| 1 | Characteristics of coastline changes in China's Mainland since the early 1940s显示文摘Based on multi-temporal topographic maps, remote sensing images and field surveys covering the entire coastal zone of China's Mainland, the coastlines of six periods since the early 1940 s were extracted. Coastline changes over the last 70 years were then analyzed in terms of coastline structure, coastline fractals, coastline change rates, land-sea patterns, and bay areas. The results showed that mainland coastline structure changed dramatically, and due to the significant coastline artificialization mainly driven by sea reclamation and coastal engineering, the remaining natural coastline merely accounts for less than one third at present. Coastline fractal dimension represented an overall spatial pattern of 'north < entirety < south'; however, the discrepancy between the north and south coast was apparently narrowed due to dramatic coastline artificialization of northern China which in turn altered the whole pattern. Patterns and processes of land-sea interchange along the mainland coast were complex and varied spatially and temporally, with over 68% advancing toward sea and 22% retreating toward land. The net growth of land area was nearly 14.2 ×103 km2 with an average growth rate of 202.82 km2 a??; and coast retreat was characterized by area decrease of 93 bays with a magnitude of 10.1 ×103 km2 and an average shrinking rate up to 18.19% or an average shrinking speed up to 144.20 km2 a??, among which the total area of Bohai shrunk by 7.06%, with an average annual loss amounting to 82 km2. | 2 | Saponins from Panax japonicus attenuate age-related neuroinflammation via regulation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathways显示文摘Neuroinflammation is recognized as an important pathogenic factor for aging and related cognitive disorders. Mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa B signaling pathways may mediate neuroinflammation. Saponins from Panax japonicus are the most abundant and bioactive members in rhizomes of Panax japonicus, and show anti-inflammatory activity. However, it is not known whether saponin from Panax japonicus has an anti-inflammatory effect in the aging brain, and likewise its underlying mechanisms. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into control groups(3-, 9-, 15-, and 24-month-old groups) and saponins from Panax japonicus-treated groups. Saponins from Panax japonicus-treated groups were orally administrated saponins from Panax japonicus at three doses of 10, 30, and 60 mg/kg once daily for 6 months until the rats were 24 months old. Immunohistochemical staining and western blot assay results demonstrated that many microglia were activated in 24-month-old rats compared with 3-and 9-month-old rats. Expression of interleukin-1β, tumor necrosis factor-α, cyclooxygenase-2, and inducible nitric oxide synthase increased. Each dose of saponins from Panax japonicus visibly suppressed microglial activation in the aging rat brain, and inhibited expression levels of the above factors. Each dose of saponins from Panax japonicus markedly diminished levels of nuclear factor kappa B, IκBα, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, c-Jun N-terminal kinase, and p38. | 3 | A comparative study of dust control practices in Chinese and Australian longwall coal mines显示文摘Mine dust is one of the main hazards in underground longwall mines worldwide.In order to solve the mine dust problem,a significant number of studies have been carried out regarding longwall mine dust control,both in China and Australia.This paper presents a comparative study of dust control practices in Chinese and Australian longwall mines,with particular references to statutory limits,dust monitoring methods and dust management practices,followed by a brief discussion on the research status of longwall mine dust control in both countries.The study shows that water infusion,face ventilation controls,water sprays,and deep and wet cutting in longwall shearer operations are commonly practiced in almost all underground longwall mines and that both Chinese and Australian longwall mine dust control practices have their own advantages and disadvantages.It is concluded that there is a need for further development and innovative design of more effective dust mitigation products or systems despite the development of various dust control technologies.Based on the examinations and discussions,the authors have made some recommendations for further research and development in dust control in longwall mines.It is hoped that this comparative study will provide beneficial guidance for scholars and engineers who are engaging in longwall mine dust control research and practice. | Ji Yinlin Ren Ting Wynne Peter Wan Zhijun Ma Zhaoyang Wang Zhimin | 2016 | International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2016,26,2: | 9 |

| 5 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 6 | UGT74AF3 enzymes specifically catalyze the glucosylation of 4-hydroxy-2,5-dimethylfuran-3(2H)-one,an important volatile compound in Camellia sinensis显示文摘4-Hydroxy-2,5-dimethylfuran-3(2H)-one(HDMF)is an important odorant in some fruits,and is proposed to play a crucial role in the caramel-like notes of some teas.However,its biosynthesis and metabolism in tea plants are still unknown.Here,HDMF glucoside was unambiguously identified as a native metabolite in tea plants.A novel glucosyltransferase UGT74AF3a and its allelic protein UGT74AF3b specifically catalyzed the glucosylation of HDMF and the commercially important structural homologues 2(or 5)-ethyl-4-hydroxy-5(or 2)-methylfuran-3(2H)-one(EHMF)and 4-hydroxy-5-methylfuran-3(2H)-one(HMF)to their correspondingβ-D-glucosides.Site-directed mutagenesis of UGT74AF3b to introduce a single A456V mutation resulted in improved HDMF and EHMF glucosylation activity and affected the sugar donor preference compared with that of the wild-type control enzyme.The accumulation of HDMF glucoside was consistent with the transcript levels of UGT74AF3 in different tea cultivars.In addition,transient UGT74AF3a overexpression in tobacco significantly increased the HDMF glucoside contents,and downregulation of UGT74AF3 transcripts in tea leaves significantly reduced the concentration of HDMF glucoside compared with the levels in the controls.The identification of HDMF glucoside in the tea plant and the discovery of a novel-specific UDP-glucose:HDMF glucosyltransferase in tea plants provide the foundation for improvement of tea flavor and the biotechnological production of HDMF glucoside. | Yongxian Chen Xiangyang Guo Ting Gao Na Zhang Xiaochun Wan Wilfried Schwab Chuankui Song | 2020 | Horticulture Research2020,7,1: | 6 |
| 7 | Corneal injury and its protection using hydro-gel patch during general anesthesia显示文摘AIM: To evaluate corneal injury during general anesthesia and analyze the protective effect of medical hydro-gel eye patch in clinics.METHODS:Seventy-sixpatientswith152 eyesundergoing general anesthesia were included. None had positive corneal fluorescein staining before surgery. Both eyes of each patient were analyzed, with one randomly allocated to receive medical hydro-gel eye patch, and the other to receive common adhesive tape as a control. Corneal injuries were evaluated by scoring fluorescein staining under a hand-held slit lamp immediately after surgery in postanesthesia care unit and 24 h thereafter. Patients' discomforts were also evaluated.RESULTS: Twelve eyes(15.8%) in the hydro-gel patch group and 30 eyes(39.5%) in the adhesive tape group showed corneal injury immediately after surgery. The eyes protected with hydro-gel patch showed statistically less corneal fluorescein staining than the control group.Four eyes in hydro-gel patch group and 6 eyes in adhesive tape group suffered discomfort immediately after surgery without intergroup difference and all discomforts disappeared after 24h(P =0.257). | 8 | Nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabolomics and metabolic pathway networks from patient-matched esophageal carcinoma,adjacent noncancerous tissues and urine显示文摘BACKGROUND Several studies have demonstrated a correlation between esophageal cancer(EC)and perturbed urinary metabolomic profiles,but none has described the correlation between urine metabolite profiles and those of the tumor and adjacent esophageal mucosa in the same patient.AIM To investigate how urinary metabolic phenotypes were linked to the changes in the biochemical landscape of esophageal tumors.METHODS Nuclear magnetic resonance-based metabolomics were applied to esophageal tumor tissues and adjacent normal mucosal tissues alongside patient-matched urine samples.RESULTS Analysis revealed that specific metabolite changes overlapped across both metrics,including glucose,glutamate,citrate,glycine,creatinine and taurine,indicating that the networks for metabolic pathway perturbations in EC,potentially involved in but not limited to disruption of fatty acid metabolism,glucose and glycolytic metabolism,tricarboxylic acid cycle and glutaminolysis.Additionally,changes in most urinary biomarkers correlated with changes in biomarker candidates in EC tissues,implying enhanced energy production for rapid cell proliferation.CONCLUSION Overall,these associations provide evidence for distinct metabolic signatures and pathway disturbances between the tumor tissues and urine of EC patients,and changes in urinary metabolic signature could reflect reprogramming of the aforementioned metabolic pathways in EC tissues.Further investigation is needed to validate these initial findings using larger samples and to establish the underlying mechanism of EC progression. | Jia-Hao Liang Yan Lin Ting Ouyang Wan Tang Yao Huang Wei Ye Jia-Yun Zhao Zhe-Ning Wang Chang-Chun Ma | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,25: | 4 |
| 9 | Pharmacological properties and mechanisms of Notoginsenoside R1 in ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Panax notoginseng is an ancient Chinese medicinal plant that has great clinical value in regulating cardiovascular disease in China.As a single component of panax notoginosides,notoginsenoside R1(NGR1)belongs to the panaxatriol group.Many reports have demonstrated that NGR1 exerts multiple pharmacological effects in ischemic stroke,myocardial infarction,acute renal injury,and intestinal injury.Here,we outline the available reports on the pharmacological effects of NGR1 in ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)injury.We also discuss the chemistry,composition and molecular mechanism underlying the anti-I/R injury effects of NGR1.NGR1 had significant effects on reducing cerebral infarct size and neurological deficits in cerebral I/R injury,ameliorating the impaired mitochondrial morphology in myocardial I/R injury,decreasing kidney injury molecule-1 and neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin in renal I/R injury and attenuating jejunal mucosal epithelium injury in intestinal I/R injury.The various organ anti-I/R injury effects of NGR1 are mainly through the suppression of oxidative stress,apoptosis,inflammation,endoplasmic reticulum stress and promotion of angiogenesis and neurogenesis.These findings provide a reference basis for future research of NGR1 on I/R injury. | Ting Zhu Qi Wan | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Traumatology2023,26,1: | 4 |
| 10 | Overview of the 2022 WHO Classification of Pituitary Adenomas/Pituitary Neuroendocrine Tumors:Clinical Practices,Controversies,and Perspectives显示文摘The latest edition of the WHO classification of the central nervous system was published in 2021.This review summarizes the major revisions to the classification of anterior pituitary tumors.The most important revision involves preferring the terminology of pituitary neuroendocrine tumor(PitNET),even though the terminology of pituitary adenoma(PA)still can be used according to this WHO classification compared to the previous one.Moreover,immunohistochemistry(IHC)examination of pituitary-specific transcription factors(TFs),including PIT1,TPIT,SF-1,GATA2/3,and ERα,is endorsed to determine the tumor cell lineage and to facilitate the classification of PitNET/PA subgroups.However,TF-negative IHC staining indicates PitNET/PA with no distinct cell lineages,which includes unclassified plurihormonal(PH)tumors and null cell(NC)tumors in this edition.The new WHO classification of PitNET/PA has incorporated tremendous advances in the understanding of the cytogenesis and pathogenesis of pituitary tumors.However,due to the shortcomings of the technology used in the diagnosis of PitNET/PA and the limited understanding of the tumorigenesis of PitNET/PA,the application of this new classification system in practice should be further evaluated and validated.Besides providing information for deciding the follow-up plans and adjunctive treatment after surgery,this classification system offers no additional help for neurosurgeons in clinical practice,especially in determining the treatment strategies.Therefore,it is necessary for neurosurgeons to establish a comprehensive pituitary classification system for PitNET/PA that incorporates neuroimaging grading data or direct observation of invasiveness during operation or the predictor of prognosis,as well as pathological diagnosis,thereby distinguishing the invasiveness of the tumor and facilitating neurosurgeons to decide on the treatment strategies and follow-up plans as well as adjunctive treatment after surgery. | Xue-yan WAN Juan CHEN Jun-wen WANG Yan-chao LIU Kai SHU Ting LEI | 2022 | Current Medical Science2022,42,6: | 4 |
| 11 | A Healable and Mechanically Enhanced Composite with Segregated Conductive Network Structure for High‑Efficient Electromagnetic Interference Shielding显示文摘It is still challenging for conductive polymer composite-based electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials to achieve long-term stability while maintaining high EMI shielding effectiveness(EMI SE),especially undergoing external mechanical stimuli,such as scratches or large deformations.Herein,an electrostatic assembly strategy is adopted to design a healable and segregated carbon nanotube(CNT)/graphene oxide(GO)/polyurethane(PU)composite with excellent and reliable EMI SE,even bearing complex mechanical condition.The negatively charged CNT/GO hybrid is facilely adsorbed on the surface of positively charged PU microsphere to motivate formation of segregated conductive networks in CNT/GO/PU composite,establishing a high EMI SE of 52.7 dB at only 10 wt%CNT/GO loading.The Diels–Alder bonds in PU microsphere endow the CNT/GO/PU composite suffering three cutting/healing cycles with EMI SE retention up to 90%.Additionally,the electrostatic attraction between CNT/GO hybrid and PU microsphere helps to strong interfacial bonding in the composite,resulting in high tensile strength of 43.1 MPa and elongation at break of 626%.The healing efficiency of elongation at break achieves 95%when the composite endured three cutting/healing cycles.This work demonstrates a novel strategy for developing segregated EMI shielding composite with healable features and excellent mechanical performance and shows great potential in the durable and high precision electrical instruments. | Ting Wang Wei‑Wei Kong Wan‑Cheng Yu Jie‑Feng Gao Kun Dai Ding‑Xiang Yan Zhong‑Ming Li | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11: | 4 |
| 12 | Report on 3.4 Ga SHRIMP Zircon Age from the Yuntaishan Geopark in Jiaozuo, Henan Province显示文摘Using the reported new U-Pb age with the Sensitive High-Resolution Ion Microprobe (SHRIMP II), zircon U-Pb ages were obtained from two samples of K-feldspar felsic paragneiss and K-feldspar gneissoid trondhjemite on the southern margin of the Taihang Mountains in the North China Craton. The protolith of the K-feldspar felsic paragneiss is argillaceous-sandy clastic sedimentary rock, probably deposited in the Neoarchean. Most of the detritus zircons show heavy loss of Pb. Five spots of zircons near the upper point, yield a weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb age of 3399±8 Ma, representing an age of the sedimentary source. Two groups of zircons from the K-feldspar gneissoid trondhjemite give weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb ages of 2511±13 Ma and 2735±16 Ma respectively. The former represents the emplacement time of the pluton, while the latter is interpreted as the age of the inherited zircons. | 14 | An Ionic Liquid-assisted Hydrothermal Synthesis of Ce02 Nanorods显示文摘CeO2 nanorods were synthesized by a hydrothermal method at 160℃ from CeC16-6H20 and NH3.H20 in the presence of an ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methyl-imidazolium chloride ([Bmim]C1). The phase and morphology of the result- ing products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), respectively. The results reveal that morphology of CeO2 prepared in the presence of the ionic liquid is nano- rod while it changes to irregular nanoparticle without ionic liquid. The resulting nanorods are about 13-25 nm in diameter and 200-500 nm in length. With the increase of ionic concentration, nanorods were disappeared gradually and nanoparticles were obtained. | 15 | Effects of Si alloying and T6 treatment on mechanical properties and wear resistance of ZA27 alloys显示文摘To improve the mechanical properties and wear resistance of ZA27 alloy, Si was introduced to the alloy, and the effect of Si alloying and T6 heat treatment on the microstructure, mechanical properties and wear resistance was investigated. The results show that with 0.55% Si, the microstructure of the alloy can be refined effectively, which leads to the increase of hardness. But the tensile strength and elongation decrease because Si undermines the integrity of the matrix. On the other hand, the dendrites are transformed into a desired α+η+(α+η)mixture with T6 heat treatment, which introduces a remarkable increase to the elongation and hardness of the alloy. The wear resistance of the ZA27 alloy with Si alloying is significantly better than that of the ZA27 alloy without Si. With the increase of Si addition, the wear resistance of the alloy firstly increases and then decreases.In the alloy without Si alloying, severe plastic deformation and large delamination were observed on the worn surface of the alloy. However, with the increase of Si, the main wear mechanism transformed to abrasive wear gradually. | 18 | Low Phase Angle Predicts Poor Survival in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma:A Retrospective Study显示文摘Background The phase angle(PA)is an indicator of nutritional status derived from bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA).Studies have shown that the PA is one of several factors related to the survival of cancer patients.However,the correlation between the PA and prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has not been reported.This study aimed to explore the relationship between the PA,nutrition-related indicators,and patient prognosis.Methods The data from 248 HCC patients who underwent BIA between January 2015 and December 2019 at the First Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into two groups according to the median PA value,then the nutrition-related indicators and overall survival(OS)were compared between the two groups.The correlations between the PA and laboratory test nutrition-related indicators and the results of a body composition analysis were determined using Pearson correlation analysis.Independent predictors of the patient prognosis were identified using univariate and multivariate analyses.Results The median OS in the high and low PA groups were 70 and 54.6 months,respectively(P=0.004).The Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the PA was associated with both laboratory test nutrition-related indicators and the results of a body composition analysis.The multivariable Cox regression analysis identified the PA as an independent risk factor affecting the prognosis of patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B.Conclusion The PA is a good biomarker for the nutritional status.We found that the PA was associated with the prognosis in patients with HCC,with a low PA indicating a poor nutritional status and worse prognosis. | Jin Yu Shi Guang Yang Bo Liu Xiao Shang Guo Zhen Cui Jia Xin Huang Wan Ting Wang Ke Yu Chen Nan Ya Wang | 2022 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2022,7,2: | 2 |
| 19 | Thrombocytopenia for prediction of hepatocellular carcinoma recurrence: Systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘AIM: To investigate the association between thrombocytopenia and relapse after treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS: We searched the Pub Med, EMBASE, and Web of Science databases to obtain eligible studies. The hazard ratios(HRs) values and 95% confidence intervals(CIs) were pooled by random effects model. Subsequently, we estimated the heterogeneity, performed a sensitivity analysis, determined the publication bias, and performed subgroup and meta-regression analyses. Study quality was assessed by using the Oxford Center for Evidence Based Medicine tool.RESULTS: We identified 18 eligible studies by retrieval(published during 2000-2014). Out of the 4163 patients with HCC who were recruited, 2746(66.0%) experienced recurrence. In general, our meta-analysis suggested that low platelet count(PLT) before therapy significantly increased the probability of postoperative recurrence(HR = 1.53, 95%CI: 1.29-1.81). PLT was also valuable in the prediction of intrahepatic distant recurrence(HR = 1.49, 95%CI: 1.25-1.77). Subgroupand meta-regression analyses identified various therapeutic modalities as the source of a high degree of heterogeneity. The pooled HR values showed no obvious change when a single study was removed, but otherwise, an opposite-effects model was used.
