2Response to paleoatmospheric CO_2 concentration of Solenites vimineus(Phillips)Harris(Ginkgophyta)from the Middle Jurassic of the Yaojie Basin,Gansu Province,China显示文摘Solenites vimineus (Phillips) Harris (Ginkgophyta) specimens with well-preserved cuticles were collected from five different beds in the oil shale member of the Middle Jurassic Yaojie Formation in the Yaojie Basin, Gansu Province, northwestern China. Gross morphology and fine structures of the fossil leaves were studied, and stomatal parameters were analyzed, according to which, the paleoatmospheric CO2 concentration can be deduced as 1512-1896 ppm that would have caused an increase in mean temperature of about 6.5-7.4℃. Carbon isotopes from the fossils indicate that the carbon isotopic discrimination and water use efficiency (WUE) of S. vimineus were raised nearly obtaining the ideal physiologic state in increased CO2 concentrations and temperature conditions, suggesting that S. vimineus records the paleoenvironmental information of the Middle Jurassic Yaojie Basin and can be used for environmental reconstruction.YAN DeFei SUN BaiNian XIE SanPing LI XiangChuan WEN WenWen 2009Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,12:13
3Analysis of EET on Ca increasing the melting point of Mg_(17)Al_(12) phase显示文摘The present investigation showed that the additions of Ca to the alloy AZ91 were mainly dissolved into the Mg17Al12 phase and increased its melting point and thermal stability, which would have great effects on the high-temperature properties of AZ91 alloy. The empirical electron theory (EET) of solid and molecules was used to calculate the valence electron structures (VES) of Mg17Al12 intermetallic compound with and without Ca addition. The results showed that Ca dissolving in Mg17Al12 phase increased the strength of bonds that control the thermal stability of Mg17Al12 phase. Additions of Ca also made the distribution of the valence electrons on the dominant bond network more uniform in the whole unit cell of Mg17Al12. 5Mild hypothermia combined with a scaffold of Ng Rsilenced neural stem cells/Schwann cells to treat spinal cord injury显示文摘Because the inhibition of Nogo proteins can promote neurite growth and nerve cell differentiation, a cell-scaffold complex seeded with Nogo receptor(Ng R)-silenced neural stem cells and Schwann cells may be able to improve the microenvironment for spinal cord injury repair. Previous studies have found that mild hypothermia helps to attenuate secondary damage in the spinal cord and exerts a neuroprotective effect. Here, we constructed a cell-scaffold complex consisting of a poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA) scaffold seeded with Ng R-silenced neural stem cells and Schwann cells, and determined the effects of mild hypothermia combined with the cell-scaffold complexes on the spinal cord hemi-transection injury in the T9 segment in rats. Compared with the PLGA group and the Ng R-silencing cells + PLGA group, hindlimb motor function and nerve electrophysiological function were clearly improved, pathological changes in the injured spinal cord were attenuated, and the number of surviving cells and nerve fibers were increased in the group treated with the Ng R-silenced cell scaffold + mild hypothermia at 34°C for 6 hours. Furthermore, fewer pathological changes to the injured spinal cord and more surviving cells and nerve fibers were found after mild hypothermia therapy than in injuries not treated with mild hypothermia. 6Recent Progress on Engineering Highly Efficient Porous Semiconductor Photocatalysts Derived from Metal–Organic Frameworks显示文摘Porous structures o er highly accessible surfaces and rich pores, which facilitate the exposure of numerous active sites for photocatalytic reactions, leading to excellent performances. Recently, metal–organic frameworks(MOFs) have been considered ideal precursors for well-designed semiconductors with porous structures and/or heterostructures, which have shown enhanced photocatalytic activities. In this review, we summarize the recent development of porous structures, such as metal oxides and metal sulfides, and their heterostructures, derived from MOF-based materials as catalysts for various light-driven energy-/environment-related reactions, including water splitting, CO_2 reduction, organic redox reaction, and pollution degradation. 9Selectivity regulation of CO2 electroreduction through contact interface engineering on superwetting Cu nanoarray electrodes显示文摘Electrocatalytic CO2 reduction is a promising way to mitigate the urgent energy and environmental issues, but how to increase the selectivity for desired product among multiple competi ng reaction pathways remains a bottle neck. Here, we demonstrate that engineering the gas-liquid-solid contact interface on the electrode surface could tailor the selectivity of CO2 reducti on and meanwhile suppress H2 production through regulated reacti on kin etics. Specifically, polytetrafl uoroethyle ne (PTFE) was utilized to modify a Cu nano array electrode as an example, which is able to cha nge the electrode surface from aerophobic to aerophilic state. The en riched nano-tunnels of the Cu nano array electrode can facilitate CO2 transportation and pin gaseous products on the electrode surface. The latter is believed to be the reason that boosts the Faradaic efficie ncy of liquid products by 67% and limits the H2 producti on to less than half of before. This in terface engin eeri ng strategy also lowered H2O (proton) affinity, therefore promoting CO and HCOOH production. 12Common-Ion Effect Triggered Highly Sustained Seawater Electrolysis with Additional NaCl Production显示文摘Developing efficient seawater-electrolysis system for mass production of hydrogen is highly desirable due to the abundance of seawater.However,continuous electrolysis with seawater feeding boosts the concentration of sodium chloride in the electrolyzer,leading to severe electrode corrosion and chlorine evolution.Herein,the common-ion effect was utilized into the electrolyzer to depress the solubility of NaCl.Specifically,utilization of 6M NaOH halved the solubility of NaCl in the electrolyte,affording efficient,durable,and sustained seawater electrolysis in NaCl-saturated electrolytes with triple production of H_(2),O_(2),and crystalline NaCl.Ternary NiCoFe phosphide was employed as a bifunctional anode and cathode in simulative and Ca/Mg-free seawater-electrolysis systems,which could stably work under 500 mA/cm^(2) for over 100 h.We attribute the high stability to the increased Na^(+)concentration,which reduces the concentration of dissolved Cl-in the electrolyte according to the common-ion effect,resulting in crystallization of NaCl,eliminated anode corrosion,and chlorine oxidation during continuous supplementation of Ca/Mg-free seawater to the electrolysis system.Pengsong Li Shiyuan Wang Imran Ahmed Samo Xingheng Zhang Zhaolei Wang Cheng Wang Yang Li Yiyun Du Yang Zhong Congtian Cheng Wenwen Xu Xijun Liu Yun Kuang Zhiyi Lu Xiaoming Sun 2020Research2020,,1:3
13Spatial difference features and organization optimization of cities and towns in Tarim River Basin显示文摘This paper analyzes the urban spatial structure of Tarim River Basin from the perspectives of urbanization, urban density, grading scales and spatial evolution patterns, using geographical theories and methods, such as fractal theory, principle component analysis, urbanization imbalance index, urban scale imbalance indicator, and urban spatial interaction. The results show that the urban spatial structure displays balanced distribution in the overall pattern, while an imbalanced distribution in each region. The development of town pattern tends to be gathering to the central towns in the oasis of Tarim River Basin and a development axis has begun to form along the southern Xinjiang railway. Based on the division of urban hinterland, and the development characteristics of oasis economy, this paper puts forward an urban spatial organization model. This model uses 'breakpoint model' and divides Tarim River Basin into five urban clusters: Korla urban cluster, Kuqa urban cluster, Aksu urban cluster, Kashgar urban cluster and Hotan urban cluster. 14Comparative metabolic profiling of Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera during cold acclimation显示文摘Vitis amurensis is a wild Vitis plant that can withstand extreme cold temperatures.However,the accumulation of metabolites during cold acclimation(CA)in V.amurensis remains largely unknown.In this study,plantlets of V.amurensis and V.vinifera cv.Muscat of Hamburg were treated at 4℃ for 24 and 72 h,and changes of metabolites in leaves were detected by gas chromatography coupled with time-of-flight mass spectrometry.Most of the identified metabolites,including carbohydrates,amino acids,and organic acids,accumulated in the two types of grape after CA.Galactinol,raffinose,fructose,mannose,glycine,and ascorbate were continuously induced by cold in V.amurensis,but not in Muscat of Hamburg.Twelve metabolites,including isoleucine,valine,proline,2-oxoglutarate,and putrescine,increased in V.amurensis during CA.More galactinol,ascorbate,2-oxoglutarate,and putrescine,accumulated in V.amurensis,but not in Muscat of Hamburg,during CA,which may be responsible for the excellent cold tolerance in V.amurensis.The expression levels of the genes encodingβ-amylase(BAMY),galactinol synthase(GolS),and raffinose synthase(RafS)were evaluated by quantitative reverse transcription-PCR.The expression BAMY(VIT_02s0012 g00170)and RafS(VIT_05s0077 g00840)were primarily responsible for the accumulation of maltose and raffinose,respectively.The accumulation of galactinol was attributed to different members of GolS in the two grapes.In conclusion,these results show the inherent differences in metabolites between V.amurensis and V.vinifera under CA.Fengmei Chai Wenwen Liu Yue Xiang Xianbin Meng Xiaoming Sun Cheng Cheng Guotian Liu Lixin Duan Haiping Xin Shaohua Li 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:3
15Spatial differences in soybean bioactive components across China and their influence by weather factors显示文摘Bioactive components are partially responsible for the nutritional and health benefits of soybeans. Four major bioactive components: isoflavones, oligosaccharides, phospholipids,and saponins, were quantified in 763 soybean samples collected from widely distributed regions across China from 2010 to 2013. A majority of the tested bioactive components showed generally declining trends from the north(high latitude) to the south(low latitude).A positive relationship between total oligosaccharides(TO) and altitude was observed. Total isoflavones(TI), phospholipids(TP) and TO were negatively correlated with cumulative temperature above or equal to 15 °C(AT15) and mean daily temperature(MDT), but positively correlated with diurnal temperature range(DTR) and hours of sunshine(HS).Total saponins(TS) were negatively correlated with MDT but positively correlated with rainfall(RF), whereas TO were negatively correlated with RF. Path-coefficient analysis showed that, besides genotype differences, temperature and HS during the reproductive period influenced TI and TP contents, while temperature and RF influenced TS and TO. The effects of weather factors on soybean bioactive components in diverse regions of China were characterized. 16Anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide depend on mitochondrial complex-Ⅱ and the production of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species显示文摘Sulfonylureas are widely used oral anti-diabetic drugs.However,its long-term usage effects on patients’lifespan remain controversial,with no reports of influence on animal longevity.Hence,the anti-aging effects of chlorpropamide along with glimepiride,glibenclamide,and tolbutamide were studied with special emphasis on the interaction of chlorpropamide with mitochondrial ATP-sensitive K+(mito K-ATP)channels and mitochondrial complex II.Chlorpropamide delayed aging in Caenorhabditis elegans,human lung fibroblast MRC-5 cells and reduced doxorubicin-induced senescence in both MRC-5 cells and mice.In addition,the mitochondrial membrane potential and ATP levels were significantly increased in chlorpropamide-treated worms,which is consistent with the function of its reported targets,mito K-ATP channels.Increased levels of mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)were observed in chlorpropamide-treated worms.Moreover,the lifespan extension by chlorpropamide required complex II and increased mt ROS levels,indicating that chlorpropamide acts on complex II directly or indirectly via mito K-ATP to increase the production of mt ROS as a pro-longevity signal.This study provides mechanistic insight into the anti-aging effects of sulfonylureas in C.elegans.Zhifan Mao Wenwen Liu Yunyuan Huang Tianyue Sun Keting Bao Jiali Feng Alexey Moskalev Zelan Hu Jian Li 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,2:2

18Newly self-administered two-step tool for screening cognitive function in an ageing Chinese population:an exploratory cross-sectional study显示文摘Background Early screening of cognitive function is critical to dementia treatment and care.However,traditional tests require face-to-face administration and are often limited by implementation costs and biases.Aims This study aimed to assess whether the Thoven Cognitive Self-Assessment(TCSA),a novel,innovative two-step touchscreen-based cognition assessment tool,could identify early cognitive impairment due to dementia in older adults.Methods The TCSA was administered to 61 healthy controls(HCs),46 participants with mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and 44 participants diagnosed with dementia recruited from Shanghai.Two outcome measures were generated from the TCSA test:the TCSA_(primary task)score and the TCSA_(secondary task)score.Results The total average scores in the control group for the TCSA_(primary task)and TCSA_(secondary task)were significantly higher than those in the MCI and dementia groups(TCSA_(primary task):HCs vs MCI group vs dementia group,8.58±1.76 vs 5.40±2.67 vs 2.74±2.11,F=75.40,p<0.001;TCSA_(secondary task):HCs vs MCI group vs dementia group,23.02±3.31 vs 17.95±4.93 vs 11.93±5.50,F=76.46,p<0.001).Moreover,receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that a score below 7.5 for the TCSA_(primary task)and a score below 22.5 for the TCSA_(secondary task)were indicators of MCI.Conclusions The TCSA appears to be efficacious for the detection of cognitive impairment in older adults.It demonstrates the potential for large-scale cognition screening in community service settings.Jing Nie Yang Yang Yining Gao Wenwen Jiang Aisikeer Aidina Fei Sun Lucas R Prieto Jie Yu Kang Ju Lisheng Song Xia Li 2023General Psychiatry2023,36,1:2
19Functional Connectivity-Based Modelling Simulates SubjectSpecific Network Spreading Effects of Focal Brain Stimulation显示文摘Neurostimulation remarkably alleviates the symptoms in a variety of brain disorders by modulating the brain-wide network. However, how brain-wide effects on the direct and indirect pathways evoked by focal neurostimulation elicit therapeutic effects in an individual patient is unknown. Understanding this remains crucial for advancing neural circuit-based guidance to optimize candidate patient screening, pre-surgical target selection, and post-surgical parameter tuning. To address this issue, we propose a functional brain connectome-based modeling approach that simulates the spreading effects of stimulating different brain regions and quantifies the rectification of abnormal network topology in silico. We validated these analyses by pinpointing nuclei in the basal ganglia circuits as top-ranked targets for 43 local patients with Parkinson's disease and 90 patients from a public database. Individual connectome-based analysis demonstrated that the globus pallidus was the best choice for 21.1% and the subthalamic nucleus for 19.5% of patients. Down-regulation of functional connectivity(up to 12%) at these prioritized targets optimally maximized the therapeutic effects.
