| 1 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). | 2 | Immunoregulatory effects of Tripterygium wilfordii Hook Fand its extracts in clinical practice显示文摘Tripterygium wilfordii Hook F (TwHF) and its extracts have long been used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune diseases, and kidney disease due to their anti-inflammatory, immunoregulatory, and other pharmacological effects. However, the clinical immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts remain unclear, so we reviewed their effects for use in clinical practice. This review provides a comprehensive summary of the recent literature on the immunoregulatory effects of TwHF and its extracts in clinical studies. TwHF and its extracts affect the proliferation and activation of T and B cells;ratio of T cell subsets;inflammatory response of monocytes, macrophages, and immunoglobulins;and secretion of many cytokines. Together, these effects dictate immune function in a variety of diseases. | 6 | Aqueous-phase catalytic hydrogenation of furfural to cyclopentanol over Cu-Mg-Al hydrotalcites derived catalysts:Model reaction for upgrading of bio-oil显示文摘A series of Cu-Mg-Al hydrotalcites derived oxides with a(Cu+Mg)/Al mole ratio of 3 and varied Cu/Mg mole ratio(from 0.07 to 0.30) were prepared by co-precipitation and calcination methods, then they were introduced to the hydrogenation of furfural in aqueous-phase. Effects of Cu/Mg mole ratio, reaction temperature, initial hydrogen pressure, reaction time and catalyst amount on the conversion rate of furfural as well as the selectivity toward desired product cyclopentanol were systematically investigated. The conversion of furfural over calcined hydrotalcite catalyst with a Cu/Mg mole ratio of 0.2 was up to 98.5% when the reaction was carried out under 140 ?C and the initial hydrogen pressure of 4 MPa for 10 h, while the selectivity toward cyclopentanol was up to 94.8%. The catalysts were characterized by XRD and SEM. XRD diffraction of all the samples showed characteristic pattern of hydrotalcite with varied peak intensity as a result of different Cu content. | 7 | BRAF^(V600E) vs. TIRADS in predicting papillary thyroid cancers in Bethesda system Ⅰ, Ⅲ, and Ⅴ nodules显示文摘Objective: Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology(BSRTC) categories Ⅰ, Ⅲ, and Ⅴaccount for a significant proportion of fine needle aspiration cytology(FNAC) diagnoses. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic efficacy of BRAF^(V600E) mutation and the Thyroid Imaging Reporting and Data System(TIRADS) classification in differentiating papillary thyroid cancers(PTCs) from benign lesions among BSRTC I, III, and V nodules.Methods: A total of 472 patients with 479 nodules were enrolled in this prospective study. Ultrasound, BRAF^(V600E) mutation testing, and FNAC were performed in each nodule, followed by surgery or regular ultrasound examination.Results: In the BSRTC I category, BRAF^(V600E) showed similar sensitivity, higher specificity, and lower accuracy when compared with TIRADS. In the BSRTC III/V category, the sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of BRAF^(V600E) were similar to those of TIRADS. In comparison to BRAF^(V600E) alone, the combination of the two methods significantly improved sensitivity(BSRTC Ⅰ:93.6% vs. 67.7%, P < 0.01; BSRTC Ⅲ: 93.8% vs. 75.0%, P < 0.01; BSRTC V: 96.0% vs. 85.3%, P < 0.001). When compared with TIRADS alone, the combination improved sensitivity in BSRTC Ⅰ nodules(93.6% vs. 74.2%, P < 0.05), increased sensitivity and decreased accuracy in BSRTC III nodules(93.8% vs. 75.0%, P < 0.01, 91.0% vs. 93.6%, P < 0.01), and improved both sensitivity and accuracy in BSRTC V nodules(96.0% vs. 82.0%, P < 0.001; 94.2% vs. 81.3%, P < 0.001).Conclusions: BRAF^(V600E) exhibited higher specificity and lower accuracy compared with TIRADS in BSRTC Ⅰ nodules, while the two methods showed similar diagnostic value in BSRTC Ⅲ/Ⅴ nodules. | 8 | Circumjacent distribution pattern of the Lungmachian graptolitic black shale(early Silurian) on the Yichang Uplift and its peripheral region显示文摘Stratigraphic hiatuses of variable time intervals within the Rhuddanian to early Aeronian(Llandovery, Silurian) are identified in the area bordering East Chongqing, West Hubei and Northwest Hunan in central China. Their distribution suggested the existence of a local uplift, traditionally named the Yichang Uplift. The diachronous nature of the basal black shale of the Lungmachi Formation crossing different belts of this Uplift signifies the various developing stages during the uplifting process.The present paper defines the temporal and spatial distribution pattern of the Yichang Uplift, which might be one of the important controlling factors for the preservation and distribution of the shale gas in this region, as it has been demonstrated that the shale gas exploration is generally less promising in the areas where more of the basal part of the Lungmachi Formation is missing.Therefore, better understanding of the circumjacent distribution pattern developed throughout the uplifting process may provide the important guidance for the shale gas exploration. The present work is a sister study to the published paper, 'Stage-progressive distribution pattern of the Lungmachian black graplolitic shales from Guizhou to Chongqing, Central China'. | 10 | Chimeric antigen receptor T cells in solid tumors: a war against the tumor microenvironment显示文摘Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR) T cell is a novel approach, which utilizes anti-tumor immunity for cancer treatment. As compared to the traditional cell-mediated immunity, CAR-T possesses the improved specificity of tumor antigens and independent cytotoxicity from major histocompatibility complex molecules through a monoclonal antibody in addition to the Tcell receptor. CAR-T cell has proven its effectiveness, primarily in hematological malignancies, specifically where the CD19 CAR-T cells were used to treat B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia and B-cell lymphomas. Nevertheless, there is little progress in the treatment of solid tumors despite the fact that many CAR agents have been created to target tumor antigens such as CEA,EGFR/EGFRvIII, GD2, HER2, MSLN, MUC1, and other antigens. The main obstruction against the progress of research in solid tumors is the tumor microenvironment, in which several elements, such as poor locating ability, immunosuppressive cells,cytokines, chemokines, immunosuppressive checkpoints, inhibitory metabolic factors, tumor antigen loss, and antigen heterogeneity, could affect the potency of CAR-T cells. To overcome these hurdles, researchers have reconstructed the CAR-T cells in various ways. | 11 | Optical observations of LIGO source GW 170817 by the Antarctic Survey Telescopes at Dome A,Antarctica显示文摘The LIGO detection of gravitational waves(GW) from merging black holes in 2015 marked the beginning of a new era in observational astronomy. The detection of an electromagnetic signal from a GW source is the critical next step to explore in detail the physics involved. The Antarctic Survey Telescopes(AST3),located at Dome A, Antarctica, is uniquely situated for rapid response time-domain astronomy with its continuous night-time coverage during the austral winter. We report optical observations of the GW source(GW 170817) in the nearby galaxy NGC 4993 using AST3. The data show a rapidly fading transient at around 1 day after the GW trigger, with the i-band magnitude declining from 17:23 ± 0:13 magnitude to 17:72 ± 0:09 magnitude in ~1:8 h. The brightness and time evolution of the optical transient associated with GW 170817 are broadly consistent with the predictions of models involving merging binary neutron stars. | 13 | Promoter methylation of Wnt/β-Catenin signal inhibitor TMEM88 is associated with unfavorable prognosis of nonsmall cell lung cancer显示文摘Objective:Recent research has indicated that altered promoter methylation of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes is an important mechanism in lung cancer development and progression.In this study,we investigated the association between promoter methylation of TMEM88,a possible inhibitor of the Wnt/β-Catenin signaling,and the survival of patients with nonsmall cell lung cancer(NSCLC).Methods:Twelve pairs of tumor and adjacent non-tumor samples were used for microarray analyses of DNA methylation and gene expression.For validation,more than two hundred additional samples were analyzed for methylation using bisulfite pyrosequencing and for gene expression using q RT-PCR.Then the cell function were tested by wound healing,transwell,CCK8 and cell cycle assay.Results:Our analysis of patient specimens showed that TMEM88 methylation was higher in NSCLC tumors(82.2%±10.3,P<0.01)compared with the adjacent normal tissues(65.9%±7.2).The survival analysis revealed that patients with high TMEM88methylation had a shorter overall survival(46 months)compared with patients with low TMEM88 methylation(>56 months;P=0.021).In addition,we found that demethylation treatment could inhibit tumor cell proliferation,migration,and invasion,which was supportive of an association between methylation and survival.Conclusions:Based on these consistent observations,we concluded that TMEM88 may play an important role in NSCLC progression and that promoter methylation of TMEM88 may serve as a biomarker for NSCLC prognosis and treatment. | Rongna Ma Nannan Feng Xiao Yu Hongyan Lin Xiaohong Zhang Oumin Shi Huan Zhang Shuo Zhang Lei Li Min Zheng Ming Gao Herbert Yu Biyun Qian | 2017 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2017,14,4: | 6 |
| 14 | Knockdown of long non-coding RNA LCPAT1 inhibits autophagy in lung cancer显示文摘Objective: Long non-coding RNAs(lnc RNAs) are involved in numerous biological processes in lung cancer cells. In our previous studies, we identified a lnc RNA, ENST00000439577, which is highly expressed in lung carcinomas, and termed it lung cancer progression-associated transcript 1(LCPAT1). To characterize the role of LCPAT1 in lung cancer, we conducted the current study.Methods: Expression of LCPAT1 and autophagy-associated markers in tumor tissues and lung cancer cell lines was determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(q PCR). Hematoxylin and eosin(HE) staining, q PCR, Western blot, and immunohistochemistry were performed to evaluate xenografted tumor tissues. Autophagy induced by rapamycin was detected by Western blot and immunofluorescence in lung cancer cell lines.Results: Expression of LCPAT1 and microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta(LC3B) was positively correlated in lung cancer. Knockdown of LCPAT1 inhibited tumor growth and suppressed cell autophagy in vivo. | 15 | Systematic analysis of intron size and abundance parameters in diverse lineages显示文摘All eukaryotic genomes have genes with introns in variable sizes.As far as spliceosomal introns are concerned,there are at least three basic parameters to stratify introns across diverse eukaryotic taxa:size,number,and sequence context.The number parameter is highly variable in lower eukaryotes,especially among protozoan and fungal species,which ranges from less than4%to 78%of the genes.Over greater evolutionary time scales,the number parameter undoubtedly increases as observed in higher plants and higher vertebrates,reaching greater than 12.5 exons per gene in average among mammalian genomes.The size parameter is more complex,where multiple modes appear at work.Aside from intronless genes,there are three other types of intron-containing genes:half-sized,minimal,and size-expandable introns.The half-sized introns have only been found in a limited number of genomes among protozoan and fungal lineages and the other two types are prevalent in all animal and plant genomes.Among the size-expandable introns,the sizes of plant introns are expansion-limited in that the large introns exceeding 1000 bp are fewer in numbers and transposon-free as compared to the large introns among animals,where the larger introns are filled with transposable elements and appear expansion-flexible,reaching several kilobasepairs(kbp)and even thousands of kbp in size.Most of the intron parameters can be studied as signatures of the specific splicing machineries of different eukaryotic lineages and are highly relevant to the regulation of gene expression and functionality.In particular,the transcription-splicing-export coupling of eukaryotic intron dispensing leads to a working hypothesis that all intron parameters are evolved to be efficient and function-related in processing and routing the spliced transcripts. | WU JiaYan XIAO JingFa WANG LingPing ZHONG Jun YIN HongYan WU ShuangXiu ZHANG Zhang YU Jun | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,10: | 4 |
| 16 | In situ investigation of SiC powder's microwave sintering by SR-CT technique显示文摘Microwave sintering is being developed as a novel technique for the preparation of dense structural ceramics,but the mature theory has not been established due to the technical difficulties.The synchrotron radiation X-ray computed tomography(SR-CT) technique was introduced for the first time into the study of microwave sintering to in-situ observe the microstructure evolution of silicon carbide(SiC) material in this paper.By applying the SR-CT technique,the reconstructed 2D and 3D images of the specimen were obtained and the double logarithm curve of mean neck size and time(Ln(x)-Ln(t)) were obtained from these reconstructed images.Various sintering phenomena including sintering neck growth during microwave treatment were observed from the reconstructed images.Furthermore,the differences in microstructure evolution and sintering kinetics between microwave and conventional sintering were analyzed based on the reconstructed images and the Ln(x)-Ln(t) curve.1) The sharp surface of grains near the contact region distinctly grew blunt and the sintering neck growth between these grains were obviously observed at the early stage.Besides,the larger particles grew faster than smaller ones.The main reason for these phenomena may be the micro-focusing effect of electric fields.2) During each of the three sintering stages,the sintering kinetics curve of double logarithm relationship between mean neck size and time shows a good linear relationship,but at the middle stage the slope of the curve increases dramatically,which is quite larger than conventional sintering.The preliminary interpretation for these extraordinary phenomena has been discussed in details. | LI YongCun XU Feng HU XiaoFang QU HongYan MIAO Hong ZHANG Zhong XIAO TiQiao | 2011 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2011,54,6: | 4 |
