Wnt and BMP signaling crosstalk in regulating dental stem cells:Implications in dental tissue engineering显示文摘Tooth is a complex hard tissue organ and consists of multiple cell types that are regulated by important signaling pathways such as Wnt and BMP signaling.Serious injuries and/or loss of tooth or periodontal tissues may significantly impact aesthetic appearance, essential oral functions and the quality of life.Regenerative dentistry holds great promise in treating oral/dental disorders. The past decade has witnessed a rapid expansion of our understanding of the biological features of dental stem cells, along with the signaling mechanisms governing stem cell self-renewal and differentiation. In this review,we first summarize the biological characteristics of seven types of dental stem cells, including dental pulp stem cells, stem cells from apical papilla, stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth, dental follicle precursor cells, periodontal ligament stem cells, alveolar bone-derived mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs),and MSCs from gingiva. We then focus on how these stem cells are regulated by bone morphogenetic protein(BMP)and/or Wnt signaling by examining the interplays between these pathways.Lastly,we analyze the current status of dental tissue engineering strategies that utilize oral/dental stem cells by harnessing the interplays between BMP and Wnt pathways. We also highlight the challenges that must be addressed before the dental stem cells may reach any clinical applications. Thus,we can expect to witness significant progresses to be made in regenerative dentistry in the coming decade.Fugui Zhang Jinlin Song Hongmei Zhang Enyi Huang Dongzhe Song Viktor Tollemar Jing Wang Jinhua Wang Maryam Mohammed Qiang Wei Jiaming Fan Junyi Liao Yulong Zou Feng Liu Xue Hu Xiangyang Qu Liqun Chen Xinyi Yu Hue H.Luu Michael J.Lee Tong-Chuan He Ping Ji 2016Genes & Diseases2016,3,4:16

Enhancing prime editing efficiency by modified pegRNA with RNA G-quadruplexes显示文摘Dear Editor,Recent study shows that the prime editing system fusing the Cas9 nickase and reverse transcriptase could perform all types ofgene modifications, including basesubstitutions(transitionsand transversions),small insertions, and deletions, without requiringdonor DNA or double-strand breaks(DSBs)(Anzalone et al.,2019).Despite the accuracy and versatility, the efficiencyof the prime editor(PE)is often insufficient, which limits its broadapplications.Xiangyang Li Xin Wang Wenjun Sun hisheng Huang Mingtian Zhong Yuan Yao Quanjiang Ji Xingxu Huang 2022Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2022,14,4:4
TiO2/EDTA-rich carbon composites: Synthesis, characterization and visible-light-driven photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ)显示文摘Ti02/EDTA-rich carbon composites(TiO_2/EDTA-RC) have been successfully synthesized via a low temperature carbonization process. TiO_2/EDTA-RC exhibits marked absorption of visible light and excellent photoreduction of Cr(Ⅵ) activity under visible light irradiation(λ>420 nm). Due to the high carboxyl group content and strong coordination ability of EDTA, TiO_2-EDTA complex can be easily fabricated between EDTA incorporated in carbon sheet and titanol group on the surface of TiO_2. TiO_2-EDTA complexes on the surface of TiO_2/EDTA-RC, the LMCT complex, are responsible for the prominent photoreduction of Cr(Ⅵ) properties of Ti02/EDTA-RC under visible light irradiation. In addition, the unique structure ofTiO_2/EDTA-RC is also propitious to the visible-light photocatalytic reduction of Cr(Ⅵ).Carbon sheet of TiO_2/EDTA-RC acts as a supporter. TiO_2 nanoparticles and EDTA homogeneously disperse into the carbon sheet supporter and form the TiO_2-EDTA complexes, which can avoid the aggregation of TiO_2 nanoparticles in the aqueous solution and provide more photocatalytic reaction points for the reduction of Cr(Ⅵ).Zhijun Luo Lingling Qu Jianzhong Ji Jing wang Suying Jiang Zhiren WU Xiangyang Wu 2018Chinese Chemical Letters2018,29,3:3
“Color Revolutions” and Beyond显示文摘“Color revolutions” (or “orange revolutions”) broke out in some of the Commonwealth of Independent States in the past couple of years, reminiscent of the drama of disintegration of the former Soviet bloc at the turn of the 1990s. Why those upheavals came hot on the heels of the Soviet collapses merely a dozen or so years ago? Are we expecting more domino effects down the road? What geographical repercussions will they spark? A panel discussion was held on the topic and their views published in the journal.Dr. Ji Zhiye is Research Professor and Assistant President of China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations (CICIR), and Director of the Institute of Russian Studies concurrently. 9Construction of a few-layer g-C_3N_4/α-MoO_3 nanoneedles all-solid-state Z-scheme photocatalytic system for photocatalytic degradation显示文摘The suppression of the recombination of electrons and holes(e–h) and the enhancement of the light absorption of semiconductors are two key points toward efficient photocatalytic degradation. Here,we report a few-layer g-C_3N_4/α-MoO_3 nanoneedles(flg-C_3N_4/α-MoO_3 NNs) all-solid-state Z-scheme mechanism photocatalyst synthesized via a typical hydrothermal method in a controlled manner. The recombination of the photo-induced e–h pairs could be effectively restrained by the Z-scheme passageway between the flg-C_3N_4 and α-MoO_3 NNs in the composite, which could also promise a high redox ability to degrade pollutants. And it became possible for the prepared photocatalyst to absorb light in a wide range of wavelengths. The detailed mechanism was studied by electron spin-resonance spectroscopy(ESR).The low-dimensional nanostructure of the two constituents(α-MoO_3 NNs with one-dimensional structure and flg-C_3N_4 with two-dimensional structure) endowed the composite with varieties of excellent physicochemical properties, which facilitated the transfer and diffusion of the photoelectrons and increased the specific surface area and the active sites. The 10 wt% flg-C_3N_4/α-MoO_3 NNs showed the best photocatalytic performance toward RhB degradation, the rate of which was 71.86%,~2.6 times higher than that ofα-MoO_3 NNs.Xiaoni Zhang Jianjian Yi Hanxiang Chen Mao Mao Liang Liu Xiaojie She Haiyan Ji Xiangyang Wu Shouqi Yuan Hui Xu Huaming Li 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,2:2

Relay-assisted hierarchical adaptation scheme for multi-user scalable video delivery to heterogeneous mobile devices显示文摘In multi-user video (MUV) delivery scenarios, the available resources of receiver devices, such as processing capability, link packet error rate (PER),and bandwidth, are usually different. We propose a relay-assisted hierarchical adaptation (RHA) scheme to maximize the total perceptual quality of all users when transmitting video streams coded via scalable video coding (SVC).First,MUV bitstreams are adaptively extracted under the constraints of network bandwidth and individual decoding capacity.Next, the relay links are introduced as substitutes of possible bad direct links for packets retransmissions.Approximately equal opportunity of transmission is allocated to each stream while the packets inside a stream are scheduled according to their priorities. The priorities are determined by the links states and packets loss distortions.Simulation results show that our RHA scheme has significant performance improvements compared with other schemes.XIAO HongJiang JI XiangYang DAI QiongHai 2012Science China(Information Sciences)2012,55,7:1
