDS is critical to understand the mechanism and evolution of the Himalaya collision zone. The Nyalam detachment(ND)(~86°E) locates in the middle portion of STDS(81°-89°E).Dating of deformed leucocratic dykes that are most probably syntectonic at different depth beneath the ND,allow us to constrain the timing of deformation.(1) Dyke T11N37 located ~3500 m structurally below the ND emplaced at 27.4± 0.2 Ma;(2) Dyke T11N32 located ~1400 m structurally below the ND emplaced at 22.0±0.3 Ma;(3) T11N25 located within the top to the north STD shear zone,~150 m structurally below the ND,emplaced at 17.1±0.2 Ma.Combining ND footwall cooling history and T11N25 deformation temperature,we indicate a probable onset of top to the north deformation at ~16 Ma at this location. These results show an upward younging of the probable timing of onset of the deformation at different structural distance below the ND.We then propose a new model for deformation migration below the ND with deformation starting by pure shear deformation at depth prior to ~27.5 Ma that migrates upward at a rate of ~ 0.3 mm/a until ~18 Ma when deformation switches to top to the north shearing in the South Tibet Detachment shear zone(STDsz). As deformation on the ND stops at 14-13 Ma this would imply that significant top to the North motion would be limited to less than 5 Ma and would jeopardize the importance of lower channel flow. | LIU XiaoBing LIU XiaoHan LELOUP P.H. | 3 | Puerarin reduces apoptosis in rat hippocampal neurons cultured in high glucose medium by modulating the p38 mitogen activated protein kinase and c-Jun N-terminal kinase signaling pathways显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the neuroprotective effect of puerarin on rat hippocampal neurons cultured in high glucose medium, and to examine the role of the p38 mitogen activated protein kinase(p38 MAPK) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) signaling pathways in this effect.METHODS: Primary cultures of hippocampal neurons were prepared from newborn Sprague Dawley rats. Neuron-specific enolase immunocytochemistry was used to identify neurons. The neurons were cultured with normal medium(control group) or with high-glucose medium(high-glucose group),and puerarin(puerarin group), a p38 MAPK inhibitor(SB239063; p38 MAPK inhibitor group) or a JNK inhibitor(SP600125; JNK inhibitor group) were added. After 72 h of treatment, terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nick end labeling assay was performed to detect apoptosis, and western blotting was used to assess protein levels of p-p38, p38, p-JNK and JNK.RESULTS: In the high-glucose group, the neuronal apoptosis rate and the p-p38/p38 and p-JNK/JNK ratios were higher than in the control group. The p38 MAPK and JNK inhibitors prevented this increase in the apoptosis rate. The apoptosis rates in the puerarin group, the p38 MAPK inhibitor group and the JNK inhibitor group were significantly decreased compared with the high-glucose group. Moreover, protein levels of p-p38 and p-JNK were significantly reduced, and the p-p38/p38 and p-JNK/JNK ratios were decreased in the puerarin group compared with the high-glucose group. In addition, compared with the high-glucose group,p-p38 levels and the p-p38/p38 ratio were reduced in the p38 MAPK inhibitor group, and p-JNK levels and the p-JNK/JNK ratio were decreased in the JNK inhibitor group.CONCLUSION: Puerarin attenuates neuronal apoptosis induced by high glucose by reducing the phosphorylation of p38 and JNK. | Xu Xiaohan Wang Jingbo Zhang Hong Tian Guoqing Liu Yuqin | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,1: | 13
Coal and rock fissure evolution and distribution characteristics of multi-seam mining显示文摘Henan Pingdingshan No.10 mine is prone to both coal and gas outbursts. The E_(9-10)coal seam is the main coal-producing seam but has poor quality ventilation, thus making it relatively difficult for gas extraction. The F_(15)coal seam,at its lower section,is not prone to coal and gas outbursts. The average seam separation distance of 150 m is greater than the upper limit for underside protective seam mining.Based on borehole imaging technology for field exploration of coal and rock fracture characteristics and discrete element numerical simulation,we have studied the evolution laws and distribution characteristics of the coal and rock fissure field between these two coal seams.By analysis of the influential effect of group F coal mining on the E_(9-10)coal seam,we have shown that a number of small fissures also develop in the area some 150 m above the overlying strata. The width and number of the fissures also increase with the extent of mining activity. Most of the fissures develop at a low angle or even parallel to the strata. The results show that the mining of the F_(15)coal seam has the effect of improving the permeability of the E_(9-10)coal seam. | Zhang Dongming Qi Xiaohan Yin Guangzhi Zheng Binbin | 2013 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2013,23,6: | 11

First, a time-of-use price strategy is adopted to guide users to change their electricity consumption habits for participation in the demand response, and a demand response model is established. Then, particle swarm optimization(PSO)is used with the aim of minimizing the operation cost of the microgrid to achieve economic dispatching of the microgrid. This considers power balance equation constraints, unit operation constraints, energy storage constraints, and heat storage constraints. Finally, the simulation results show the improved level of photoelectric consumption using the proposed scheme and the economic benefits of the microgrid. | Chunxia Dou Xiaohan Zhou Tengfei Zhang Shiyun Xu | 2020 | Journal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy2020,8,3: | 10 |
Restoration of electrical microenvironment enhances bone regeneration under diabetic conditions by modulating macrophage polarization显示文摘Macrophage-mediated inflammation compromises bone repair in diabetic patients.Electrical signaling cues are known to regulate macrophage functions. However, the biological effects of electrical microenvironment from charged biomaterials on the immune response for regulating osteogenesis under diabetic conditions remain to be elucidated.Herein the endogeneous electrical microenvironment of native bone tissue was recapitulated by fabricating a ferroelectric BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membrane. In vitro, the polarized BaTiO_(3)/poly(vinylidene fluoridetrifluoroethylene)(BTO/P(VDF-TrFE))nanocomposite membranes inhibited high glucose-induced M1-type inflammation,by effecting changes in cell morphology,M1 marker expression and pro-inflammatory cytokine secretion in macrophages. This led to enhanced osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BM-MSCs).In vivo, the biomimetic electrical microenvironment recapitulated by the polarized nanocomposite membranes switched macrophage phenotype from the pro-inflammatory(M1)into the pro-healing(M2)phenotype,which in turn enhanced bone regeneration in rats with type 2 diabetes mellitus.Mechanistic studies revealed that the biomimetic electrical microenvironment attenuated pro-inflammatory M1 macrophage polarization under hyperglycemic conditions by suppressing expression of AKT2 and IRF5 within the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway, thereby inducing favorable osteo-immunomodulatory effects. Our study thus provides fundamental insights into the biological effects of restoring the electrical microenvironment conducive for osteogenesis under DM conditions, and offers an effective strategy to design functionalized biomaterials for bone regeneration therapy in diabetic patients. | Xiaohan Dai Boon Chin Heng Yunyang Bai Fuping You Xiaowen Sun Yiping Li Zhangui Tang Mingming Xu Xuehui Zhang Xuliang Deng | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,7: | 9

Mapping the immune microenvironment for mandibular alveolar bone homeostasis at single-cell resolution显示文摘Alveolar bone is the thickened ridge of jaw bone that supports teeth. It is subject to constant occlusal force and pathogens invasion, and is therefore under active bone remodeling and immunomodulation.Alveolar bone holds a distinct niche from long bone considering their different developmental origin and postnatal remodeling pattern. However,a systematic explanation of alveolar bone at single-cell level is still lacking. Here,we construct a single-cell atlas of mouse mandibular alveolar bone through single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq).A more active immune microenvironment is identified in alveolar bone, with a higher proportion of mature immune cells than in long bone.Among all immune cell populations, the monocyte/macrophage subpopulation most actively interacts with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)subpopulation.Alveolar bone monocytes/macrophages express a higher level of Oncostatin M(Osm)compared to long bone, which promotes osteogenic differentiation and inhibits adipogenic differentiation of MSCs.In summary, our study reveals a unique immune microenvironment of alveolar bone, which may provide a more precise immune-modulatory target for therapeutic treatment of oral diseases. | Weimin Lin Qiwen Li Danting Zhang Xiaohan Zhang Xingying Qi Qian Wang Yaqian Chen Caojie Liu Hanwen Li Shiwen Zhang Yuan Wang Bin Shao Li Zhang Quan Yuan | 2021 | Bone Research2021,9,1: | 6

Enhanced physicochemical and biological properties of C/Cu dual ions implanted medical titanium显示文摘It is increasingly popular for titanium and its alloys to be utilized as the medical implants. However, their bioinert nature and lack of antibacterial ability limit their applications. In this work,by utilizing plasma immersion ion implantation and deposition(PIII&D)technology, the titanium surface was modified by C/Cu co-implantation.The mechanical property, corrosion resistance, antibacterial ability and cytocompatibility of modified samples were studied. Results indicate that after C/Cu co-implantation,copper nanoparticles were observed on the surface of titanium, and titanium carbide existed on the near surface region of titanium. The modified surface displayed good mechanical property and corrosion resistance. The Cu/C galvanic corrosion existed on the titanium surface implanted by C/Cu dual ions, and release of copper ions can be effectively controlled by the galvanic corrosion effect. Moreover, improved antibacterial performance of titanium surface can be achieved without cytotoxicity. | Chao Xia Xiaohan Ma Xianming Zhang Kunqiang Li Ji Tan Yuqin Qiao Xuanyong Liu | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,2: | 5
A transceptor-channel complex couples nitrate sensing to calcium signaling in Ambidopsis显示文摘Nitrate-induced Ca^(2+) signaling is crucial for the primary nitrate response in plants. However, the molecular mechanism underlying the generation of the nitrate-specific calcium signature remains unknown. We report here that a cyclic nucleotide-gated channel(CNGC)protein,CNGC15,and the nitrate transceptor(NRT1.1)constitute a molecular switch that controls calcium influx depending on nitrate levels. The expression of CNGC15 is induced by nitrate, and its protein is localized at the plasma membrane after establishment of young seedlings. We found that disruption of CNGC15 results in the loss of the nitrate-induced Ca^(2+) signature(primary nitrate response)and retards root growth, reminiscent of the phenotype observed in the nrt1.1 mutant. We further showed that CNGC15 is an active Ca^(2+)-permeable channel that physically interacts with the NRT1.1 protein in the plasma membrane.Importantly,we discovered that CNGC15-NRT1.1 interaction silences the channel activity of the heterocomplex, which dissociates upon a rise in nitrate levels, leading to reactivation of the CNGC15 channel. The dynamic interactions between CNGC15 and NRT1.1 therefore control the channel activity and Ca^(2+) influx in a nitrate-dependent manner. Our study reveals a new nutrient-sensing mechanism that utilizes a nutrient transceptor-channel complex assembly to couple nutrient status to a specific Ca^(2+) signature. | Xiaohan Wang Changxin Feng LiLi Tian Congcong Hou Wang Tian Bin Hu Qian Zhang Zhijie Ren Qi Niu Jiali Song Dongdong Kong Liangyu Liu Yikun He Ligeng Ma Chengcai Chu Sheng Luan Legong Li | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,5: | 5
Effect of Streamlined Nose Length on the Aerodynamic Performance of a 800 km/h Evacuated Tube Train显示文摘The aerodynamic resistance of a train running in the open air limits the maximum speed that can be attained by the train. For this reason, evacuated tube trains(ETT)are being considered as valid alternatives to be implemented in the future. The atmosphere in the tube, the so-called blocking ratio and the length of the streamlined nose are the key factors affecting the aerodynamic performances of these trains. In the present work,we investigate evacuated tube trains with different lengths of the streamline nose on the basis of computational fluid dynamics(CFD).The three-dimensional steady compressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved. The running speed of the ETT is 800 km/h and the blocking ratio is 0.2.Results show that with the increase of the streamlined nose length, the aerodynamic drag and lift forces of the head car decrease gradually, and the drag and lift forces of the middle car change slightly. For the tail car,the drag force decreases, whereas the absolute value of the lift force increases. At a speed of 800 km/h,a slight shock wave appears at the rear of the tail car, which affects the aerodynamic forces acting on the train. | Xiaohan Zhang Yao Jiang Tian Li | 2020 | Fluid Dynamics & Materials Processing2020,16,1: | 5

Modulation of nitrate-induced phosphate response by the MYB transcription factor RLI1/HINGE1 in the nucleus显示文摘The coordinated utilization of nitrogen(N)and phosphorus(P)is vital for plants to maintain nutrient balance and achieve optimal growth.Previously,we revealed a mechanism by which nitrate induces genes for phosphate utilization;this mechanism depends on NRT1.1B-facilitated degradation of cytoplasmic SPX4,which in turn promotes cytoplasmic-nuclear shuttling of PHR2,the central transcription factor of phosphate signaling, and triggers the nitrate-induced phosphate response(NIPR)and N-P coordinated utilization in rice.In this study,we unveiled a fine-tuning mechanism of NIPR in the nucleus regulated by Highly Induced by Nitrate Gene 1(HINGE1,also known as RLI1),a MYB-transcription factor closely related to PHR2.RLI1/HINGE1,which is transcriptionally activated by PHR2 under nitrate induction, can directly activate the expression of phosphate starvation-induced genes.More importantly,RLI1/HINGE1 competes with PHR2 for binding to its repressor proteins in the nucleus(SPX proteins),and consequently releases PHR2 to further enhance phosphate response.Therefore,RLI1/HINGE1 amplifies the phosphate response in the nucleus downstream of the cytoplasmic SPX4-PHR2 cascade, thereby enabling fine-tuning of N-P balance when nitrate supply is sufficient. | Zhihua Zhang Zhao Li Wei Wang Zhimin Jiang Liping Guo Xiaohan Wang Yangwen Qian Xiahe Huang Yongqiang Liu Xiujie Liu Yahong Liu Aifu Li Yu Yan Junpeng Xie Shouyun Cao Stanislav Kopriva Legong Li Fanjiang Kong Baohui Liu Yingchun Wang Bin Hu Chengcai Chu | 2021 | Molecular Plant2021,14,3: | 4
Spectrum projection with a bandgap-gradient perovskite cell for colour perception显示文摘Optoelectronic devices for light or spectral signal detection are desired for use in a wide range of applications, including sensing, imaging, optical communications, and in situ characterization. However, existing photodetectors indicate only light intensities, whereas multiphotosensor spectrometers require at least a chip-level assembly and can generate redundant signals for applications that do not need detailed spectral information.Inspired by human visual and psychological light perceptions, the compression of spectral information into representative intensities and colours may simplify spectrum processing at the device level. Here,we propose a concept of spectrum projection using a bandgap-gradient semiconductor cell for intensity and colour perception.Bandgap-gradient perovskites, prepared by a halide-exchanging method via dipping in a solution, are developed as the photoactive layer of the cell. The fabricated cell produces two output signals:one shows linear responses to both photon energy and flux, while the other depends on only photon flux. Thus,by combining the two signals, the single device can project the monochromatic and broadband spectra into the total photon fluxes and average photon energies(i.e.,intensities and hues),which are in good agreement with those obtained from a commercial photodetector and spectrometer.Under changing illumination in real time, the prepared device can instantaneously provide intensity and hue results. In addition, the flexibility and chemical/bio-sensing of the device via colour comparison are demonstrated. Therefore, this work shows a human visual-like method of spectrum projection and colour perception based on a single device, providing a paradigm for high-efficiency spectrum-processing applications. | Mei-Na Zhang Xiaohan Wu Antoine Riaud Xiao-Lin Wang Fengxian Xie Wen-Jun Liu Yongfeng Mei David Wei Zhang Shi-Jin Ding | 2020 | Light(Science & Applications)2020,9,1: | 4
Intrinsically Stretchable Organic-Tribotronic-Transistor for Tactile Sensing显示文摘Stretchable electronics are of great significance for the development of the next-generation smart interactive systems. Here,we propose an intrinsically stretchable organic tribotronic transistor(SOTT)without a top gate electrode, which is composed of a stretchable substrate, silver nanowire electrodes, semiconductor blends, and a nonpolar elastomer dielectric. The drain-source current of the SOTT can be modulated by external contact electrification with the dielectric layer.Under 0-50%stretching both parallel and perpendicular to the channel directions, the SOTT retains great output performance. After being stretched to 50%for thousands of cycles, the SOTT can survive with excellent stability. Moreover, the SOTT can be conformably attached to the human hand, which can be used for tactile signal perception in human-machine interaction and for controlling smart home devices and robots. This work has realized a stretchable tribotronic transistor as the tactile sensor for smart interaction, which has extended the application of tribotronics in the human-machine interface, wearable electronics, and robotics. | Junqing Zhao Tianzhao Bu Xiaohan Zhang Yaokun Pang Wenjian Li Zhi Zhang Guoxu Liu Zhong Lin Wang Chi Zhang | 2020 | Research2020,,1: | 4
Cyanobacteria-based near-infrared light-excited self-supplying oxygen system for enhanced photodynamic therapy of hypoxic tumors显示文摘Tumor hypoxia has been considered to induce tumor cell resistance to radiotherapy and anticancer chemotherapy,as well as predisposing for increased tumor metastases. Therefore, strategies for the eradication of the hypoxic tumor are highly desirable.Photodynamic therapy(PDT)is a new technique that can be used to treat tumors using laser irradiation to photochemically activate a photosensitizer.Compared to traditional radiotherapy and chemotherapy, photodynamic therapy has many advantages, such as good selectivity, low toxicity, and less trauma and resistance. However,PDT is oxygen-dependent,and the lack of oxygen in hypoxic tumors renders photodynamic therapy ineffective.Cyanobacteria, the earliest photosynthetic oxygen-generating organisms, can utilize water as an electron donor to reduce CO_(2) into organic carbon compounds along with continuously releasing oxygen under sunlight.Inspired by this, herein, cyanobacteria were used as a living carrier of photosensitizer conjugated upconversion nanoparticles(UCNP)to construct a self-supplying oxygen PDT system.Improvement in the PDT efficiency for hypoxic tumors can be achieved as a result of in situ oxygen production by cyanobacteria under near-infrared(NIR)light using UCNP as a light harvesting antenna.A successful demonstration of this concept would be of great significance and could open the door to a new generation of carrier systems in the field of hypoxia-targeted drug transport platforms. | Yinghua Zhang Huifang Liu Xinyue Dai Hang Li Xiaohan Zhou Shizhu Chen Jinchao Zhang Xing-Jie Liang Zhenhua Li | 2021 | Nano Research2021,14,3: | 4
