1SHRIMP U-Pb geochronology of the zircons from the Precambrian basement of the Qilian Block and its geological significances显示文摘Origin and tectonic evolution of the Qilian Precambrian basement on NW China were investigated using zircon U-Pb ages with collaborating stratigraphic and paleontological evidence. Zircon grains were separated from two schists, two granitic gneisses and one mylonized gneiss and dated with SHRIMP. Seventy percent of sixty-one detrital zircon ages from two schists ranges from 0.88 Ga to 3.09 Ga, mostly within 1.0 Ga to 1.8 Ga with a peak at 1.6 Ga to 1.8 Ga, and twenty percent varies from 2.0 Ga to 2.5 Ga. A few falls in the Archean and Neoproterozoic periods. The two granitic gneisses were dated 930±8 Ma and 918±14 Ma, whereas the mylonized granitic gneiss was dated 790±12 Ma. These ages represent two periods of magmatisms, which can be correlated with the early and late stages of magmatisms associated with the Jinningian movement on the Yangtze Blocks. The results from this and previous studies indicate that the ages of the Precambrian detrital zircons from the Qilian Block are widely distributed in the Proterozoic era, distinct from the North China Block which was stable in the Neo-Mesoproterozoic era. By contrast, the age histograms of the detrital zircons from the Qilian Block is similar to those from Precambrian basement of the Yangtze Craton. Therefore, it is suggested that the Qilian Block had a strong affinity toward the Yangtze Craton and might belong to the supercontinent Gondwana in the Neoproterozoic time. This inference is supported by Nd model age (TDM), stratigraphic, and paleontological evidence. It is further considered that the Qilian Block was rifted from the supercontinent Gondwana during late Sinian to form an isolated continent in the Proto-Tethyan Ocean, moving towards the Alaxa Block in the North China Craton. The part of Proto-Tethyan Ocean between the Qilian and Alaxa Blocks should correspond to the so-called Paleo-Qilian Ocean. Following the closure of the Paleo-Qilian Ocean in the early Paleozoic, the Qilian Block collided with the Alaxa Block to form the North Qilian Orogenic Belt. Based on this tectonic explanation, the North Qilian ophiolites should represent parts of lithosphere from the Proto-Tethyan Ocean. 3SHRIMP U-Pb geochronology of the detrital zircons from the Longshoushan Group and its tectonic significance显示文摘Sixty-two geologically meaningful U-Pb dates were obtained by using SHRIMP technique for the detrital zircons in three metasedimentary rocks from stratigraphically uppermost parts of the Longshoushan Group in the present study. Eighty percents of these dates range from 1.7 Ga to 2.2 Ga with a peak at 1.8-2.0 Ga and twenty percents from 2.3 Ga to 2.7 Ga. The youngest detrital zircon is dated at 1724±19 Ma which is interpreted as the maximum depositional age of the metasedimentary rocks. Therefore, the age for the diagenesis and lithification of the original sedimentary rocks of the Longshoushan Group before the metamorphism must be younger than 1724±19 Ma. Comparison of the age histograms of these detrital zircons with the ages of the igneous rocks on the surrounding older massifs suggests that the sediments of the Longshoushan Group were most likely derived from the Alaxa Block and Tarim Craton. 11Fecal calprotectin correlated with endoscopic remission for Asian inflammatory bowel disease patients显示文摘AIM: To evaluate the correlation between fecal calprotectin(f C), C-reactive protein(CRP), and endoscopic disease score in Asian inflammatory bowel disease(IBD) patients.METHODS: Stool samples were collected and assessed for calprotectin levels by Quantum Blue Calprotectin High Range Rapid test. Crohn's disease endoscopic index of severity(CDEIS) and ulcerative colitis endoscopic index of severity(UCEIS) were used for endoscopic lesion scoring. RESULTS: A total of 88 IBD patients [36 patients with Crohn's disease(CD) and 52 with ulcerative colitis(UC)] were enrolled. For CD patients, f C correlated with CDEIS(r = 0.465, P = 0.005) and CRP(r = 0.528, P = 0.001). f C levels in UC patients correlated with UCEIS(r = 0.696, P < 0.0001) and CRP(r = 0.529, P = 0.0005). Calprotectin could predict endoscopic remission(CDEIS < 6) with 50% sensitivity and 100% specificity(AUC: 0.74) in CD patients when using 918 μg/g as the cutoff. When using 191 μg/g as the cut-off in UC patients, calprotectin could be used for predicting endoscopic remission(UCEIS < 3) with 88% sensitivity and 75% specificity(AUC: 0.87). 14Facile fabrication of micro-grooves based photonic crystals towards anisotropic angle-independent structural colors and polarized multiple reflections显示文摘In nature,many living organisms exhibit low-angle-dependent or even angle-independent structural colors for wide viewing angle,such as the blue skin of mandrill,feather of blue bird and shell of longhorn beetle,etc.To mimic these structural colors,based on periodic semicircular micro-grooved(PSMG) substrate,silica colloidal photonic crystals provide anisotropic angle-independent structural colors.The PSMG photonic crystals were fabricated by self-assembling monodispersed silica nanoparticles on a micro-grooved template,which can be easily prepared in large scale by a hot embossing method,and no additional materials are needed in the whole preparation process.The PSMG photonic crystals exhibit identical structural colors around the groove axis,whereas it is angle-dependent along the groove axis.In addition,this PSMG surface of photonic crystal also leads to color separation effect and monocolor polarization conversion.This system provides a facile and scalable means to prepare anisotropically angleindependent colloidal photonic crystal,which is considered important in applications in the field of anti-counterfeiting or the manufacture of monochromatic light reflector with wide viewing angles and other novel optical devices.Chuanyong Liu Yue Long Bingquan Yang Guoqiang Yang Chen-Ho Tung Kai Song 2017Science Bulletin2017,62,13:5

18Serum insulin, insulin resistance, p-cell dysfunction, and gallstone disease among type 2 diabetics in Chinese population: A community-based study in Kinmen, Taiwan显示文摘AIM: To explore the association of serum insulin, insulin resistance, and β-cell dysfunction with gallstone disease (GSD) in type 2 diabetics. METHODS: We used a community-based study conducted between 1991 and 1993 in Kinmen, Taiwan to identify type 2 diabetics. A screening program for GSD was performed in 2001 by a panel of specialists who employed real-time ultrasound sonography to examine the abdominal region after the patient had fasted for at least 8 h. Screening was conducted in 2001 on 848 patients diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. The HOMA method was used to compare the profile differences for insulin resistance (HOMA IR) and β-cell dysfunction (HOMA β-cell). RESULTS: We studied 440 type 2 diabetics who attended sonography check-ups. After excluding eight insulin-treated diabetics, the prevalence of GSD among the remaining 432 was 13.9% (26/187) among males and 14.7% (36/245) among females. After adjustment for other GSD-associated risk factors in addition to age and obesity, GSD risk increased among females with levels of serum insulin [4th vs 1st quartile odds ratios (OR) = 4.46 (95%CI: 1.71-11.66)] and HOMA IR [4th vs 1st quartile OR = 4.46 (95%CI: 1.71-11.66)]. Better HOMA β-cell function was significantly related to decreased risk of GSD [4th vs 1st quartile OR = 0.16 (95%CI: 0.03-1.70)]. Among males, age and central obesity were the most significant risk factors for GSD. No association of GSD with serum insulin, HOMA IR, and HOMA β-cell was observed among males.
