| 1 | High adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ)by modification of synthetic zeolites Y,A and mordenite with thiourea显示文摘Zeolites Y,A and mordenite(ZY,ZA and ZM)were obtained from diatomite in a template-free system,and the products were modified by thiourea(TU).Characterization studies results indicated that the TU molecules were loaded onto the exterior surfaces of the synthetic zeolites as well as the channels.Elemental analysis and energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer proved that the TU molecules loaded on to ZA were more than ZY and ZM.Removal of Cd(Ⅱ)was investigated,and itwas found that themodified zeolites have higher removal capacity,modified ZA is especially noticeable.In the adsorption experiments,the effects of various parameters such as sorbent content,contact time,concentration of cadmium solution,pH,selectivity and regeneration were discussed.At the best removal efficiency by modified zeolites,the maximum adsorption capacity is 94.3 mg·g^−1,103.2 mg·g^−1 and 89.7 mg·g^−1 at 25℃,respectively.The sorbents show good efficiency for the removal of Cd(Ⅱ)in the presence of different multivalent cations and have good regeneration effect.For the modified samples,removal experiments take place via ion exchange and complexation processes. | Shaoqing Zhang Tianming Lv Yang Mu Jiqi Zheng Changgong Meng | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,12: | 5 |

| 3 | Triggering the biocontrol of Botrytis cinerea by Trichoderma harzianum through inhibition of pathogenicity and virulence related proteins显示文摘This study reports a strain of Trichoderma harzianum CCTCC-SBW0162 with potential to enhance biocontrol activity against gray mold pathogen, Botrytis cinerea, and with a pivotal role in tomato(Solanum esculentum) plant growth enhancement. A total of 254 Trichoderma isolates were screened by in vitro antagonistic assay. Of these, 10 were selected for greenhouse experiments based on their greater inhibition of B. cinerea.The in vitro antagonistic assay and greenhouse experiments indicated that T. harzianum CCTCC-SBW0162 gave the highest inhibition rate(90.6%) and disease reduction(80.7%). Also, to study the possible mechanism associated with antifungal activity of CCTCC-SBW0162 against B. cinerea, molecular docking was used to assess the interactions between CCTCC-SBW0162-derived metabolites, and pathogencity and virulence related proteins of B. cinerea. | 4 | Preparation and Osteogenic Efficacy of Emodin-loaded Hydroxyapatite Electrospun Fibers显示文摘Biological scaffolds have been the focus of bone tissue engineering research in recent years. In this paper, emodin (EM), macromolecular compound polycaprolactone (PCL), and hydroxyapatite (HA) were used as raw materials to prepare EM/PCL/HA fibers containing different EM ratios by electrospinning, and the properties and osteogenic efficacy of EM/PCL/HA were studied. Scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy were used to characterize the structures of HA and the electrospun fibers. Results showed that HA has high crystallinity and loose porous structure, and the electrospun fibers have a smooth and flat surface. In vitro release results showed that EM was slowly released from EM/PCL/HA within 216 h. Cell proliferation assay in mouse embryonic osteoblast precursor cells (MC3T3-E1) exhibited that 5% EM/PCL/HA had the best effect on promoting cell proliferation. Alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and mineralized nodules staining results also showed that 5% EM/PCL/HA had the best effect on promoting osteogenic differentiation. qRT-PCR results showed that the mRNA expression level of osteoblast differentiation markers, namely, bone morphogenetic protein (BMP)-2, BMP-9, and osteocalcin were significantly upregulated by 5% EM/PCL/HA treatment. | 6 | Core activated sludge communities are influenced little by immigration:Case study of a membrane bioreactor plant显示文摘Microbial immigrants arriving with influent wastewater may influence activated sludge(AS)ecosystems.However,the extent to which immigration impacts AS communities is still debated.To explore the intensity of immigration impact,we used sequencing technology to track the raw wastewater and AS communities from a membrane bioreactor plant over a 12-month period.We first distinguished core populations from peripheral ones in both raw wastewater and AS based on their occurrence frequency and abundance.The results showed that core OTUs(≥80%occurrence frequency)made up a large fraction(>90%)of total sequences,while peripheral OTUs composed the majority of all detected OTUs but merely occupied a few sequences.A significant difference in core communities between the influent and AS was found,as well as between the compositions of core and peripheral populations.Additionally,the persistent functional bacteria of AS,although not numerically dominant,accounted for 96.24%of the total sequences related to nutrient turnover,suggesting the presence of a small number of longstanding and core functional bacteria in the AS ecosystem.Importantly,64%of the 5188 OTUs in AS,which accounted for 91.51%of the sequences,exhibited positive growth rates,which suggested that their apparent abundances were due to growth within the plant,not from immigration.Taken together,these results demonstrated that the impact of influent populations on core AS communities was limited.Overall,this work provides quantitative insights into the impact of immigration,which is expected to advance our understanding of the AS community assembly. | Shaoqing Zhang Fangang Meng | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,4: | 0 |

| 10 | Tank-dependence of the functionality and network differentiation of activated sludge community in a full-scale anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic municipal sewage treatment plant显示文摘Understanding the structures and dynamics of bacterial communities in activated sludge(AS)in full-scale wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs)is of both engineering and ecological significance.Previous investigations have mainly focused on the AS communities of WWTP aeration tanks,and the differences and interactions between the communities in anaerobic and anoxic tanks of the AS system remain poorly understood.Here,we investigated the structures of bacterial communities and their inter-connections in three tanks(anaerobic,anoxic,and aerobic)and influent from a full-scale WWTP with conventional anaerobic/anoxic/aerobic(A/A/O)process over a year to explore their functionality and network differentiation.High-throughput sequencing showed that community compositions did not differ appreciably between the different tanks,likely due to the continuous sludge community interchange between tanks.However,network analysis showed significant differences in inter-species relationships,OTU topological roles,and keystone populations in the different AS communities.Moreover,the anoxic network is expected to be more unstable and easily affected by environmental disturbance.Tank-associated environmental factors,including dissolved oxygen,pH,and nutrients,were found to affect the relative abundance of functional genera(i.e.,AOB,NOB,PAOs,and denitrifiers),suggesting that these groups were more susceptible to environmental variables than other bacteria.Therefore,this work could assist in improving our understanding of tank-associated microbial ecology,particularly the response of functional bacteria to seasonal variations in WWTPs employing A/A/O process. | Hongcan Cui Ronghua Xu Zhong Yu Yuanyuan Yao Shaoqing Zhang Fangang Meng | 2023 | Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2023,17,3: | 0 |
