1A new species of the genus Crocidura from China based on molecular and morphological data(Eulipotyphla: Soricidae)显示文摘A new species of white-toothed shrew,Crocidura anhuiensis Zhang,Zhang&Li,sp.nov.is described from Mount Huang,China.Genetic sequence(mt DNA Cyt b gene)and morphological(external and skull)data are used to distinguish this newly discovered species.The phylogenetic analysis shows that the materials of this work are monophyletic and allied to C.attenuata by the uncorrected genetic distance 4.9–5.1%,which suggests a species-level divergence.Morphologically,the materials are different from C.attenuata by presenting a greater proportion of tail-to-body ratio and the presence of an obvious tooth root in the mandible.Based on those data,the unnamed species is described as a new species which is currently known only from the Wild Monkey Valley,Mount Huang,Anhui Province,China.Heng Zhang Guiyou Wu Yanqing Wu Jianfei Yao Shuo You Chencheng Wang Feng Cheng Jingjing Chen Mingxia Tang Chunlin Li Baowei Zhang 2019Zoological Systematics2019,44,4:5
2Deep brain stimulation for Tourette’s syndrome显示文摘Tourette syndrome(TS)is a childhood-onset neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by the presence of multiple motor and vocal tics.TS usually co-occurs with one or multiple psychiatric disorders.Although behavioral and pharmacological treatments for TS are available,some patients do not respond to the available treatments.For these patients,TS is a severe,chronic,and disabling disorder.In recent years,deep brain stimulation(DBS)of basal ganglia-thalamocortical networks has emerged as a promising intervention for refractory TS with or without psychiatric comorbidities.Three major challenges need to be addressed to move the field of DBS treatment for TS forward:(1)patient and DBS target selection,(2)ethical concerns with treating pediatric patients,and(3)DBS treatment optimization and improvement of individual patient outcomes(motor and phonic tics,as well as functioning and quality of life).The Tourette Association of America and the American Academy of Neurology have recently released their recommendations regarding surgical treatment for refractory TS.Here,we describe the challenges,advancements,and promises of the use of DBS in the treatment of TS.We summarize the results of clinical studies and discuss the ethical issues involved in treating pediatric patients.Our aim is to provide a better understanding of the feasibility,safety,selection process,and clinical effectiveness of DBS treatment for select cases of severe and medically intractable TS.Wenying Xu Chencheng Zhang Wissam Deeb Bhavana Patel Yiwen Wu Valerie Voon Michael S.Okun Bomin Sun 2020Translational Neurodegeneration2020,9,1:1

4A Severe Seasonal Influenza Epidemic During 2017–2018 in China After the 2009 Pandemic Influenza: A Modeling Study显示文摘Influenza viruses continue to cause epidemics worldwide every year.However,due to the lack of an effective assessment for the severity of influenza epidemics,it was extremely difficult to take preventative measures.Data were extracted from infectious diseases reports from 2011–2018.Joinpoint regression model and susceptible-exposed-infectious-recovered model were built to understand the characteristics and processes of the epidemic.The reported incidence of influenza was 1,913,698 from January 2011 to February 2018,with an average-yearly-reported-incidence-rate of 19.21 per 100,000.However,there had been a substantial nationwide epidemic of influenza after September 2017,when the average yearly reported incidence rate was 87.29 per 100,000 and an annual percentage change of 48.1%.The hemagglutinin genes of most influenza A(H1N1 and H3N2)viruses from the period of the epidemic had lower homology to those before August 2017.All the hemagglutinin of the recommended A(H3N2,H1N1)and B(Victoria)viruses for vaccines 2017/2018 had low matches with the epidemic viruses.The basic reproduction number was 1.53.The vaccination benefit was linearly related to vaccination coverage,while the quarantine measure had only significantly benefited when over 60%of the quarantined population.The most severe epidemic of influenza in China since 2011 occurred during the period from September 2017 to February 2018.Compared to quarantine,influenza vaccination is more effective way to prevent influenza,and strategies to increase vaccination coverage should be taken for the prevention of severe epidemics of influenza.Xiaofang Fu Yuqing Zhou Jie Wu Xiaoxiao Liu Cheng Ding Chenyang Huang Min Deng Dongyan Shi Chencheng Wang Kaijin Xu Jingjing Ren Bing Ruan Lanjuan Li Shigui Yang 2019Infectious Microbes & Diseases2019,1,1:0

6Activating transcription factor 3,glucolipid metabolism,and metabolic diseases显示文摘Lipids and glucose exert many essential physiological functions,such as providing raw materials or energy for cellular biosynthesis,regulating cell signal transduction,and maintaining a constant body temperature.Dysregulation of lipid and glucose metabolism can lead to glucolipid metabolic disorders linked to various metabolic diseases,such as obesity,diabetes,and cardiovascular disease.Therefore,intervention in glucolipid metabolism is a key therapeutic strategy for the treatment of metabolic diseases.Activating transcription factor 3(ATF3)is a transcription factor that acts as a hub of the cellular adaptive-response network and plays a pivotal role in the regulation of inflammation,apoptosis,DNA repair,and oncogenesis.Emerging evidence has illustrated the vital roles of ATF3 in glucolipid metabolism.ATF3 inhibits intestinal lipid absorption,enhances hepatic triglyceride hydrolysis and fatty acid oxidation,promotes macrophage reverse cholesterol transport,and attenuates the progression of western diet-induced nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and atherosclerosis.In addition to its role in lipid metabolism,ATF3 has also been identified as an important regulator of glucose metabolism.Here,we summarize the recent advances in the understanding of ATF3,mainly focusing on its role in glucose and lipid metabolism and potential therapeutic implications.Shuwei Hu Xiaojie Zhao Rui Li Chencheng Hu Huijuan Wu Jing Li Yanqiao Zhang Yanyong Xu 2022Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2022,14,10:0
