| 1 | Electroacupuncture attenuates neuropathic pain after brachial plexus injury显示文摘Electroacupuncture has traditionally been used to treat pain, but its effect on pain following brachial plexus injury is still unknown. In this study, rat models of an avulsion injury to the left brachial plexus root(associated with upper-limb chronic neuropathic pain) were given electroacupuncture stimulation at bilateral Quchi(LI11), Hegu(LI04), Zusanli(ST36) and Yanglingquan(GB34). After electroacupuncture therapy, chronic neuropathic pain in the rats' upper limbs was significantly attenuated. Immunofluorescence staining showed that the expression of β-endorphins in the arcuate nucleus was significantly increased after therapy. | 2 | China’s intra-and inter-national carbon emission transfers by province:A nested network perspective显示文摘Since China carries an increasingly significant responsibility in carbon emission reduction,a systematic assessment from the multi-scale and multi-regional perspective is essential to examine the region-specific carbon emissions and different kinds of carbon transfer patterns.By identifying carbon emission flows among 31 domestic provincial administrative regions and 184 foreign countries/economies,this work examines the domestic and foreign carbon emission flows of Chinese provinces/municipalities based on the intra-and inter-national relations.Overall,the provinces and municipalities in China are divided into 4 patterns according to carbon emission flows,among which inland provinces mainly engage in domestic carbon emission transfers,western regions generally receive carbon emissions with main carbon outflows in northeastern and central provinces,and coastal regions play an essential role in balancing carbon emission surpluses and deficits between domestic and foreign regions.For different sub-regions in China,recognizing carbon emission transfer relations contributes to the synergetic and sustainable regional development from a tele-connected perspective.With the nested network analysis,the multi-scale and multiregional assessments focusing upon China’s provinces and municipalities extend the existing research to both national and global scales,providing a solid foundation for sustainable regional development in China. | Mengyao HAN Qiuhui YAO Junming LAO Zhipeng TANG Weidong LIU | 2020 | Science China Earth Sciences2020,63,6: | 5 |
| 3 | The Tibetan Plateau Surface–Atmosphere Coupling System and Its Weather and Climate Effects: The Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Science Experiment显示文摘The Tibetan Plateau(TP) is a key area affecting forecasts of weather and climate in China and occurrences of extreme weather and climate events over the world. The China Meteorological Administration, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly initiated the Third Tibetan Plateau Atmospheric Science Experiment(TIPEX-Ⅲ) in 2013, with an 8–10-yr implementation plan. Since its preliminary field measurements conducted in 2013, routine automatic sounding systems have been deployed at Shiquanhe, Gaize, and Shenzha stations in western TP, where no routine sounding observations were available previously. The observational networks for soil temperature and soil moisture in the central and western TP have also been established. Meanwhile, the plateau-scale and regional-scale boundary layer observations, cloud–precipitation microphysical observations with multiple radars and aircraft campaigns, and tropospheric–stratospheric air composition observations at multiple sites, were performed. The results so far show that the turbulent heat exchange coefficient and sensible heat flux are remarkably lower than the earlier estimations at grassland, meadow, and bare soil surfaces of the central and western TP. Climatologically, cumulus clouds over the main body of the TP might develop locally instead of originating from the cumulus clouds that propagate northward from South Asia. The TIPEX-Ⅲ observations up to now also reveal diurnal variations, macro-and microphysical characteristics, and water-phase transition mechanisms, of cumulus clouds at Naqu station. Moreover, TIPEX-Ⅲ related studies have proposed a maintenance mechanism responsible for the Asian 'atmospheric water tower' and demonstrated the effects of the TP heating anomalies on African, Asian, and North American climates. Additionally, numerical modeling studies show that the Γ distribution of raindrop size is more suitable for depicting the TP raindrop characteristics compared to the M–P distribution, the overestimation of sensible heat flux can be reduced via modifying the heat transfer parameterization over the TP, and considering climatic signals in some key areas of the TP can improve the skill for rainfall forecast in the central and eastern parts of China. | 5 | Phylogenetic analysis revealed the central roles of two African countries in the evolution and worldwide spread of Zika virus显示文摘Recent outbreaks of Zika virus(ZIKV) infections in Oceania's islands and the Americas were characterized by high numbers of cases and the spread of the virus to new areas. To better understand the origin of ZIKV, its epidemic history was reviewed. Although the available records and information are limited, two major genetic lineages of ZIKV were identified in previous studies.However, in this study, three lineages were identified based on a phylogenetic analysis of all virus sequences from Gen Bank, including those of the envelope protein(E) and non-structural protein 5(NS5) coding regions. The spatial and temporal distributions of the three identified ZIKV lineages and the recombination events and mechanisms underlying their divergence and evolution were further elaborated. The potential migration pathway of ZIKV was also characterized. Our findings revealed the central roles of two African countries, Senegal and Cote d'Ivoire, in ZIKV evolution and genotypic divergence. Furthermore, our results suggested that the outbreaks in Asia and the Pacific islands originated from Africa. | 8 | Novel SFTSV Phylogeny Reveals New Reassortment Events and Migration Routes显示文摘Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus(SFTSV),the causative agent of a febrile human disease,was first identified from central and eastern provinces in China,and later in Japan and South Korea.Hubei Province is one of the major SFTS epidemic areas in the central part of China.This study reported the isolation of 11 new SFTSV strains from patients in Hubei Province collected in 2017.Extensive phylogenetic analyses were conducted based on the complete coding sequences of SFTSV segments including the new strains.It was suggested that five different SFTSV genotypes were circulating in Hubei,and 15 reassortment patterns and migration pathways correlated with each genotype were identified,which was more than previously recognized.Hubei Province was more involved in the evolutionary events of SFTSV than that previously thought in which the evolutionary events of SFTSV were reported to be independent from those in other epidemic regions.Further divergence of SFTSV strains was suggested by pairwise comparison of SFTSV sequences from each genotype and sequence identity normalized to representative strain in genotype C1.Subsequently,amino acid variations specific for genotype(s),strain(s),or cluster(s)were inspected,which may be related to differential biological activity of SFTSV strains/genotypes.In conclusion,we analyzed the current status of SFTSV phylogeny in Hubei Province and discussed the possible events correlated to SFTSV evolution.It provided an in-depth insight into SFTSV evolution,raising concerns for the use of proper SFTSV strains in future studies. | Xiaoli Wu Mingyue Li Yanfang Zhang Boyun Liang Junming Shi Yaohui Fang Zhengyuan Su Mengmeng Li Wenjing Zhang Ling Xu Jun Wang Qiaoli Wu Shuang Tang Hualin Wang Tao Zhang Cheng Peng Xin Zheng Fei Deng Shu Shen | 2021 | Virologica Sinica2021,36,2: | 2 |
