| 2 | New eolian red clay sequence on the western Chinese Loess Plateau linked to onset of Asian desertification about 25 Ma ago显示文摘The expansion of inland Asia deserts has considerably influenced the environmental, social and economic activities in Asia. Aridification of inland Asia, especially timing of the initiation of Asian desertification, is a contentious topic in paleoclimatology. Late Cenozoic eolian loess-red clay sequences on the Chinese Loess Plateau, which possess abundant paleoclimatic and paleo-environmental information, can be regarded as an indicator of inland Asia desertification. Here we present a detailed magnetostratigraphic investigation of a new red clay sequence about 654 m in Zhuanglang located at the western Chinese Loess Plateau. Sedimentological, geochemical, mineralogical, and quartz morphological lines of evidence show that the red clay is of eolian origin. Magnetostratigraphic correlations indicate that this core sequence spans from 25.6 to 4.8 Ma, and typical eolian red clay appears as early as 25 Ma. This extends the lower limit of the red clay on the Chinese Loess Plateau from the previously thought early Miocene back into the late Oligocene. This new red clay record further implies that the inland Asia desertification was initiated at least by the late Oligocene. The CFD analysis by solving Navier-Stokes equations is coupled with optimization calculation based on the multi-objective genetic algorithm, meanwhile the arbitrary shape deformation technique (ASD) is also introduced into the design flow, which greatly shortens the time consumption for geometry regeneration and flow field remeshing. As a result, the efficiency of the optimization calculation is highly improved. Statistical analysis is done to the designs in the design space, and the correlation between the design variables and the objective is studied to find out the key variables that most affect the objective. Response surface analysis is also performed to get the nonlinear relationship between the key design variables and the objective with the Kriging algorithm. An overall research on stable Hydrogen and Oxygen isotopes in precipitation over Eastern Monsoon China could benefit a comprehensive understanding of the monsoonal precipitation mechanism. Seventeen field stations of the Chinese Network of Isotopes in Precipitation (CHNIP) have been selected to collect monthly composite precipitation samples during the years 2005―2006. Components of δ D and δ 18O have been analyzed to achieve the spatiotemporal distributions. The established Local Meteoric Water Line δ D=7.46δ 18O+0.90 based on the 274 obtained monthly samples could be treated as isotope input functions across the region, due to basically reflecting the specific regional meteorological conditions over Eastern Monsoon China. The δ-value depleted from coastal to inner area. In Southern China and Northeastern China there were typical periodic patterns of δ18O. Different dominant affecting metrological factors have been raised with different regions. From south to north, the temperature effect of δ18O enhanced, while the amount effect changed from existing at an all-year-scale in Southern China to being only remarkable during the main rainy seasons in North China and Northeastern China. Main geographical controls varied from altitude in Southern China and North China to latitude in Northeastern China. | 10 | Risk factors of infected pancreatic necrosis secondary to severe acute pancreatitis显示文摘BACKGROUND: Severe acute pancreatitis(SAP) remains a clinical challenge with considerable morbidity and mortality.An early identification of infected pancreatic necrosis(IPN), a life-threatening evolution secondary to SAP, is obliged for a more preferable prognosis. Thus, the present study was conducted to identify the risk factors of IPN secondary to SAP. METHODS: The clinical data of patients with SAP were retrospectively analyzed. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were sequentially performed to assess the associations between the variables and the development of IPN secondary to SAP. A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was created for each of the qualified independent risk factors. RESULTS: Of the 115 eligible patients, 39(33.9%) progressed to IPN, and the overall in-hospital mortality was 11.3%(13/115).The early enteral nutrition(EEN)(P=0.0092, OR=0.264), maximum intra-abdominal pressure(IAP)(P=0.0398, OR=1.131)and maximum D-dimer level(P=0.0001, OR=1.006) in the first three consecutive days were independent risk factors associated with IPN secondary to SAP. The area under ROC curve(AUC) was 0.774 for the maximum D-dimer level in the first three consecutive days and the sensitivity was 90% and the specificity was 58% at a cut-off value of 933.5 μg/L; the AUC was 0.831 for the maximum IAP in the first three consecutive days and the sensitivity was 95% and specificity was 58%at a cut-off value of 13.5 mm Hg. | 12 | Incidence and mortality of cervical cancer in China,2013显示文摘Objective: Estimating the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer became necessary to establish prevention measures and healthy policies.The aim of this study was to estimate the updated incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer in 2013 in China.Methods: According to the evaluation criteria developed by the National Central Cancer Registry of China,the data submitted from 255 cancer registries met the required standards in 2013.Cervical cancer cases were retrieved from the national database and combined with the 2013 national population data.The age-standardized incidence and mortality rates were based on the demographic structure of the national census 2000 and Segi's world population.Results: In 2013,the estimated number of new cases and deaths from cervical cancer were 100,700 and 26,400,respectively.The crude incidence of cervical cancer was 15.17/100,000.The age-standardized incidence rates based on the Chinese standard population(ASIRC) and the world standard population(ASIRW) were 11.30/100,000 and10.30/100,000,respectively.The incidence of cervical cancer in urban areas was 15.62/100,000 and the ASIRC was11.12/100,000.The incidence of cervical cancer in rural areas was 14.65/100,000 and the ASIRC was11.47/100,000.The mortality rate of cervical cancer was 3.98/100,000.The age-standardized mortality rates based on the Chinese(ASMRC) and world standard populations(ASMRW) were 2.76/100,000 and 2.62/100,000,respectively.The mortality rate of cervical cancer in urban areas was 3.85/100,000 and in rural areas was4.14/100,000.Cervical cancer incidence and mortality increased with age.Urban areas had a higher incidence of cervical cancer and lower mortality rates when compared with rural areas.Conclusions: Dynamic monitoring of cervical cancer incidence and mortality is the fundamental work of cervical cancer prevention and control.Cervical cancer is a serious issue in women's health,and prevention strategies need to be enhanced,such as human papilloma virus(HPV) vaccination and screening programs. | Bingbing Song Chao Ding Wangyang Chen Huixin Sun Maoxiang Zhang Wanqing Chen | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2017,29,6: | 35 |

| 15 | Marsdenia tenacissima extract induces G_0/G_1 cell cycle arrest in human esophageal carcinoma cells by inhibiting mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) signaling pathway显示文摘Marsdenia tenacissima extract(MTE, trade name: Xiao-Ai-Ping injection) is an extract of a single Chinese plant medicine. It has been used for the treatment of cancer in China for decades, especially for esophageal cancer and other cancers in the digestive tract. In the present study, the potential mechanism for MTE's activity in esophageal cancer was explored. The effects of MTE on the proliferation of human esophageal cancer cells(KYSE150 and Eca-109) were investigated by the MTT assay, the Brd U(bromodeoxyuridine) incorporation immunofluorescence assay, and flow cytometric analysis. MTE inhibited cell proliferation through inducing G0/G1 cell cycle arrest in KYSE150 and Eca-109. Western blot analysis was employed to determine protein levels in the MTE treated cells. Compared with the control cells, the expression levels of the cell cycle regulatory proteins cyclin D1/D2/D3, cyclin E1, CDK2/4/6(CDK: cyclin dependent kinase), and p-Rb were decreased significantly in the cells treated with MTE at 40 mg·m L-1. In addition, MTE had an inhibitory effect on the MAPK(mitogen-activated protein kinase) signal transduction pathway, including ERK(extracellular signal-regulated kinase), JNK(c-Jun N-terminal kinase), and p38 MAPK. Moreover, MTE showed little additional effects on the regulation of cyclin D1/D3, CDK4/6, and p-Rb when the ERK pathway was already inhibited by the specific ERK inhibitor U0126. | 17 | Variability and reduction of atmospheric pollutants in Beijing and its surrounding area during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games显示文摘The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Atmospheric Environment Monitoring Network was established by the Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences.The goals of the network were to monitor and provide warnings of the atmospheric quality in Beijing and its surrounding area during the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.The results showed that the atmospheric complex pollution exhibited high concentrations of ozone and fine particles and oxidation in summer,with a ubiquitous regional source.The regional mean concentrations of SO2,PM2.5,NO2,and O3_8h max(the maximum daily 8 h mean) and Ox were 22±11,90±40,25±5,136±35 and 112±21 μg/m3 in summer,respectively.During the Olympic Games,the mean concentration of SO2,PM2.5,NO2,O3_8h max,and Ox were 12.5±4,56±28,23±4,114±29,95±17 μg/m3 in the region,respectively,and fell by 51.0%,43.7%,13%,20.2%,and 18.9%,respectively,compared to the prophase mean before the Olympic Games.The concentration of atmospheric pollutants declined significantly and achieved the 'Green Olympics' control goal of air quality.After the Olympic Games,SO2,PM2.5 and NOx increased significantly as the temporary atmospheric pollution control measures were terminated. | XIN JinYuan WANG YueSi TANG GuiQian WANG LiLi SUN Yang WANG YingHong HU Bo SONG Tao JI DongSheng WANG WeiFeng LI Liang LIU GuangRen | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,18: | 30 |

| 19 | Three dimensional shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath China from ambient noise surface wave tomography显示文摘We determine the three-dimensional shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle in China using Green's functions obtained from seismic ambient noise cross-correlation.The data we use are from the China National Seismic Network,global and regional networks and PASSCAL stations in the region.We first acquire cross-correlation seismograms between all possible station pairs.We then measure the Rayleigh wave group and phase dispersion curves using a frequency-time analysis method from 8 s to 60 s.After that,Rayleigh wave group and phase velocity dispersion maps on 1° by 1° spatial grids are obtained at different periods.Finally,we invert these maps for the 3-D shear wave velocity structure of the crust and upper mantle beneath China at each grid node.The inversion results show large-scale structures that correlate well with surface geology.Near the surface,velocities in major basins are anomalously slow,consistent with the thick sediments.East-west contrasts are striking in Moho depth.There is also a fast mid-to-lower crust and mantle lithosphere beneath the major basins surrounding the Tibetan plateau (TP) and Tianshan (Junggar,Tarim,Ordos,and Sichuan).These strong blocks,therefore,appear to play an important role in confining the deformation of the TP and constraining its geometry to form its current triangular shape.In northwest TP in Qiangtang,slow anomalies extend from the crust to the mantle lithosphere.Meanwhile,widespread,a prominent low-velocity zone is observed in the middle crust beneath most of the central,eastern and southeastern Tibetan plateau,consistent with a weak (and perhaps mobile) middle crust. | Xinlei Sun Xiaodong Song Sihua Zheng Yingjie Yang Michael H.
