| 1 | Programmed death ligand-1 expression and its prognostic role in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘AIM To investigate the expression and prognostic role of programmed death ligand-1(PD-L1) in locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).METHODS A total of 200 patients with ESCC who underwent radical esophagectomy with standard lymphadenectomy as the initial definitive treatment in Seoul National University Hospital from December 2000 to April 2013 were eligible for this analysis. Tissue microarrays were constructed by collecting tissue cores from surgical specimens, and immunostained with antibodies directed against PD-L1, p16, and c-Met. Medical records were reviewed retrospectively to assess clinical outcomes. Patients were divided into two groups by PD-L1 status, and significant differences in clinicopathologic characteristics between the two groups were assessed. RESULTS Tumor tissues from 67 ESCC patients(33.5%) were PDL1-positive. Positive p16 expression was observed in 21 specimens(10.5%). The H-score for c-Met expression was ≥ 50 in 42 specimens(21.0%). Although PDL1-positivity was not significantly correlated with any clinical characteristics including age, sex, smoking/alcoholic history, stage, or differentiation, H-scores for c-Met expression were significantly associated with PDL1-positivity(OR = 2.34, 95%CI: 1.16-4.72, P = 0.017). PD-L1 expression was not significantly associated with a change in overall survival(P = 0.656). In contrast, the locoregional relapse rate tended to increase(P = 0.134), and the distant metastasis rate was significantly increased(HR = 1.72, 95%CI: 1.01-2.79, P = 0.028) in patients with PD-L1-positive ESCC compared to those with PD-L1-negative ESCC.CONCLUSION PD-L1 expression is positively correlated with c-Met expression in ESCC. | 2 | Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with coronary artery disease in Koreans显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)affects coronary artery disease(CAD)and identify candidate mediators.METHODS:Patients who underwent coronary angiography were consecutively recruited.The patients were classified into four groups by coronary artery stenosis:A,insignificant;B,one-vessel disease;C,two-vessel disease;and D,three-vessel disease.Abdominal ultrasonography was performed to determine the presence of a fatty liver and categorize by grade:0,no evidence;1,mild;2,moderate;and 3,severe.We measured not only known CAD risk factors,but also serum insulin,HOMA-index,adiponectin,interleukin-6,tumor necrosis factor-αand high-sensitivity C-reactive protein levels.RESULTS:Of the 134 patients who met the inclusion criteria,82(61.2%)had ultrasonographically diagnosed NAFLD.Among the 46 patients with CAD,37(80.4%)had evidence of a fatty liver.The two groups(A vs B-D)were significantly different in terms of age,total cholesterol,triglycerides,low-density lipoprotein levels and fatty liver.Coronary artery stenosis was strongly associated with fatty liver in a grade-dependent manner(P=0.025).In binary logistic regression,NAFLD was a significant independent predictor of CAD(P=0.03,OR=1.685;95%CI:1.051-2.702).Among the candidate mediators,the serum adiponectin level showed a trend toward lowering based on CAD progression(P=0.071).CONCLUSION:NAFLD is an independent risk factor for CAD in a grade-dependent manner.Moreover,adiponectin might be related to the pathogenesis of NAFLD. | Dae Hee Choi Sung Joon Lee Chang Don Kang Myoung Ok Park Dong Wook Choi Tae Suk Kim Wonho Lee Byung Ryul Cho Yong Hoon Kim Bong-ki Lee Dong Ryeol Ryu Ji Won Lee | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,38: | 5 |
| 3 | DIRECT NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE DYNAMICS OF PARTICLES WITH ARBITRARY SHAPES IN SHEAR FLOWS显示文摘A fluid-structure interaction method based on the arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian method and a dynamic mesh method was developed to simulate the dynamics of a rigid particle in shear flows.In the method,the governing equations for the fluid flow and particle motion were sequentially solved in a two-way coupling fashion.The mesh system was deformed or re-meshed by the dynamic mesh method.The method was employed to simulate the dynamics of a single particle suspended in a flow channel and the dynamics of the particle were studied.The simulation results show that the angular velocity is not only a function of the inclination angle,is but also influenced by the aspect ratio yielding a hysteresis,while the angular velocity obtained from the Keller-Scalak model is a function only of the inclination angle and does not show a hysteresis.The present simulations clearly demonstrate that the Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI) module is very stable,accurate and robust. | CHOI Choeng Ryul KIM Chang Nyung | 2010 | Journal of Hydrodynamics2010,22,4: | 4 |

| 20 | Plasmonic Ag‑Decorated Few‑Layer MoS2 Nanosheets Vertically Grown on Graphene for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting显示文摘A controllable approach that combines surface plasmon resonance and twodimensional(2D)graphene/MoS2 heterojunction has not been implemented despite its potential for efficient photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting.In this study,plasmonic Ag-decorated 2D MoS2 nanosheets were vertically grown on graphene substrates in a practical large-scale manner through metalorganic chemical vapor deposition of MoS2 and thermal evaporation of Ag.The plasmonic Ag-decorated MoS2 nanosheets on graphene yielded up to 10 times higher photo-to-dark current ratio than MoS2 nanosheets on indium tin oxide.The significantly enhanced PEC activity could be attributed to the synergetic effects of SPR and favorable graphene/2D MoS2 heterojunction.Plasmonic Ag nanoparticles not only increased visible-light and near-infrared absorption of 2D MoS2,but also induced highly amplified local electric field intensity in 2D MoS2.In addition,the vertically aligned 2D MoS2 on graphene acted as a desirable heterostructure for efficient separation and transportation of photo-generated carriers.This study provides a promising path for exploiting the full potential of 2D MoS2 for practical large-scale and efficient PEC water-splitting applications. | Dong‑Bum Seo Tran Nam Trung Dong‑Ok Kim Duong Viet Duc Sungmin Hong Youngku Sohn Jong‑Ryul Jeong Eui‑Tae Kim | 2020 | Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,12: | 1 |
