1Comparing the Diagnostic Criteria for Gestational Diabetes Mellitus of World Health Organization 2013 with 1999 in Chinese Population显示文摘INTRODUCTION Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) was earlier defined as 'hyperglycemia first recognized during pregnancy' and has more recently been described by American Diabetes Association (ADA) (2012) as diabetes diagnosed during pregnancy that is not clearly overt diabetes.[1] The hyperglycemia and adverse pregnancy outcomes study (HAPO) demonstrated that the risk of adverse maternal,fetal,and neonatal outcomes continuously increase as a function of maternal glycemia at 24-28 weeks,even within ranges previously considered normal for pregnancy.[2] After reviewing the results of the HAPO study,many international diabetes study groups,including the International Association of Diabetes and Pregnancy Study Groups and ADA have adopted the 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) at 24-28 weeks as a screening and diagnostic test and defined new cut-off values for GDM diagnosis.The Ministry of Health of China published the criteria for GDM,that is the same as the ADA criteria on July 1,2011.World Health Organization (WHO) has recommended the 75 g OGTT with different cut-offvalues as a diagnostic test since 1999,changed its recommendation on 2013.In Hongkong and Yunnan province in China,most hospital adopted the WHO 1999 criteria,nevertheless,there is no evidence of multicenter and large sample to show that the GDM population within the same ethnic group diagnosed by the new WHO criteria matches those diagnosed by the old one and consistency between the two criteria has not been reported.Thus,we conducted this study to analyze the two criteria in Chinese pregnant women.Weiwei Zhu Huixia Yang Yumei Wei Zilian Wang Xuelan Li Hairong Wu Nan Li Meihua Zhang Xinghui Liu Hua Zhang Yunhui Wang Jianmin Niu Yujie Gan Liruo Zhong Yunfeng Wang Anil Kapur 2015Chinese Medical Journal2015,,1:42

3IL-25 stimulates M2 macrophage polarization and thereby promotes mitochondrial respiratory capacity and lipolysis in adipose tissues against obesity显示文摘Obesity and associated metabolic diseases are characterized by a chronic low-grade inflammatory state with the infiltration of many inflammatory cells,especially macrophages.Immune molecules,including some cytokines,have a close relationship with metabolism.Interleukin(IL)-25 is a member of the IL-17 cytokine family that can regulate macrophages and alleviate some metabolic dysfunction;however,its role and mechanisms in lipid metabolism remain to be extensively clarified.Human serum and liver biopsy specimens,high-fat diet-induced obesity mice and DB/DB(Lepr−/−)animal models were used to examine IL-25 expression in obesity and nonalcoholic fatty liver diseases(NAFLD).To observe the role of IL-25 in lipid metabolism,model mice were administered with IL-25 or adoptively transferred with IL-25-educated macrophages in vivo,whereas bone marrow-derived macrophages,the macrophage cell line RAW264.7 and adipocytes differentiated from 3T3-L1 were used in vitro.IL-25 was decreased in NAFLD patients and obese mice.In addition,IL-25 reduced body weight gain and lipid accumulation,enhanced lipid uptake by macrophages and increased the expression of lipolysis andβ-oxidation enzymes via alternatively activating macrophages.IL-25 also promoted lipolysis and suppressed lipogenesis in adipocytes co-cultured with the IL-25-educated macrophages.Furthermore,IL-25 improved the mitochondrial respiratory capacity and oxygen consumption rate of macrophages and produced more NAD+/NADH and ATP.In conclusion,IL-25 can stimulate M2 macrophage polarization and thereby promote lipolysis and mitochondrial respiratory capacity,highlighting the potential for IL-25 to be used as a therapeutic agent against obesity and associated metabolic syndromes.Juan Feng Lingyi Li Zhiying Ou Qiao Li Baoyong Gong Zhenxian Zhao Weiwei Qi Ti Zhou Jun Zhong Weibin Cai Xia Yang Aiping Zhao Guoquan Gao Zhonghan Yang 2018Cellular & Molecular Immunology2018,15,5:10
4Inhibition of Rac1-dependent forgetting alleviates memory deficits in animal models of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Accelerated forgetting has been identified as a feature of Alzheimer's disease(AD),but the therapeutic efficacy of the manipulation of biological mechanisms of forgetting has not been assessed in AD animal models.Ras-re-lated C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1(Rac1),a small GTPase,has been shown to regulate active forgetting in Drosophila and mice?Here,we showed that Rac1 activity is aberrantly elevated in the hippocampal tissues of AD patients and AD animal models.Moreover,amyloid-beta 42 could induce Rac1 activation in cultured cells.The elevation of Rac1 activity not only accelerated 6-hour spatial memory decay in 3-month-old APP/PS1 mice,but also significantly contributed to severe memory loss in aged APP/PS1 mice.A similar age-dependent Rac1 activity-based memory loss was also observed in an AD fly model.Moreover,inhibition of Rac1 activity could ameliorate cognitive defects and synaptic plasticity in AD animal models.Finally,two novel compounds,identified through behavioral screening of a randomly selected pool of brain permeable small molecules for their positive effect in rescuing memory loss in both fly and mouse models,were found to be capable of inhibiting Rac1 activity.Thus,multiple lines of evidence corroborate in supporting the idea that inhibition of Rac1 activity is effective for treating AD-related memory loss.Wenjuan Wu Shuwen Du Wei Shi Yunlong Liu Ying Hu Zuolei Xie Xinsheng Yao Zhenyu Liu Weiwei Ma Lin Xu Chao Ma Yi Zhong 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,10:10
5Effects of surfactants on enzyme-containing reversed micellar system显示文摘With the development of colloid interface and enzyme technologies,enzyme-containing reversed micellar system has been receiving much attention in bioseparation and bioconversion. Because of its high efficiency,it has brought new opportunities for the development of molecular biotechnology. Reversed micelles represent nano-sized aqueous droplets stabilized by surfactant amphiphiles inside the bulk organic solvents. The entrapped enzymes have enhanced activities under those conditions as suited in the lipid bilayers of biological membranes. The fundamentals of enzyme-containing reversed micellar system are described in this paper,with special emphasis on the effects of surfactants varying in concentrations and structures. The latest study progress on the surfactants application in enzyme-containing reversed micelles is reviewed. 7Detection of infrared photons with a superconductor显示文摘A superconductor single photon detector based on NbN nanowire was fabricated using electron beam lithography (EBL) and reactive ion etching (RIE) for infrared photon detection. When biased well below its critical current at 4.2 K, NbN nanowire is very sensitive to the incident photons. Typical telecommunication photons with a wavelength of 1550 nm were detected by this detector. 8Design and fabrication of superconducting HEB mixer显示文摘This paper describes the design and fabrication of superconducting hot electron bolometer (HEB) mixer based on ultra-thin superconducting NbN films. The high quality films were epitaxially grown on high resistance Si substrates. The device was fabricated by magnetron sputtering, electron beam lithography (EBL), reactive ion etching (RIE), lithography, and so on. The device's resistance-tempera-ture (R-T) curves and current-voltage (I-V) curves were studied. The results of THz response of the device are presented. Y-factor technique was used to measure the device's noise temperature. 9Artificial light-harvesting systems fabricated by supramolecular host–guest interactions显示文摘Artificial light-harvesting systems(LHSs) have drawn increasing research interest in recent times due to the energy crisis worldwide. Concurrently, macrocycle-based host–guest interactions have played an important role in the development of supramolecular chemistry. In recent years, studies towards artificial LHSs driven by macrocycle-based host–guest interactions are gradually being disclosed. In this mini-review, we briefly introduce the burgeoning progress of artificial LHSs driven by host–guest interactions. 10Reduced Smoothened level rescues Aβ-induced memory deficits and neuronal inflammation in animal models of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Emerging evidence suggests that neuro-inflammation begins early and drives the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease(AD), and anti-inflammatory therapies are under clinical development. However,several anti-inflammatory compounds failed to improve memory in clinical trials, indicating that reducing inflammation alone might not be enough. On the other hand, neuro-inflammation is implicated in a number of mental disorders which share the same therapeutic targets. Based on these observations,we screened a batch of genes related with mental disorder and neuro-inflammation in a classical olfactory conditioning in an amyloid beta(Aβ) overexpression fly model. A Smoothened(SMO) mutant was identified as a genetic modifier of Aβ toxicity in 3-min memory and downregulation of SMO rescued Aβ induced 3-min and 1-h memory deficiency. Also, Aβ activated innate inflammatory response in fly by increasing the expression of antimicrobial peptides, which were alleviated by downregulating SMO.Furthermore, pharmaceutical administration of a SMO antagonist LDE rescued Aβ-induced upregulation of SMO in astrocytes of mouse hippocampus, improved memory in Morris water maze(MWM), and reduced expression of astrocyte secreting pro-inflammatory factors IL-1 b, TNFa and the microglia marker IBA-1 in an APP/PS1 transgenic mouse model. 11Comparative WGBS identifies genes that influence non-ripe phenotype in tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening显示文摘Whole-genome bisulfite sequencing(WGBS)allows single-base resolution and genome-wide profiling of DNA methylation in plants and animals.This technology provides a powerful tool to identify genes that are potentially controlled by dynamic changes of DNA methylation and demethylation.However,naturally occurring epimutants are rare and genes under epigenetic regulation as well as their biological relevances are often difficult to define.In tomato,fruit development and ripening are a complex process that involves epigenetic control.We have taken the advantage of the tomato epimutant Colourless non-ripening(Cnr)and performed comparative mining of the WGBS datasets for the Cnr and Sl CMT3-silenced Cnr fruits.We compared DNA methylation profiles for the promoter sequences of approximately 5,000 bp immediately upstream of the coding region of a list of20 genes.Differentially methylated regions were found for some of these genes.Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS)of differentially methylated gene Sl DET1 or Sl PDS resulted in unusual brown pigmentation in Cnr fruits.These results suggest that comparative WGBS coupled with VIGS can be used to identify genes that may contribute to the colourless unripe phenotype of fruit in the Cnr epimutant.Weiwei Chen Zhiming Yu Junhua Kong Hui Wang Yichen Li Mei Zhao Xiaohong Wang Qianqian Zheng Nongnong Shi Pengcheng Zhang Silin Zhong Paul Hunter Mahmut Tor Yiguo Hong 2018Science China(Life Sciences)2018,61,2:3
12An Organic Solvent-Assisted Intercalation and Collection (OAIC) for Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene with Controllable Sizes and Improved Yield显示文摘A good method of synthesizing Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)(MXene)is critical for ensuring its success in practical applications,e.g.,electromagnetic interference shielding,electrochemical energy storage,catalysis,sensors,and biomedicine.The main concerns focus on the moderation of the approach,yield,and product quality.Herein,a modified approach,organic solvent-assisted intercalation and collection,was developed to prepare Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) flakes.The new approach simultaneously solves all the concerns,featuring a low requirement for facility(centrifugation speed<4000 rpm in whole process),gram-level preparation with remarkable yield(46.3%),a good electrical conductivity(8672 S cm^(−1)),an outstanding capacitive performance(352 F g^(−1)),and easy control over the dimension of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) flakes(0.47–4.60μm^(2)).This approach not only gives a superb example for the synthesis of other MXene materials in laboratory,but sheds new light for the future mass production of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene.Danyao Qu Yingying Jian Lihao Guo Chen Su Ning Tang Xingmao Zhang Wenwen Hu Zheng Wang Zhenhuan Zhao Peng Zhong Peipei Li Tao Du Hossam Haick Weiwei Wu 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,11:2
13Dynamic materials fabricated from water soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing triethylene oxide groups显示文摘Pillar[n]arenes are a new kind of supramolecular macrocyclic hosts which have developed rapidly due to their unique topology and high functionality, giving rise to many applications in the construction of interesting and functional materials. Among them, water-soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing triethylene oxide (TEO) chains have drawn increasing research interest due to their advantageous properties. In this review, we summarized the recent progress of dynamic materials fabricated from water soluble pillar[n]arenes bearing TEO groups, including thermo responsive materials with lower critical solution temperature (LCST) behavior, cyclic host liquids, and smart windows. 17Enhanced Visible-light Photocatalytic Activity of g-C3N4/Nitrogen-doped Graphene Quantum Dots/TiO2 Ternary Heterojunctions for Ciprofloxacin Degradation with Narrow Band Gap and High Charge Carrier Mobility显示文摘Limited visible-light absorption and high recombination rate of photogenerated charges are two main drawbacks in g-C3Na-based photocatalysts.To solve these problems,g-CN4/nitrogen-doped graphene quantum dots(NGQDs)/TiO2 ternary heterojunctions were facilely prepared via a one-step calcining method.The morphology.structure,optical and electrochemical properties of g-C3NA/NGQDs/TiO2 were characterized and explored.The optimal g-CN4/NGODs/TiOz composite exhibits enhanced photocatalytic degradation performance of ciprofloxacin(CIP)compared with the as-prepared g-C3Na.TiO:(P25)and g-C3N4/TiO2 heterojunction under visible light irradia-tion.The apparent rate constant of the composite is around 6.43.4.03 and 2.30 times higher than those of g-C3N4,TiOz and g-C3N4/TiO2,respectively.The enhanced photocatalytic efficiency should be mainly attributed to the improvement of light absorption and charge separation and transfer efficiency,originating from the narrow band gap and high charge carrier mobility.The active species trapping experiments results showed that the ht and'02 were the main active species in the degradation process.A possible photocatalytic reaction mechanism of the g-C3N4/NGODs/TiO2 composite for the enhanced degradation of CIP under visible light irradiation was also proposed.CHEN Ting ZHONG Lei YANG Zhen MOU Zhigang LIU Lei WANG Yan SUN Jianhua LEI Weiwei 2020Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2020,36,6:1
