1Preliminary results pertaining to coseismic displacement and preseismic strain accumulation of the Lushan M_S7.0 earthquake,as reflected by GPS surveying显示文摘This paper presents the coseismic displacement and preseismic deformation fields of the Lushan MS7.0 earthquake that occurred on April 20,2013.The results are based on GPS observations along the Longmenshan fault and within its vicinity.The coseismic displacement and preseismic GPS results indicate that in the strain release of this earthquake,the thrust rupture is dominant and the laevorotation movement is secondary.Furthermore,we infer that any possible the rupture does not reach the earth’s surface,and the seismogenic fault is most likely one fault to the east of the Guanxian-Anxian fault.Some detailed results are obtainable.(1)The southern segment of the Longmenshan fault is locked preceding the Lushan earthquake.After the Wenchuan earthquake,the strain accumulation rate in the southeast direction accelerates in the epicenter of the Lushan earthquake,and the angle between the principal compressional strain and the seismogenic fault indicates that a sinistral deformation background in the direction of the seismogenic fault precedes the Lushan earthquake.Therefore,it is evident that the Wenchuan MS8.0 earthquake accelerated the pregnancy of the Lushan earthquake.(2)The coseismic displacements reflected by GPS data are mainly located in a region that is 230 km(NW direction)×100 km(SW direction),and coseismic displacements larger than 10 mm lie predominantly in a100-km region(NW direction).(3)On a large scale,the coseismic displacement shows thrust characteristics,but the associated values are remarkably small in the near field(within 70 km)of the earthquake fault.Meanwhile,the thrust movement in this70-km region does not correspond with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release,indicating that the rupture of this earthquake does not reach the earth’s surface.(4)The laevorotation movements are remarkable in the 50-km region,which is located in the hanging wall that is close to the earthquake fault,and the corresponding values in this case correlate with the attenuation characteristics of the strain release.WU YanQiang JIANG ZaiSen WANG Min CHE Shi LIAO Hua LI Qiang LI Peng YANG YongLin XIANG HePing SHAO ZhiGang WANG WuXing WEI WenXin LIU XiaoXia 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,28:33

3Integral stormwater management master plan and design in an ecological community显示文摘Urban stormwater runoff nearly discharges directly into bodies of water through gray infrastructure in China,such as sewers,impermeable ditches,and pump stations.As urban flooding,water shortage,and other environment problems become serious,integrated water environment management is becoming increasingly complex and challenging.At more than 200 ha,the Oriental Sun City community is a large retirement community located in the eastern side of Beijing.During the beginning of its construction,the project faced a series of serious water environment crises such as eutrophication,flood risk,water shortage,and high maintenance costs.To address these issues,an integral stormwater management master plan was developed based on the concept of low impact development(LID).A large number of LID and green stormwater infrastructure(GSI)approaches were designed and applied in the community to replace traditional stormwater drainage systems completely.These approaches mainly included bioretention(which captured nearly 85th percentile volume of the annual runoff in the site,nearly 5.4×105m3annually),swales(which functioned as a substitute for traditional stormwater pipes),waterscapes,and stormwater wetlands.Finally,a stormwater system plan was proposed by integrating with the gray water system,landscape planning,an architectural master plan,and related consultations that supported the entire construction period.After more than 10 years of planning,designing,construction,and operation,Oriental Sun City has become one of the earliest modern large-scale LID communities in China.Moreover,the project not only addressed the crisis efficiently and effectively,but also yielded economic and ecological benefits.Wu Che Yang Zhao Zheng Yang Junqi Li Man Shi 2014Journal of Environmental Sciences2014,26,9:13

6Down-regulation of eIF5A-2 prevents epithelial-mesenchymal transition in non-small-cell lung cancer cells显示文摘Background:Epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) is believed to be the critical process in malignant tumor invasion and metastases,and has a great influence on improving the survival rate in non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients.Recent studies suggested that eukaryotic initiation factor 5A-2(eIF5A-2) might serve as an adverse prognostic marker of survival.We detected eIF5A-2 in NSCLC A549 cells,and found that the invasive capability correlates with the eIF5A-2 expression.Methods:Transforming growth factor(TGF)-β1 was used to induce EMT in A549 cells.Western blotting,immunofluorescence,wound healing assay,and transwell-matrigel invasion chambers were used to identify phenotype changes.Western blotting was also used to observe changes of the expression of eIF5A-2.We down-regulated the eIF5A-2 expression using an eIF5A-2 siRNA and identified the phenotype changes by western blotting and immunofluorescence.We tested the change of migration and invasion capabilities of A549 cells by the wound healing assay and transwell-matrigel invasion chambers.Results:After stimulating with TGF-β1,almost all A549 cells changed to the mesenchymal phenotype and acquired more migration and invasion capabilities.These cells also had higher eIF5A-2 protein expression.Down-regulation of eIF5A-2 expression with eIF5A-2 siRNA transfection could change the cells from mesenchymal to epithelial phenotype and decrease tumor cell migration and invasive capabilities significantly.Conclusions:The expression of eIF5A-2 was up-regulated following EMT phenotype changes in A549 cells,which correlated with enhanced tumor invasion and metastatic capabilities.Furthermore,in the A549 cell line,the process of EMT phenotype change could be reversed by eIF5A-2 siRNA,with a consequent weakening of both invasive and metastatic capabilities.Guo-dong XU Xin-bao SHI Le-bo SUN Qing-yun ZHOU Da-wei ZHENG Huo-shun SHI Yong-liang CHE Zi-shan WANG Guo-feng SHAO 2013Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2013,14,6:6

9Estimation and inter-comparison of dust aerosols based on MODIS, MISR and AERONET retrievals over Asian desert regions显示文摘This study presents detailed analysis of spatiotemporal variations and trend of dust optical properties i.e., Aerosol Optical Depth(AOD) and Angstrom component over Asian desert regions using thirteen years of data(i.e., 2001–2013) retrieved from Aerosol Robotic Network(AERONET), Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) and Multi-angle Imaging Spectroradiometer(MISR). These regions include Solar Village, Dunhuang and Dalangzadgad and are considered as origin of desert aerosols in Asia. Mann–Kendall trend test was used to show the trend of AOD. The relationship of AOD with weather parameters and general AOD trend over different wavelengths has also been shown. AOD's trend has been observed significant throughout the year in Solar Village, while in Dunhuang and Dalanzadgad the significant trend has been found only in peak period(March–June).Analysis show high values of AOD and low values of angstrom in Solar Village during peak period. In Chinese desert regions, high values of AOD have been found during peak period and low values in pre-peak period. 11Case study of longwave contribution to dust radiative effects over East Asia显示文摘In order to evaluate the impacts of LW contribution to aerosol radiative effects over East Asia,a dust longwave radiative parameterization scheme is integrated into the online mesoscale dust forecasting model GRAPES_CUACE/dust.A case modeling study shows that about half at surface and one third at TOA of the dust negative shortwave radiative forcing are cancelled by its positive longwave forcing over the dust affected area.In the dust layer,longwave radiation emitting by dust cools the atmosphere,which counteracts about 17%of shortwave heating of atmosphere during daytime and results in cooling of atmosphere simply during nighttime.At the same time,the atmosphere beyond the dust layer is warmed because of absorbing the LW radiation emitted by dust layer.Dust longwave contribution exerts more evident impact on the air temperature in lower atmosphere and surface.The surface air temperature cooling rate resulting from the dust solar radiation is cancelled about 40%by dust longwave warming at daytime.At nighttime,dust longwave contribution warms land and sea surface.The online calculation of dust LW radiation reduces about 15%relative errors of predicted AOD based on the dust model with only SW radiative feedback.This case study result suggests that dust longwave contribution has important impacts on the earth-atmosphere energy process,especially on the surface and in the lower atmosphere and should not be neglected in the study of dust radiation effects.WANG Hong SHI GuangYu ZHU Jing CHEN Bin CHE HuiZheng ZHAO TianLiang 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,30:4
12Microsatellite DNA Variation of the Gametophyte Clones Isolated from Introduced Laminaria japonica (Phaeophyta) and L. longissima of China and Varieties Derived from them显示文摘The variation of 90 Laminaria gametophyte clones representing the introduced Laminaria japonica (Group 1) and Laminaria longissima (Group 2), the varieties of L. japonica (Group 3) and the varieties derived from interspecific hybrids (Group 4) was determined with 18 microsatellite markers. The allelic diversity and Nei's gene diversity of Group 1 were significantly higher than those of Group 2 (2.9 vs. 1.8 and 0.414 vs. 0.161, respectively), demonstrating that the variation of the introduced L. japonica is richer than that of L. longissima. Both allelic diversity and Nei's gene diversity of Group 3 were lower than those of Group 1, indicating that only a portion of variation of L. japonica was incorporated into the varieties of L. japonica. Significant genetic differentiation was detected between four groups and between female (Population 1) and male (Population 2) gametophyte clones in each group. The variation among groups accounted for 39.95%, while that among populations accounted for 21.65% of the total. 13Tojapride Reverses Esophageal Epithelial Inflammatory Responses on Reflux Esophagitis Model Rats显示文摘Objective To investigate the mechanism of Tojapride,a Chinese herbal formula extract,on strengthening the barrier function of esophageal epithelium in rats with reflux esophagitis(RE).Methods Ten out of 85 SD rats were randomly selected as the sham group(n10),and 75 rats were developed a reflux esophagitis model(RE)by the esophageal and duodenal side-to-side anastomosis.Fifty successful modeling rats were divided into different medicated groups through a random number table including the model,low-,medium-,and high-dose of Tojapride as well as omeprazole groups(n10).Three doses of Tojapride[5.73,11.46,22.92 g/(kg•d)]and omeprazole[4.17 mg/(kg•d)]were administrated intragastrically twice daily for 3 weeks.And the rats in the sham and model groups were administered 10 mL/kg distilled water.Gastric fluid was collected and the supernatant was kept to measure for volume,pH value and acidity.Esophageal tissues were isolated to monitor the morphological changes through hematoxylin-eosin(HE)staining,and esophageal epithelial ultrastructure was observed by transmission electron microscopy.The expressions of nuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B cells p65(NF-KBp65),κB kinase beta(IKKß),occludin,and zonula occludens-1(ZO-1)in the esophageal tissues were measured by immunohistochemistry and Western blot,respectively.Results The gastric pH value in the model group was significantly lower than the sham group(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,gastric pH value in the omeprazole and medium-dose of Tojapride groups were significantly higher(P<0.05).A large area of ulceration was found on the esophageal mucosa from the model rats,while varying degrees of congestion and partially visible erosion was observed in the remaining groups.Remarkable increase in cell gap width and decrease in desmosome count was seen in RE rats and the effect was reversed by Tojapride treatment.Compared with the sham group,the IKKßlevels were significantly higher in the model group(P<0.05).However,the IKKßlevels were down-regulated after treatment by all doses of Tojapride(P<0.01 or P<0.05).The occluding and ZO-1 levels decreased in the model group compared with the sham group(Ps0.01 or Ps0.05),while both indices were significantly up-regulated in the Tojapride-treated groups(P<0.01 or P<0.05).Conclusions Tojapride could improve the pathological conditions of esophageal epithelium in RE rats.The underlying mechanisms may involve in down-regulating the IKKßexpression and elevating ZO-1 and occludin expression,thereby alleviating the inflammation of the esophagus and strengthening the barrier function of the esophageal epithelium.YIN Xiao-lan ZHONG Linda LIN Cheng-yuan SHI Xiao-shuang ZHANG Jiao CHEN Zheng-yi CHE Hui MA Xiang-xue TIAN Ya-xin DUAN Yuan-zhi LU Lin Jl Hai-jie ZHAO Ying-pan TANG Xu-dong WANG Feng-yun 2021Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,8:4
14Influence of As_2O_3 combined with ginsenosides Rg3 on inhibition of lung cancer NCI-H1299 cells and on subsistence of nude mice bearing hepatoma显示文摘Objective:To study the effect of arsenic trioxide(As_2O_3)combined with ginsenosides Rg3 on inhibiting the NCI-H1299 lung cancer cells and subsistence in nude mice bearing hepatoma.Methods:MTT method was used to measure the inhibition effect of(As_2O_3)combined Rg3 on NC1-H1299 cells,and the proliferation inhibiting effect was observed via establishing the transplanted tumor model in vitro.A total of 40 tumor-bearing nude mice were randomly divided into normal saline group,(As_2O_3),Rg3 and As_2O_3+Rg3 group.Transplantation tumor model of lung cancer in nude mice was constructed,followed by injection of certain concentrations of normal saline,As_2O_3,ginseng saponin Rg3 and As_2O_3+Rg3 every day.The survival duration and the tumors size of the mice were recorded and the Kaplan-Meier curve was made;microscopic observation of apoptosis of tumor cells in vivo was done using TUNEL staining.Results:After 72 h of injection.inhibition rate of tumor cell in normal saline group,As_2O_3 group.Rg3 group and As_2O_3+Rg3 group was(5.66±0.31)%,(65.58±4.75)%,(44.69±3.32)%and(82.67±5.43)%,respectively.Inhibition rate of tumor cell in As_2O_3 group.Rg3 groap and As_2O_3+Rg3 group was significantly higher than that of normal saline group(P<0.01);inhibition rate of tumor cells of As_2O_3+Rg3 group was significantly higher than that of the two groups given As_2O_3 or Rg3 alone(P<0.01).The tumor volume of As_2O_3 group,Rg3 group and As_2O_3+Rg3 group shrank to(65.38±3.25)%,(77.68±3.43)%and(42.65±3.55)%of the original,tumor volume of saline group was 1.21 times of the original size(P<0.01);Median survival of saline group,Rg3 group,As_2O_3 group were significantly shorter than that of As_2O_3+Rg3 group(P<0.01);co-ordinated intervention ability of As_2O_3+Rg3 on NCI-H1299 cell was significantly higher than that of As_2O_3 or Rg3,separately.Conclusions:As_2O_3 combined with Rg3 can significantly inhibit prolifaration of NCI-H1299 cells in lung cancer,prolong survival fo tumor-bearing nude mice,and promote tumor cell apoptosis,and have significant effect on lung cancer treatment.Jian-Bo Che Zhong-Hua Liu Hong-Bing Ma Yong Li Hui Zhao Xiao-Hui Li Wei-Chao Liu Gong-Ning Shi 2014Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,10:3

16Optimization of dewatering schemes for a deep foundation pit near the Yangtze River, China显示文摘A deep foundation pit constructed for an underground transportation hub was excavated near the Yangtze River. Among the strata, there are two confined aquifers, between which lies an aquiclude that is partially missing. To guarantee the safety of pit excavation, the piezometric head of the upper confined aquifer, where the pit bottom is located, should be 1 m below the pit bottom, while that of the lower confined aquifer should be dewatered down to a safe water level to avoid uplift problem. The Yangtze River levee is notably close to the pit, and its deformation caused by dewatering should be controlled. A pumping test was performed to obtain the hydraulic conductivity of the upper confined aquifer. The average value of the hydraulic conductivity obtained from analytical calculation is 20.45 m/d, which is larger than the values from numerical simulation(horizontal hydraulic conductivity K_H = 16 m/d and vertical hydraulic conductivity K_V = S m/d). The difference between K_H and K_V indicates the anisotropy of the aquifer. Two dewatering schemes were designed for the construction and simulated by the numerical models for comparison purposes. The results show that though the first scheme could meet the dewatering requirements, the largest accumulated settlement and differential settlement would be94.64 mm and 3.3‰, respectively, greatly exceeding the limited values. 18Radiomics signature:A potential biomarker forβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation prediction in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘BACKGROUND The phosphorylation status ofβ-arrestin1 influences its function as a signal strongly related to sorafenib resistance.This retrospective study aimed to develop and validate radiomics-based models for predictingβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)using whole-lesion radiomics and visual imaging features on preoperative contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)images.AIM To develop and validate radiomics-based models for predictingβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation in HCC using radiomics with contrast-enhanced CT.METHODS Ninety-nine HCC patients(training cohort:n=69;validation cohort:n=30)receiving systemic sorafenib treatment after surgery were enrolled in this retrospective study.Three-dimensional whole-lesion regions of interest were manually delineated along the tumor margins on portal venous CT images.Radiomics features were generated and selected to build a radiomics score using logistic regression analysis.Imaging features were evaluated by two radiologists independently.All these features were combined to establish clinico-radiological(CR)and clinico-radiological-radiomics(CRR)models by using multivariable logistic regression analysis.The diagnostic performance and clinical usefulness of the models were measured by receiver operating characteristic and decision curves,and the area under the curve(AUC)was determined.Their association with prognosis was evaluated using the Kaplan-Meier method.RESULTS Four radiomics features were selected to construct the radiomics score.In the multivariate analysis,alanine aminotransferase level,tumor size and tumor margin on portal venous phase images were found to be significant independent factors for predictingβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation-positive HCC and were included in the CR model.The CRR model integrating the radiomics score with clinico-radiological risk factors showed better discriminative performance(AUC=0.898,95%CI,0.820 to 0.977)than the CR model(AUC=0.794,95%CI,0.686 to 0.901;P=0.011),with increased clinical usefulness confirmed in both the training and validation cohorts using decision curve analysis.The risk ofβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation predicted by the CRR model was significantly associated with overall survival in the training and validation cohorts(log-rank test,P<0.05).CONCLUSION The radiomics signature is a reliable tool for evaluatingβ-arrestin1 phosphorylation which has prognostic significance for HCC patients,providing the potential to better identify patients who would benefit from sorafenib treatment.Feng Che Qing Xu Qian Li Zi-Xing Huang Cai-Wei Yang Li Ye Wang Yi Wei Yu-Jun Shi Bin Song 2022World Journal of Gastroenterology2022,28,14:3
19Effects of salt-alkali stress on active oxygen metabolism in roots of Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Mound' and Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Flame'显示文摘Under artificially-simulated complex salt-alkali stress, the levels of active oxygen metabolism in roots were studied using three-year-old cutting seedlings of Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Mound' and Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Flame'. The present study aimed at exploring the antioxidant capacity in roots of spiraeas and revealing their adaptability to salt-alkali stress. Results indicate that the oxygen free radicals contents, electrolyte leakage rates and MDA contents in roots of Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Mound' and Spiraea × bumalda 'Gold Flame' show an increasing tendency with the increases of the salinity and pH value, whereas the activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) all increased firstly and then decreased. 20A novel derivative of valepotriate inhibits the PI3K/AKT pathway and causes Noxa-dependent apoptosis in human pancreatic cancer cells显示文摘Natural compound valepotriate exhibits inhibitory activity against a number of cancers,but the effect of valepotdriate against pancreatic cancer is unclear,and the structure-activity relationship of valepotriate has not been characterized:In this study,we performed a structure-based similarity search and found 16 hit compounds.Among the 16 hits,(1S,6S,7R)-6-(acetyloxy)-1-[(3-methylbutanoyl)oxy]-4a,5,6,7a-tetrahydro-1H-spiro[cyclopenta[c]pyran-7,2'-oxiran]-4-ylmethyl 3-methylbutanoate(denoted as Amcp)exhibited superior anticancer activity against human pancreatic cancer BxPC-3 and SW1990 cells.The anti-proliferation activity of Amcp was validated in human pancreatic cancer BxPC-3 and SW1990 cells in vitro.Amcp more effectively induced apoptosis in BxPC-3 and SW1990 cells than gemcitabine.At a concentration of 15μM,Amcp Significantly suppressed the PI3K/AKT pathway and disrupted the mitochondrial membrane equilibrium through modulation of Noxa and Mcl-1 balance in both cell lines.Meanwhile,knockdown of Noxa substantially attenuated Amcp-induced reduction of cell viability and anti-apoptotic protein Mcl-1 level in BxPC-3 cells.In addition,Amcp showed synergistic anticancer effects when combined with gemcitabine in BxPC-3 cells.To conclude,this work not only suggests that Amcp possesses a dual-inhibitory activity towards PI3K/AKT pathway and Mcl-1,but also enlightens further development of bioactive valepotriate derivatives.You-you Yan Ke-yu Shi Fei Teng Jing Chen Jin-xin Che Xiao-wu Dong Neng-ming Lin Bo Zhang 2020Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2020,41,6:2
