3Effects of enhanced UV-B radiation on fitness of an alpine species Cerastium glomeratum Thuill显示文摘Aims Information about how species respond to extreme environments,such as high UV-B radiation,is very useful in estimating natural ecosystem structure and functions in alpine areas.Our aim is to examine the effect of enhanced UV-B radiation on the fitness of an alpine meadow annual species on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.Methods Plants of Cerastium glomeratum Thuill.were exposed to ambient(control)or ambient plus supplemental UV-B radiation(enhanced),simulating a 9%ozone depletion over Gannan,China(10253#E,3455#N,2900 m in altitude),up to leaf senescence and fruit maturation.Plant height,flower phenology,biomass allocation and reproductive parameters of the species were measured.Important findings Plant height in C.glomeratum was reduced by enhanced UV-B radiation at early growth stages and compensated with ongoing development.Fruit biomass,aboveground biomass,total biomass and reproductive effort(fruit dry mass/aboveground biomass)were not affected by enhanced UV-B radiation,but a significant increase in root/shoot ratio was found.Enhanced UV-B radiation delayed onset of flowering by 1 day and shortened duration of flowering by 5 days in C.glomeratum.But because of the long period of flowering time(83–88 days),this did not make any significant effect on flower number,seed number,pollination success(number of seeds per fruit)or reproductive success(fruit to flower ratio)in C.glomeratum.Enhanced UV-B radiation had no effect on seed germination and seed mass either.And the high production and low germination rate of the seed might be the strategy of C.glomeratum to survive the extreme environments on alpine meadow.All these results showed that C.glomeratum was tolerant to enhanced UV-B radiation.Ying Wang Nianwei Qiu Xingan Wang Zongqi Ma Guozhen Du 2008Journal of Plant Ecology2008,1,3:3
4Critical state to achieve a giant electric field-induced strain with a low hysteresis in relaxor piezoelectric ceramics显示文摘Due to the extrinsic contribution of domain wall motions to electro-strains,the incompatibility of the large electro-strain with a low hysteresis in piezoelectric ceramics is a stumbling block for designing high-performance piezoelectrical actuators.Herein,we report a critical state in relaxor ferroelectric systems enables to enhance the electro-strain and to reduce the hysteresis simultaneously.A room temperature ergodic relaxor state dominated by nanodomains with different local symmetries can be obtained by introducing Bi(Zn_(1/2)Ti_(1/2))TiO_(3) into 0.73 Pb(Mg_(1/3)Nb_(2/3))O_(3)-0.27PbTiO_(3) matrix.Like the morphotropic phase boundary(MPB)in ferroelectrics,the coexistence of different local symmetries is capable of facilitating the transition from the ergodic relaxor state to the ferroelectric under the applied field due to the ease of polarization rotation,thereby leading to a giant electro-stain(0.24%)under an electric field of 50 kV/cm.Furthermore,the field-induced ferroelectric state with the long-range ferroelectric order can spontaneously reverse back to the initial ergodic relaxor state during unloading the electric field,which contributes to a low hysteresis(15.4%).The present work not only introduces a solid solution system with excellent electro-strain properties but also affords a guidance for manipulating the electro-strain behavior by modulating phase structures and domain configurations of piezoelectric ceramics.Xiang Xia Xingan Jiang Jiangtao Zeng Liaoying Zheng Zhenyong Man Huarong Zeng Guorong Li 2021Journal of Materiomics2021,7,5:2

7Defining honeybee subspecies in an evolutionary context warrants strategized conservation显示文摘Despite the urgent need for conservation consideration,strategic action plans for the preservation of the Asian honeybee,Apis cerana Fabricius,1793,remain lacking.Both the convergent and divergent adaptations of this widespread insect have led to confusing phenotypical traits and inconsistent infraspecific taxonomy.Unclear subspecies boundaries pose a significant challenge to honeybee conservation efforts,as it is difficult to effectively prioritize conservation targets without a clear understanding of subspecies identities.Here,we investigated genome variations in 362 worker bees representing almost all populations of mainland A.cerana to understand how evolution has shaped its population structure.Whole-genome single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)based on nuclear sequences revealed eight putative subspecies,with all seven peripheral subspecies exhibiting mutually exclusive monophyly and distinct genetic divergence from the widespread central subspecies.Our results demonstrated that most classic morphological traits,including body size,were related to the climatic variables of the local habitats and did not reflect the true evolutionary history of the organism.Thus,such morphological traits were not suitable for subspecific delineation.Conversely,wing vein characters showed relative independence to the environment and supported the subspecies boundaries inferred from nuclear genomes.Mitochondrial phylogeny further indicated that the present subspecies structure was a result of multiple waves of population divergence from a common ancestor.Based on our findings,we propose that criteria for subspecies delineation should be based on evolutionary independence,trait distinction,and geographic isolation.We formally defined and described eight subspecies of mainland A.cerana.Elucidation of the evolutionary history and subspecies boundaries enables a customized conservation strategy for both widespread and endemic honeybee conservation units,guiding colony introduction and breeding.Lifei Qiu Jiangxing Dong Xingan Li Sajad HParey Ken Tan Michael Orr Aquib Majeed Xue Zhang Shiqi Luo Xuguo Zhou Chaodong Zhu Ting Ji Qingsheng Niu Shanlin Liu Xin Zhou 2023Zoological Research2023,44,3:1

10Effects of V-pits covering layer position on the optoelectronic performance of InGaN green LEDs显示文摘The impact of the V-pits covering layer(VCL) position on the optoelectronic performance of InGaN-based green light-emitting diodes(LEDs) was investigated. It is found that earlier covering of V-pits will hinder the hole injection via the sidewall of V-pits, and then result in less quantum wells(QWs) participating in radioluminescence. The current-voltage characteristics show that the LEDs with earlier covering of V-pits have higher operating voltage at room temperature, and a more dramatic voltage rise with the reduction of temperature. 12Tailored architecture of composite electrolyte for all-solid-state sodium batteries with superior rate performance and cycle life显示文摘Seeking for composite electrolytes reinforced all-solid-state sodium ion batteries with superior long lifespan and rate performance remains a great challenge.Here,a unique strategy to tailor the architecture of composite electrolyte via inserting polymer chains into a small quantity of sulfate sodium grafted C_(48)0H_(28)O_(32)Zr_(6)(UIOSNa)is proposed.The intimate contact between polymer segments and UIOSNa with limited pore size facilitates the anion immobilization of sodium salts and reduction of polymer crystallinity,thereby providing rapid ion conduction and reducing the adverse effect caused by the immigration of anions.The tNa+grafting of-SO_(3)Na groups on fillers allows the free movement of more sodium ions to further improve and ionic conductivity.Consequently,even with the low content of UIOSNa fillers,a high ionic conductivity of 6.62×10^(-4) S·cm^(-1) at 60℃ and a transference number of 0.67 for the special designed composite electrolyte are achieved.The assembled all-solid-state sodium cell exhibits a remarkable rate performance for 500 cycles with 95.96%capacity retention at a high current rate of 4 C.The corresponding pouch cell can stably work for 1000 cycles with 97.03%capacity retention at 1 C,which is superior to most of the reported composite electrolytes in the literature.Xiang Guan Zhenhua Jian Xingan Liao Wenchao Liao Yanfei Huang Dazhu Chen Robert K.Y.Li Chen Liu 2024Nano Research2024,17,5:0
13Diffusion effect on the decay of time-resolved photoluminescence under low illumination in lead halide perovskites显示文摘Time-resolved photoluminescence(TRPL)has been extensively used to measure the carrier lifetime in lead halide perovskites.The TRPL curves of perovskite materials are usually fitted with a multi-exponential function,instead of a single exponential one.This was considered to be a result of the surface and the bulk recombination or the additional radiative recombination caused by the high excited carrier density.Here,a new model considering the diffusion and the trap-assisted recombination of carriers is proposed to explain the TRPL curves.The expressions of the TRPL curves and the transient absorption(TA)dynamic curves are theoretically derived,demonstrating that the TRPL curve is an infinite exponential series,regardless of the presence of surface recombination or not.Our newly developed highly sensitive nanosecond TA and TRPL were employed to measure the carrier dynamics of the same sample under low illumination in the linear response region of TA,thereby experimentally verifying our model.These results suggest that the decay of the TRPL is not only a consequence of the carrier recombination but also the carrier diffusion.TRPL cannot provide a direct measurement of the carrier lifetime,whereas TA spectroscopy can.Furthermore,the surface and the bulk recombination can be resolved and the average diffusion coefficient(D)can also be correctly obtained by combining TRPL and TA measurements.We also propose an approximate method for calculating the carrier lifetime and diffusion coefficient of high-quality perovskite films.Our model provides not only a new interpretation of the dynamics of the PL decay but also a deep insight into the carrier dynamics in the nanosecond time scale under working condition of perovskites solar cells.Huang Li Haipeng Di Xingan Wang Zefeng Ren Ming Lu An-An Liu Xueming Yang Nanlin Wang Yiying Zhao Bohan Li 2023Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2023,66,8:0
14Stable large-area monodomain in as-grown bulk ferroelectric single crystal Sn_(2)P_(2)S_(6)显示文摘Driven by the minimization of total energy,the multi-domain morphology is preferred in as-grown ferroelectrics to reduce the depolarization and strain energy during the paraelectric to ferroelectric phase transition.However,the complicated multi-domain is not desirable for certain high-performance ferroelectric electro-optic devices.In this work,we achieve a reproducible and stable large-area monodomain in as-grown bulk ferroelectric single crystal Sn_(2)P_(2)S_(6).The monodomain dominates the entire single crystal,which is attributed to the internal charge carriers from the photoexcited disproportionation reaction of Sn ions.The charge carriers effectively screen the depolarization field and therefore decrease the depolarization energy and facilitate the formation of monodomain.This work offers a potential approach for engineering bulk ferroelectrics with a stable monodomain,which is desirable for the high-performance ferroelectric electro-optic devices.Yingzhuo Lun Jiaqian Kang Wenfu Zhu Jianming Deng Xingan Jiang Cheng Zhu Qi Ren Xian Zi Ziyan Gao Tianlong Xia Zishuo Yao Xueyun Wang Jiawang Hong 2023Journal of Advanced Dielectrics2023,13,3:0
15High-frequency polarity swings during the Gauss-Matuyama reversal from Baoji loess sediment显示文摘Paleomagnetic records of the Gauss-Matuyama reversal were obtained from two loess sections at Baoji on the Chinese Loes Plateau. Stepwise thermal demagnetization shows two obvious magnetization components. A low-temperature component iso lated between 100 and 200–250℃ is close to the present geomagnetic field direction, and a high-temperature component iso lated above 200–250℃ reveals clearly normal, reversed, and transitional polarities. Magnetostratigraphic results of both sec tions indicated that the Gauss-Matuyama reversal consists of a high-frequency polarity fluctuation zone, but the characteristic remanent magnetization directions during the reversal are clearly inconsistent. Rock magnetic experiments demonstrated tha for all the specimens with normal, reversed, and transitional polarities magnetite and hematite are the main magnetic carriers Anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility indicates that the studied loess sediments have a primary sedimentary fabric. Based on virtual geomagnetic pole latitudes, the Gauss-Matuyama reversal records in the two sections are accompanied by 14 short-lived geomagnetic episodes(15 rapid polarity swings) and 12 short-lived geomagnetic episodes(13 rapid polarity swings), respec tively. Our new records, together with previous ones from lacustrine, marine, and aeolian deposits, suggest that high-frequency polarity swings coexist with the Gauss-Matuyama reversal, and that the Gauss-Matuyama reversal may have taken more than11 kyr to complete. 16Hopf bifurcation of a delay SIRS epidemic model with novel nonlinear incidence:Application to scarlet fever显示文摘An SIRS epidemic model incorporating incubation time delay and novel nonlinear incidence is proposed and analyzed to seek for the control strategies of scarlet fever,where the contact rate which can reflect the regular behavior and habit changes of children is non-monotonic with respect to the number of susceptible.The model without delay may exhibit backward bifurcation and bistable states even though the basic reproduction number is less than unit.Furthermore,we derive the conditions for occurrence of Hopf bifurcation when the time delay is considered as a bifurcation parameter.The data ofscarlet fever of China are simulated to verify our theoretical results.In the end,several effective preventive and intervention measures of scarlet fever are found out.Yong Li Xianning Liu Lianwen Wang Xingan Zhang 2018International Journal of Biomathematics2018,11,7:0
