| 1 | Computational analysis of antigenic epitopes of avian influenza A (H7N9) viruses显示文摘Influenza virus can rapidly change its antigenicity, via mutation in the hemagglutinin(HA) protein, to evade host immunity. The emergence of the novel human-infecting avian H7N9 virus in China has caused widespread concern. However, evolution of the antigenicity of this virus is not well understood. Here, we inferred the antigenic epitopes of the HA protein from all H7 viruses, based on the five well-characterized HA epitopes of the human H3N2 virus. By comparing the two major H7 phylogenetic lineages, i.e., the Eurasian lineage and the North American lineage, we found that epitopes A and B are more frequently mutated in the Eurasian lineage, while epitopes B and C are more frequently mutated in the North American lineage. Furthermore, we found that the novel H7N9 virus(derived from the Eurasian lineage) isolated in China in the year 2013, contains six frequently mutated sites on epitopes that include site 135, which is located in the receptor binding domain. This indicates that the novel H7N9 virus that infects human may already have been subjected to gradual immune pressure and receptor-binding variation. | 2 | Numerical Study on the Thermal Stress and its Formation Mechanism of a Thermoelectric Device显示文摘The strong thermo-mechanical stress is one of the most critical failure mechanisms that affect the durability of thermoelectric devices. In this study, numerical simulations on the formation mechanism of the maximum thermal stress inside the thermoelectric device have been performed by using finite element method. The influences of the material properties and the thermal radiation on the thermal stress have been examined. The results indicate that the maximum thermal stress was located at the contact position between the two materials and occurred due to differential thermal expansions and displacement constraints of the materials. The difference in the calculated thermal stress value between the constant and the variable material properties was between 3% and 4%. | 3 | Vibration and flutter of wind turbine blade modeled as anisotropic thin-walled closed-section beam显示文摘Based on a variational asymptotic analytical model, vibration and aeroelastic stability of rotor blades modeled as anisotropic thin-walled closed-section beams are systematically addressed. The analysis is applied to a laminated composite construction of the circumferentially asymmetric stiffness (CAS) that produces bending-twist coupling. The vibration characteristics of composite beam are determined by the Extended Galerkin Method. The unsteady aerodynamic loads and centrifugal force are integrated with the classical aerodynamic model to deal with aeroelastic stability analysis. The influence of some related factors, ply angle, rotating velocity, and wind speed, is investigated. | 5 | DNA tetrahedron-mediated immune-sandwich assay for rapid and sensitive detection of PSA through a microfluidic electrochemical detection system显示文摘Prostate-specific antigen(PSA)is the most widely used biomarker for the early diagnosis of prostate cancer.Existing methods for PSA detection are burdened with some limitations and require improvement.Herein,we developed a novel microfluidic–electrochemical(μFEC)detection system for PSA detection.First,we constructed an electrochemical biosensor based on screen-printed electrodes(SPEs)with modification of gold nanoflowers(Au NFs)and DNA tetrahedron structural probes(TSPs),which showed great detection performance.Second,we fabricated microfluidic chips by DNA TSP-Au NF-modified SPEs and a PDMS layer with designed dense meandering microchannels.Finally,theμFEC detection system was achieved based on microfluidic chips integrated with the liquid automatic conveying unit and electrochemical detection platform.TheμFEC system we developed acquired great detection performance for PSA detection in PBS solution.For PSA assays in spiked serum samples of theμFEC system,we obtained a linear dynamic range of 1–100 ng/mL with a limit of detection of 0.2 ng/mL and a total reaction time<25 min.Real serum samples of prostate cancer patients presented a strong correlation between the“gold-standard”chemiluminescence assays and theμFEC system.In terms of operation procedure,cost,and reaction time,our method was superior to the current methods for PSA detection and shows great potential for practical clinical application in the future. | Dezhi Feng Jing Su Yi Xu Guifang He Chenguang Wang Xiao Wang Tingrui Pan Xianting Ding Xianqiang Mi | 2021 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2021,7,2: | 1 |

| 9 | Photopatternable PEDOT:PSS/PEG hybrid thin film with moisture stability and sensitivity显示文摘Degradation and delamination resulting from environmental humidity have been technically challenging for poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS)thin-film processing.To overcome this problem,we introduced a one-step photolithographic method to both pattern and link a PEDOT:PSS film onto a poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)layer as a hybrid thin film structure on a flexible substrate.This film exhibited excellent long-term moisture stability(more than 10 days)and lithographic resolution(as low as 2μm).Mechanical characterizations were performed,including both stretching and bending tests,which illustrated the strong adhesion present between the PEDOT:PSS and PEG layers as well as between the hybrid thin film and substrate.Moreover,the hybrid moisture-absorbable film showed a quick response of its permittivity to environmental humidity variations,in which the patterned PEDOT:PSS layer served as an electrode and the PEG layer as a moisture-sensing element.Perspiration tracking over various parts of the body surface as well as breath rate measurement under the nose were successfully carried out as demonstrations,which illustrated the potential utility of this stable hybrid thin film for emerging flexible and wearable electronic applications. | Zijie Zhu Gaomai Yang Ruya Li Tingrui Pan | 2017 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2017,3,1: | 1 |

Following the injection of a square pulse with the pulse energy of 0.9 m J and pulse width of 6 ns, a 0.969-J high-energy laser pulse at 1 Hz was generated, which had the ability to change the waveform arbitrarily, based on the all-fiber structure front end. | 18 | Building energy efficiency and COVID-19 infection risk:Lessons from office room management显示文摘To prevent COVID-19 outbreaks,many indoor environments are increasing the volume of fresh air and running air conditioning systems at maximum power.However,it is essential to consider the comfort of indoor occupants and energy consumption simultaneously when controlling the spread of infection.In this study,we simulated the energy consumption of a three-storey office building for postgraduate students and teachers at a university in Beijing.Based on an improved Wells-Riley model,we established an infection risk-energy consumption model considering non-pharmaceutical interventions and human comfort.The infection risk and building energy efficiency under different room occupancy rates on weekdays and at weekends,during different seasons were then evaluated.Energy consumption,based on the real hourly room occupancy rate during weekdays was 43%–55%lower than energy consumption when dynamic room occupancy rate was not considered.If all people wear masks indoors,the total energy consumption could be reduced by 32%–45%and the proportion of energy used for ventilation for epidemic prevention and control could be reduced by 22%–36%during all seasons.When only graduate students wear masks in rooms with a high occupancy,total energy consumption can be reduced by 15%–25%.After optimization,compared with the strict epidemic prevention and control strategy(the effective reproductive number Rt=1 in all rooms),energy consumption during weekdays(weekends)in winter,summer and transition seasons,can be reduced by 45%(74%),43%(69%),and 55%(78%),respectively.The results of this study provide a scientific basis for policies on epidemic prevention and control,carbon emission peak and neutrality,and Healthy China 2030. | Nan Zhang Tingrui Hu Menghan Niu Baotian Chang Nhantumbo Palmira Elisa Peng Xue Ying Ji | 2023 | Building Simulation2023,16,8: | 0 |

The design and thermal management of the proposed laser amplifier are discussed. The thermally induced wavefront aberration of the slabs was also measured and compared with simulation results. A small-signal single-pass longitudinal gain of 1.8 was measured with a pump energy of 7.3 J.
