1Omentin-1 prevents inflammation-induced osteoporosis by downregulating the pro-inflammatory cytokines显示文摘Osteoporosis is a frequent complication of chronic inflammatory diseases and increases in the pro-inflammatory cytokines make an important contribution to bone loss by promoting bone resorption and impairing bone formation. Omentin-1 is a newly identified adipocytokine that has anti-inflammatory effects, but little is known about the role of omentin-1 in inflammatory osteoporosis. Here we generated global omentin-1 knockout(omentin-1^(-/-)) mice and demonstrated that depletion of omentin-1 induces inflammatory bone loss-like phenotypes in mice, as defined by abnormally elevated pro-inflammatory cytokines, increased osteoclast formation and bone tissue destruction, as well as impaired osteogenic activities. Using an inflammatory cell model induced by tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), we determined that recombinant omentin-1 reduces the production of proinflammatory factors in the TNF-α-activated macrophages, and suppresses their anti-osteoblastic and pro-osteoclastic abilities. In the magnesium silicate-induced inflammatory osteoporosis mouse model, the systemic administration of adenoviral-delivered omentin-1 significantly protects from osteoporotic bone loss and inflammation. 2Effects of daily telephone-based re-education before taking medicine on Helicobacter pylori eradication: A prospective single-center study from China显示文摘AIM: To investigate the effects of daily telephonebased re-education(TRE) before taking medicine for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) on the compliance and the eradication rate in a Chinese patient population.METHODS : Aprospective, physician-blind e d, randomized, controlled clinical study was conducted. The patients were randomly assigned to receive TRE every day before taking medicine(TRE group) or no TRE(control group). The patients in the TRE group received regular instructions before taking medicine for the eradication of H. pylori during the entire courseof treatment through telephone calls. The patients in the control group received detailed instructions at the time of seeing a doctor for the guidance. The primary outcome was the H. pylori eradication rate after treatment. The secondary outcomes included the clinical remissions after treatment, adverse events, compliance, and patients' satisfaction.RESULTS: A total of 140 patients were randomized, 70 to the TRE group and 70 to the control group. As the primary outcome, the H. pylori eradication rates in the TRE and control groups were 62.7% and 71.2% in per protocol analysis(P = 0.230), and 52.9% and 52.9% in intention-to-treat analysis(P = 0.567), respectively. As the secondary outcomes, there were no significant differences in the patients' satisfaction between the two groups(good, 79.7% vs 76.9%; fair, 13.6% vs 19.2%; poor, 6.7% vs 3.9%, for the TRE group and control group, respectively; P > 0.05 for all); the rates of adverse effects were 15.2% and 63.5% in the TRE and control groups, respectively(P < 0.001); the compliance rates in the TRE and control groups were 85.7% and 74.3%, respectively(P = 0.069).CONCLUSION: Daily TRE before taking medicine had no significant impact on the patients' compliance, satisfaction, or H. pylori eradication, but reduced the rate of adverse events.Chun-Hua Wang Sheng-Tao Liao Jun Yang Chun-Xia Li Ying-Ying Yang Ran Han Dong-Feng Chen Chun-Hui Lan 2015World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,39:15

4miR-93-5p Transferred by Exosomes Promotes the Proliferation of Esophageal Cancer Cells via Intercellular Communication by Targeting PTEN显示文摘Objective To investigate the relationship between plasma miR-93-5p and the risk of esophageal cancer, as well as the influence of miR-93-5p on the biological function of esophageal cancer cells,exerted through exosomes.Methods The expression of plasma miR-93-5p in esophageal cancer patients and healthy controls was analysed by real-time quantitative PCR. The influence of miR-93-5p on the risk and prognosis of esophageal carcinoma was analyzed by conditional logistic regression and survival analysis. The effect of miR-93-5p on the biological function of recipient cells was investigated by establishing an in vitro donor cell co-culture model. 5Risks faced by donors of right lobe for living donor liver transplantation显示文摘BACKGROUND:Because of the shortage of deceased donors with livers fit for transplantation,living donor liver transplantation(LDLT)is becoming an attractive alternative.Attention should be paid to the donors,especially to those of the right lobe.In this study,we evaluated the risks faced by donors of the right lobe for adult-to-adult LDLT.METHODS:The perioperative data from 105 consecutive living donors of the right lobe performed in West China Hospital from January 2002 to December 2007 were retrospectively studied.Preoperative evaluation included CT,MRCP,and intraoperative cholangiography,showing liver volume,hepatic vasculature and the biliary system.The standard liver volume(SLV)and the ratio of left lobe volume to SLV were calculated.The right lobe grafts were obtained by transecting the liver on the right side of the middle hepatic vein without inflow vascular occlusion,using an ultrasonic dissector.After operation the donors were monitored in the Intensive Care Unit for about three days.Each donor was followed up for at least 6 months.RESULTS:There was no donor mortality.Major complications occurred in 14 donors(13.3%),of whom 3 received conservative treatment,8 required invasive paracentesis,and 3 required further surgery.All donors were recovered well and resumed their previous occupations.CONCLUSIONS:Donors of the right lobe face low risks.The preoperative evaluation,especially evaluation of the volume of the remnant liver,should be exact.During the operation,the patency of the remnant hepatic vasculature and bile duct must be preserved,and the extent of injury to the remnant liver should be limited as much as possible.The detection and treatment of postoperative complications should be diligently performed.Ran, Shun Wen, Tian-Fu Yan, Lu-Nan Li, Bo Zeng, Yong Chen, Zhe-Yu Zhang, Yu Liao, Zhi-Xue Liang, Guan-Lin Li, Guo Zhang, Xian-Hua 2009Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2009,8,6:8
6Jiaweisinisan facilitates neurogenesis in the hippocampus after stress damage显示文摘The traditional Chinese medicine Jiaweisinisan has antidepressant effects, and can inhibit hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal gland axis hyperactivity in stress-induced depression. In this study, rat hippocampal neural precursor cells were cultured in serum-free medium in vitro and a stress damage model was established with 120 μM corticosterone. Cells were treated with 10% (v/v) Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and the corticosterone antagonist RU38486. Results of the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-3,5-di-phenytetrazoliumromide assay showed that both Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 promoted the proliferation of neural precursor cells after corticosterone exposure. Immunofluorescence detection showed that after Jiaweisinisan drug-containing serum and RU38486 treatment, the 5-bromo-2-deoxyuridine/terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labeling ratio in hippocampal neural precursor cells significantly increased, and the apoptotic rates of glial cells reduced, and neuron-like cell differentiation from neural precursor cells significantly increased. 7Direct growth of ordered N-doped carbon nanotube arrays on carbon fiber cloth as a free-standing and binder-free air electrode for flexible quasi-solid-state rechargeable Zn-Air batteries显示文摘The development of an air electrode that is flexible in physical property and highly active and durable at different geometric status for both oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is of crucial importance for the rational design of flexible rechargeable Zn-air batteries(ZABs).Considering their good elasticity,high conductivity,and superior thermal and chemical stability,carbon nanotubes have been widely used as a catalyst support in various electrocatalysts,while oxide or metal nanoparticles have been frequently deposited on the carbon nanotube substrate to perform as the active materials.Considering the poor contact between active materials and carbon nanotubes may introduce a challenge for long-term operating stability,in particular in flexible devices,pure carbon electrocatalyst is highly appreciated.Herein,a free-standing air electrode with cobalt nanoparticles encapsulated N-codoped carbon nanotube arrays uniformly grown on the surface of carbon fiber cloth is developed by a two-step in situ growth method.Such a carbon-based electrode shows outstanding activity for both ORR and OER.The flexible ZAB with such air electrode shows superior flexibility and stability working under extreme bending conditions.Moreover,the polarization and round-trip efficiency for the flexible battery is 0.67 V and 64.4%at 2 mA/cm2,respectively,even after being operated for 30 hours.This study provides a feasible way to design all carbon-based free-standing and flexible electrode and enlightens the electrode design for flexible energy conversion/storage devices.Qian Lu Xiaohong Zou Kaiming Liao Ran Ran Wei Zhou Meng Ni Zongping Shao 2020Carbon Energy2020,2,3:6
8Functional assembly of root-associated microbial consortia improves nutrient efficiency and yield in soybean显示文摘Root-associated microbes are critical for plant growth and nutrient acquisition. However, scant information exists on optimizing communities of beneficial root-associated microbes or the mechanisms underlying their interactions with host plants. In this report, we demonstrate that rootassociated microbes are critical influencers of host plant growth and nutrient acquisition. Three synthetic communities(SynComs) were constructed based on functional screening of 1,893 microbial strains isolated from root-associated compartments of soybean plants. Functional assemblage of SynComs promoted significant plant growth and nutrient acquisition under both N/P nutrient deficiency and sufficiency conditions.Field trials further revealed that application of SynComs stably and significantly promoted plant growth, facilitated N and P acquisition, and subsequently increased soybean yield. Among the tested communities, SynCom1 exhibited the greatest promotion effect, with yield increases of up to 36.1% observed in two field sites. Further RNA-seq implied that SynCom application systemically regulates N and P signaling networks at the transcriptional level, which leads to increased representation of important growth pathways, especially those related to auxin responses. 10Global mapping of artificial surfaces at 30-m resolution显示文摘Urbanization is expected to accelerate with population growth and economic development at the global scale. The artificial surface is the main land cover form of urbanization. On the one hand, urbanization provides spaces for industry, economic activities and residence. On the other hand, artificial surfaces change the earth surface to a large extent, thus significantly affecting natural processes such as the heat exchange, hydrological processes and ecological balance. Therefore, the global mapping of artificial surfaces is valuable for both natural science and social science. This study produced the global artificial surface maps at 30-m resolution for two base-years using the satellite images acquired around 2000 and 2010. First, we proposed a new definition of 'artificial surface' based on patch level with consideration of its geographic meaning and image features at 30-m resolution. Second, pixel-based and object-based image processing techniques were combined for the extraction of artificial surface patches. Finally, human editing and a quality control system were employed to guarantee the quality of global mapping. Independent accuracy assessments show that the user's accuracy of this product is higher than 80%. It can be concluded that the product is the most reliable one among all the available global datasets of artificial surfaces(or related types). 12Regulatory factor X5 promotes hepatocellular carcinoma progression by transactivating tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein theta and suppressing apoptosis显示文摘Background:Our previous studies have shown that regulatory factor X5(RFX5),a classical transcription regulator of MHCⅡ genes,was obviously overexpressed in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)tumors.However,the role of RFX5 in the carcinogenesis and progress of HCC remains unknown.This study aimed to reveal its biological significance and the underlying mechanism in HCC.Methods:RFX5 mRNA expression level and copy number variation in HCC tumors and cell lines were determined by analyzing deposited data sets in the Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus database.The biological significance of RFX5 in HCC was investigated by monitoring the colony formation and subcutaneous tumor growth capacity when RFX5 was silenced with lentiviral short hairpin RNA and CRISPR7Cas9 system in HCC cell lines.The downstream gene transcriptionally activated by RFX5 in HCC cells was determined by chromatin immunoprecipitation and luciferase reporter assay.The involvement of tyrosine 3-monooxygenase/tryptophan 5-monooxygenase activation protein theta(YWHAQ)in HCC development was further determined by performing colony formation rescue assay and subcutaneous tumor growth rescue experiment.The association of YWHAQ with recurrence-free survival of patients with HCC was assessed by Kaplan-Meier analysis.Moreover,apoptosis level and the protein level of p53 pathway were determined to reveal the mechanism of RFX5 in driving HCC development.Results:RFX5 was amplified and highly overexpressed in HCC tumor tissues compared with the corresponding non-tumor tissues.The mRNA expression level of RFX5 was significantly correlated with its DNA copy number(r=0.4,P<0.001).Functional study demonstrated that RFX5 was required for both clonogenic forming in vitro and subcutaneous tumor growth in vivo of HCC cells.Further study identified YWHAQ,namely 14-3-3 tau,as a key downstream transcriptional target gene of RFX5,which was tightly regulated by RFX5 in HCC.Moreover,overexpression of YWHAQ largely rescued the clonogenic growth of HCC cells that was suppressed by RFX5 knockdown.In addition,overexpression of YWHAQ in primary tumor was linked to poor prognosis of patients with HCC.These results demonstrated that YWHAQ was a downstream effector of RFX5 in HCC.Notably,RFX5-YWHAQ pathway could protect cells from apoptosis by suppressing the p53 and Bax in HCC.Conclusion:RFX5 is a putative HCC driver gene that plays an important role in the development and progression of HCC by transactivating YWHAQ and suppressing apoptosis.Dong-Bo Chen Yang-Jing Zhao Xue-Yan Wang Wei-Jia Liao Pu Chen Kang-Jian Deng Xu Cong Ran Fei Xu Wu Qi-Xiang Shao Lai Wei Xing-Wang Xie Hong-Song Chen 2019Chinese Medical Journal2019,,13:2
13Proteomic Analysis of High Temperature Stress-Responsive Proteins in Chrysanthemum Leaves显示文摘Chrysanthemum is one of the most important ornamental flowers in the world,and temperature has a significant influence on its field production.In the present study,differentially expressed proteins were investigated in the leaves of Dendranthema grandiflorum‘Jinba’under high temperature stress using label-free quantitative proteomics techniques.The expressed proteins were comparatively identified and analyzed.A total of 1,463 heat-related,differentially expressed proteins were successfully identified by Liquid Chromatography-tandem Mass Spectrometry(LC-MS/MS),and 1,463 heat-related,differentially expressed proteins were successfully identified by mass spectrometry after a high temperature treatment.Among these,701 proteins were upregulated and 762 proteins were downregulated.The in-depth bioinformatics analysis of these differentially expressed proteins revealed that these were involved in energy metabolism pathways,protein metabolism,and heat shock.In the present study,the investigators determined the changes in the levels of some proteins,and their expression at the protein and molecular levels in chrysanthemum to help reveal the mechanism of heat resistance in chrysanthemum.Furthermore,the present study elucidated some of the proteins correlated to heat resistance in chrysanthemum,and their expression changes at the protein and molecular levels to help reveal the mechanism of heat resistance in this flower species.These results provide a theoretical basis for the selection of new heat resistant varieties of chrysanthemum in the field.Xin Li Feiya Liao Qiqi Ma Beibei Jiang Yuanzhi Pan Cheng Luo Xinjie Wang Aining Ran 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,5:1

16Analysis of maximum traffic intensity for guaranteed handover and channel complete sharing scheme under pre-set QoS requirements in LEO-MSS显示文摘The maximum traffic intensity supported by a low earth orbit(LEO) mobile satellite system(MSS)(LEO-MSS) is important in practical application for providing satisfactory service. An analytical approach is proposed for determining the maximum traffic intensity of guaranteed handover(GH) scheme and channel complete sharing(CCS) scheme in LEO-MSS under quality of service(Qo S) constraints. By evaluating performance of these two schemes, the relationship between the traffic intensity and the Qo S constraints is established. The expressions of maximum traffic intensity of GH scheme and CCS scheme are deduced. Compared with the traditional method, the proposed analytical approach is more computationally efficient owing to the needlessness of the repeated iteration calculation. It also avoids the complex choice of the initial value of new call traffic intensity and its increment. 20Effect of Sr content on porosity formation in directionally solidified Al-12.3wt.%Si alloy显示文摘The influence of Sr addition on pore formation in directionally solidified Al-12.3wt.% alloy was investigated using X-ray detection, optical microscope, and SEM-EDX. Results indicate that addition of Sr significantly increases the number density and volume fraction of porosity. The considerable rise in volume fraction of porosity is attributed to the remarkable increase in the numbers of pores formed. It is found that Sr solute in liquid Al-Si alloy can diffuse into the oxide inclusions to form loose oxide aggregations which have more activity as the nucleation sites for porosity. Adding more Sr considerably increases the numbers of active nucleation sites.
