| 2 | Effects of dietary protein restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and m TORC1 pathway in the skeletal muscle of growing-finishing pigs显示文摘Background: To investigate the effects of dietary crude protein(CP) restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and key regulators related to protein deposition in skeletal muscle, a total of 18 growing-finishing pigs(62.30 ± 0.88 kg)were allotted to 3 groups and fed with the recommended adequate protein(AP, 16 % CP) diet, moderately restricted protein(MP, 13 % CP) diet and low protein(LP, 10 % CP) diet, respectively. The skeletal muscle of different locations in pigs, including longissimus dorsi muscle(LDM), psoas major muscle(PMM) and biceps femoris muscle(BFM) were collected and analyzed.Results: Results showed that growing-finishing pigs fed the MP or AP diet improved(P < 0.01) the average daily gain and feed: gain ratio compared with those fed the LP diet, and the MP diet tended to increase(P = 0.09) the weight of LDM. Moreover, the ATP content and energy charge value were varied among muscle samples from different locations of pigs fed the reduced protein diets. We also observed that pigs fed the MP diet up-regulated(P < 0.05) muscular m RNA expression of all the selected key genes, except that myosin heavy chain(My HC) IIb,My HC IIx, while m RNA expression of ubiquitin ligases genes was not affected by dietary CP level. | 3 | The strategies of advanced cathode composites for lithium-sulfur batteries显示文摘Lithium-sulfur batteries have been widely nominated as one of the most promising next-generation electrochemical storage systems due to its low cost, high capacity and energy density. However, its practical application is still hindered by poor cycling lifetime, low Coulombic efficiency, instability and small scales. In the last decade, the electrochemical performances of the lithium-sulfur batteries have been improved by developing various novel nanoarchitectures as qualified hosts, and enhancing the sulfur loading with effective encapsulating strategies. The review summarizes the major sulfur cooperating strategies of cathodes based on background and latest progress of the lithium-sulfur batteries. The novel cooperating strategies of physical techniques and chemical synthesis techniques are discussed in detail. Based on the rich chemistry of sulfur, we paid more attention to the highlights of sulfur encapsulating strategies. | 8 | The Influence of the Corrosion Product Layer Generated on the High Strength Low-Alloy Steels Welded by Underwater Wet Welding with Stainless Steel Electrodes in Seawater显示文摘The high strength low-alloy steels are welded by underwater wet welding with stainless steel electrodes. The microstructural and electrochemical corrosion study of base metal(BM), weld zone(WZ) and heat affected zone(HAZ) are carried out to understand the influence of the corrosion product layer generated on the high strength low-alloy steels welded by underwater wet welding with stainless steel electrodes, methods used including, potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and scanning electron microscope(SEM). The results indicate that the WZ acts as a cathode and there is no corrosion product on it throughout the immersion period in seawater. The HAZ and BM acts as anodes. The corrosion rates of the HAZ and BM change with the immersion time increasing. In the initial immersion period, the HAZ has the highest corrosion rate because it has a coarse tempered martensite structure and the BM exhibites a microstructure with very fine grains of ferrite and pearlite. After a period of immersion, the BM has the highest corrosion rate. | 9 | Machine Learning Models for Genetic Risk Assessment of Infants with Non-syndromic Orofacial Cleft显示文摘The isolated type of orofacial cleft, termed non-syndromic cleft lip with or without cleft palate(NSCL/P), is the second most common birth defect in China, with Asians having the highest incidence in the world. NSCL/P involves multiple genes and complex interactions between genetic and environmental factors, imposing difficulty for the genetic assessment of the unborn fetus carrying multiple NSCL/P-susceptible variants. Although genome-wide association studies(GWAS)have uncovered dozens of single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) loci in different ethnic populations, the genetic diagnostic effectiveness of these SNPs requires further experimental validation in Chinese populations before a diagnostic panel or a predictive model covering multiple SNPs can be built. In this study, we collected blood samples from control and NSCL/P infants inHan and Uyghur Chinese populations to validate the diagnostic effectiveness of 43 candidate SNPs previously detected using GWAS. We then built predictive models with the validated SNPs using different machine learning algorithms and evaluated their prediction performance. Our results showed that logistic regression had the best performance for risk assessment according to the area under curve. Notably, defective variants in MTHFR and RBP4, two genes involved in folic acid and vitamin A biosynthesis, were found to have high contributions to NSCL/P incidence based on feature importance evaluation with logistic regression. This is consistent with the notion that folic acid and vitamin A are both essential nutritional supplements for pregnant women to reduce the risk of conceiving an NSCL/P baby. | 10 | Optimal regenerative repair of large segmental bone defect in a goat model with osteoinductive calcium phosphate bioceramic implants显示文摘So far,how to achieve the optimal regenerative repair of large load-bearing bone defects using artificial bone grafts is a huge challenge in clinic.In this study,a strategy of combining osteoinductive biphasic calcium phosphate(BCP)bioceramic scaffolds with intramedullary nail fixation for creating stable osteogenic microenvironment was applied to repair large segmental bone defects(3.0 cm in length)in goat femur model.The material characterization results showed that the BCP scaffold had the initial compressive strength of over 2.0 MPa,and total porosity of 84%.The cell culture experiments demonstrated that the scaffold had the excellent ability to promote the proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of rat bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells(BMSCs).The in vivo results showed that the intramedullary nail fixation maintained the initial stability and structural integrity of the implants at early stage,promoting the osteogenic process both guided and induced by the BCP scaffolds.At 9 months postoperatively,good integration between the implants and host bone was observed,and a large amount of newborn bones formed,accompanying with the degradation of the material.At 18 months postoperatively,almost the complete new bone substitution in the defect area was achieved.The maximum bending strength of the repaired bone defects reached to the 100% of normal femur at 18 months post-surgery.Our results demonstrated the good potential of osteoinductive BCP bioceramics in the regenerative repair of large load-bearing bone defects.The current study could provide an effective method to treat the clinical large segmental bone defects. | Wei Zhi Xiaohua Wang Dong Sun Taijun Chen Bo Yuan Xiangfeng Li Xuening Chen Jianxin Wang Zhao Xie Xiangdong Zhu Kai Zhang Xingdong Zhang | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,5: | 3 |
| 11 | Effects of nano-pore system characteristics on CH4 adsorption capacity in anthracite显示文摘This study aims to determine the effects of nanoscale pores system characteristics on CH4 adsorption capacity in anthracite.A total of 24 coal samples from the southern Sichuan Basin,China,were examined systemically using coal maceral analysis,vitrinite reflectance tests, proximate analysis,ultimate analysis,low-temperature N2 adsorption-desorption experiments,nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)analysis,and CH4 isotherm adsorption experiments.Results show that nano-pores are divided into four types on the basis of pore size ranges:super micropores (<4 nm),micropores (4-10 nm),mesopores (10-100 nm),and macropores (>100 nm).Super micropores,micropores,and mesopores make up the bulk of coal porosity,providing extremely large adsorption space with large intemal surface area.This leads us to the conclusion that the threshold of pore diameter between adsorption pores and seepage pores is 100 nm.The 'ink bottle'pores have the largest CH4 adsorption capacity, followed by semi-opened pores,whereas opened pores have the smallest CH4 adsorption capacity which indicates that anthracite pores with more irregular shapes possess higher CH4 adsorption capacity.CH4 adsorption capacity increased with the increase in NMR porosity and the bound water saturation.Moreover,CH4 adsorption capacity is positively correlated with NMR permeability when NMR permeability is less than 8 ×10^-3 md.By contrast,the two factors are negatively correlated when NMR permeability is greater than 8 × 10^-3 md. | Chang'an SHAN Tingshan ZHANG Xing LIANG Dongchu SHU Zhao ZHANG Xiangfeng WEI Kun ZHANG Xuliang FENG Haihua ZHU Shengtao WANG Yue CHEN | 2019 | Frontiers of Earth Science2019,13,1: | 2 |
| 12 | Large-scale multirole Zn(Ⅱ) programmed synthesis of ultrathin hierarchically porous carbon nanosheets显示文摘ZIF-derived carbon structures are considered as desired electrode materials for supercapacitors due to their high surface area,high conductivity, and porous structure. However, the most reported ratio of 2-methylimidazole and Zn(II) is 4:1 to 20:1, which limits commercial applications due to the increasing cost. In this paper, a multirole Zn(II)-assisted method is presented from Zn(II) solution, Zn O, Zn O/ZIF-8 core-shell nanostructure, to 3 D hierarchical micro-meso-macroporous carbon structures with a1:1 ratio of 2-methylimidazole and Zn(II). The hierarchically porous carbon has a high surface area of 1800 m2 g^(-1) due to the synergistic effect of multirole Zn(II). The unique carbon-based half-cell delivers the specific capacitances of 377 and 221 F g^(-1) at the current densities of 1.0 and 50 A g^(-1), respectively. As a 2.5 V symmetrical supercapacitor, the device reveals a high doublelayer capacitance of 24.4 F g^(-1), a power density of 62.5 k W kg^(-1), and more than 85.8% capacitance can be retained over 10000 cycles at 10 A g^(-1). | 14 | Porous covalent organic frameworks-improved solid phase microextraction ambient mass spectrometry for ultrasensitive analysis of tetrabromobisphenol-A analogs显示文摘Owing to frequent environmental monitoring of tetrabromobisphenol-A(TBBPA)analogs and their potential ecotoxicological effects on organisms,analysis of trace levels of TBBPA analogs with more non-polar and less water-soluble characteristics is of great significance for studying their environmental behaviors and toxic effects.Herein,a fast and sensitive technique is developed for directly detecting aqueous TBBPA analogs,including TBBPA mono(allyl ether)(TBBPA-MAE),TBBPA mono(2,3-dibromopropyl ether)(TBBPAMDBPE),TBBPA mono(2-hydroxyethyl ether)(TBBPA-MHEE)and TBBPA mono(glycidyl ether)(TBBPAMGE),by combining solid phase microextraction(SPME)based on porous covalent organic frameworks(Porous-COFs)with constant flow desorption ionization-mass spectrometry(CFDI-MS).As chromatographic separation is replaced by constant flow desorption,each sample can be analyzed within 7 min.The hierarchical porous structures(microporous,mesoporous and macroporous)of COFs lead to the enhanced mass transfer and the easier accessibility of active sites to TBBPA analogs,so that the extraction efficiency is 2.3-3.6 times higher than pure microporous COFs,and far superior to commercial coatings.The detection limit and quantification limit of this method are 0.1-1 and 0.4-3.2 ng/L,respectively.Ultratrace levels of TBBPA analogs from 5.0 ng/L to 66 ng/L have been successfully detected in river and sea water samples,showing great potential for subsequent studies of their environmental behaviors and toxicological effects. | Wei Gao Min Li Yun Fa Zongshan Zhao Yaqi Cai Xiangfeng Liang Yongliang Yu Guibin Jiang | 2022 | Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,8: | 1 |
