2Optical observations of LIGO source GW 170817 by the Antarctic Survey Telescopes at Dome A,Antarctica显示文摘The LIGO detection of gravitational waves(GW) from merging black holes in 2015 marked the beginning of a new era in observational astronomy. The detection of an electromagnetic signal from a GW source is the critical next step to explore in detail the physics involved. The Antarctic Survey Telescopes(AST3),located at Dome A, Antarctica, is uniquely situated for rapid response time-domain astronomy with its continuous night-time coverage during the austral winter. We report optical observations of the GW source(GW 170817) in the nearby galaxy NGC 4993 using AST3. The data show a rapidly fading transient at around 1 day after the GW trigger, with the i-band magnitude declining from 17:23 ± 0:13 magnitude to 17:72 ± 0:09 magnitude in ~1:8 h. The brightness and time evolution of the optical transient associated with GW 170817 are broadly consistent with the predictions of models involving merging binary neutron stars. 3Recent advances and emerging trends of rare-earth-ion doped spectral conversion nanomaterials in perovskite solar cells显示文摘Organic-inorganic lead halide based perovskite solar cells(PSCs)have attracted unprecedented research interest over last decade.The high performance,combined with merits of low fabrication costs and ease of synthesis make PSCs promising alternate to state of the art silicon(Si)based solar cells.Howeve r,some inherent shortcomings of PSCs are hindering their market dominance over conventional photovoltaic technologies such as transmission loss of sub-bandgap photons,poor stability and hysteresis effects.Recently,use of rare earth(RE)ions doped nanomaterials in PSCs,has been identified as an effective means to address the aforementioned issues by expanding the range of absorption spectra minimizing the non-absorption loss of solar photons,enhancing light scattering and improving operational stability.This article reviews the recent progress in doping rare-earth(RE)ions in the building blocks of PSCs such as semiconductor electrodes and photoactive perovskite layers,and its use as a separate spectral conversion layer in PSCs.The effect of size,shape,constitution and concentration of RE-nanoparticles on the overall performance and device stability will be analyzed in detail.Moreover,we provide an outlook on the opportunities this newly developed field offers and the critical challenges faced in rationally and effectively using RE-ion-doped nanomaterials in PSCs for better operational stability and enhanced performance.Syed Afaq Ali Shah Muhammad Hassan Sayyad Jinghua Sun Zhongyi Guo 2022Journal of Rare Earths2022,40,11:4

5Design,synthesis and biological evaluation of amino organophosphorus imidazoles as a new type of potential antimicrobial agents显示文摘A series of amino organophosphorus imidazoles were designed and synthesized as a novel structural type of antimicrobial agents.Bioactive evaluation in vitro showed that compound 3f exhibited equipotent or superior anti-methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(anti-MRSA) and anti-S. cerevisiae efficiencies(minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)=2 μg/mL) to clinical drugs,and the combinations with antibacterial or antifungal drugs enhanced the antimicrobial efficiency. Highly active molecule 3f showed low propensity for bacteria to develop resistance, and the preliminary action mechanism studies demonstrated that 3f was membrane-active, but had no significant intercalation towards MRSA DNA. The computational study on 3f reasonably explained its high antimicrobial activity. Experimental data revealed that ground-state 3f-HSA complexes were formed mainly through hydrophobic interactions and hydrogen bonds with a spontaneous process, and the non-radioactive energy transfer from HSA to 3f occurred beyond F鰎ster resonance energy transfer theory. 7Rational Design and Application of an Indolium-Derived Heptamethine Cyanine with Record-Long Second Near-Infrared Emission显示文摘Heptamethine cyanine dyes,typified by indocyanine green,have been extensively employed as bioimaging indicators and theranostic agents.Significant efforts have been made to develop functional heptamethine cyanine dyes with outstanding bioimaging and theranostic utilities.In this work,we rationally designed and successfully developed a novel indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dye by installing indolium-derived polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons on the terminal ends of a conjugated polyene backbone.This dye showed excellent photostability and showed bright fluorescent emission in the second near-infrared(NIR-Ⅱ)window with a peak at approximately 1120 nm.Such long wavelength emission prompted a superior bioimaging resolution in vivo.In particular,this NIR-Ⅱ dye had the remarkable capability of marking the blood vessels of the hindlimbs,abdomens,and brains of mice.More significantly,this dye involved a typical indolium-like heptamethine skeleton and exhibited two strong absorption bands in the 700–1300 nm NIR range,which endowed it with an intrinsic tumor-targeting capability and a high photothermal conversion efficiency(up to 68.2%),serving for the photothermal therapy of tumors under the guidance of NIR-Ⅱ fluorescence imaging.This work provides an efficient design strategy for achieving indolium-like heptamethine cyanine dyes with further NIR-Ⅱ emission.Xiaoxie Ma Yurou Huang Syed Ali Abbas Abedi Heejeong Kim Tan Teck Boon Davin Xiaogang Liu Wen-Chao Yang Yao Sun Sheng Hua Liu Jun Yin Juyoung Yoon Guang-Fu Yang 2022CCS Chemistry2022,4,6:2
8Optical coherence tomography characteristics of responses to intravitreal bevacizumab in idiopathic choroidal neovascularization显示文摘AIM: To investigate factors associated with responses to intravitreal bevacizumab(IVB) in naive idiopathic choroidal neovascularization(i CNV) by high domain optical coherence tomography(OCT).·METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed clinical data of40 eyes of i CNV patients who received a single or multiple IVB on an as-needed basis(1.25 mg/0.05 m L).One month after the first injection, subretinal fluid(SRF)volume was evaluated and the eyes were divided into 3groups based on responses to IVB. Good, moderate, and poor responses were defined as 61%-99%, 30%-60%,and <30% resolution of SRF on OCT after IVB in i CNV,respectively. OCT findings were analyzed to find factors associated with difference in response levels.Comparisons were made using Wilcoxon's matched-pairs signed-rank test, the Mann-Whitney U test for means with continuous data and Fisher's exact test for categorical data.·RESULTS: The mean number of IVB was 1.28±1.50 and mean follow up time was 3.60 ±1.20 mo. At postoperative1 mo, there were 8(20%) eyes in good response, 20(50%)in moderate response and 12(30%) eyes in poor response group and at last visit there were 28 good responders(70%), 8(20%) moderate responders and 4(10%) poor responders. 9The Scorpion Venom Peptide Smp76 Inhibits Viral Infection by Regulating Type-Ⅰ Interferon Response显示文摘Dengue virus(DENV) and Zika virus(ZIKV) have spread throughout many countries in the developing world and infect millions of people every year, causing severe harm to human health and the economy. Unfortunately, there are few effective vaccines and therapies available against these viruses. Therefore, the discovery of new antiviral agents is critical.Herein, a scorpion venom peptide(Smp76) characterized from Scorpio maurus palmatus was successfully expressed and purified in Escherichia coli BL21(DE3). The recombinant Smp76(rSmp76) was found to effectively inhibit DENV and ZIKV infections in a dose-dependent manner in both cultured cell lines and primary mouse macrophages. Interestingly,rSmp76 did not inactivate the viral particles directly but suppressed the established viral infection, similar to the effect of interferon(IFN)-b. Mechanistically, rSmp76 was revealed to upregulate the expression of IFN-b by activating interferon regulatory transcription factor 3(IRF3) phosphorylation, enhancing the type-Ⅰ IFN response and inhibiting viral infection.This mechanism is significantly different from traditional virucidal antimicrobial peptides(AMPs).
