| 2 | Chemical and optical properties of aerosols and their interrelationship in winter in the megacity Shanghai of China显示文摘A field campaign on air quality was carried out in Shanghai in winter of 2012. The concentrations of NO, NO2, NOx, SO2, CO, and PM2.5increased during haze formation. The average masses of SO42-, NO3-and NH4+were 10.3, 11.7 and 6.7 μg/m3 during the haze episodes, which exceeded the average(9.2, 7.9, and 3.4 μg/m3) of these components in the non-haze days. The mean values for the aerosol scattering coefficient(b sp), aerosol absorption coefficient(b ap) and single scattering albedo(SSA) were 288.7, 27.7 and0.91 Mm-1, respectively. A bi-peak distribution was observed for the mass concentrations of CO, NO, NO2, and NOx. More sulfate was produced during daytime than that in the evening due to photochemical reactions. The mass concentration of NH4+achieved a small peak at noontime. NO3-showed lower concentrations in the afternoon and higher concentrations in the early morning. There were obvious bi-peak diurnal patterns for b sp and b ap as well as SSA. b sp and b ap showed a positive correlation with PM2.5mass concentration.(NH4)2SO4, NH4NO3, organic mass, elemental carbon and coarse mass accounted for 21.7%, 19.3%, 31.0%, 9.3% and 12.3% of the total extinction coefficient during non-haze days, and 25.6%, 24.3%, 30.1%, 8.1% and 8.2% during hazy days. Organic matter was the largest contributor to light extinction. | 4 | mRNA enrichment protocols determine the quantification characteristics of external RNA spike-in controls in RNA-Seq studies显示文摘RNA-Seq promises to be used in clinical settings as a gene-expression profiling tool;however,questions about its variability and biases remain and need to be addressed.Thus,RNA controls with known concentrations and sequence identities originally developed by the External RNA Control Consortium(ERCC) for microarray and qPCR platforms have recently been proposed for RNA-Seq platforms,but only with a limited number of samples.In this study,we report our analysis of RNA-Seq data from 92 ERCC controls spiked in a diverse collection of 447 RNA samples from eight ongoing studies involving five species(human,rat,mouse,chicken,and Schistosoma japonicum) and two mRNA enrichment protocols,i.e.,poly(A) and RiboZero.The entire collection of datasets consisted of 15650143175 short sequence reads,131603796(i.e.,0.84%) of which were mapped to the 92 ERCC references.The overall ERCC mapping ratio of 0.84% is close to the expected value of 1.0% when assuming a 2.0% mRNA fraction in total RNA,but showed a difference of 2.8-fold across studies and 4.3-fold among samples from the same study with one tissue type.This level of fluctuation may prevent the ERCC controls from being used for cross-sample normalization in RNA-Seq.Furthermore,we observed striking biases of quantification between poly(A) and RiboZero which are transcript-specific.For example,ERCC-00116 showed a 7.3-fold under-enrichment in poly(A) compared to RiboZero.Extra care is needed in integrative analysis of multiple datasets and technical artifacts of protocol differences should not be taken as true biological findings. | QING Tao YU Ying DU TingTing SHI LeMing | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 4 |
| 5 | The role of China's terrestrial carbon sequestration 2010-2060 in offsetting energy-related CO_(2) emissions显示文摘Energy consumption dominates annual CO_(2) emissions in China.It is essential to significantly reduce CO_(2) emissions from energy consumption to reach national carbon neutrality by 2060,while the role of terrestrial carbon sequestration in offsetting energy-related CO_(2) emissions cannot be underestimated.Natural climate solutions(NCS),including improvements in terrestrial carbon sequestration,represent readily deployable options to offset anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.However,the extent to which China’s terrestrial carbon sequestration in the future,especially when target-oriented managements(TOMs)are implemented,can help to mitigate energy-related CO_(2) emissions is far from certain.By synthesizing available findings and using several parameter-sparse empirical models that have been calibrated and/or fitted against contemporary measurements,we assessed China’s terrestrial carbon sequestration over 2010-2060 and its contribution to offsetting national energy-related CO_(2) emissions.We show that terrestrial C sequestration in China will increase from 0.375±0.056(mean±standard deviation)Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s to 0.458±0.100 Pg C yr^(-1)under RCP2.6 and 0.493±0.108 Pg C yr^(-1) under the RCP4.5 scenario in the 2050s,when TOMs are implemented.The majority of carbon sequestration comes from forest,accounting for 67.8-71.4%of the total amount.China’s terrestrial ecosystems can offset 12.2-15.0%and 13.4-17.8%of energy-related peak CO_(2) emissions in 2030 and 2060,respectively.The implementation of TOMs contributes 11.9%of the overall terrestrial carbon sequestration in the 2020s and 23.7%in the 2050s.The most likely strategy to maximize future NCS effectiveness is a full implementation of all applicable cost-effective NCS pathways in China.Our findings highlight the role of terrestrial carbon sequestration in offsetting energy-related CO_(2) emissions and put forward future needs in the context of carbon neutrality. | Yao Huang Wenjuan Sun Zhangcai Qin Wen Zhang Yongqiang Yu Tingting Li Qing Zhang Guocheng Wang Lingfei Yu Yijie Wang Fan Ding Ping Zhang | 2022 | National Science Review2022,9,8: | 4 |

| 7 | Wet spinning of fiber-shaped flexible Zn-ion batteries toward wearable energy storage显示文摘High-performance flexible one-dimensional(1D)electrochemical energy storage devices are crucial for the applications of wearable electronics.Although much progress on various 1D energy storage devices has been made,challenges involving fabrication cost,scalability,and efficiency remain.Herein,a highperformance flexible all-fiber zinc-ion battery(ZIB)is fabricated using a low-cost,scalable,and efficient continuous wet-spinning method.Viscous composite inks containing cellulose nanofibers/carbon nanotubes(CNFs/CNTs)binary composite network and either manganese dioxide nanowires(MnO_(2) NWs)or commercial Zn powders are utilized to spinning fiber cathodes and anodes,respectively.MnO_(2) NWs and Zn powders are uniformly dispersed in the interpenetrated CNFs/CNTs fibrous network,leading to homogenous composite inks with an ideal shear-thinning property.The obtained fiber electrodes demonstrate favorable uniformity and flexibility.Benefiting from the well-designed electrodes,the assembled flexible fiber-shaped ZIB delivers a high specific capacity of 281.5 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.25 A g^(-1) and displays excellent cycling stability over 400 cycles.Moreover,the wet-spun fiber-shaped ZIBs achieve ultrahigh gravimetric and volumetric energy densities of 47.3 Wh kg^(-1) and 131.3 m Wh cm^(-3),respectively,based on both cathode and anode and maintain favorable stability even after 4000 bending cycles.This work offers a new concept design of 1D flexible ZIBs that can be potentially incorporated into commercial textiles for wearable and portable electronics. | Tingting Gao Guangyuan Yan Xin Yang Qing Yan Yankuan Tian Jianwei Song Faxue Li Xueli Wang Jianyong Yu Yiju Li Shaojun Guo | 2022 | Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,8: | 3 |

| 13 | Distribution and Speciation of Chromium and Cadmium in an Organic and Inorganic Fertilized Chernozem显示文摘Fertilizers are widely applied in agricultural practice to improve crop yield and quality.However, they can also alter the behavior of soil pollutants.A field experiment was conducted on a chernozem in Heilongjiang Province, China.Various proportions of inorganic nitrogen(N), phosphorus(P), and organic(manure) fertilizers were applied.Soil samples were collected four times over 2 years, and the total concentrations and speciation of chromium(Cr) and cadmium(Cd) were analyzed.Inorganic fertilizer addition had little effect on the total concentration of Cr and Cd, while organic fertilizer addition reduced the total concentrations of both Cr and Cd.Inorganic fertilizers increased the concentration of Cr in the exchangeable form, but decreased that of the residual form(P < 0.05).Addition of inorganic or organic fertilizer alone decreased concentrations of exchangeable Cd(P < 0.05), but the combination of inorganic and organic fertilizers had the opposite effect.High concentration of total Cd exceeding the upper limits of the Environmental Quality Standard for Soils proposed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of China could result in an environmental risk, and fertilizer application could lower that risk.Results of risk assessment code calculated as the percentage of the sum of metal concentrations in the exchangeable and carbonate-associated form in total metal concentration showed that Cr and Cd risks were lowered when organic fertilizer was applied alone or in combination with inorganic fertilizers.Our study highlighted that organic fertilizer should be applied alone or in combination with inorganic fertilizers to lower the environmental risks of Cr and Cd pollution in the chernozem. | LIU Borui HUANG Qing CAI Huajie GUO Xiang WANG Tingting GUI Mingying | 2017 | Pedosphere2017,27,6: | 1 |
| 14 | Performance of CH4MOD_(wetland) for the case study of different regions of natural Chinese wetland显示文摘Reliable national estimates of CH_4 emissions from natural wetlands depend on model validation based on site observations.We therefore evaluated the performance of the CH_4 MODwetlandmodel in simulating CH_4 emissions from 11 representative wetland sites in five regions of China.Model performance analysis showed that this method effectively simulates differences in the CH_4 fluxes between different sites and regions.The model efficiency for estimating the daily CH_4 fluxes in the northeastern China(NE),Inner Mongolia and northwestern China(NW),the North China plain and the Middle-Lower Yangtze Plain(E) and the Qinghai Tibetan Plateau(SW) was 0.51,0.20,0.52 and 0.65,respectively.The efficiency for estimating the annual mean CH_4 fluxes in southern China(S) was 0.99.Systematic negative deviation between the simulated and observed CH_4 emissions existed in all regions,especially in the NW region,which had a mean deviation(RMD) value of-36.7%.On the national scale,the root mean square error(RMSE),the RMD,the model efficiency(EF)between the simulated and observed seasonal values were 28.7%,-7.8% and 0.93,respectively.The CH_4 emissions showed the highest sensitivity to air temperature in the NE and SW regions,and to water table depth in the E region.Based on the sensitivity analysis,future climate warming and wetting are likely to increase the wetland CH_4 emissions at different levels in all regions of China. | Tingting Li Qing Zhang Zhigang Cheng Guocheng Wang Lijun Yu Wen Zhang | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7: | 1 |

| 16 | Spiro-fused bicyclo[3,2,2]octatriene-cored triptycene:synthesis,molecular packing,and functional aggregates显示文摘Aggregate science has led to the existence of functional properties at the aggregate level that significantly differs from those of corresponding single-molecule species,leading to a number of novel conceptual materials with state-dependent functionality.For developing such materials,new molecular scaffolds that allow modulating the structural and functional properties of aggregates in a controlled manner could be extremely helpful.In this study,we report a class of spiro-fused bicyclo[3,2,2]octatriene triptycene derivatives with a unique 3 D molecular scaffolding structure that displays aggregation-induced emission(AIE)activity with bright solid-state blue luminescence.The core scaffold features a Y-shaped bicyclo[3,2,2]octatriene backbone and a vertical crossover arrangement of adjacent spiro-conjugated rings.Unlike classic bicyclo[2,2,2]octatrienes with high rigidity,this stereoscopic bicyclo[3,2,2]octatriene containing a seven-membered ring allows retaining certain flexibility in the molecular scaffold,which results in a weak fluorescence in dilute solutions(Φ_(F)<10%).However,the corresponding molecular aggregates emit intense fluorescence(Φ_(F)=50%-75%)and show prominent AIE activity because of the restriction of intramolecular scaffold motions.Moreover,in principle,these stereoscopic scaffold constructions with partially restricted flexibility facilitate the assembly of multiple different crystalline packing structures in both porous and nonporous forms depending on the growth conditions of crystalline aggregates.The obtained crystals with regular voids(12.85×6.89Aeach)show reversible luminescence in response to the adsorption/desorption of iodine vapor.These materials based on an unusual 3 D scaffold exhibit a high degree of structural modulation at the aggregate level and demonstrate potential applications in chemical sensing and flexible optoelectronics,which may open up the exploration of highly stereoscopic molecular building blocks for developing functional aggregates. | Qing Liu Xian Chen Zhibiao Zhou Tingting Huang Yanpei Wang Sheng Xie Zebing Zeng Ben Zhong Tang | 2021 | Science China Chemistry2021,64,11: | 1 |

| 20 | Vagus nerve stimulation protects against cerebral injury after cardiopulmonary resuscitation by inhibiting inflammation through the TLR4/NF-κB and α7nAChR/JAK2 signaling pathways显示文摘BACKGROUND: Our previous research proved that vagus nerve stimulation(VNS) improved the neurological outcome after cardiopulmonary resuscitation(CPR) by activating α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor(α7nAChR) in a rat model, but the underlying mechanism of VNS in neuroprotection after CPR remains unclear.METHODS: In vivo, we established a mouse model of cardiac arrest(CA)/CPR to observe the survival rate, and the changes in inflammatory factors and brain tissue after VNS treatment. In vitro, we examined the effects of α7nAChR agonist on ischemia/reperfusion(I/R)-induced inflammation in BV2 cells under oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation(OGD/R) conditions. We observed the changes in cell survival rate, the levels of inflammatory factors, and the expressions of α7nAChR/Janus kinase 2(JAK2) and toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)/nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB).RESULTS: In vivo, VNS preconditioning enhanced functional recovery, improved the survival rate, and reduced hippocampal CA1 cell damage, and the levels of inflammatory mediators after CA/CPR. The application of α7nAChR agonists provided similar effects against cerebral injury after the return of spontaneous circulation(ROSC), while α7nAChR antagonists reversed these neuroprotective impacts. The in vitro results mostly matched the findings in vivo. OGD/R increased the expression of tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α), TLR4 and NF-κB p65. When nicotine was added to the OGD/R model, the expression of TLR4, NF-κB p65, and TNF-α decreased, while the phosphorylation of JAK2 increased, which was prevented by preconditioning with α7nAChR or JAK2 antagonists.CONCLUSION: The neuroprotective effect of VNS correlated with the activation of α7nAChR.
