1Epalrestat protects against diabetic peripheral neuropathy by alleviating oxidative stress and inhibiting polyol pathway显示文摘Epalrestat is a noncompetitive and reversible aldose reductase inhibitor used for the treatment of diabetic neuropathy. This study assumed that epalrestat had a protective effect on diabetic peripheral nerve injury by suppressing the expression of aldose reductase in peripheral nerves of diabetes mellitus rats. The high-fat and high-carbohydrate model rats were established by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin. Peripheral neuropathy occurred in these rats after sustaining high blood glucose for 8 weeks. At 12 weeks after streptozotocin injection, rats were intragastrically administered epalrestat 100 mg/kg daily for 6 weeks. Transmission electron microscope revealed that the injuries to myelinated nerve fibers, non-myelinated nerve fibers and Schwann cells of rat sciatic nerves had reduced compared to rats without epalrestat administuation. Western blot assay and immunohistochemical results demonstrated that after intervention with epalrestat, the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase gradually increased, but aldose reductase protein expression gradually diminished. 3Microjet flow control in an ultra-compact serpentine inlet显示文摘Microjets are used to control the internal flow to improve the performance of an ultra-compact serpentine inlet. A highly offset serpentine inlet with length-to-diameter ratio of2.5 is designed and static tests are conducted to analyze the internal flow characteristics in terms of pressure recovery, distortion and flow separation. Flow separation is encountered in the second S-turn, and two strong counter-rotating vortices are formed at the aerodynamic interface plane(AIP) face which occupy a quarter of the outlet area and result in severe pressure loss and distortion. A flow control model employing a row of microjets in the second turn is designed based on the internal flow characteristics and simplified CFD simulations. Flow control tests are conducted to verify the control effectiveness and understand the characteristics as a function of inlet throat Mach number, injection mass flow ratio, jet Mach number and momentum coefficient. At all test Mach numbers, microjet flow control(MFC) effectively improves the recovery and reduces the distortion intensity. Between inlet throat Mach number 0.2 and 0.5, the strong flow separation in the second S-turn is suppressed at an optimum jet flow ratio of less than 0.65%, resulting in a maximum improvement of 4% for pressure recovery coefficient and a maximum decrease of75% for circumferential distortion intensity at cruise. However, in order to suppress the flow separation, the injection rate should retain in an effective range. When the injection rate is higher than this range, the flow is degraded and the distortion contour is changed from 90° circumferential distortion pattern to 180° circumferential distortion pattern. 4THE p-VERSION OF FINITE ELEMENT METHODS FOR STEADY VISCOELASTIC FLOWS BETWEEN ECCENTRIC ROTATING CYLINDERS显示文摘The steady state, two dimensional creeping flow of an upper convected Maxwell (UCM) fluid between two eccentric cylinders, with the inner one rotating,is computed by p version of EVSS/SUPG finite element method. The solutions converge as the polynomial order of the approximation increases. An upper Deborah number (De) limit attains 30 (p≤5). With De increasing, The boundary layers form and develop in the stress, which match closely with those predicted by asymptotic analysis. 5Development of Flake Powder Metallurgy in Fabricating Metal Matrix Composites:A Review显示文摘Powder metallurgy(PM) is one of the most applied processes in the fabrication of metal matrix composites(MMCs). Recently, a novel PM strategy called flake PM was developed to fabricate MMCs with nano-laminated or hierarchical architectures. The name ‘‘flake PM'' was derived from the use of flake metal powders, which could benefit the uniform dispersion of reinforcements in the metal matrices and thus result in balanced strength and ductility. Flake PM has been proved to be successful in the dispersion of nano aluminum oxides, carbon nanotubes, graphene nano-sheets, and microsized B4 C particles in aluminum or copper matrix. 7A Preliminary Urinary Metabolomics Study of Sprague-Dawley Rats after Short‑term Ketamine Administration by Proton Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy显示文摘Drug abuse has become a global problem.The mass spectrometry‑based metabolic consequences of ketamine administration in anesthesia and therapy have been well studied,but to the best of our knowledge,metabolomic studies of ketamine abuse based on nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)spectroscopy are still lacking.In this study,twenty Sprague–Dawley rats were randomly assigned into two groups:a control group(n=10)and a ketamine group(n=10).The animals in the ketamine group received intraperitoneal injections of ketamine twice daily at 12‑h intervals at progressively increasing doses over a period of 9 days,while the control group received an equal volume of saline.The urine samples were collected for 24 h at days 0,1,3,5,7,and 9 for the metabolomics study.The metabolic changes in urine after short‑term ketamine administration were analyzed by proton NMR coupled with multivariate statistical analysis.The results indicated that short‑term ketamine exposure led to significant alterations of the metabolites in the urine of the rats.Specifically,1,3,7‑trimethyluric acid,1,3‑dimethyluric acid,acetoacetic acid,acetylglycine,creatine,sarcosine,dimethylglycine,glycine,and theobromine were significantly increased in the urine.Significant changes were also found in metabolites related to antioxidant and energy metabolism,including acetoacetic acid,succinate,1,3,7‑trimethyluric acid,1,3‑dimethyluric acid,creatine,and taurine.Our findings indicated that short‑term ketamine administration leads to disorder of energy metabolism and oxidative stress.In addition,the modified metabolites identified could serve as the new biological markers and potential biological indices reflecting the underlying mechanism of ketamine abuse.Xiang Lu Qunxing Tang Yi Ye Run Guo Fan Chen Xinhua Dai Youyi Yan Linchuan Liao 2016Journal of Forensic Science and Medicine2016,2,2:1

10Microtexture Evolution and Grain Boundary Character Distribution of Interstitial-Free Steels With Moderate Levels of Cold Rolling Reductions显示文摘High-strength interstitial-free steel sheets have very good deep drawability when processed to have{111}recrystallization texture.The microtexture evolution and grain boundary character distribution of interstitial-free steels as a function of moderate levels of cold rolling reductions were investigated by the metallographic microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction technique.The results showed that there was a close relationship between microtexture and grain boundary character distribution for interstitial-free steel,especially the distribution and features of some specific types of coincident-site lattice boundaries.In addition,α-fiber texture was weakened to vanish whileγ-fiber texture strengthened gradually as cold rolling reduction was increased from 20%to 75%for cold rolled and annealed samples.Accordingly,increasing the rolling reduction from 20%to 75%would lead to a significant increase in the proportion ofΣ3boundaries.Also,it was found that the microtexture of 20%cold rolled sample would induce a high frequency ofΣ11grain boundaries,but the microtexture of 75%cold rolled sample would produce moreΣ7andΣ17grain boundaries.It was suggested that texture played a significant role in the formation of grain boundary character distribution.YANG Jing-jing FAN Li-xia JIA Juan WU Run SONG Xin-li JIANG Li-li 2013Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2013,20,12:1

20Additive manufacturing of sodalite monolith for continuous heavy metal removal from water sources显示文摘Herein,we present a simple strategy for preparing monolithic sodalite adsorbents via sequential additive manufacturing and post-treatments.In detail,the method includes(i)3D printing of cylindrical monoliths using clay as the base material;(ii)thermal activation of the 3D-printed clay monoliths by calcination(to produce reactive alumina and silica species and enable mechanical stabilization);(iii)conversion of the activated clay monoliths to hierarchical porous sodalite monoliths via hydrothermal alkaline treatment.Parametric studies on the effect of calcination temperature,alkaline concentration and hydrothermal treatment time on the property of the resulting materials(such as phase composition and morphology)at different stages of preparation was conducted.Under the optimal conditions(i.e.,calcination temperature of 850℃,NaOH concentration of 3.3 mol·L^(-1),reaction temperature of 150℃,and reaction time of 6 h),a high-quality pure sodalite monolith was obtained,which possesses a relatively high BET surface area(58 m^(2)·g^(-1))and hierarchically micro-meso-macroporous structure.In the proposed application of continuous removal of heavy metals(chromium ion as the model)from wastewater,the developed 3D-printed sodalite monolith showed excellent Cr^(3+)removal performance and fast kinetics(~98%removal efficiency within 25 cycles),which outperformed the packed bed using sodalite pellets(made by extrusion).Hengyu Shen Run Zou Yangtao Zhou Xing Guo Yanan Guan Duo Na Jinsong Zhang Xiaolei Fan Yilai Jiao 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,35,2:1
