1Effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance,intestinal development,and immune response of weaned piglets challenged with lipopolysaccharide显示文摘Background: Weanling pigs, with immature immune system and physiological function, usually experience postweaning diarrhea. This study determined the effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance, diarrhea, and immunity of weaned pigs challenged with lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Methods: In Experiment(Exp.) 1,144 weaned piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to six groups,with six replicates per group and four pigs per replicate, receiving a control diet(CON) or diet supplemented with antibiotics(AB) or C. butyricum(CB)(0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.8%), respectively. All diets in Exp. 1 were a highly digestible basal diet, with 3,000 mg/kg zinc oxide supplied in the first 2 wk only. In Exp. 2, 180 piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to five groups, with six replicates per group and six pigs per replicate, receiving CON, AB, or CB(0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.6%) diets. The digestibility of diets was lower than those in Exp. 1, and did not include zinc oxide. At 36 d of Exp. 2, 12 piglets were selected from each of the CON and 0.4% CB groups, six piglets were intraperitoneally injected with LPS(50 μg/kg body weight) and the other six piglets with normal saline;animals were killed at 4 h after injection to collect blood, intestine, and digesta samples for biochemical analysis.Results: In Exp. 1, CB and AB diets had no effect on growth performance of piglets. In Exp. 2, 0.4% CB decreased feed-gain ratio(P < 0.1), diarrhea score(P < 0.05), and increased duodenal, jejunal, and ileal villus height and jejunal villus height/crypt depth(P < 0.05). The 0.4% CB decreased the plasma tumor necrosis factor(TNF) α(P < 0.05) but increased ileal mucosa IL-10 and TLR2 mRNA expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, 0.4% CB altered the microbial profile, with Bacillus and Ruminococcaceae UGG-003 at genus level and Lactobacillus casei and Parasutterella secunda at species level were higher than CON in colonic content(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Dietary C. butyricum supplementation had positive effects on growth of weaned piglets with less digestible diets. There was a tendency to reduce the feed-gain ratio, which could reduce feed costs in pig production. 2RECTANGLE: a bit-slice lightweight block cipher suitable for multiple platforms显示文摘In this paper, we propose a new lightweight block cipher named RECTANGLE. The main idea of the design of RECTANGLE is to allow lightweight and fast implementations using bit-slice techniques. RECTANGLE uses an SP-network. The substitution layer consists of 16 4 × 4 S-boxes in parallel. The permutation layer is composed of 3 rotations. As shown in this paper, RECTANGLE offers great performance in both hardware and software environment, which provides enough flexibility for different application scenario. The following are3 main advantages of RECTANGLE. First, RECTANGLE is extremely hardware-friendly. For the 80-bit key version, a one-cycle-per-round parallel implementation only needs 1600 gates for a throughput of 246 Kbits/s at100 k Hz clock and an energy efficiency of 3.0 p J/bit. Second, RECTANGLE achieves a very competitive software speed among the existing lightweight block ciphers due to its bit-slice style. Using 128-bit SSE instructions,a bit-slice implementation of RECTANGLE reaches an average encryption speed of about 3.9 cycles/byte for messages around 3000 bytes. Last but not least, we propose new design criteria for the RECTANGLE S-box.Due to our careful selection of the S-box and the asymmetric design of the permutation layer, RECTANGLE achieves a very good security-performance tradeoff. 3Implementation and security analysis of practical quantum secure direct communication显示文摘Rapid development of supercomputers and the prospect of quantum computers are posing increasingly serious threats to the security of communication.Using the principles of quantum mechanics,quantum communication offers provable security of communication and is a promising solution to counter such threats.Quantum secure direct communication(QSDC)is one important branch of quantum communication.In contrast to other branches of quantum communication,it transmits secret information directly.Recently,remarkable progress has been made in proof-of-principle experimental demonstrations of QSDC.However,it remains a technical feat to bring QSDC into a practical application.Here,we report the implementation of a practical quantum secure communication system.The security is analyzed in the Wyner wiretap channel theory.The system uses a coding scheme of concatenation of lowdensity parity-check(LDPC)codes and works in a regime with a realistic environment of high noise and high loss.The present system operates with a repetition rate of 1 MHz at a distance of 1.5 kilometers.The secure communication rate is 50 bps,sufficient to effectively send text messages and reasonably sized files of images and sounds.Ruoyang Qi Zhen Sun Zaisheng Lin Penghao Niu Wentao Hao Liyuan Song Qin Huang Jiancun Gao Liuguo Yin Gui-Lu Long 2019Light(Science & Applications)2019,8,1:15
4Red-emitting YAG:Ce,Mn transparent ceramics for warm WLEDs application显示文摘A series of YAG:Ce,Mn transparent ceramics were prepared via a solid-state reaction-vacuum sintering method.The effects of various Mn^2+–Si4+pair doping levels on the structure,transmittance,and luminescence properties were systematically investigated.These transparent ceramics have average grain sizes of 10–16μm,clean grain boundaries,and excellent transmittance up to 83.4%at 800 nm.Under the excitation of 460 nm,three obvious emission peaks appear at 533,590,and 745 nm,which can be assigned to the transition 5 d→4 f of Ce^3+and 4 T1→6 A1 of Mn^2+.Thus,the Mn^2+–Si4+pairs can effectively modulate the emission spectrum by compensating broad orange-red and red spectrum component to yield high quality warm white light.After the optimized YAG:Ce,Mn transparent ceramic packaged with blue light-emitting diode(LED)chips,correlated color temperature(CCT)as low as 3723 K and luminous efficiency(LE)as high as 96.54 lm/W were achieved,implying a very promising candidate for application in white light-emitting diodes(WLEDs)industry.Junrong LING Youfu ZHOU Wentao XU He LIN Shuai LU Bin WANG Kun WANG 2020Journal of Advanced Ceramics2020,9,1:15
5Cytocompatibility with osteogenic cells and enhanced in vivo anti-infection potential of quaternized chitosan-loaded titania nanotubes显示文摘Infection is one of the major causes of failure of orthopedic implants. Our previous study demonstrated that nanotube modification of the implant surface, together with nanotubes loaded with quaternized chitosan(hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan, HACC), could effectively inhibit bacterial adherence and biofilm formation in vitro. Therefore, the aim of this study was to further investigate the in vitro cytocompatibility with osteogenic cells and the in vivo anti-infection activity of titanium implants with HACC-loaded nanotubes(NT-H). The titanium implant(Ti), nanotubes without polymer loading(NT), and nanotubes loaded with chitosan(NT-C) were fabricated and served as controls. Firstly, we evaluated the cytocompatibility of these specimens with human bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells in vitro.The observation of cell attachment, proliferation, spreading, and viability in vitro showed that NT-H has improved osteogenic activity compared with Ti and NT-C. A prophylaxis rat model with implantation in the femoral medullary cavity and inoculation with methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus was established and evaluated by radiographical, microbiological, and histopathological assessments. Our in vivo study demonstrated that NT-H coatings exhibited significant anti-infection capability compared with the Ti and NT-C groups. 8Theoretical and experimental study of 2D conformability of stretchable electronics laminated onto skin显示文摘Smoothly attaching the stretchable epidermal electronic devices(EEDs) onto the skin surface is highly desired to improve the measurement accuracy of electrophysiological signal.The paper presents an analytical approach to study interfacial mechanics of the 2D planar EEDs on the checkerboard buckling patterns of human skin.Energy variation method is proposed to determine a criterion whether EEDs laminate conformally onto the skin surface under undeformed and stretched cases.EEDs with low bending stiffness(thin,soft devices/backing layer),smooth and soft skin,and strong adhesion promote conformal contact.Furthermore,the adhesion energy at the EED/skin interface is measured by the homemade peeling experiment platform with different substrate thicknesses and areal coverages.The upper limit of the areal coverage for EED conformal contact with the skin is proposed with given EED/skin properties.Conformability of EEDs are validated by experiments with different substrate thickness,areal coverage and external loadings.It provides a design guideline for EED to conformally contact with the skin surface for more accurate biological signal monitoring.DONG WenTao XIAO Lin ZHU Chen YE Dong WANG ShuoDao HUANG YongAn YIN ZhouPing 2017Science China(Technological Sciences)2017,60,9:4
9A review on protection of DC microgrids显示文摘The DC microgrid has become a typical distribution network due to its excellent performance. However,a well-designed protection scheme still remains a challenge for DC microgrids. At present, researches on DC microgrids primarily focus on the topology structure, control method and energy control, while researches on fault analysis, detection and isolation have not drawn enough attention. Therefore, this paper intends to depict the current research status in different relative areas and review the proposed protection strategies in order to help researchers have a clear understanding on DC microgrid protection.Meanwhile, to solve the protection issues and promote the development of the DC microgrids, this paper points out the key areas of future researches. The future protection researchdirections lie in the development of novel protection devices, which are based on electronic technology to provide loose protection constraints and the improvement of suitable protection schemes. 10Selective laser melting of dense and crack-free AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) eutectic high entropy alloy: Synergizing strength and ductility显示文摘Additively manufactured high-entropy alloys generally suffer from low strength and/or poor ductility.In this work,by leveraging the good castability of eutectic high entropy alloys and high cooling rate of selective laser melting(SLM),we report a nearly fully dense and crack-free as-SLM AlCoCrFeNi_(2.1) eutectic high entropy alloy with an exceptional strength-ductility synergy,showing an ultrahigh yield strength of 982.1±35.2 MPa and an ultimate tensile strength of 1322.8±54.9 MPa together with an elongation to fracture of 12.3±0.5%.Such strength-ductility enhancement is owing to the heterogeneous eutectic microstructure consisting of the columnar,equiaxed,and“L-shape”cells with much refined sizes down to nanoscales.The morphology of cells in the transition zone is related to the misorientation between the growth direction of adjacent layers.This heterogeneous eutectic microstructure is the result of the graingrowth behavior dominated by the mechanisms of the epitaxial growth and growth of heterogeneous nuclei in SLM.Our current results provide a new methodology for the future design of ultrahigh-strength and ductile SLM-fabricated metallic materials including HEAs,and other printable alloys for various structural applications.Lin He Shiwei Wu Anping Dong Haibin Tang Dafan Du Guoliang Zhu Baode Sun Wentao Yan 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,22:2
11Stretchable human-machine interface based on skin-conformal sEMG electrodes with self-similar geometry显示文摘Current stretchable surface electrodes have attracted increasing attention owing to their potential applications in biological signal monitoring, wearable human-machine interfaces(HMIs) and the Internet of Things. The paper proposed a stretchable HMI based on a surface electromyography(sEMG) electrode with a self-similar serpentine configuration. The sEMG electrode was transfer-printed onto the skin surface conformally to monitor biological signals, followed by signal classification and controlling of a mobile robot. Such electrodes can bear rather large deformation(such as >30%) under an appropriate areal coverage. The sEMG electrodes have been used to record electrophysiological signals from different parts of the body with sharp curvature, such as the index finger,back of the neck and face, and they exhibit great potential for HMI in the fields of robotics and healthcare. The electrodes placed onto the two wrists would generate two different signals with the fist clenched and loosened. It is classified to four kinds of signals with a combination of the gestures from the two wrists, that is, four control modes. 14HIV-1 Vpr protein activates the NF-κB pathway to promote G2/M cell cycle arrest显示文摘Viral protein R(Vpr) plays an important role in the replication and pathogenesis of Human immunodeficiency virus type 1(HIV-1). Some of the various functions attributed to Vpr, including the induction of G2/M cell cycle arrest, activating the NF-κB pathway, and promoting viral reverse transcription, might be interrelated. To test this hypothesis, a panel of Vpr mutants were investigated for their ability to induce G2/M arrest and to activate the NF-κB pathway. The results showed that the Vpr mutants that failed to activate NF-κB also lost the activity to induce G2/M arrest, which suggests that inducing G2/M arrest via Vpr depends at least partially on the activation of NF-κB. 16Construction of one dimensional ZnWO4@SnWO4 core-shell heterostructure for boosted photocatalytic performance显示文摘The one-dimensional ZnWO4@SnWO4 photocatalyst with a core-shell heterostructure was successfully constructed by a simple two-step method. It is interesting to note that ZnWO4@SnWO4 composite photocatalyst owns a higher photocatalytic activity for Rh B degradation under visible light irradiation. The introduction of SnWO4 shell layer, which forms a clear heterogenous interface between ZnWO4 and SnWO4, increases the photo-absorption efficiency of ZnWO4 nanorods. In addition, its band-edge absorption evidently shifts toward the visible region. Based on the photoelectrochemical(PEC) and electron spin resonance(ESR) measurements, it is found that the photocatalytic activity was attributed to the efficient separation and transfer of photo-generated charge carriers. 17Nanozyme Enhanced Colorimetric Immunoassay for Naked-Eye Detection of Salmonella Enteritidis显示文摘Salmonella Enteritidis is a major public health threat of global proportions,while it is still a serious challenge to develop point-of-care detection assay.In this study,nanozymes(Fe-MOF nanoparticles)were successfully synthesized and applied as signal in a colorimetric immunoassay for naked-eye detection of Salmonella Enteritidis.After optimization,the proposed assay was able to detect Salmonella Enteritidis with a detection limit of 34 CFU/mL.The coefficients of variation(CV)of the test were less than 7.0%after 30 days storage at 4°C.The estimated recoveries in milk samples of the colorimetric immu-noassay range from 94.68 to 124%,which indicated the developed method is capable of detecting Salmonella Enteritidis in real samples.This method provides a potential platform for Salmonella detection with naked eyes,which has a significant application value for foodborne pathogen analysis at the point-of-care.Nan Cheng Chengzhou Zhu Yinling Wang Dan Du Mei-Jun Zhu Yunbo Luo Wentao Xu Yuehe Lin 2019Journal of Analysis and Testing2019,3,1:1

19Simultaneous and systematic analysis of cellular and viral gene expression during Enterovirus 71-induced host shutoff显示文摘Dear Editor, Enteroviruses, including poliovirus, enterovirus 71 (EV71), enterovirus 68, coxsackievirus A16, cause millions of infections every year. The infection can lead to serious human diseases and is a significant public health problem. Among them, EV71 is an emerging pathogen that causes severe hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD) and neurological disease, especially in young children. Currently, there is no effective treatment to EV71-caused diseases, partially blaming to a lack of understanding EV71 replication mechanism (Solomon et al., 2010). As a member of Picornaviri-dae, EV71 infection induces a rapid induction of host shutoff, which is marked by the inhibition of cellular protein synthesis (Holland, 1963). In the meantime, viral protein synthesis takes over the cellular translational machinery. It is believed that the cellular protein synthesis shutoff benefits viral replication by relocating cellular resources and facilitating viral escape from host cell immune responses (Cao et al., 2017). Both transcription and translation inhibition have been suggested to contribute to the host protein synthesis shutoff during picornavirus infection (Holland, 1963;Belsham, 2009). 20Data Mining for Mesoscopic Simulation of Electron Beam Selective Melting显示文摘In the electron beam selective melting(EBSM)process,the quality of each deposited melt track has an effect on the properties of the manufactured component.However,the formation of the melt track is governed by various physical phenomena and influenced by various process parameters,and the correlation of these parameters is complicated and difficult to establish experimentally.The mesoscopic modeling technique was recently introduced as a means of simulating the electron beam(EB)melting process and revealing the formation mechanisms of specific melt track morphologies.However,the correlation between the process parameters and the melt track features has not yet been quantitatively understood.This paper investigates the morphological features of the melt track from the results of mesoscopic simulation,while introducing key descriptive indexes such as melt track width and height in order to numerically assess the deposition quality.The effects of various processing parameters are also quantitatively investigated,and the correlation between the processing conditions and the melt track features is thereby derived.Finally,a simulation-driven optimization framework consisting of mesoscopic modeling and data mining is proposed,and its potential and limitations are discussed.Ya Qian Wentao Yan Feng Lin 2019Engineering2019,5,4:1
