| 2 | Incidence and mortality of esophagus cancer in China, 2008-2012显示文摘Objective: To analyze the incidence and mortality rates of esophagus cancer in China from 2008 to 2012.Methods: Incident and mortality cases of esophagus cancer were retrieved from the National Central Cancer Registry(NCCR) database collecting from 135 cancer registries in China during 2008-2012. The incidence and mortality rates of esophagus cancer were calculated by area(urban/rural), region(eastern, middle, western), gender and age group(0, 1-4, 5-84 by 5 years and 85+ years). China census in 2000 and Segi’s world population were applied for age-standardized rates. Joinpoint model was used for time-trend analysis.Results: The crude incidence rate of esophagus cancer was 22.57/100,000. The age-standardized incidence rates by China standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 14.58/100,000 and14.80/100,000, respectively. The crude mortality rate of esophagus cancer was 17.19/100,000. The agestandardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 10.80/100,000 and 10.86/100,000 respectively. Incidence and mortality rates of esophagus cancer were higher in males than in females and higher in rural areas than in urban areas. The crude incidence rate in middle areas was the highest among all areas, followed by western areas and eastern areas. The age-specific incidence rate of esophagus cancer was relatively low in age groups before 40 years old and then increased after 45 years old. It peaked in the age group of 80-84 years. The patterns of age-specific mortality rates of esophagus cancer were close to those of age-specific incidence rates. The ASIRC of esophagus cancer decreased dramatically by 29.87% between 2003 and 2012, from 14.33/100,000 to 10.05/100,000. The esophagus cancer incidence rate decreased by 3.76% per year(P>0.05). The mortality rate of esophagus cancer decreased annually over the decades from 2003 to 2012 in China(P>0.05). In females, the annual percentage change(APC) of mortality rate was-5.43%[95% confidence intervals(95% CI):-6.50%,-4.30%](P<0.05) and the mortality rate of esophagus cancer in rural females was statistically significant(APC:-3.20%, 95% CI:-4.20%,-2.20%)(P<0.05).Conclusions: The focus of prevention and treatment for esophagus cancer is strengthening primary prevention of esophageal cancer, and promoting esophagus cancer secondary prevention to reduce incidence and mortality rates of esophagus cancer, prolong survival rate of patients and decline the burden of esophagus cancer in China. | Yutong He Daojuan Li Baoen Shan Di Liang Jin Shi Wanqing Chen Jie He | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2019,31,3: | 24 |
| 3 | Incidence and mortality rate of esophageal cancer has decreased during past 40 years in Hebei Province,China显示文摘Background:Hebei province is located in North of China with of approximately 6% of whole national population.It is known as a high-risk area for esophageal cancer in China and worldwide.The aim of our study was to estimate the esophageal cancer burden and trend in Hebei Province.Methods:Eight cancer registries in Hebei Province submitted cancer registry data to the Hebei Provincial Cancer Registry Center.All data were qualified and compiled for cancer statistics in 2011.The pooled data were stratified by gender and age group(0,1-4,5-9,10-14…80+).Incidence and mortality rates were age-standardized to World Segi's population standard and expressed per 100,000 persons.In addition,proportions and cumulative incidence/mortality rates for esophageal cancer were calculated.Esophageal cancer mortality data during the periods 1973-1975,1990-1992,and 2004-2005 were extracted from the national death surveys.Mortality and incidence rate data from Cixian and Shexian were obtained from population-based cancer registries in each county.Results:The estimated number of newly diagnosed esophageal cancer cases and deaths in 2011 in Hebei Province was 24,318 and 18,226,respectively.The crude incidence rate of esophageal cancer was 33.37/100,000(males,42.18/100,000 and females,24.31/100,000).The age-standardized rate by world standard population(ASRW) was 28.09/100,000,ranking third among all cancers.The esophageal cancer mortality rate was 25.01/100,000(males,31.40/100,000 and females,18.45/100,000),ranking third in deaths among all cancers.The mortality rates of esophageal cancer displayed a significant decreasing trend in Hebei Province from 1973-1975(ASRW =48.69/100,000) to 2004-2005(ASRW =28.02/100,000),with a decreased rate of 42.45%.In Cixian,the incidence of esophageal cancer decreased from 250.76/100,000 to 106.74/100,000 in males and from 153.86/100,000 to 75.41/100,000 in females,with annual percentage changes(APC) of 2.13 and 2.16,while the mortality rates declined with an APC of 2.46 for males and 3.10 for females from 1988 to 2011.In Shexian,the incidence rate decreased from 116.90/100,000 to 74.12/100,000 in males and from 46.98/100,000 to 40.64/100,000 in females,while the mortality rates declined,with an APC of 4.89 in males from 2003 to 2011.Conclusions:Although the incidence and mortality rates of esophageal cancer remain high,an obvious decreasing trend has been observed in Hebei Province,as well as in high-risk regions,such as Cixian and Shexian,over the past 40 years. | Yutong He Yan Wu Guohui Song Yongwei Li Di Liang Jing Jin Denggui Wen Baoen Shan | 2015 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2015,27,6: | 22 |

| 5 | Effects of potassium deficiency on photosynthesis and photoprotection mechanisms in soybean(Glycine max(L.)Merr.)显示文摘Potassium is an important nutrient element requiring high concentration for photosynthetic metabolism.The potassium deficiency in soil could inhibit soybean(Glycine max(L.) Merr.) photosynthesis and result in yield reduction.Research on the photosynthetic variations of the different tolerant soyben varieties should provide important information for high yield tolerant soybean breeding program.Two representative soybean varieties Tiefeng 40(tolerance to K^+ deficiency) and GD8521(sensitive to K^+ deficiency) were hydroponically grown to measure the photosynthesis,chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and Rubisco activity under different potassium conditions.With the K-deficiency stress time extending,the net photosynthetic rate(P_n),transpiration rate(T_r) and stomatal conductance(G_s) of GD8521 were significantly decreased under K-deficiency condition,whereas the intercellular CO_2 concentration(C_i) was significantly increased.As a contrast,the variations of Tiefeng 40 were almost little under K-deficiency condition,which indicated tolerance to K^+ deficiency variety could maintain higher efficient photosynthesis.On the 25 th d after treatment,the minimal fluorescence(F_0) of GD8521 was significantly increased and the maximal fluorescence(F_m),the maximum quantum efficiency of PSII photochemistry(F√F_m),actual photochemical efficiency of PSII(φ_(PSII)),photochemical quenching(q_p),and electron transport rate of PSII(ETR)were significantly decreased under K^+ deficiency condition.In addition,the Rubisco content of GD8521 was significantly decreased in leaves.It is particularly noteworthy that the chlorophyll fluorescence parameters and Rubisco content of Tiefeng 40 were unaffected under K^+ deficiency condition.On the other hand,the non-photochemical quenching(q_N) of Tiefeng 40 was significantly increased.The dry matter weight of Tiefeng 40 was little affected under K^+ deficiency condition.Results indicated that Tiefeng 40 could avoid or relieve the destruction of PSII caused by exceeded absorbed solar energy under K-deficiency condition and maintain natural photosynthesis and plant growth.It was an essential physiological mechanism for low-K-tolerant soybean under K-deficiency stress. | WANG Xiao-guang ZHAO Xin-hua JIANG Chun-ji LI Chun-hong CONG Shan WU Di CHEN Yan-qiu YU Hai-qiu WANG Chun-yan | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2015,14,5: | 11 |

| 8 | Effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures in the sequencing batch biofilm reactor显示文摘The effects of tourmaline on nitrogen removal performance and biofilm structures were comparatively investigated in two identical laboratory-scale sequencing batch biofilm reactors(SBBRs)(denoted SBBR1 and SBBR2) at different nitrogen loading rates(NLRs) varying from(0.24 ± 0.01) to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). SBBR1 was operated in parallel with SBBR2, but SBBR1 was filled with polyurethane foam loaded tourmaline(TPU) carriers and another(SBBR2) filled with polyurethane foam(PU) carriers. Results obtained from this study showed that the excellent and stable performance of SBBR1 was obtained. Ammonia nitrogen removal and total nitrogen removal were higher in SBBR1 than that in SBBR2 with increase of NLR. At an NLR of(0.24 ± 0.01) g N/(L·day), the majority of the spherical and elliptical bacteria were surrounded by the extracellular polymeric substance(EPS) and bacillus or filamentous bacteria in two SBBRs biofilms. When NLR increased to(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day), the clusters were more obvious in the SBBR1 biofilm than that in the SBBR2 biofilm. Bacteria in SBBR1 were inclined to synthesis more EPS, and the formed EPS could protect the bacteria from free ammonia(FA) under extreme condition NLR(1.26 ± 0.02) g N/(L·day). | 10 | Clinical characteristics and survival of 5283 esophageal cancer patients: A multicenter study from eighteen hospitals across six regions in China显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to investigate the potential determining epidemiological and clinical risk factors affecting the survival of esophageal cancer(EC)patients across multiple hospitals in China.Methods:This was a multicenter study comprising of newly diagnosed EC cases from Beijing,Hebei,Henan,Hubei,Zhejiang,and Guangdong Province of China.Their baseline characteristics and treatment methods data were collected from their medical records.The EpiData software was used for data quality control.The Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate their overall survival(OS),and the Cox’s proportional hazard regression model was used to estimate hazard ratios(HR)and 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:The 3-and 5-year OS rates of the 5283 investigated EC patients were 49.98%and 39.07%,respectively.Their median survival was 36.00 months.The median survival time of females was longer than that of males(females vs.males:45.00 vs.33.00,P<0.001).The 5-year OS rate of patients who never-smoked was higher than that of smokers(never-smokers vs smokers:40.73%vs.37.84%,P=0.001).There was no significant difference in the 5-year OS rate between drinkers and never-drinkers(drinkers vs never-drinkers:34.22%vs.29.65%,P=0.330).In multivariate analysis,pathological stage(stage II:HR=1.80,95%CI=1.40-2.31;stage III:HR=2.62,95%CI=2.06-3.34;stage IV:HR=3.90,95%CI=2.98-5.09),poor differentiation/undifferentiated(HR=1.34,95%CI=1.11-1.63),not married status(HR=2.45,95%CI=1.49-4.04),production and service personnel(HR=1.36,95%CI=1.01-1.83)and farming/fishing(HR=1.40,95%CI=1.12-1.76)were independent prognostic risk factors for poor EC survival.Tumors in the thoracic or abdominal part of the esophagus,female and family history of any cancer were independent factors predictive of a good EC OS.Conclusion:Gender,marital status,occupation,family history of any cancer,tumor topographical site,differentiation status,and pathological stage were associated with the survival rate of EC.This study reveals important clinical characteristics of esophageal cancer patients in China and provides helpful information for their clinical management and surveillance. | Yutong He Di Liang Lingbin Du Tiantian Guo Yanyu Liu Xibin Sun Ning Wang Min Zhang Kuangrong Wei Baoen Shan Wanqing Chen | 2020 | Cancer Communications2020,40,10: | 8 |
| 11 | Estimated cancer incidence and mortality in Hebei province,2012显示文摘Objective: This study estimates the numbers of new cancer cases and cancer deaths in Hebei province using incidence and mortality data from 9 population-based cancer registries in 2012.Methods: The data of new diagnosed cancer cases and cancer deaths in 2012 were collected from 9 population-based cancer registries of Hebei province in 2015. All the data met the National Central Cancer Registry of China(NCCR) criteria of data quality. The pooled data analysis was stratified by areas(urban/rural), gender, age group(0, 1-4, 5-9, 10-14, …, 85+) and cancer type. New cancer cases and deaths in Hebei province were estimated using age-specific rates and corresponding provincial population in 2012. The 10 most common cancers in different groups and the cumulative rates were calculated. Chinese population census in 2000 and Segi's population were used for age-standardized incidence/mortality rates. Results: All cancer registries covered 4,986,847 populations, 6.84% of Hebei provincial population(2,098,547 in urban and 2,888,300 in rural areas). The percentage of cases morphologically verified(MV%) and death certificate-only cases(DCO%) were 76.40% and 4.72%, respectively. The mortality to incidence rate ratio(M/I) was 0.64. In 2012, it is estimated that there were about 187,900 new diagnosed cancer cases and 119,800 cancer deaths in Hebei province. The incidence rate of cancer was 258.12/100,000(275.75/100,000 in males, 239.78/100,000 in females), and the age-standardized incidence rates by Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and by world standard population(ASIRW) were 210.65/100,000 and 208.50/100,000, with the cumulative incidence rates(0-74 years old) of 24.46%. The cancer incidence and ASIRC were 256.99/100,000 and 211.32/100,000 in urban areas and 258.94/100,000 and 209.99/100,000 in rural areas, respectively. The cancer mortality rate was 164.63/100,000(201.85/100,000 in males, 125.92/100,000 in females). Agestandardized mortality rates by Chinese standard population(ASMRC) and by world standard population(ASMRW) were 137.30/100,000 and 137.39/100,000 with the cumulative mortality rate(0-74 years old) of 14.58%, respectively. The cancer mortality rate in rural areas(167.16/100,000) was higher than that in urban areas(161.16/100,000). The most common cancers were lung cancer, stomach cancer, breast cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer and colorectal cancer, which accounted for 72.31% of all cancer cases. Lung cancer, stomach cancer, liver cancer, esophageal cancer and colorectal cancer were the major causes of cancer death in Hebei province, which accounted for 75.24% of all cancer deaths. | 15 | DNA degradation within mouse brain and dental pulp cells 72 hours postmortem显示文摘In this study, we sought to elucidate the process of DNA degradation in brain and dental pulp cells of mice, within postmortem 0-72 hours, by using the single cell gel electrophoresis assay and professional comet image analysis and processing techniques. The frequency of comet-like cells, the percentage of tail DNA, tail length, tail moment, Olive moment and tail area increased in tandem with increasing postmortem interval. In contrast, the head radius, the percentage of head DNA and head area showed a decreasing trend. Linear regression analysis revealed a high correlation between these parameters and the postmortem interval. | 16 | CHIP regulates bone mass by targeting multiple TRAF family members in bone marrow stromal cells显示文摘Carboxyl terminus of Hsp70-interacting protein(CHIP or STUB1) is an E3 ligase and regulates the stability of several proteins which are involved in different cellular functions. Our previous studies demonstrated that Chip deficient mice display bone loss phenotype due to increased osteoclast formation through enhancing TRAF6 activity in osteoclasts. In this study we provide novel evidence about the function of CHIP. We found that osteoblast differentiation and bone formation were also decreased in Chip KO mice. In bone marrow stromal(BMS) cells derived from Chip^(-/-) mice, expression of a panel of osteoblast marker genes was significantly decreased. ALP activity and mineralized bone matrix formation were also reduced in Chip-deficient BMS cells. We also found that in addition to the regulation of TRAF6, CHIP also inhibits TNFα-induced NF-κB signaling through promoting TRAF2 and TRAF5 degradation. Specific deletion of Chip in BMS cells downregulated expression of osteoblast marker genes which could be reversed by the addition of NF-κB inhibitor. These results demonstrate that the osteopenic phenotype observed in Chip^(-/-) mice was due to the combination of increased osteoclast formation and decreased osteoblast differentiation. | 18 | Parafoveal retinal massage combined with autologous blood cover in the management of giant,persistent or recurrent macular holes显示文摘AIM:To assess the efficacy and safety of parafoveal retinal massage combined with autologous whole blood cover in the treatment of refractory macular holes(MHs)and present the surgical procedure.METHODS:Patients with giant(minimum diameter>800 pm),recurrent or persistent MHs who underwent PPV combined with parafoveal retinal massage and autologous whole blood cover using C3F8 as tamponade agent from February 2018 to May 2019 were enrolled in this retrospective study.After surgery,all patients were informed to maintain a prone position for at least 7d.Preoperative and postoperative best-corrected visual acuities(BCVAs)were compared and MH closure rate was measured as the main outcome.RESULTS:A total of 13 MH patients consisted of 6 giant MHs,4 persistent holes and 3 recurrent holes(5 men and 8 women;average age was 56.40±11.72y)were enrolled in this study.MH closure was achieved in 11 eyes by this modified surgical technique while 2 eyes failed.Revitrectomy with autologous neurosensory retinal patch transplantations was applied for those 2 patients and then both holes were closed.No intraoperative complications were observed.BCVA improved from 1.73 IogMAR to 0.74 IogMAR at 6mo postoperation.There was significant difference in BCVA before versus after the surgery(P<0.05).There were no adverse events occurred during the follow-up period.CONCLUSION:With easier surgical procedure,parafoveal retinal massage combined with autologous whole blood cover is an effective addition to the surgical options for the management of refractory MHs. | Hua Wang Meng Ji Rong Di Yun Qi Cheng Pei Shan Gao Si-Wei Liu An-Ming Xie Yu-Hong Cheng | 2020 | International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2020,13,11: | 4 |
| 19 | Changes of Extreme Precipitation and its Associated Mechanisms in Northwest China显示文摘Characterized by scarce water resources and fragile ecosystems,Northwest China(NWC)has experienced a climate shift from warm-dry to warm-wet conditions since the 1980s that has garnered extensive concern in recent years.In this study,the variability in extreme precipitation(EP)during 1961-2016 in different climate zones of NWC and the possible mechanisms for this variation are investigated.The results show that the EP trends significantly increased in most of the westerly zone(WZ)and plateau zone(PZ),while the EP trends did not significantly decrease in the monsoon zone(MZ).The start dates of extreme precipitation(SDEP)and end dates of extreme precipitation(EDEP)advanced and were postponed,respectively,in the WZ and PZ,while the opposite occurred in the MZ.Summer atmospheric circulation,water vapor transport,and atmospheric instability over NWC varied greatly with the interdecadal shift in EP before and after 1986.During 1986-2016,upper-level divergence and lower-level convergence occurred in the MZ and PZ,which strengthened ascending flow.In addition,the summer water vapor and atmospheric instability increased in the WZ and PZ.These characteristics created favorable conditions for increased occurrences of EP in the WZ and PZ in summer.Conversely,the upper-level convergence and lower-level divergence in the MZ strengthened descending flow.Decreases in summer water vapor and atmospheric instability occurred in the MZ after 1986.Hence,the environmental conditions in the MZ may have prevented the occurrence and development of EP in summer during 1986-2016. | Shan LU Zeyong HU Haipeng YU Weiwei FAN Chunwei FU Di WU | 2021 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,10: | 4 |
| 20 | A 256×256 time-of-flight image sensor based on center-tap demodulation pixel structure显示文摘This paper proposes a 256×256 time-of-flight(TOF) image sensor based on the center-tap(CT)demodulation pixel structure. The image sensor can capture both the two-dimensional(2D) high speed image and the three-dimensional(3D) depth image. The CT pixel consists of two split pinned photodiode(PPD)regions and two pairs of transfer transistors. The transfer transistors adopt a non-uniform doped channel(NUDC) structure, which can increase the electron transfer speed along the transfer channel and eliminate the image lag for high speed imaging. The pixel size is 10 μm×10 μm, and we design the implementation process of the pixel to increase the electron transfer speed. The sensor is fabricated in a 0.18 μm 1P5 M CMOS image sensor process. Test results show that it can capture the 430-fps intensity image and the 90-fps depth image in two different imaging modes.
