1Adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) from acidic aqueous solutions by tourmaline as a novel material显示文摘Batch experiments were conducted to investigate the behavior and mechanisms for the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions by tourmaline under acidic conditions. The results indicated that the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) significantly depend on the adsorption time, temperature, and the initial concentration of the metal ion. Furthermore, tourmaline had a very good adsorption capacity for Cd(Ⅱ) in acidic, neutral and alkaline aqueous solutions. This good adsorption capacity is attributed to the observation that tourmaline can automatically adjust the pH values of acidic (except pH 2.0 and 3.0), neutral or alkaline aqueous solutions to 6.4. Specifically, the removal capacity for Cd(Ⅱ) was higher at strongly acidic pH values (in contrast to industrial wastewater pH values) compared to that obtained for other types of adsorbents. Furthermore, the results obtained in this study showed good fits to the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. However, the Langmuir model fit better than the Freundlich model. The maximum uptake of Cd(Ⅱ) by tourmaline was 31.77, 33.11 and 40.16 mg/g at pH 4.0 at 15, 25 and 35°C, respectively. Therefore, tourmaline is an effective adsorbent for the removal of Cd(Ⅱ) from acidic aqueous solutions. In addition, the kinetics for the Cd(Ⅱ) adsorption by tourmaline closely followed the pseudo-second-order model. The thermodynamic parameters indicated that adsorption was feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic. Furthermore, the pH variation after adsorption, ζ-potential, metal ions desorbed and released, and FT-IR analysis indicated that the physisorption and chemisorption mechanisms of tourmaline for heavy metals. These mechanisms included water that was automatically polarized by tourmaline, the ion exchange process, and electropolar adsorption. 3Improving SIMD Utilization with Thread-Lane Shuffled Compaction in GPGPU显示文摘GPGPUs adopt SIMT execution model in which each logical thread in a warp corresponds to a SIMD lane while can still follow an independent control flow.When a branch divergence appears and threads within a warp take different execution paths, GPGPUs have to execute each path serially through SIMD lane masking, which potentially decreases the SIMD utilization and performance. We propose an efficient thread compaction mechanism to handle branch divergence with a novel register file structure. We also develop a new thread scheduling policy cooperating with our compaction mechanism. 15Has the maximum of Solar Cycle 23 appeared?显示文摘In this note, we define firstly a compositive parameter as an index describing the level of solar activity in a solar cycle. The parameter is derived from a combination of the smoothed monthly mean sunspot number with the fluctuation of the associated monthly mean sunspot numbers to the smoothed one. Then, a method is developed for estimating the time of the appearance of a solar maximum based on the conception of similar cycles. 18Facile fabrication of self-healing silicone-based poly(urea-thiourea)/tannic acid composite for anti-biofouling显示文摘A novel silicone-based poly(urea-thiourea)/tannic acid composite(PDMS-P(Ua-TUa)-TA)with excellent mechanical,self-healing and antifouling properties is developed.The multiple dynamic hydrogen bonds formed by thiourea groups,urea groups,and tannic acid(TA)molecules ensured a tough elastomer(ultimate strength:2.47 MPa)with high stretchability(~1000%).TA molecules as partial hydrogen bonding cross-linking sites interacted rapidly with urea and thiourea groups before the migration of polymer chains,resulting in fast and efficient self-healing.Scratches on the film completely disappeared within12 min,and the repair efficiency of strength was up to 98.4%within 3 h under ambient condition.Selfhealing behavior was also evaluated in artificial seawater and the healing efficiency(HE)was 95.1%.Furthermore,TA uniformly dispersed in the polymer matrix provides good antibacterial and anti-diatom properties,as well as strong adhesion to the substrate(~2.2 MPa).Laboratory bioassays against marine bacteria adhesion(~96%,~95%and~93%reduction for P.sp.,E.coli,and S.aureus,respectively)and diatom attachment(~84%reduction)demonstrated an outstanding antifouling property of the PDMSP(Ua-TUa)-TA.This work provides a promising pathway towards the development of high-performance silicone-based coatings for marine anti-biofouling.Jiawen Sun Chao Liu Jizhou Duan Jie Liu Xucheng Dong Yimeng Zhang Ning Wang Jing Wang Baorong Hou 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,29:1
