1Curative effect of acupuncture on quality of life in patient with depression: a clinical randomized single-blind placebo-controlled study显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of acupuncture on the quality of life in patients with depression by clinical randomized single-blind placebo-controlled study.METHODS:one hundred and sixty-three cases of depression according with the inclusion criteria were randomly divided into a group of acupuncture dredging liver and regulating flow of theosophy(group 1),a group of acupoint shallow stab(group 2)and a group of non-acupoint shallow stab(group 3)at 1∶1∶1 ratio,and treated with acu-puncture,moxibustion,and intradermal embedding of needle,twice a week,for a total of 12 weeks.Scale of Quality of Life(SF-36)was used to measure the scores at four different time points and evaluate the effect of acupuncture on the quality of life of the patients with depression.RESULTS:At each time point after treatment,in scores of the 8 items,physical function,physical role,bodily pain,general physical condition,energy,social function,emotional function and mental health there were statistically significant differences among the 3 groups(P<0.0125).CONCLUSION:Acupuncture can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with depression.Fan Ling Fu Wenbin Chen Zhao Xu Nenggui Liu Jianhua LǚAiping Li Ziping Su Shengyong Wu Taixiang Ou Aihua 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,2:12
2Battery Technologies for Grid-Level Large-Scale Electrical Energy Storage显示文摘Grid-level large-scale electrical energy storage(GLEES) is an essential approach for balancing the supply–demand of electricity generation, distribution, and usage. Compared with conventional energy storage methods, battery technologies are desirable energy storage devices for GLEES due to their easy modularization, rapid response, flexible installation, and short construction cycles. In general, battery energy storage technologies are expected to meet the requirements of GLEES such as peak shaving and load leveling, voltage and frequency regulation, and emergency response, which are highlighted in this perspective. Furthermore, several types of battery technologies, including lead–acid, nickel–cadmium, nickel–metal hydride, sodium–sulfur, lithium-ion, and flow batteries, are discussed in detail for the application of GLEES. 3Advances in the development of power supplies for the Internet of Everything显示文摘The Internet of Everything(IoE),which aims to realize information exchange and communications for anything with the Internet,has revolutionized our modern world.Serving as the driving force for devices in the IoE network,power supply systems play a fundamental role in the development of the IoE.However,due to the complexity,multifunctionality and wide-scale deployment of diverse applications,power supply systems face great challenges,including distribution,connection,charging technologies,and management.In this review,some challenges and advances in the development of both power supply systems and their units are presented.In the overall system-level field,establishing sustainable and maintenancefree power supply systems through wireless connections,efficient power management and integrated energy harvesting and storage systems is highlighted.Additionally,the main performance metrics of power supply units are discussed,including energy density,service life,and self-power ability.In addition,some directions of power quality assessment for both the system and unit levels of power supply systems are presented,aiming to provide insight into the future development of high-performance power supply systems for the IoE.Xiayue Fan Xiaorui Liu Wenbin Hu Cheng Zhong Jun Lu 2019InfoMat2019,1,2:11

5Foraging behavior of the Greater White-fronted Goose(Anser albifrons) wintering at Shengjin Lake: diet shifts and habitat use显示文摘Background: The habitat use and foraging behaviors of waterbirds are closely related to the distribution and abundance of their food resources. Reductions in food supply can cause waterbirds to shift their habitats and adjust their foraging behaviors to meet their nutritional requirements and increase fitness. Seasonal withdraw of the water levels in the river-connected lakes in the middle and lower Yangtze River floodplain provides abundant food resources for the wintering Greater White-fronted Goose(Anser albifrons). Sedge(Carex) meadows are critical foraging habitats for herbivorous waterbirds in the hydro-fluctuation belt, which changes with hydrological conditions and climate. This study aimed to examine the behavioral responses of the Greater White-fronted Goose to temporal-spatial changes of food availability in the Sedge meadows.Methods: Fields surveys were carried out at Shengjin Lake from November 2017 to April 2018. According to the phenology of Shengjin Lake, we divided the wintering season into three periods. The food density, minimum temperature, food items, grass height, and number of foraging geese were surveyed, and samples of the foraging behavior were collected. We analyzed the relationship of the foraging behavior and habitat use relative to the food resources, using correlation and linear regression analyses.Results: Along with the temporal-spatial variation and exploitation of food resources, the food abundance and items varied widely among the foraging sites. Over the whole wintering period, the foraging habitat with the highest utilization rate was the meadows, followed by the paddy fields, and then mudflats. Furthermore, the utilization of the meadows showed a bimodal distribution trend, while the paddy fields showed a unimodal trend, and a decreasing trend was seen in the mudflats over the whole wintering period. The results of the generalized linear model showed that the foraging rate was related to the food density and grass height, with a linearly increasing trend during the winter.Conclusions: With the change of food resources in the three habitats, the habitats used by the Greater White-fronted Geese shifted from meadows in the hydro-fluctuation belt to the paddy fields, and then back to the meadows. 7Carbon-based cathode materials for rechargeable zinc-air batteries: From current collectors to bifunctional integrated air electrodes显示文摘Rechargeable zinc-air batteries(ZABs)have attracted much attention as the next-generation energy conversion and storage devices due to the abundance and environmental friendliness of zinc(Zn)for anode materials,as well as the safety and low cost of aqueous electrolytes.However,rational design of nonprecious and low-cost integrated air cathode materials with a desirable bifunctional oxygen electrocatalytic performance remains a great challenge for the commercialization of rechargeable ZABs.In previous research studies,various cost-effective carbon-supported electrocatalysts and light-weight carbon-based current collectors for air cathodes have been developed,showing vast potential in the application of carbon-based materials.To improve the bifunctional performance and integration of air cathodes,efforts with respect to the design of morphology,defects,and synergistic effects of carbon-based materials have been made.In this perspective,the general understanding of the air cathode construction and the battery working mechanism is discussed.The recent progress in the design of carbon-based materials for air cathodes in rechargeable ZABs is summarized.Several possible future research directions and the expected development trends are also discussed,aiming to facilitate the commercialization of advanced rechargeable ZABs in our life.Jingkun Wu Bin Liu Xiayue Fan Jia Ding Xiaopeng Han Yida Deng Wenbin Hu Cheng Zhong 2020Carbon Energy2020,2,3:4

10Optical visualization and polarized light absorption of the single-wall carbon nanotube to verify intrinsic thermal applications显示文摘The predicted extraordinary properties of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)from theoretical calculations have great potential for many applications.However,reliable experimental determination of intrinsic properties at the single-tube level is currently a matter of concern,and many challenges remain because of the unhandled and nanoscale size of individual nanotubes.Here,we demonstrated a prototype to detect the intrinsic thermal conductivity of the single-wall carbon nanotube(SWCNT)and verify the significant non-resonant optical absorption behavior on tiny nanotubes by integrating the nanotube and ice into a new core-shell design.In particular,a reversible optical visualization method based on the individual suspended ultra-long SWCNT was first developed by wrapping a nanotube with ice in the cryogenic air environment.The light-induced thermal effect on the hybrid core-shell structure was used tomelt the ice shell,which subsequently acted as a temperature sensor to verify the intrinsic thermal conductivity of the core-like nanotube.More interestingly,we successfully determined for the first time the thermal response phenomenon of the tiny absorption cross section in SWCNT in the vertical-polarization configuration and the significant non-resonant absorption behavior in the parallel-polarization configuration.These investigations will provide a better understanding for the unique optical behaviors of CNT and enable the detection of intrinsic properties of various one-dimensional nanostructures such as nanotubes,nanowires,and nanoribbons.Xiao Zhang Li Song Le Cai Xuezeng Tian Qiang Zhang Xiaoying Qi Wenbin Zhou Nan Zhang Feng Yang Qingxia Fan Yanchun Wang Huaping Liu Xuedong Bai Weiya Zhou Sishen Xie 2015Light(Science & Applications)2015,4,1:2

12Mesoporous silica stabilized MOF nanoreactor for highly selective semi-hydrogenation of phenylacetylene via synergistic effect of Pd and Ru single site显示文摘Selective semi-hydrogenation of phenylacetylene to styrene is a crucial step in the polystyrene industry.Although Pd-based catalysts are widely used in this reaction due to their excellent hydrogenation activity,the selectivity for styrene remains a great challenge.Herein,we designed a mesoporous silica stabilized Pd-Ru@ZIF-8(MS Pd-Ru@ZIF-8)nanoreactor with novel Pd and Ru single site synergistic catalytical system for semi-hydrogenation of phenylacetylene.The nanoreactor exhibited a superior performance,achieving 98%conversion of phenylacetylene and 96%selectivity to styrene.Turnover frequency(TOF)of nanoreactor was up to as high as 2,188 h^(−1),which was 25 times and 5 times more than the single metal species catalysts,mesoporous silica stabilized Pd@ZIF-8 nanoreactor(MS Pd@ZIF-8),and mesoporous silica stabilized Ru@ZIF-8 nanoreactor(MS Ru@ZIF-8).This catalytic activity was attributed to the synergistic effect of Pd and Ru single site anchored strongly into the framework of ZIF-8,which reduced the desorption energy of styrene and increased the hydrogenation energy barrier of styrene.Importantly,since the ordered mesoporous silica was introduced into the nanoreactor shell to stabilize ZIF-8,MS Pd-Ru@ZIF-8 showed excellent reusability and stability.After the five cycles,the catalytical activity and selectivity still remained.This work provides insights for a synergistic catalytic system based on single-site active sites for selective hydrogenation reactions.Zhenxing Li Mingliang Hu Jiahao Liu Weiwei Wang Yanjie Li Wenbin Fan Yixuan Gong Jiasai Yao Ping Wang Miao He Yongle Li 2022Nano Research2022,15,3:2
13Meta-analysis of 20 clinical,randomized,controlled trials of acupuncture for depression显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To determine the efficacy of acupuncture in the treatment of depression by performing systematical reviews and meta-analysis from 20 articles of clinical,randomized,controlled studies. DATA SOURCES:A computer-based online search of PubMed Database,Chinese Biological Medicine Database(VIP database) ,China Knowledge Database,and Wanfang Database was performed to search articles published between January 1999 and September 2009. DATA SELECTION:Inclusion criteria:articles published in official academic journals;articles with definite diagnostic criteria and acknowledgment;articles involving subjects with depression or depressive disorders,with no limitations to age,sex,or source;articles involving acupuncture-related therapies(including acupuncture needle,electro-acupuncture,moxibustion,abdominal acupuncture,etc.) as the primary means of intervention;articles of randomized controlled trials or involving 'randomized controlled','randomized grouping',or 'random'. Jadad scores were utilized to evaluate quality of included articles. Review Manage 4.2.7 software was used to evaluate efficacy of acupuncture in treating depression,and Hamilton Depression Rating Scale(HAMD) score,Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) score,and meta-analysis were used to evaluate clinical efficacy. Meta-analysis of a fixed effect model was performed when P > 0.05 or P > 0.01 in the test for heterogeneity. Meta-analysis of the random effect model was performed when P ≤ 0.05. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Efficacy rate,HAMD scores,and SDS scores. RESULTS:Quality evaluation of the 20 selected clinical,randomized,controlled trials demonstrated baseline equilibrium and randomness,although a considerable number of randomized studies simply mentioned 'random' without describing a specific method. Therefore,the reliability of randomness was relatively low. An envelope to hide the information was not used,and proper blinding was difficult to implement due to the innate features of acupuncture. The follow-up rate was low,and reasons for dropout were not explored. Therefore,it was not possible to objectively evaluate the study results. In addition,the study did not estimate sample size;it was unclear whether the sample was truly representative of general characteristics. Meta-analysis showed that acupuncture monotherapy exhibited similar efficacy to Western medicine for treating depression:combined effect size OR = 1.66,95% CI:0.59-4.65,combined effect value test:Z = 0.97,P = 0.33. Comparison of the efficacy of acupuncture combination therapy with Western medicine demonstrated a combined effect size OR = 2.46,95% CI:1.64-3.71 and combined effect of the value of Z = 4.32(P < 0.01) ,implying that there was insufficient evidence to prove a superior effect of acupuncture combination therapy over Western medicine. In terms of HAMD and SDS scores,the weighted mean difference was-2.01 and-8.68,respectively,with 95% CI:-3.48 to 0.53,-11.21 to-6.16(P < 0.01) ,suggesting that acupuncture efficacy was significantly better than the control group. CONCLUSION:The efficacy of acupuncture monotherapy was similar to Western medicine for treating depression.
