1^(40)Ar/^(39)Ar Thermochronological Constraints on the Timing of Collisional Orogeny in the Mian-Lite Collision Belt,Southern Qinling Mountains显示文摘Silurian, Devonian and Carboniferous geological bodies in the Mianxian-Lueyang (Mian-Lue) collisional belt (MLB) and its neighbouring areas, southern Qinling Mountains, China, show similar characteristics of having undergone deformation of two stages. The earlier one, which is inferred to be related to collisional orogeny between the Yangtze and Sino-Korean palaeocontinents based on previous geological data, is responsible for large-scale, north-verging recumbent folds and overthrusts, and associated with low greenschist fades metamorphism. 40Ar/39Ar dating of three muscovite samples taken from different localities yields plateau ages of 226.9±0.9 and 219.5±1.4 Ma and an apparent age of 194.5±3.0 Ma. 3Sinomenine ester derivative inhibits glioblastoma by inducing mitochondria-dependent apoptosis and autophagy by PI3K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathway显示文摘Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)in the central nervous system is the most lethal advanced glioma and currently there is no effective treatment for it.Studies of sinomenine,an alkaloid from the Chinese medicinal plant,Sinomenium acutum,showed that it had inhibitory effects on several kinds of cancer.Here,we synthesized a sinomenine derivative,sino-wcj-33(SW33),tested it for antitumor activity on GBM and explored the underlying mechanism.SW33 significantly inhibited proliferation and colony formation of GBM and reduced migration and invasion of U87 and U251 cells.It also arrested the cell cycle at G2/M phase and induced mitochondria-dependent apoptosis.Differential gene enrichment analysis and pathway validation showed that SW33 exerted anti-GBM effects by regulating PI3 K/AKT and AMPK signaling pathways and significantly suppressed tumorigenicity with no obvious adverse effects on the body.SW33 also induced autophagy through the PI3 K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathways.Thus,SW33 appears to be a promising drug for treating GBM effectively and safely.Xiangjin Zheng Wan Li Huanli Xu Jinyi Liu Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Sha Li Jinhua Wang Tengfei Ji Guanhua Du 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,11:15
4A newly discovered Gigantopithecus fauna from Sanhe Cave, Chongzuo, Guangxi, South China显示文摘Among the most important faunas in the Late Cenozoic, the Gigantopithecus faunas have received a good deal of attention. The Gigantopithecus fauna recently discovered in Sanhe Cave consists of more than 80 mammal species, including cf. Hominidae, Pongo sp., Hylobates sp., Sinomastodon yangzien-sis, Stegodon preorientalis, Cervavitus fenqii, Dicoryphochoerus ultimus and Sus xiaozhu. It is the southernmost Gigantopithecus fauna found so far in China. Its geological age is estimated to be Early Pleistocene based on the fauna and stratigraphic correlation. The significant increase in the estimated body sizes of Ailuropoda, Gigantopithecus and Tapirus shows that the Sanhe fauna is middle Early Pleistocene, later than those from Wushan and Liucheng (early Early Pleistocene). Paleomagnetic dating of the fossil-bearing strata in Sanhe Cave gives an age of approximately 1.2 Ma. The fauna is characterized by tropical-subtropical forest types, including Pongo sp., Tupaia sp., Ia sp., Typhlomys intermedius, etc., and it lacks Palaearctic types. It is a typical tropical forest fauna, suggesting an en-vironment with a lush forest and a warm and humid climate. 5The Homo sapiens Cave hominin site of Mulan Mountain,Jiangzhou District,Chongzuo,Guangxi with emphasis on its age显示文摘One of the most hotly debated and frontal issues in paleoanthropology focuses on the origins of modern humans. Recently, an incomplete hominin mandible with a distinctly weaker mental protuberance than modern human and a great variety of coexisting fossil mammals were unearthed from the Homo sapiens Cave of Mulan Mountain, Chongzuo, Guangxi. The mammalian fauna from the Homo sapiens Cave characterized by the combination of Elephas kiangnanensis, first occurring Elephas maixmus, and Megatapirus augustus, and strikingly different from the Early Pleistocene Gigantopithecus fauna and the Middle Pleistocene Ailuropoda-Stogodon fauna of South China could be regarded as an early representive of the typical Asian elephant fauna. Faunal analysis, biostratigraphic correlation, and, most importantly, U-series dating all consistently support an estimate of ca. 110 ka for the age of the fossil Homo sapiens and coexisting mammalian fauna, that is, the early Late Pleistocene. The fauna is mainly made up of tropical-subtropical elements, but grassland elements have a much greater variety than forest elements, which probably indicates a drier climate at that time. 6A new ophiolitic mélange containing boninitic blocks in Alxa region:Implications for Permian subduction events in southern CAOB显示文摘The Alxa region, located in the southernmost part of Central Asian Orogenic Belt, is a key region for understanding the tectonic processes associated with the closure of the Paleo-Asian Ocean. Issues of late Paleozoic tectonic settings and tectonic unit divisions of the Alxa region still remain controversial. In this study, we report a new ophiolitic mélange named the Tepai ophiolitic mélange in the northern Alxa region, northwest of Alxa Youqi. The tectonic blocks in the Tepai ophiolitic mélange are mainly composed of serpentinized peridotites, serpentinites, mylonitized gabbros, gabbros, basalts, and quartzites, with a matrix comprising highly deformed clastic rocks. A gabbro exhibits a zircon LA-ICP-MS Ue Pb age of278.4 ± 3.3 Ma. Gabbros exhibit high Mg O and compatible element contents, but extremely low TiO_2,totally rare earth element and high field strength element contents. These rocks exhibit light rare earth element depleted patterns, and display enriched in large-ion lithophile elements and depleted in high field strength elements. Boninite-like geochemical data show that they were formed in a subductionrelated environment, and derived from an extremely depleted mantle source infiltrated by subduction-derived fluids and/or melts. The Tepai ophiolitic mélange exhibits similar zircon U-Pb-O isotopic compositions and whole-rock geochemical characteristics to those of the Quagan Qulu ophiolite.Therefore, we propose that the Tepai ophiolitic mélange may have been the western continuation of the Quagan Qulu ophiolite. 7Medical expenditures for colorectal cancer diagnosis and treatment: A 10-year high-level-hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey in China, 2002-2011显示文摘Objective: Colorectal cancer(CRC) causes a substantial burden of disease in China and the evidence of economic burden triggered is fundamental for priority setting. The aim of this survey was to quantify medical expenditures and the time trends for CRC diagnosis and treatment in China.Methods: From 2012 to 2014, a hospital-based multicenter retrospective survey was conducted in 13 provinces across China. For each eligible CRC patient diagnosed from 2002 to 2011, clinical information and expenditure data were extracted using a uniform questionnaire. All expenditure data were reported in Chinese Yuan(CNY)using 2011 values.Results: Of the 14,536 CRC patients included, the average age at diagnosis was 58.2 years and 15.8% were stageI cases. The average medical expenditure per patient was estimated at 37,902 CNY [95 % confidence interval(95%CI): 37,282-38,522], and the annual average increase rate was 9.2% from 2002 to 2011(P for trend <0.001), with a cumulative increase of 2.4 times(from 23,275 CNY to 56,010 CNY). The expenditure per patient in stages Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ and Ⅳ were 31,698 CNY, 37,067 CNY, 38,918 CNY and 42,614 CNY, respectively(P<0.001). Expenditure significantly differed within various subgroups. Expenses for drugs contributed the largest proportion(52.6%).Conclusions: These conservative estimates illustrated that medical expenditures for CRC diagnosis and treatment in tertiary hospitals in China were substantial and increased rapidly over the 10 years, with drugs continually being the main expense by 2011. Relatively, medical expenditures are lower for CRC in the earlier stages. 8MIKC^(C)-type MADS-box genes in Rosa chinensis: the remarkable expansion of ABCDE model genes and their roles in floral organogenesis显示文摘MIKC^(C)-type MADS-box(MIKC^(C))genes encode transcription factors that have crucial roles in controlling floral organogenesis and flowering time in plants.Although this gene family has been well characterized in many plant species,its evolutionary and comprehensive functional analysis in rose is lacking.In this study,58 non-redundant MIKC^(C)uni-transcripts were extensively identified from rose transcriptomes.Phylogenetic analysis placed these genes into 12 clades with their Arabidopsis and strawberry counterparts,and revealed that ABCDE model(including AP1/FUL,AP3/PI,AG,and SEP clades),and SOC1 and AGL6 clade genes have remarkably expanded in Rosa chinensis,whereas genes from the FLC and AGL17 clades were undetectable.Sequence alignments suggest that the AP3/PI clade may contribute to more specific functions in rose due to a high variation of amino acid residues within its MADS-box domains.A comparative analysis of gene expression in specific floral organ differentiation stages and floral organs between R.chinensis cv.Old Blush and the closely related mutant genotype R.chinensis cv.Viridiflora(floral organs mutated into leaf-like structures)further revealed the roles of ABCDE model genes during floral organogenesis in rose.Analysis of co-expression networks provided an overview of the regulatory mechanisms of rose MIKC^(C)genes and shed light on both the prominent roles of AP3/PI clade genes in floral organogenesis and the roles of RcAGL19,RcAGL24,and RcSOC1 in regulating floral transition in rose.Our analyses provide an overall insight of MIKC^(C)genes in rose and their potential roles in floral organogenesis.Jinyi Liu Xiaodong Fu Yuwei Dong Jun Lu Min Ren Ningning Zhou Changquan Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:7

11The grapevine kinome:annotation,classification and expression patterns in developmental processes and stress responses显示文摘Protein kinases(PKs)have evolved as the largest family of molecular switches that regulate protein activities associated with almost all essential cellular functions.Only a fraction of plant PKs,however,have been functionally characterized even in model plant species.In the present study,the entire grapevine kinome was identified and annotated using the most recent version of the grapevine genome.A total of 1168 PK-encoding genes were identified and classified into 20 groups and 121 families,with the RLK-Pelle group being the largest,with 872 members.The 1168 kinase genes were unevenly distributed over all 19 chromosomes,and both tandem and segmental duplications contributed to the expansion of the grapevine kinome,especially of the RLK-Pelle group.Ka/Ks values indicated that most of the tandem and segmental duplication events were under purifying selection.The grapevine kinome families exhibited different expression patterns during plant development and in response to various stress treatments,with many being coexpressed.The comprehensive annotation of grapevine kinase genes,their patterns of expression and coexpression,and the related information facilitate a more complete understanding of the roles of various grapevine kinases in growth and development,responses to abiotic stress,and evolutionary history.Kaikai Zhu Xiaolong Wang Jinyi Liu Jun Tang Qunkang Cheng Jin-Gui Chen Zong-Ming(Max)Cheng 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:5
12Simulation of texture evolution and deformation mechanism in Mg-3Al-1Zn alloy during uniaxial compression显示文摘The effects of starting texture on he flow curves, and microstructure and texture evolutions of AZ31(Mg-3Al-1Zn-0.3Mn in wt.%) alloy during uniaxial compression at room temperature have been investigated by experiments and simulations. Two kinds of cylindrical compression samples were cut from the AZ31 extruded rod: one was cut with the compression direction parallel to the extruded direction(ED), and the other was cut with the compression axis perpendicular to the ED. The samples were termed as C//ED sample and C⊥ED sample, respectively. The results indicate that the general characteristics of flow curves and texture evolutions in both C⊥ED and C//ED samples during compression can be well explained by the relative activities of deformation mechanisms, which show a strong orientation dependence on the initial textures and the current texture. A significant yield behavior can be induced by {10-12} twinning at the starting deformation, and the lower yield stress in C⊥ED sample can be enhanced by the high activity of basal slip. The work hardening behavior is related to the activities of basal slip, pyramidal slip, {10-12} twinning, as well as {10-11} twinning. 13Ganglioside GD3 synthase(GD3S),a novel cancer drug target显示文摘Gangliosides are a class of important glycosphingolipids containing sialic acid that are widely distributed on the outer surface of cells and are abundantly distributed in brain tissue. Disialoganglioside with three glycosyl groups(GD3) and disialoganglioside with two glycosyl groups(GD2) are markedly increased in pathological conditions such as cancers and neurodegenerative diseases. GD3 and GD2 were found to play important roles in cancers by mediating cell proliferation, migration, invasion, adhesion,angiogenesis and in preventing immunosuppression of tumors. GD3 synthase(GD3S) is the regulatory enzyme of GD3 and GD2 synthesis, and is important in tumorigenesis and the development of cancers.The study of GD3S as a drug target may be of great significance for the discovery of new drugs for cancer treatment. 14Tumorigenic bacteria in colorectal cancer:mechanisms and treatments显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the third most common and the second most fatal cancer.In recent years,more attention has been directed toward the role of gut microbiota in the initiation and development of CRC.Some bacterial species,such as Fusobacterium nucleatum,Escherichia coli,Bacteroides fragilis,Enterococcus faecalis,and Salmonella sp.have been associated with CRC,based upon sequencing studies in CRC patients and functional studies in cell culture and animal models.These bacteria can cause host DNA damage by genotoxic substances,including colibactin secreted by pks+Escherichia coli,B.fragilis toxin(BFT)produced by Bacteroides fragilis,and typhoid toxin(TT)from Salmonella.These bacteria can also indirectly promote CRC by influencing host-signaling pathways,such as E-cadherin/β-catenin,TLR4/MYD88/NF-κB,and SMO/RAS/p38 MAPK.Moreover,some of these bacteria can contribute to CRC progression by helping tumor cells to evade the immune response by suppressing immune cell function,creating a proinflammatory environment,or influencing the autophagy process.Treatments with the classical antibacterial drugs,metronidazole or erythromycin,the antibacterial active ingredients,M13@Ag(electrostatically assembled from inorganic silver nanoparticles and the protein capsid of bacteriophage M13),berberine,and zerumbone,were found to inhibit tumorigenic bacteria to different degrees.In this review,we described progress in elucidating the tumorigenic mechanisms of several CRC-associated bacteria,as well as progress in developing effective antibacterial therapies.Specific bacteria have been shown to be active in the oncogenesis and progression of CRC,and some antibacterial compounds have shown therapeutic potential in bacteria-induced CRC.These bacteria may be useful as biomarkers or therapeutic targets for CRC.Sha Li Jinyi Liu Xiangjin Zheng Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Wan Li Weiqi Fu Jinhua Wang Guanhua Du 2022Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,2:3
15MELK is an oncogenic kinase essential for metastasis,mitotic progression,and programmed death in lung carcinoma显示文摘Lung cancer is the fastest growth rate of morbidity and mortality in nearly a decade,and remains difficult to treat.Furthermore,the molecular mechanisms underlying its development are still unclear.In this study,bioinformatics analysis showed that MELK was highly expressed in lung cancer and negatively correlated to the survival of lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD).Immunohistochemistry analysis of LUAD patient tissues revealed there were a high level of MELK expression in LUAD.Knockdown of MELK expression inhibits the migration and invasion of LUAD cells,which may be mediated by Twist1,Slug,MMP7,and N-catenin.Overexpression of MELK promoted the growth of LUAD cells in medium,3D Matrigel,and nude mice.Inhibition of MELK by OTSSP167 arrested cycle of LUAD cells at G2/M phase via PLK1-CDC25C-CDK1 pathway,and triggered apoptosis-mediated pyroptosis.Together,these data indicate that MELK is critical for metastasis,mitotic progression,and programmed death of LUAD and may be a promising therapeutic target for LUAD.Qin Tang Wan Li Xiangjin Zheng Liwen Ren Jinyi Liu Sha Li Jinhua Wang Guanhua Du 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:3
16Prognostic and incremental value of computed tomography-based radiomics from tumor and nodal regions in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the prognostic value of preoperative radiomics and establish an integrated model for esophageal squamous cell cancer(ESCC).Methods:A total of 931 patients were retrospectively enrolled in this study(training cohort,n=624;validation cohort,n=307).Radiomics features were obtained by contrast-enhanced computed tomography(CT)before esophagectomy.A radiomics index was set based on features of tumor and reginal lymph nodes by using the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator(LASSO)Cox regression.Prognostic nomogram was built based on radiomics index and other independent risk factors.The prognostic value was assessed by using Harrell’s concordance index,time-dependent receiver operating characteristics and Kaplan-Meier curves.Results:Twelve radiomic features from tumor and lymph node regions were identified to build a radiomics index,which was significantly associated with overall survival(OS)in both training cohort and validation cohort.The radiomics index was highly correlated with clinical tumor-node-metastasis(cTNM)and pathologic TNM(pTNM)stages,but it demonstrated a better prognostic value compared with cTNM stage and was almost comparable with pTNM stage.Multivariable Cox regression showed that the radiomics index was an independent prognostic factor.An integrated model was constructed based on gender,preoperative serum sodium concentration,pTNM and the radiomics index for clinical usefulness.The integrated model demonstrated discriminatory ability better compared with the traditional clinical-pathologic model and pTNM alone,indicating incremental value for prognosis.Conclusions:CT-based radiomics for primary tumor and reginal lymph nodes was sufficient in predicting OS for patients with ESCC.The integrated model demonstrated incremental value for prognosis and was robust for clinical applications.Bangrong Cao Kun Mi Wei Dai Tong Liu Tianpeng Xie Qiang Li Jinyi Lang Yongtao Han Lin Peng Qifeng Wang 2022Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2022,34,2:3
17CO_(2) capture RD&D proceedings in China Huaneng Group显示文摘CO_(2) capture is an important carbon management route to mitigate the greenhouse gas emission in power sector.In recent years,China Huaneng Group(CHNG)has paid more attention on CO_(2)capture technology development and launched a series of R&D and demonstration projects.In the area of pre-combustion CO_(2) capture technology,GreenGen project initiated by CHNG is the first integrated gasification combined cycle(IGCC)power plant in China.Located in Tianjin,GreenGen aims at the development,demonstration and promotion of a near-zero emissions power plant.An IGCC plant of 250 MW has successfully passed full-scale trial operation.In the next phase,a pre-combustion CO_(2) capture unit will be integrated into the system.Pre-combustion process based on coal chemical process has been developed with lower costs successfully.Regarding to post-combustion CO_(2) capture(PCC),in 2008,CHNG built a 3,000 tpa CO_(2) capture plant,which was the first CO_(2) capture demonstration plant in China.In 2009,CHNG launched a PCC project in Shanghai with a capture capacity of 120,000 tpa CO_(2).Recently,Huaneng Clean Energy Research Institute(CERI)and Powerspan formed a joint venture,Huaneng-CERI-Powerspan(HCP).HCP has completed the technology qualification program to supply carbon capture technology for the CO_(2)capture Mongstad project.Besides these activities mentioned above,feasibility studies and system design for large scale PCC system,have been undertaken by CERI and its partners from Australia,US and Europe.Jinyi Wang Shisen Xu 2014International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,1:3
18Influence of traffic on the temperature field of tunnel in cold region:A case study on the world’s longest highway spiral tunnel显示文摘The impact of the piston wind caused by vehicle traffic on the temperature field distribution of the tunnel cannot be ignored,especially in spiral tunnels,where the temperature field distribution is more complicated than that in straight tunnels.Based on the world’s longest highway spiral tunnel,this study explores the influence of traffic on the temperature fields of spiral and straight tunnels,and proposes a new design method for laying length of insulation layer.The results show that traffic has a significant effect on the temperature field dis-tribution in the tunnel.The influence degree of different traffic elements decreases in the following order:average vehicle speed>daily traffic>morning rush hour>evening rush hour.The temperature field distribution of spiral tunnels is asymmetry on the left and right compared with straight tunnels,while the influence degree of traffic on the outside of spiral tunnels is similar to that of straight tunnels.Due to the difference of wind direction and traffic direction at different tunnel openings,an asymmetric insulation layer laying method is proposed.It is suggested that the lengths of the insulation layers of the Jinjiazhuang Tunnel should be 1200 m for the right tunnel inlet,700 m for the right tunnel outlet,700 m for the left tunnel inlet,and 1400 m for the left tunnel outlet.Yifan Jiang Jianyou Yu Ping Zhou Feicong Zhou Jiayong Lin Jinyi Li Ming Lin Feiya Lei Zhijie Wang 2023Underground Space2023,,1:2
19Sphingosine kinase 1 promotes growth of glioblastoma by increasing inflammation mediated by the NF-κB/IL-6/STAT3 and JNK/PTX3 pathways显示文摘Glioblastoma(GBM)is the most challenging malignant tumor of the central nervous system because of its high morbidity,mortality,and recurrence rate.Currently,mechanisms of GBM are still unclear and there is no effective drug for GBM in the clinic.Therefore,it is urgent to identify new drug targets and corresponding drugs for GBM.In this study,in silico analyses and experimental data show that sphingosine kinase 1(SPHK1)is up-regulated in GBM patients,and is strongly correlated with poor prognosis and reduced overall survival.Overexpression of SPHK1 promoted the proliferation,invasion,metastasis,and clonogenicity of GBM cells,while silencing SPHK1 had the opposite effect.SPHK1 promoted inflammation through the NF-κB/IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway and led to the phosphorylation of JNK,activating the JNK-JUN and JNK-ATF3 pathways and promoting inflammation and proliferation of GBM cells by transcriptional activation of PTX3.SPHK1 interacted with PTX3 and formed a positive feedback loop to reciprocally increase expression,promote inflammation and GBM growth.Inhibition of SPHK1 by the inhibitor,PF543,also decreased tumorigenesis in the U87-MG and U251-MG SPHK1 orthotopic mouse models.In summary,we have characterized the role and molecular mechanisms by which SPHK1 promotes GBM,which may provide opportunities for SPHK1-targeted therapy.Wan Li Hongqing Cai Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Hong Yang Jinyi Liu Sha Li Yizhi Zhang Xiangjin Zheng Wei Tan Guanhua Du Jinhua Wang 2022Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,12:2
