1A complete sequence and comparative analysis of a SARS-associated virus(Isolate BJ01)显示文摘The genome sequence of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS)-associated virus provides essential information for the identification of pathogen(s), exploration of etiology and evolution, interpretation of transmission and pathogenesis, development of diagnostics, prevention by future vaccination, and treatment by developing new drugs. We report the complete genome sequence and comparative analysis of an isolate (BJ01) of the coronavirus that has been recognized as a pathogen for SARS. The genome is 29725 nt in size and has 11 ORFs (Open Reading Frames). It is composed of a stable region encoding an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (composed of 2 ORFs) and a variable region representing 4 CDSs (coding sequences) for viral structural genes (the S, E, M, N proteins) and 5 PUPs (putative uncharacterized proteins). Its gene order is identical to that of other known coronaviruses. The sequence alignment with all known RNA viruses places this virus as a member in the family of Coronaviridae. Thirty putative substitutions have been identified by comparative analysis of the 5 SARS- associated virus genome sequences in GenBank. Fifteen of them lead to possible amino acid changes (non-synonymous mutations) in the proteins. Three amino acid changes, with predicted alteration of physical and chemical features, have been detected in the S protein that is postulated to beinvolved in the immunoreactions between the virus and its host. Two amino acid changes have been detected in the Mprotein, which could be related to viral envelope formation. Phylogenetic analysis suggests the possibility of non-human origin of the SARS-associated viruses but provides noevidence that they are man-made. 4Aromatization over nanosized Ga-containing ZSM-5 zeolites prepared by different methods:Effect of acidity of active Ga species on the catalytic performance显示文摘Nanosized Ga-containing ZSM-5 zeolites were prepared via isomorphous substitution and impregnation followed by characterized using various techniques. The catalytic performance of the zeolites for the aromatization of 1-hexene was investigated. The results indicate that isomorphous substitution promotes the incorporation of Ga heteroatoms into the framework along with the formation of extra-framework GaO^+species([GaO^+]a) that have stronger interactions with the negative potential of the framework. In addition, based on the Py-IR results and catalytic performance, the [GaO^+]aspecies with stronger Lewis acid sites produced a better synergism with moderate Br?nsted acid sites and thus improved the selectivity to aromatic compounds. However, the impregnation results in the formation of Ga_2O_3 phase and small amounts of GaO^+species that are mainly located on the external surface([GaO^+]~b), which contribute to weaker Lewis acid sites due to weaker interactions with the zeolite framework. 5p-moment stability of stochastic impulsive differential equations and its application in impulsive control显示文摘The exponential p-moment stability of stochastic impulsive differential equations is addressed. A new theorem to ensure the p-moment stability is established for the trivial solution of the stochastic impul- sive differential system. As an application of the theorem proposed, the problem of controlling chaos of Lorenz system which is excited by parameter white-noise excitation is considered using impulsive control method. 6A draft sequence of the rice (Oryza sativa ssp. indica) genome显示文摘The sequence of the rice genome holds fundamental information for its biology, including physiology, genetics, development, and evolution, as well as information on many beneficial phenotypes of economic significance. Using a 'whole genome shotgun' approach, we have pro-duced a draft rice genome sequence of Oryza sativa ssp. in-dica, the major crop rice subspecies in China and many other regions of Asia. The draft genome sequence is constructed from over 4.3 million successful sequencing traces with an accumulative total length of 2214.9 Mb. The initial assembly of the non-redundant sequences reached 409.76 Mb in length, based on 3.30 million successful sequencing traces with a total length of 1797.4 Mb from an indica variant cultivar 93-11, giving an estimated coverage of 95.29% of the rice genome with an average base accuracy of higher than 99%. 7Efficient photo-assisted Fenton oxidation treatment of multi-walled carbon nanotubes显示文摘In this paper,a new and efficient way to oxidize and functionalize the multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) has been developed by using a combination of ultraviolet (UV) irradiation and Fenton oxida-tion process,namely UV/Fenton oxidation treatment. Comparing with conventionally individual Fenton oxidation treatment of MWNTs,UV/Fenton combined treatment improved the etching rates and effi-ciencies and hence reduced the time for surface modification of MWNTs,which was proved to be an effective method in etching and functionalizing CNTs. The formation of new functional groups,struc-tural changes and thermal stability during oxidation period were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR),Raman spectroscopy and could be clarified by thermogravimetric analy-sis (TGA),which showed that it was under UV irradiation conditions that MWNTs could be rapidly functionalized with hydroxyl,carbonyl and carboxyl groups in the presence of Fenton reagents,origi-nating from the increase in the gross HO· concentration and the existent synergetic effect when using UV irradiation combing with Fenton oxidation process. 8Molecular cloning and functional identification of sterol C24-methyltransferase gene from Tripterygium wilfordii显示文摘Sterol C24-methyltransferase(SMT) plays multiple important roles in plant growth and development. SMT1, which belongs to the family of transferases and transforms cycloartenol into 24-methylene cycloartenol, is involved in the biosynthesis of 24-methyl sterols. Here, we report the cloning and characterization of a cDNA encoding a sterol C24-methyltransferase from Tripterygium wilfordii(Tw SMT1). Tw SMT1(Gen Bank access number KU885950) is a 1530 bp cDNA with a 1041 bp open reading frame predicted to encode a 346-amino acid, 38.62 k Da protein. The polypeptide encoded by the SMT1 cDNA was expressed and purified as a recombinant protein from Escherichia coli(E. coli) and showed SMT activity. The expression of Tw SMT1 was highly up-regulated in T. wilfordii cell suspension cultures treated with methyl jasmonate(Me JA). Tissue expression pattern analysis showed higher expression in the phellem layer compared to the other four organs(leaf, stem, xylem and phloem), which is about ten times that of the lowest expression in leaf. 9A systematic review of SARS-CoV-2 vaccine candidates显示文摘Advanced natural killer/T cell lymphoma(NKTL)has demonstrated poor prognosis with currently available therapies.Here,we report the efficacy of anti-programmed death 1(PD-1)antibody with the P-GEMOX(pegaspargase,gemcitabine,and oxaliplatin)regimen in advanced NKTL.Nine patients underwent six 21-day cycles of anti-PD-1 antibody(day 1),pegaspargase 2000 U/m2(day 1),gemcitabine 1 g/m2(days 1 and 8)and oxaliplatin 130 mg/m2(day 1),followed by anti-PD-1 antibody maintenance every 3 weeks.Programmed death-ligand 1(PD-L1)expression and genetic alterations were determined in paraffin-embedded pretreatment tissue samples using immunohistochemistry and next-generation sequencing(NGS)analysis.Responses were assessed using 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography(18FDG-PET)and computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging.Eight patients exhibited significant responses,comprising of seven complete remissions and one partial remission(overall response rate:88.9%).After a median follow-up of 10.6 months,6/9 patients(66.7%)remained in complete remission.The most common grade 3/4 adverse events were anemia(33.3%),neutropenia(33.3%),and thrombocytopenia(33.3%);all of which were manageable and resolved.Immunochemotherapy produced a high response rate in patients with positive PD-L1 expression(5/6,83.3%).NGS analysis suggested that STAT3/JAK3/PD-L1 alterations and ARID1A mutation were associated with immunochemotherapy efficacy.Mutation in DDX3X and alteration in epigenetic modifiers of KMT2D,TET2,and BCORL1 might indicate a poor response to immunochemotherapy.In conclusion,the anti-PD-1 antibody plus P-GEMOX regimen demonstrated promising efficacy in advanced NKTL.PD-L1 expression combined with specific genetic alterations could be used as potential biomarkers to predict therapeutic responses to immunochemotherapy.Yetian Dong Tong Dai Yujun Wei Long Zhang Min Zheng Fangfang Zhou 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:4
10The synthesis and characterization of a Co-N/C composite catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction in acidic solution显示文摘A non-precious metal Co-N/C catalyst for the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) was synthesized by heating a mechanical mixture of cobalt chloride,urea and acetylene black under a nitrogen atmosphere.The catalyst was characterized by XRD and XPS.The electrocatalytic activity in the ORR was evaluated by linear sweep voltammetry in 0.5 mol L-1 H2SO4 solution.The results show that the Co-N/C catalyst aids the reduction of oxygen.The presence of elemental cobalt in the precursor allows nitrogen atoms to embed themselves in the graphite matrix to form pyridinic and graphitic type C-N structures as the ORR active sites.The effect of heat-treating temperature on the catalytic activity was also investigated.The results also show that the Co-N/C catalyst is most active when pyrolyzed at 600℃.The obtained Co-N/C catalyst loses some activity after initial exposure to the H2SO4 solution because of leaching,but is then stable for up to 20 h immersion.The catalyst is also stable when charged,which is supported by the cyclic voltammetry results.SI YuJun CHEN ChangGuo YIN Wei CAI Hui 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,11:3
11Forest succession in post-agricultural Larix olgensis plantations in northeast China显示文摘In order to understand the management of regional vegetation,numerical classification and ordination are widely used to investigate community distribution and vegetation features.In particular,two-way indicator-species analysis programs(TWINSPAN)classifies plots and species into different groups.De-trended correspondence analysis(DCA)and canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)reflects the relationship between community and site conditions.Afforestation with Larix olgensis Herry.Plantations is a suitable restoration strategy on post-agricultural fields in the Lesser Khingan Mountains.The results of this study show how these plantations develop over time to establish a reliable pathway model by measuring and clarifying the succession process.Twenty-eight L.olgensis plantations along a 48-year chronosequence of afforestation were investigated with a quadrat sampling method.Species composition,community structure attributes of diversity,and site conditions were analyzed.Communities were classified by TWINSPAN into five successional stages:immature,juvenile,mid-aged,nearmature and mature.Classifications were validated by DCA and CCA analysis.Site conditions such as soil and litter thickness,soil organic matter,soil density,and pH were measured.Successional stages varied in community composition and species population,accompanied by time from afforestation and a gradient of site conditions.This gradient showed changes in vegetation occurrence and diversity coinciding with changes in soil conditions.The study showed that L.olgensis plantations had marked predominance in growth and were associated with improved soil fertility and the formation of a stable plant community.Wei Ma Shen Lei Yujun Sun Jason Grabosky 2020Journal of Forestry Research2020,31,6:3
12Surface decoration of Halloysite nanotubes with POSS for fire-safe thermoplastic polyurethane nanocomposites显示文摘Halloysite nanotubes(HNTs)have been considered as a promising flame retardant fillers for polymers.In this work,the polyhedral oligomericsilsesquioxane(POSS)containing amino group was covalently grafted on the surface of HNTs with 3-(2,3-epoxypropoxy)propytrimethoxysilane as a chemical bridge.The POSS modified HNTs(HNTs-POSS)dispersed uniformly in the thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU)matrix and endowed TPU nanocomposites with enhanced tensile properties and fire safety.Cone calorimeter tests revealed that the introduction of 2 wt%HNTs-POSS to TPU matrix remarkably reduced the peak of heat release rate(PHRR)and total heat release(THR)by 60.0%and 18.3%,respectively.In addition,the peak CO production rate and total smoke release(TSR)could be significantly suppressed by the addition of HNTsPOSS.The well dispersed HNTs in combination with the ceramified silicon network from the thermal decomposition of POSS contributed to the formation of a continuous and compact char layer,exhibiting a tortuous effect by inhibiting heat diffusion and evaporation of volatile gaseous.In addition,the released crystal water from HNTs could dilute the combustible volatiles and then decline the combustion intensity.The tensile tests demonstrated that introduction of 2 wt%HNTs-POSS would enhance the maximum stress of TPU nanocomposite with a slight decrease of elongation at break.The combination of HNTs and POSS through the construction of effective interfacial interactions provides a feasible way to effectively enhance the fire safety of TPU nanocomposites without scarifying ductility.Wei Wu Wanjing Zhao Xianjing Gong Qijun Sun Xianwu Cao Yujun Su Bin Yu Robert K.Y.Li Roy A.L.Vellaisamy 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,6:2
13In vitro biocompatibility of three chitosan/polycation composite materials for nerve regeneration显示文摘BACKGROUND:It has been reported that chitosan nerve conduits could support axon elongation and improve relevant function during in vivo nerve regeneration. OBJECTIVE: To investigate in vitro biocompatibility of three novel, chitosan/polycation composite materials for nerve regeneration in cultured mouse Schwann cells and PC12 cells. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The observational, control experiments for nerve tissue engineering were performed at the Department of Biological Sciences and Biotechnology of Tsinghua University from August 2007 to January 2008. MATERIALS: Mouse Schwann cells were isolated from the sciatic nerve of 5–7-day-old BALB/C mice. PC12 cells were purchased from the American Type Culture Collection (ATCC, USA). Chitosan was purchased from Tsingdao Haisheng Co., China. Poly-L-lysine hydrochloride (PLL), polyethyleneimine (PEI) poly-L-ornithine hydrobromide (POR), and S-100 antibody was purchased from Sigma Chemical Co., USA. Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) was purchased from Dojindo Chemical Co., Japan. METHODS: Three chitosan/polycation composite materials for nerve regeneration (PLL-0.25, PEI-0.25, and POR-0.25) were produced by blending chitosan with 0.25% (w/w) poly-L-lysine, polyethyleneimine, and poly-L-ornithine. Pure chitosan was utilized as the control. After 3 days of culture, the morphology of mouse Schwann and PC12 cells cultured on all substrates was observed with an inverted phase contrast microscope. Mouse Schwann cells were stained by immunofluorescence labeling S-100 protein and nuclei, followed by identification with a confocal laser-scanning microscope. The amount of proliferating mouse Schwann and PC12 cells was determined by CCK-8 after 1, 3, and 5 days in culture. The level of PC12 cell differentiation on all substrates was assessed by measuring neurite length at 1, 3, and 5 days after seeding. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Morphology and amount of proliferation of mouse Schwann cells and PC12 cells cultured on chitosan and three polycation-modified materials, as well as amount of differentiation in PC12 cells on these substrates. RESULTS: (1) Morphology of mouse Schwann cells and PC12 cells on all substrates: after 3 days in culture on three different chitosan/polycation composite substrates, Schwann cells were connected to each other and exhibited greater proliferation, compared to the chitosan control. In particular, on PLL-0.25 and POR-0.25 substrates, some cells congregated and nearly reached confluence. The PC12 cells on chitosan substrate, after 3 days in culture, maintained a round shape; few exhibited a bipolar shape and began to form neurite extensions. However, on PLL-0.25 and POR-0.25 substrates, most PC12 cells displayed a bipolar shape with obvious neurite outgrowth, and almost grew as an adherent, spreading monolayer. (2) Proliferation of mouse Schwann cells and PC12 cells on all substrates: on the first day, Schwann cell proliferation on the three composite substrates was significantly greater than the cells on chitosan control (P < 0.01). After 3 and 5 days in culture, PLL-0.25 and POR-0.25 substrates resulted in greater cell proliferation when compared to pure chitosan (P < 0.01). On the third and fifth day in culture PC12 cell proliferation on PLL-0.25 and POR-0.25 was significantly greater than on chitosan substrate (P < 0.01). (3) Differentiation of PC12 cells on all substrates: at all time points, the average neurite length of cells cultured on composite materials was significantly longer than on chitosan control (P < 0.05-0.01). Cells on PLL-0.25 exhibited the longest average neurite length at days 3 and 5. 14Electrochemical analysis and convection-enhanced mass transfer synergistic effect of MnO_x/Ti membrane electrode for alcohol oxidation显示文摘The different electrocatalytic reactors could be constructed for the electrocatalytic oxidation of 2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-1-propanol(TFP) with two typical MnO_x/Ti electrodes, i.e.the electrocatalytic membrane reactor(ECMR) with the Ti membrane electrode and the electrocatalytic reactor(ECR) with the traditional Ti plate electrode.For the electro-oxidation of TFP, the conversion with membrane electrode(70.1%) in the ECMR was 3.3 and 1.7 times higher than that of the membrane electrode without permeate flow(40.8%) in the ECMR and the plate electrode(21.5%) in the ECR, respectively.Obviously, the pore structure of membrane and convection-enhanced mass transfer in the ECMR dramatically improved the catalytic activity towards the electro-oxidation of TFP.The specific surface area of porous electrode was 2.22 m^2·g^(-1).The surface area of plate electrode was 2.26 cm^2(1.13 cm^2× 2).In addition, the electrochemical results showed that the mass diffusion coefficient of the MnO_x/Ti membrane electrode(1.80 × 10^(-6) cm^2·s^(-1)) could be increased to 6.87 × 10^(-6) cm^2·s^(-1) at the certain flow rate with pump, confirming the lower resistance of mass transfer due to the convection-enhanced mass transfer during the operation of the ECMR.Hence, the porous structure and convection-enhanced mass transfer would improve the electrochemical property of the membrane electrode and the catalytic performance of the ECMR,which could give guideline for the design and application of the porous electrode and electrochemical reactor.Hong Wang Xin Wei Yujun Zhang Ronghua Ma Zhen Yin Jianxin Li 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,1:2

16Parallel-Path Power Flows in Magnetic-Geared Permanent Magnet Machines with Sandwiched Armature Stator显示文摘Due to the large torque density of magnetic gears(MGs),magnetic-geared permanent magnet machines(MGPMs)have become promising competitors in the family of direct-drive machines.According to the deployment of armature stators,MGPMs can be generally classified into three types,viz.,MGPM with inner armature stator(MGPM-IAS),MGPM with outer armature stator(MGPM-OAS),and MGPM with sandwiched armature stator(MGPM-SAS).Our investigation finds out that the MGPM-SAS can achieve parallel-path power flows better than the MGPM-OAS,while the MGPM-IAS is with serial power flow paths.Therefore,the torque capability of MGPM-IAS is limited by the torque transmission capability of its integrated MG.However,the MGPM-SAS has the possibility to offer even higher output torque than its integrated MG.This paper focuses on the MGPM-SAS.And three typical MGPMs and their power flow paths are introduced;the interaction of electromagnetic fields in MGPM-SAS is analyzed;simulation calculation and experimental verification are conducted to demonstrate the validity of the theoretical analysis.Yujun Shi Jin Wei Linni Jian 2017Chinese Journal of Electrical Engineering2017,3,1:2
