1Changes of protein oxidation,lipid oxidation and lipolysis in Chinese dry sausage with different sodium chloride curing salt content显示文摘The effect of sodium chloride(NaCl)curing salt content on protein oxidation,lipid oxidation and lipolysis of Chinese dry sausage was investigated.Two groups Chinese dry sausages with 2%and 4%(m/m)salt content were studied.The degree of protein oxidation increased during the processes in two groups sausages,while the content of phospholipids decreased,neutral lipids and free fatty acids increased.The degree of protein oxidation,lipid oxidation and lipolysis in 4%NaCl content group was higher than those in 2%NaCl content group,while 4%NaCl content group has higher lipase activity.In conclusion,4%NaCl may facilitate the protein oxidation,lipid hydrolysis and oxidation in Chinese dry sausage,and the protein oxidation had strong correlation with lipid oxidation and lipolysis.The results could provide a basis for improving the technology of industrial production.Bing Zhao Huimin Zhou Shunliang Zhang Xiaoqian Pan Su Li Ning Zhu Qianrong Wu Shouwei Wang Xiaoling Qiao Wenhua Chen 2020Food Science and Human Wellness2020,9,4:22
2A green method to synthesize flowerlike Fe(OH)3 microspheres for enhanced adsorption performance toward organic and heavy metal pollutants显示文摘Dyestuffs and heavy metal ions in water are seriously harmful to the ecological environment and human health.Three-dimensional(3 D) flowerlike Fe(OH)_3 microspheres were synthesized through a green yet low-cost injection method,for the removal of organic dyes and heavy metal ions.The Fe(OH)_3 microspheres were characterized by thermal gravimetric analysis(TGA),Fourier transform infrared(FT-IR),and transmission electron microscopy(TEM) techniques.The adsorption kinetics of Congo Red(CR) on Fe(OH)_3 microspheres obeyed the pseudo-second-order model.Cr^(6+) and Pb^(2+) adsorption behaviors on Fe(OH)_3 microspheres followed the Langmuir isotherm model.The maximum adsorption capacities of the synthesized Fe(OH)_3 were 308,52.94,and 75.64 mg/g for CR,Cr^(6+),and Pb^(2+) respectively.The enhanced adsorption performance originated from its surface properties and large specific surface area of 250 m^2/g.The microspheres also have excellent adsorption stability and recyclability.Another merit of the Fe(OH)_3 material is that it also acts as a Fenton-like catalyst.These twin functionalities(both as adsorbent and Fenton-like catalyst) give the synthesized Fe(OH)_3 microspheres great potential in the field of water treatment.Xiaole Zhao Yingehun Su Shubin Li Yajun Bi Xiaojun Han 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,11:7
3The Effects of Microwave Ablation and Surgical Resection on Hematogenous Dissemination of Cancer Cells in Treating Patients with Small Primary Hepatocellular Carcinoma显示文摘OBJECTIVE To conduct a comparative study of the effects of treatment using microwave ablation versus surgical resection on hematogenous dissemination of cancer cells, and on the level of immune cells of the peripheral blood in patients with small primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC,≤5 cm). METHODS Forty patients with small PHC (maximal diameter≤5 cm) were divided into a microwave group (19 cases) and a surgical operation group (21 cases). A real-time (RT) quantitative nested RT-PCR examination was performed for peripheral blood alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) mRNA. Studies were conducted to determine the level of CD3, CD4, CD8 and CD4/CD8 cells and for liver function at 30 min before, and 30 min,1 day and 3 days after the treatment. RESULTS Compared to the value before ablation, no obvious changes of CD3, CD4, CD8 and CD4/CD8 cells were found in patients of the microwave group within 7 days after ablation, but CD3, CD4 and CD4/CD8 cells in the operation group were lower compared to that before operation. The copy number of AFP mRNA in the peripheral blood samples of the patients of the 2 groups before operation was determined in 67.5% of the patients (27/40). There was an rise in the expression after treatment but no statistical difference was found in comparing the 2 groups. Follow-up of the patients was conducted for 1 to 16 months. For patients with continuous expression of peripheral blood AFP mRNA, the possibility of relapse and metastasis was increased. CONCLUSION Surgical resection or microwave ablation can cause more exfoliation of hepatoma carcinoma cells in the peripheral blood of patients with small PHC. The immune function of peripheral blood cells decreased in the patients after surgical resection, however, the immune function was better protected following microwave ablation. 5Development of volatiles and odor-active compounds in Chinese dry sausage at different stages of process and storage显示文摘The effect of process and storage on the volatiles and odorant profi le of Chinese dry sausage was evaluated,as well as its physicochemical parameters.Microbial esterification and wine(27.54%–43.35%),and lipid oxidation(11.30%–34.92%)played a key role in flavor profile during process and storage.A significant increase of each volatile was detected during process except gradual decrease of volatiles from spices,while a gradual decrease of each volatile was detected during storage except signifi cant increase of volatiles from lipid oxidation and esterifi cation.15 and 6 odor-active compounds were respectively correlated(P<0.05)with the process and storage time.Level of heptanal,1-octen-3-ol,the ethyl of 2-methylbutanoic,3-methylbutanoic,butanoic,benzoic,hexanoic,heptanoic,octanoic and decanoic acid were best discriminators of process stage,while(E)-2-nonenal,ethyl hexanoate,ethyl heptanoate,and methyl decanoate,were marker compounds of storage time.An objective method was established to evaluate the stages of process and storage for samples.Huimin Zhou Bing Zhao Shunliang Zhang Qianrong Wu Ning Zhu Su Li Xiaoqian Pan Shouwei Wang Xiaoling Qiao 2021Food Science and Human Wellness2021,10,3:4

16Therapeutic effect of Jianpi Liqi Fang(健脾理气方)combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma and spleen deficiency syndrome显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the therapeutic effect of the Jianpi Liqi Fang(健脾理气方,JPLQF)combined with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)and spleen deficiency syndrome(SDS)and identify a potential indicator of efficacy.METHODS:Ninety-nine patients with HCC who were diagnosed with SDS,non-spleen deficiency syndrome(NSDS),or no syndrome(NS)were treated with JPLQF combined with TACE for three periods.Therapeutic efficacy was compared among the groups.Plasma proteins were screened using label-free discovery analysis and verified via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Furthermore,receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curves were analyzed to evaluate therapeutic indicators.RESULTS:After treatment,the Karnofsky Performance Status was significantly improved in the SDS group and significantly better than that in the NS group.The Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)syndrome scores were lower in the SDS group after treatment and lower than those in the NSDS group.However,alanine aminotransferase,carbohydrate antigen 19-9,alpha-fetoprotein,and carcinoembryonic antigen levels and white blood cell and platelet counts did not differ among the groups.Serum aspartate aminotransferase levels in the SDS group were significantly lower after treatment than before treatment,and total bilirubin levels were significantly lower in the SDS group than in the NSDS group.Label-free analysis identified 24 differentially expressed proteins(DEPs)between the SDS and NS groups,including 17 and 7 upregulated and downregulated proteins,respectively.Fibulin-5(FBLN5)displayed the largest difference in expression between the groups.ELISA confirmed that FBLN5 levels were significantly lower in the NSDS and NS groups than in the SDS group.Following treatment with JPLQF and TACE,FBLN5 expression was upregulated only in the SDS group.Furthermore,ROC curve analysis indicated that FBLN5 may serve as a potential indicator of the efficacy of JPLQF combined with TACE in patients with HCC and SDS.CONCLUSION:JPLQF combined with TACE improved quality of life,clinical TCM symptoms,and liver function in patients with HCC and SDS.FBLN5 expression was significantly altered by treatment with JPLQF and TACE in patients with HCC and SDS.CHEN Xiaole WANG Peng MENG Zhiqiang YANG Mengdie ZHOU Wenjun SU Shibing CHEN Jian 2021Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,1:1

19Mass Spectrometry Analysis of SARS-CoV-2 Nucleocapsid Protein Reveals Camouflaging Glycans and Unique Post-Translational Modifications显示文摘The devastating coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic has prompted worldwide efforts to study structural biological traits of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)and its viral components.Compared to the Spike protein,which is the primary target for currently available vaccines or antibodies,knowledge about other virion structural components is incomplete.Using high-resolution mass spectrometry,we report a comprehensive post-translational modification(PTM)analysis of nucleocapsid phosphoprotein(NCP),the most abundant structural component of the SARS-CoV-2 virion.In addition to phosphoryl groups,we show that the SARS-CoV-2 NCP is decorated with a variety of PTMs,including N-glycans and ubiquitin.Based on newly identified PTMs,refined protein structural models of SARS-CoV-2 NCP were proposed and potential immune recognition epitopes of NCP were aligned with PTMs.These data can facilitate the design of novel vaccines or therapeutics targeting NCP,as valuable alternatives to the current vaccination and treatment paradigm that is under threat of the ever-mutating SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein.Zeyu Sun Xiaoqin Zheng Feiyang Ji Menghao Zhou Xiaoling Su Keyi Ren Lanjuan Li 2021Infectious Microbes & Diseases2021,3,3:1
