1Characterization particulate matter from several Chinese cooking dishes and implications in health effects显示文摘Cooking fume produced by oil and food at a high temperature releases large amount of fine particulate matter(PM) which have a potential hazard to human health. This chamber study investigated particle emission characteristics originated from using four types of oil(soybean oil, olive oil, peanut oil and lard) and different kinds of food materials(meat and vegetable). The corresponding emission factors(EFs) of number, mass, surface area and volume for particles were discussed. Temporal variation of size-fractionated particle concentration showed that olive oil produced the highest number PM concentration for the entire cooking process. Multiple path particle dosimetry(MPPD) model was performed to predict deposition in the human respiratory tract. Results showed that the pulmonary airway deposition fraction was the largest. It was also found that particles produced from olive oil led to the highest deposition. 2Analysis of floc morphology in a continuous-flow flocculation and sedimentation reactor显示文摘The floc morphology was investigated in a continuous-flow reactor, in order to understand the evolution of flocs in practical flocculation and sedimentation processes in water utilities. Kaolin-humic acid suspension was used as the test water, and polyaluminum chloride was chosen as the coagulant. An in-situ recognition system was applied to analyze the floc size, boundary fractal dimension, and eccentricity ratios. Particle numbers and turbidity were also determined in the sedimentation stage. At a coagulant dose of 1 mg/L as Al, the average floc size increased from 62 to 78 μm and the boundary fractal dimension was around 1.14, suggesting that flocs were compact and continuously grew during the entire flocculation process. However, with the dose increased to 5 mg/L, the average floc size decreased and stabilized at around 65 μm, with the fractal dimension of 1.20. It can be concluded that the excess coagulant doses resulted in the formation of chain-shaped, lower density, and more branched structure flocs, thereby restricting flocs' further growth in the subsequent flocculation. Floc morphology analysis suggested that charge neutralization dominated in the initial flocculation stage, then the bridge and sweep mechanisms were dominant in the subsequent flocculation. In addition, compared with the traditional inclined plate settler, a novel V-shaped plate settler introduced in this study had an advantage in small size floc(less than 5 μm) removal. 3Profiles of muscular amino acids,fatty acids,and metabolites in Shaziling pigs of different ages and relation to meat quality显示文摘Pork meat is closely related to physicochemical alterations during growth and development,resulting in differences in nutritional value and meat flavor.This study aimed to evaluate the composition of amino acids,fatty acids,and metabolic profiles in the longissimus thoracis muscle(LM)of Shaziling pigs aged 30,90,150,210,and 300 days.The results showed that the predominant fatty acids identified in the LM of Shaziling pigs were C16:0,C16:1,C18:0,C18:1n9c,and C18:2n6c.An opposite correlation was observed for C18:2n6c and n6/n3 polyunsaturated fatty acids(P<0.05).Alanine,aspartate,glutamate,Dglutamine,and D-glutamate metabolism were the main metabolic pathways for the Shaziling pig meat flavor(P<0.05).Moreover,the correlation coefficients revealed that the contents of anserine,C16:0,C16:1,and C18:1n9c were positively correlated with intramuscular fat and/or p H24hand were negatively correlated with the values of L^(*)(lightness)and b^(*)(yellowness)(P<0.05).In conclusion,age greatly affected the meat quality of Shaziling pigs,and the contents of muscular anserine,C16:0,C16:1,and C18:1n9c might be promising indicators for better meat quality.Yehui Duan Changbing Zheng Jie Zheng Lu Ma Xinran Ma Yinzhao Zhong Xichen Zhao Fengna Li Qiuping Guo Yulong Yin 2023Science China(Life Sciences)2023,66,6:2

7Active switching multiple model method for tracking a noncooperative gliding flight vehicle显示文摘The study investigates the trajectory estimation problem of a noncooperative gliding flight vehicle with complex and atypical maneuvers.An active switching multiple model(ASMM)method is proposed.This method employs a motion behavior model set(MBMS),a motion behavior recognition algorithm,and an active switching estimation and fusion algorithm.First,a recognizable MBMS,which can capture all the motion behaviors of a gliding flight vehicle,is established.Then,a motion behavior recognition algorithm based on recurrent neural networks(RNNs)is developed to obtain the current probability of each motion behavior.Then,an active switching estimation and fusion algorithm is proposed,in which the adopted models are actively chosen at each time instant according to a model selection strategy.Last,the proposed ASMM method is applied to a noncooperative gliding flight vehicle.The simulation results show that the proposed method has higher estimation precision and better dynamic performance.Tianyu ZHENG Yu YAO Fenghua HE Denggao JI Xinran ZHANG 2020Science China(Information Sciences)2020,63,9:1

10PICOTEES:a privacy-preserving online service of phenotype exploration for genetic-diagnostic variants from Chinese children cohorts显示文摘The growth in biomedical data resources has raised potential privacy concerns and risks of genetic information leakage. For instance, exome sequencing aids clinical decisions by comparing data through web services, but it requires significant trust between users and providers. To alleviate privacy concerns, the most commonly used strategy is to anonymize sensitive data. Unfortunately, studies have shown that anonymization is insufficient to protect against reidentification attacks. Recently, privacy-preserving technologies have been applied to preserve application utility while protecting the privacy of biomedical data. We present the PICOTEES framework, a privacy-preserving online service of phenotype exploration for genetic-diagnostic variants (http://gffzz63bc6e6362d14768s56q60vc6556n6x60.ffgz.tsg.suse.edu.cn/). PICOTEES enables privacy-preserving queries of the phenotype spectrum for a single variant by utilizing trusted execution environment technology, which can protect the privacy of the user's query information, backend models, and data, as well as the final results. We demonstrate the utility and performance of PICOTEES by exploring a bioinformatics dataset. The dataset is from a cohort containing 20,909 genetic testing patients with 3,152,508 variants from the Children's Hospital of Fudan University in China, dominated by the Chinese Han population (>99.9%). 11Research on the Motion Track of Ocean Towing System显示文摘In this paper, a method for predicting the position of towline is presented. The location of the finite node is determined by installing fixed spaced attitude sensors in towline arrays, then the appropriate objective functions are selected for water depth profile and course profile respectively, and the interpolation fitting method is combined with the determined predicted positions. Through the hydrodynamic analysis of the existing towing cable’s underwater motion, the position of the towing cable under the steady state motion is obtained as the reference basis, and two methods are put forward, which are improved spline interpolation method, polynomial fitting method and multivariate nonlinear regression analysis. In the case of steady state motion, the two methods are compared and compared with the hydrodynamic simulation results. 13Genomic diversity and ecological distribution of marine Pseudoalteromonas phages显示文摘Pseudoalteromonas,with a ubiquitous distribution,is one of the most abundant marine bacterial genera.It is especially abundant in the deep sea and polar seas,where it has been found to have a broad metabolic capacity and unique co-existence strategies with other organisms.However,only a few Pseudoalteromonas phages have so far been isolated and investigated and their genomic diversity and distribution patterns are still unclear.Here,the genomes,taxonomic features and distribution patterns of Pseudoalteromonas phages are systematically analyzed,based on the microbial and viral genomes and metagenome datasets.A total of 143 complete or nearly complete Pseudoalteromonas-associated phage genomes(PSAPGs)were identifed,including 34 Pseudoalteromonas phage isolates,24 proviruses,and 85 Pseudoalteromonas-associated uncultured viral genomes(UViGs);these were assigned to 47 viral clusters at the genus level.Many integrated proviruses(n=24)and flamentous phages were detected(n=32),suggesting the prevalence of viral lysogenic life cycle in Pseudoalteromonas.PSAPGs encoded 66 types of 249 potential auxiliary metabolic genes(AMGs)relating to peptidases and nucleotide metabolism.They may also participate in marine biogeochemical cycles through the manipulation of the metabolism of their hosts,especially in the phosphorus and sulfur cycles.Siphoviral and flamentous PSAPGs were the predominant viral lineages found in polar areas,while some myoviral and siphoviral PSAPGs encoding transposase were more abundant in the deep sea.This study has expanded our understanding of the taxonomy,phylogenetic and ecological scope of marine Pseudoalteromonas phages and deepens our knowledge of viral impacts on Pseudoalteromonas.It will provide a baseline for the study of interactions between phages and Pseudoalteromonas in the ocean.Kaiyang Zheng Yue Dong Yantao Liang Yundan Liu Xinran Zhang Wenjing Zhang Ziyue Wang Hongbing Shao Yeong Yik Sung Wen Jye Mok Li Lian Wong Andrew McMinn Min Wang 2023Marine Life Science & Technology2023,5,2:0

15Research on Attitude Solving Algorithm of Towing Cable Based on Convolutional Neural Network Fusion Extended Kalman Filter显示文摘Marine seismic exploration is an important part of offshore oil and gasexploration, which requires accurate attitude information of submarine towingequipment. Conventional attitude solution algorithm or Kalman filter algorithmcannot satisfy the current requirements of high accuracy, high reliability, strongenvironmental adaptability and low cost. In view of the low accuracy and poorenvironmental adaptability of the traditional Kalman filter algorithm, this paperproposes a CNN-EKF fusion attitude calculation algorithm based on the studyof the extended Kalman filter (EKF) model and the convolutional neural network(CNN) model. The system noise variance matrix (Q) and the observationnoise variance matrix(R)of EKF were optimized by CNN, and the final solutionresults were obtained. 16A subpopulation of CD146^(+) macrophages enhances antitumor immunity by activating the NLRP3 inflammasome显示文摘As one of the main tumor-infiltrating immune cell types, tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) determine the efficacy of immunotherapy. However, limited knowledge about their phenotypically and functionally heterogeneous nature restricts their application in tumor immunotherapy. In this study, we identified a subpopulation of CD146+ TAMs that exerted antitumor activity in both human samples and animal models. CD146 expression in TAMs was negatively controlled by STAT3 signaling. Reducing this population of TAMs promoted tumor development by facilitating myeloid-derived suppressor cell recruitment via activation of JNK signaling. Interestingly, CD146 was involved in the NLRP3 inflammasome-mediated activation of macrophages in the tumor microenvironment, partially by inhibiting transmembrane protein 176B (TMEM176B), an immunoregulatory cation channel.
